When I arrived, my pain level was intense, I could hardly walk; he diagnosed my issue within minutes, he was thorough, professional, articulate, very knowledgeable; and took his time in explaining in detail my issues, his recommendation and how he was going to address the problem. He had me out the door with little, to no pain in about 45 minutes. I've been more than satisfied with Kevin's diagnosis, it was spot on....and my recovery has been impressive. On December 11, I went to Ortho SC with excruciating back pain and could barely walk. They took X-rays of my spine and told me everything looked fine. I was given a muscle relaxer and prednisone and told the MRI department would call me to schedule an MRI--$460 with insurance--and then I was sent home. That night, my pain became unbearable. I suffered severe muscle spasms, got no sleep, and was in so much pain that I cried repeatedly. When I called Ortho SC first thing the next morning to explain what was happening, I was told they could not help me and that I should go to the emergency room. When I asked about the MRI, I was brushed off and told someone would contact me. I had to push to be transferred to the MRI department myself. There, I was told the next available appointment was December 22--nearly two weeks later. I was informed that there were 66 patients ahead of me and that my pain did not warrant any urgency. Being told to live with this level of pain for weeks was not only unacceptable, it was inhumane. When a complaint management representative finally called me back, her response was simply, "If you're in that much pain, go to the ER." This was after Ortho SC had already taken my insurance, performed incomplete imaging, and sent me home with no answers and no plan. I have never felt so dismissed, abandoned, or powerless by a medical provider. Out of desperation, I found a spine specialist on my own and was seen the same day. They immediately took proper X-rays, including a front view that Ortho SC never bothered to do. The doctor showed me that my spine was shifting to the right and that I had two compressed discs at the bottom of my spine--conditions Ortho SC completely missed. I received injections that actually helped my pain and was given a clear, competent treatment plan. This experience highlights everything wrong with large, corporate-style healthcare practices. At Ortho SC, patients are treated as numbers, not human beings in pain. I will never return to Ortho SC, and I will actively warn others to avoid! read more

My husband had a procedure scheduled and when we went to check in at the front desk, the receptionist Shelly had a miserable face on, no good morning, no smile and made it very obvious she wanted nothing to do with her job. She was loud, made the entire waiting room hear our business, it was such a bad experience that we needed to speak to office manager. Both me and my husband have used this office with no trouble before but due to Shelly's attitude being tolerated by the office we will not be back. read more

Update: January 15, 2026 I went to another spine specialist outside of OrthoSC, everyone at the office was so nice and professional, they were happy. It was a huge relief like a breath of fresh air and I was in tears because I was treated with respect and kindness unlike OrthoSC. In this appointment the doctor treated the constant bad headaches I was having from severe whiplash with a different treatment than all the injections I was getting from OrthoSC that were not working. I was sent for PT for my severe whiplash which no one at OrthoSC suggested. Today 2/13/26 I have not had any headaches or neck pain since Jan. 15th! I did not have to make another appointment for evaluation and then another appointment for injections like OrthoSC had me do when I had already received several injections from them. I had a follow up appointment on 1/22/26 for my headaches/neck and a review of my MRI since it took 4 requests to get my MRI from OrthoSC, they sent everything but my lumbar MRI. My new spine doctor reviewed the same MRI that Dr. Mills and Dr. Alci reviewed. They said I did NOT need the ALIF surgery (intensive back fusion surgery) that what I had going on in my lumbar could be done with an out patient less invasive surgery. They showed me the MRI went over it with great detail (unlike Dr. Mills) and the things that this doctor showed me was NOT what the doctors at OrthoSC said to me. (I cannot go into detail on what was found and done for this surgery to honor HIPPA regulations) I was scheduled for out patient surgery on Feb. 4th. My insurance UHC approved everything same day and paid for everything (minus my portion). As of today 2/13/26 I am pain free! Standing straight, walking normal and able to sleep in my bed with 8 hours of sleep vs six months of 4 to 5 hours of sleep in the recliner! I'm not taking any pain meds or injections. I have returned to a normal life! All I can say is thank God I left OrthoSC because they would have performed a surgery (ALIF) that I did not need! read more

Feel like my "care team" could care less. Insurance needed more info and I called to let them know, was told they were on it... 2 weeks later told same thing... one week later send msg via portal... 72 hrs later still ignored. Found out though conversation with my Insurance's medical approval dept that OrthoSC hadn't even looked to see if requested procedure had been approved or declined and they certainly didn't/weren't sending additional information that was discussed on 2 phone calls to their office. Just love being lied to and ignored by the physician and their staff that I've paid and entrusted my health to. read more

I use Dr Maybin for pain management after Dr. Alci my neurologist was honest with me about my spinal issues and said he wouldn't operate. He was the second opinion. I use Brian at CMC for Physical Therapy. Everyone is timely for their appointments. I never have to wait. All areas of the practices are modern and clean. Now that I'm a patient of all these caregivers, I don't really have to wait for an appointment and if something is really wrong I get squeezed in. As good as it gets. read more

O, On July 26 at 9:30 AM. Dr.Ramsey has agreed and will be the orthopedic surgeon Who has finally agreed to see me after The surgeon that did my attorney New transplant and December 8 of 2015 as well as three other surgeries to try to fix it he quit seeing me and would no longer seeing me anymore. So I have been trying to find a new surgeon to fix my knee I have been wheel chair bound for over a year as of right now to walk on my knee. I had been to a few orthopedic Dr's in the area. I made an appointment with Dr Ramsey after reading an article that he does same day surgery for hip and knee. Although I do not qualify Dr Ramsey is by far the best I have seen. He explains everything does not want to do procedures that are not necessary just to bill insurance company. He listens and explains very well and it is obvious he reads your chart before he walks into the exam room.............. I highly recommend him read more

Recent surgery by Dr. Mills, great success. Pinched nerve in spine causing severe pain in right leg. Dr Mills treatment prior to surgery was very professional and staff, especially LaToya Merrill was always helpful. I had knee surgery with Dr. Ramsey in 2019, it was a knee revision. Everything was fine until 2 weeks later. My patella disconnected and slid to the right. I was at therapy at the time and my therapist wheeled me to Dr. Ramsey's office, he was on vacation and a hand Dr. saw me and put a full leg brace on me and told me to see Dr. Noble in the morning. I called the office to find out what time I should come and the girl told me that DR. NOBLE can't see me! In the mean time my pain is getting worse and worse and by the next day I could not move my leg at all because of pain. I went to the ER and the doctor again told me to see Dr. Noble in the morning...he had spoken to him. I called to see what time and again he REFUSED to see me! I had to wait until my Dr. returned, 10 days later I saw my Dr. and had to have more surgery...in fact 2 surgeries in 1 week! I had a infection causing the patella to slide! I went through months of pain and discomfort , and IV antibiotics. Dr. Noble was the on call Dr. why didn't he see me... I WOULD NEVER RECOMMEND DR. NOBLE!!!! read more
