Helen and her team at OPTS have seen me 3 times now and all I can say is thank you for everything they have done. My pain has often affected my strength in the strained areas and it usually takes several months to bounce back. In just a few short visits (which I plan on making many more trips to OPTS) my pain has subsided and I can without hesitation say they are TRULY treating the weakness. This is were my pain stoped! I have been suffering from back pain, Sciatic nerve due to a accident. I attended Physical Therapy for almost 3 months at a different place visited a spine specialist, who wants me to get an epidural every now and then, and also looked at surgery. I was desperate for a solution, I could barely stand on my leg at times, couldn't get a good night of sleep walked with a limp and in lots of pain. I've been to OPT and Refresh a few times for my back and ankle. I have had nothing but great experiences each time. This is a family run business that focuses on one on one attention. This is somewhat of a rarity these days in health care. Other clinics/chains are a revolving door of patients who work with rehab aides because the physical therapist is treating 3-4 patients at a time. There's no way other places can offer the same quality of care. As a health care professional myself, I would recommend this place. The environment there is so friendly and helpful, you will be glad you made the decision to start on the road to recovery! As a nurse, and as someone who deals with patient care on a daily basis, I have nothing but good things to say about Orthopedic Physical Therapy Services and Refresh Pilates and Wellness Studio. I had injured my back at work and was in need of physical therapy. Previous experience with places like ATI had me looking for something different, an atmosphere that I would enjoy being in, and a place that I would actually look forward to going to every other day. I got all of those things here and more! This is a family owned business, and I felt like a friend every time I walked in the door. Helen, Stephanie, and Rena are absolutely the best!! They focus on each patient one-on-one, which I have never seen anywhere else. Every day after I completed my exercises, I would get a massage, with electric stimulation, and sometimes cupping therapy (which was my favorite!) I would come home and feel like I just got treated at the spa! Within a week of treatment I felt significant improvement in my back, and within a month I was back to work on full duty. There are times when words hardly seem adequate and this is certainly one of those times. I have seen a vast array of physicians and physical therapists within the past 15 years for a myriad of medical issues, all of which are chronic. Never before has my immense arena of treatment included such talented, skilled, personable and compassionate doctors as those who work for Orthopedic Physical Therapy Services, LLC or its sister company, Homer Chiropractic Clinic, housed in the same building, (see my review of December 12, 2012). I have been treated by Helen Owens-Burkhart, PT, DPT many, many times when I broke my wrist in several places not long ago. Working in tandem with my occupational therapists, my wrist healed much sooner than I anticipated. Now, it is fully functional and I am pleased to report that Dr. Burkhart played a significant role in its excellent results, both by utilizing her obvious skill, but also her wonderful sense of humor. Unfortunately, I also have terrible arthritis in my lumbar area and her daughter, Stephanie, is using Pilates and state of the art equipment to help keep these problems at bay. She is fabulous and sees me three times per week, while Homer Chiropratic seems me once per week. Stephanie makes the treatment very enjoyable and is extremely supportive. These women, as well as two male therapists named Gee and Brian, are class acts! They really care about their patients and it shows. Between these two clinics, there usually are a lot of patients in the waiting room and every examining room is taken. That said, one can always get an appointment when the need arises. There is humor . . . tremendous professionalism . . . extraordinary skill . . . and unique compassion among all of these people and I would never think of going anywhere else! They work long hours and have been wonderfully trained. My only regret is they don't make house calls! :-) read more
