They wanted me to reschedule. I didn't reschedule. None of the staff was rude. That is why I chose to go there. I am upset that they didn't message me to tell me they didn't have time. I don't have a car, so I have to walk everywhere and they are close to my home. My mouth still hurts. So I have to find someone else who has time to see me. I booked the appointment online, so I don't understand what the deal was, as to why they didn't have time? Overall, the staff was nice. I do recommend they get some help with time management, so noone else experiences this. Now I have to find another dentist, so I won't be wasting mine or their time. I never even seen the dentist. I went because I am trans and having FMS (facial masculinization surgery) and my surgeon wanted me to consult with an orthodontist. I needed to see how the different options for FMS would impact having braces/Invisalign in the future, how braces/Invisalign might continue to change my jaw after surgery, and based on that, what surgical options would be best. Dr. Allen was really informative, he took the time to go through all of the possible options and answer all of my questions. It was clear that he is well informed on facial surgery, even when it doesn't directly relate to dentistry. He was really friendly and acted like they were all completely normal questions. I was definitely nervous to have an appointment about this and he made it a completely comfortable experience. Additionally, I've had other unrelated orthodontic consults in the past with other providers. Grand dental was the most thorough.

Dr. Youngquist Sr. completed my orthodontia and results were fine…read more There were significant issues with his behavior that were never adequately addressed by him or his staff. He arrived over an hour late after asking me to arrive early in the morning which made it necessary for me to make arrangements at my work. When he did arrive, he didn't apologize, but explained that he was at a ball game up north and couldn't get back on time. He explained further how important he felt it was to take his (grown) son to this ball game since he'd never been to one before. He then proceeded to spill acid in my mouth which caused a permanent scar. By that point I began to realize that he probably was suffering from a hangover. After that, he called my home in the evening (very likely drunk) and admitted that he spilled the acid and told me what the specific chemical was - all of this only after I asked him repeatedly to explain what happened. (I believed that he called in order to try to prevent a lawsuit). He then proceeded to tell me at great length, to both my and my husband's astonishment, that he once had to wait for a long time at a doctor's office and that waiting for doctors is to be expected and that I had no reason to complain. He also went on and on about the importance of taking his son to the ball game. He was clearly drunk and very defensive. I made an appointment a few days later to review my mouth injuries and to discuss his phone call to my home and his behavior in general. Dr. Youngquist did not appear. One of his assistants denied that my injuries were caused by the acid spill. All of my questions and comments were ignored. After that, I discontinued all association with him. I very likely should have pursued a claim, but I was fed up with his pompous, self-aggrandizing, irresponsible behaviors and needed to move on. This was about ten years ago. I've been irritated during the past years when I've seen any ads, etc. referring to his practice. I probably should have found a way to warn others about him. I believe that, while he is capable of producing good orthodontic results, his behavior is detrimental and potentially harmful, especially since he deals with children who have no way of determining if he's at his best when he is performing a procedure. I don't know if he is still practicing or if his son took over. If he is still active, I would be wary of his unusual behaviors and be sure to be present when he performs procedures on children. Better yet, find another orthodontist. This is all unfortunate, but it needs to be said.

Called my insurance and they did not understand why this office was not able to distinguish between the two. When I called dental fields office again they claimed to have already called several times, however I do not believe this to be the case. Very frustrating, canceled my appointment and will find another dentist who can either tell the difference between medical and dental or at least call to get it cleared up.
