Regardless of whether I was annoyed or whatever, instead of being met with understanding and maybe a sorry about the wait, they told the boss I was a problem leading to the doctor to reprimand me and I didn't hold back on him either. I think it is very wrong for them to make anyone wait an extensive amount of time. There are times these things happen, but you deal with them in a better manner that does not precipitate further animosity in a heighten emotional situation. In other words, say you're sorry to the patients for their wait and don't act like you just have to put up with anything because, well your here to see the "doctor".

Before scheduling, I confirmed with my insurance company that the facility was in-network for physical therapy. When I brought an outside PT referral, I was told the department only accepts referrals from its own physicians, so I scheduled an appointment and paid a copay solely to obtain the required referral. After following their instructions, I was then informed that the Physical Therapy department does not accept my insurance plan after all. Had I been told upfront that physician and physical therapy services have different insurance participation requirements--or been directed to verify coverage with billing--I could have avoided an unnecessary appointment, copay, and wasted time. What is most disappointing is the lack of acknowledgment or effort to resolve the issue. The problem isn't just the money; it's that patients deserve accurate information before being asked to schedule appointments and incur costs. I strongly encourage future patients to verify both physician and physical therapy coverage directly with the billing department before scheduling. Unfortunately, after this experience, I will not be returning.
