I initially took a Pilates class with Stephanie Burkhart, who is also a physical therapist. A few months later, I injured my foot, and knew exactly where to go! Stephanie and her team (Rena & Ashley) were outstanding. They were very knowledgeable and skilled -- and this is coming from another orthopedic health care professional! I enjoyed the one on one attention, and felt like I was in a relaxing spa during my treatments. Refresh just doesn't help you heal your aching joints, it helps heal your mind and body together. Some other physical therapy clinics (Athletico) operate like an assembly line of body parts- and it's not very personable. So glad I found and tried Refresh Pilates! Like several others, I first went to Dr. Burkhart (chiropractor) next door -- whom I love and has done wonders for me -- when I saw and was curious about Refresh. I liked the idea that Dr. Stephanie Owens-Burkhart ris not only trained and educated in chiropractic and physical therapy, but is a fantastic Pilates instructor to boot! This morning was my first class with her, and since trying my "first class free" three days ago, was my third class overall. The second was with Taylor, who is awesome. Each class (so far) has been different, and I like them all for different reasons. By the third class, I'm already hooked. I can definitely see that I would miss it on off days. I LOVE Refresh Pilates in Homer Glen!!! I have been attending their Pilates classes for about 4 months now and I am hooked!! There are a variety of classes each with a different emphasis all using the Pilates reformer. All classes are small with individual attention by the instructor. I particularly enjoy the Back Care class taught by Stephanie Owens-Burkhart, the owner as well as a Doctor in Physical Therapy. She really knows her stuff! What a fun and motivating instructor!! My back has improved greatly and so has my energy level and strength!! Refresh recently expanded the yoga classes offered with Toni. Hatha, Yin and Vinyasa yoga choices to choose from. I have been bothered by bouts of Vertigo for years. The bouts come on quickly can be debilitating and last for days. While at PT my husband casually mentioned that I was experiencing a bout of Vertigo. His therapist recommended I come in and see Dr. Anne Best that she could help me with my Vertigo. I was skeptical but I thought I would give it a try. We both have seen therapists there in the past and always been thrilled with the results. Dr. Anne was able to fit me in that afternoon. She did some specialized head and neck movements which only took about 20 minutes but were extremely effective and also gave me instructions for at home care. That night I definitely felt much better and by morning my Vertigo bout was totally gone. I am thrilled to know that there is a treatment for Vertigo and that there is a therapist close to home that is extremely caring and wonderfully trained at treating patients with Vertigo. I love Refresh. I went for chiropractic work next door, learned about the pilates studio and have been hooked ever since. I've been going for over a year and love every aspect. REFRESH PILATES STUDIO is amazing! I've been getting my physical therapy post rotator cuff surgery with Helen Owens and Stephanie Owens-Burkhart next door from the Pilates studio. (If you ever need PT, they are THE ones to go to! Seriously.) For the past 6 weeks, I've been taking pilates classes at Refresh. I am hooked! The studio is new and so clean. I've taken classes with most of the instructors. They each have their own style and they are all excellent as well as highly trained and always looking out for everyone's safety. The reformer machines are new and so much fun while definitely getting a great total body workout/stretching. I love that the class sizes are small...maximum 10 people for each one hour class. Love the personal little touches the owners include and the aromatherapy is soooo nice! I was a newbie to Pilates. The instructors know everyone by name and go out of their way to help you when you're new. Hoping that this studio remains excellent for MANY years to come! I've been doing Pilates for the last 5 years and just started at Refresh 3 months ago. This is by far my favorite studio. The instructors are energetic, personable, and professional. I would not recommend this studio for yoga. It was in a cold basement , with noise above and not a peaceful environment.

Eight months ago today I had what was supposed to be an easy peasy hip replacement. After complications and months of extensive pain and fluid extractions I was finally able to resume physical therapy. I have a new respect for pain and the ability it has to change your life as you knew it...To be blunt I was an emotional mess; I actually was fearful I might never walk unassisted again.. The highly trained, knowledgeable, compassionate staff at Refresh Pilates gave me my life back Owner, Stephanie is so full of energy, upbeat and positive I couldn't let her see me depressed or defeated..she provided individual therapy, pilates and torture room exercises that strengthened my core, my muscles and my posture, strength and form. As my therapy increased 3x a week anywhere from 1-2 hours I was introduced to Rena and Ashley who added their personal style to my workouts.encouraged my progress and increased my abilities and confidence. It was as if in the hours of therapy I was transported to a different place concentrating only on my wellness. and that is what Refresh provides a sanctuary for you to get well. I won't say I didn't have set backs but these women got me over the hump and knew when I needed more massage and heat or cold than stretch; They were my light at the end of the tunnel, a source of encouragement and everyone shares in your growth and wellness. Since my therapy has been almost 6 months I have had the honor to also work with Helen, Pat, Carrie and Sue who all have their own special style and persona to bring to your journey to health..And I can't not mention sweet Taylo and Toni...both teach classes which I have been honored to attend. .So we have done so well; I have been mainstreamed to general Pilates/Yoga and Spine classes - you will not be disappointed regardless who is the instructor and the women that attend are all wonderful also...It is truly a hidden sanctuary in Homer Glen...invested in your wellness. read more

As a nurse, and as someone who deals with patient care on a daily basis, I have nothing but good things to say about Orthopedic Physical Therapy Services and Refresh Pilates and Wellness Studio. I had injured my back at work and was in need of physical therapy. Previous experience with places like ATI had me looking for something different, an atmosphere that I would enjoy being in, and a place that I would actually look forward to going to every other day. I got all of those things here and more! This is a family owned business, and I felt like a friend every time I walked in the door. Helen, Stephanie, and Rena are absolutely the best!! They focus on each patient one-on-one, which I have never seen anywhere else. Every day after I completed my exercises, I would get a massage, with electric stimulation, and sometimes cupping therapy (which was my favorite!) I would come home and feel like I just got treated at the spa! Within a week of treatment I felt significant improvement in my back, and within a month I was back to work on full duty. Refresh Pilates is the best reformer pilates in Chicago. This is a great workout without hurting yourself. All the teachers are highly educated and trained and understand anatomy and how to accommodate any level of pilates experience. The classes are challenging and fun. Classes are limited to ten people, so everyone gets personal attention. Regardless of your fitness level, you will comfortable in one of their classes. My family has been seeing the chiropractor next door since the 1980s and once Refresh Pilates and Wellness opened up next door, I knew I had to be apart of it. It is a family owned business and they are so personable and really care about helping their patients. They are so friendly and helpful and always fitting me in for PT whenever I can make it. After doing PT there after a few different surgeries, I decided to give the pilates a try! I couldn't be more pleased! My grandma was the one that encouraged me to try the pilates. I was always very intimidated by the machines, but once I was on one, the instructors were so helpful and made it so fun to be apart of! The yoga classes are great too, and they have helped me with my overall flexibility. I just recently scheduled a massage with their massage therapist and am really looking forward to that! I had been looking for a studio for yoga classes when I came across Refresh Wellness Center. It is just what I wanted and more! The ambiance is so beautiful, peaceful and clean! The instructors (3) each bring their own unique style and personality to the core purpose to deliver an environment of well being. I have not yet done yoga, instead I am enrolled in Reformer Pilates classes. It's fun, "refreshing," uplifting and beneficial. All age groups are involved and each class brings something new mixed with routine stretching. I love it! I am also doing PT on my foot at the office. This combined with the pilates classes is providing healing and a true sense of well being.
