I have been receiving care from OrthoSC over the years. I have always had the best care. Dr. Merritt just did arthroscopic rotator cuff surgery. I highly recommend him. He is caring, listens, and explains things thoroughly. I am blessed to have Ortho SC, physical therapy, and Dr. Merritt for my orthopedic care. They may be great if you have no issues after the surgery. I had a knee replacement which was good for 3 months until it wasn't. Minimal help to find out what is wrong and how to fix it. Back pedaling; could be this or could be that no clear solution. I had already tried everything that they recommend for pain with no relief. So here I am almost 3 years later with daily pain and a knee that is 100% worse than before the surgery. Wouldn't risk using these doctors in case something goes wrong. read more

I saw a review describing this place as an "assembly line," and after being here twice, I completely agree. This was my second time seeing Dr. Blair, and the experience was just as bad as the first. Patients are told to arrive early, even established patients who already completed everything online, only to sit in the waiting room 45 minutes past their appointment time before even being called back. Then another 20+ minute wait just to see the doctor for about 30 seconds, only to be told he would be back. After that, another 25-minute wait before he finally returned for an injection (he's gotta sneak in those extra 2 or 3 appointments). Dr. Blair has zero bedside manner, came across arrogant, dismissive, and immediately pushed surgery on a 46-year-old patient while claiming there were "no other options." I've never met a doctor so dismissive. What makes that even more concerning is that I sought a second opinion and was, in fact, given another treatment option. At no point did I feel like my pain or concerns were taken seriously. Isn't a doctor's job supposed to include treating pain and helping patients explore options instead of brushing them aside? The entire interaction felt rushed, cold, and transactional. OrthoSC feels like a run-of-the-mill greed factory where volume and money matter more than patient care. The lack of communication, respect for patients' time, and overall professionalism was incredibly disappointing. I gave them two chances, and they failed both times. I would never allow anyone from this practice to operate on me. If you are dealing with shoulder issues, I highly recommend Dr. William Greer. He was compassionate, patient, answered every question without acting annoyed, and actually spent time with me -- about 15 minutes, which felt like a completely different experience compared to OrthoSC. read more

I went and had an MRI done the technician was very very nice and and all the other people were nice the woman who brought me into the room was nice at first never asking me if if I was claustrophobic when I went into the MRI machine it was so tight and narrow and I they had no air on and I I was getting nervous inside and I pushed the ball and she seemed like she got annoyed cuz I had to come out and they said they told me I had 3 minutes left which I never heard on the on the headphones so after I come out they tell me oh if you look in the back it's open you could see and then I felt more comfortable going back in to do that without the headphones on my heads and I could hear my heart beating and getting loud and me getting more nervous I felt like she got annoyed cuz I came out and I told her thank you she didn't answer me she had a issues with you know being considerate to older people and that's the only issue I have but all the technicians the technician in there was very nice and I appreciate their help but some people just have issues and there's nothing you can do about it but that was the only problem I had with that one not being so nice and considerate you know cuz I had to come out of the machine which is a joke I would never go back there for another MRI read more

Everyone is fantastic that office from the front desk to the staff in the back. I had the opportunity to be cared for by Dr. Feathers and have surgery with . I would highly recommend both doctors Dr. Feathers sports medicine and dr Brothers for knee surgery. The physical therapy department on the first floor is exceptional. All of the staff is outstanding. I would highly recommend this practice for non-surgery measures, surgery and physical therapy. read more

On December 11, I went to Ortho SC with excruciating back pain and could barely walk. They took X-rays of my spine and told me everything looked fine. I was given a muscle relaxer and prednisone and told the MRI department would call me to schedule an MRI--$460 with insurance--and then I was sent home. That night, my pain became unbearable. I suffered severe muscle spasms, got no sleep, and was in so much pain that I cried repeatedly. When I called Ortho SC first thing the next morning to explain what was happening, I was told they could not help me and that I should go to the emergency room. When I asked about the MRI, I was brushed off and told someone would contact me. I had to push to be transferred to the MRI department myself. There, I was told the next available appointment was December 22--nearly two weeks later. I was informed that there were 66 patients ahead of me and that my pain did not warrant any urgency. Being told to live with this level of pain for weeks was not only unacceptable, it was inhumane. When a complaint management representative finally called me back, her response was simply, "If you're in that much pain, go to the ER." This was after Ortho SC had already taken my insurance, performed incomplete imaging, and sent me home with no answers and no plan. I have never felt so dismissed, abandoned, or powerless by a medical provider. Out of desperation, I found a spine specialist on my own and was seen the same day. They immediately took proper X-rays, including a front view that Ortho SC never bothered to do. The doctor showed me that my spine was shifting to the right and that I had two compressed discs at the bottom of my spine--conditions Ortho SC completely missed. I received injections that actually helped my pain and was given a clear, competent treatment plan. This experience highlights everything wrong with large, corporate-style healthcare practices. At Ortho SC, patients are treated as numbers, not human beings in pain. I will never return to Ortho SC, and I will actively warn others to avoid them. read more

My wife fell while we were vacationing in Mrytle Beach after going to the North Strand ER and finding out it was broke, we went to Ortho SC to see if they could give us a clearer picture about the break. All support staff was great , polite, pleasent, and helpful. After x rays, we were waiting for the results. A nurse practioner came into to the room and anounced to us in a very rushed and with an almost rude attitude you need surgery, we ask for an opinion from a doctor when she lrft the room for moments and came back and said the dr said it needs surgury asking if could wait the 3 days left of our vaction her reply ws the soonerthe better and good luck as shewaswalking out the door. Leaving us with the felling that we were from out of town and could not provide them with any futher revenue, I can only say that upon my experience I could not recomend the office. read more

This is an emergency surgery that needs done. I called tidelands health and they were able to get us in same day with my insurance and has no idea why ortho sc told me they don't take my insurance because in their search every place does. very very poor quality of service. When I rehabbed my first knee replacement over a year ago, I gave Ortho SC PT at Carolina Forest five stars. They were great. Facility is large, has big windows, plenty of equipment. I rehabbed my second knee this summer. There were changes. I had two different itinerant, traveling PTs. Saw each traveling PT one time only. This is not great for continuity of care. Yes, the notes are all in the computer. But the relationship with the recovering patient is shot to heck. Worse, one day the assistant PT whom I liked very much and saw multiple times, handed me off to a student. Yes, a student. He left to take another patient. This student was not equipped to be left unsupervised. Not safe. Not professional. I deem that a very poor level of care. I can no longer recommend Ortho SC PT. Lack of continuity of care is a big no-no. Lack of proper supervision of STUDENTS is a dangerous and unsafe practice. read more

I recently had a visit with Ortho SC in North Myrtle Beach, SC following an automobile accident as referred by the ER at Grand Strand for follow-up. My appointment was for a permanent cast for my left arm which was broken in two places and was reduced and set in the ER. The appointment was with Dr. Max Gehrman who reviewed my x-ray, told me that I would have a permanent lump on my arm and was quite dismissive when I asked him about the pinkie finger on my right hand. I had assumed initially it was jammed but it would not straighten and had begun to cause daily pain. I asked for his professional opinion as to whether he thought it was broken. He told me that I could tape it to the other finger and never offered either an x-ray nor a referral to one of their hand specialists. I do not have insurance so I was told that I owed a certain amount prior to the first appointment and was charged extra due to choosing a waterproof cast. I was also told what subsequent appointments would cost. In between the first visit and when the cast was to be removed I had received numerous bills for different amounts by text, mail and email. I continued to have pain in the right pinkie so I consulted a hand specialist that one of my clients referred me to. This appointment included an x-ray, which revealed that this finger was indeed broken and the pain was due to the bone sitting on top of the joint. I was told that it would now require surgery to be fixed since it had not been set originally and had already begun to heal. I was also told that the original doctor could have set it and it would now likely be almost healed. When I returned to get the cast off of the left arm I mentioned it to Dr. Gehrman and he said he was not a hand specialist and he could refer me to one of Ortho SC's for a second opinion should I want one. He did not apologize and seemed unfazed by my now predicament. I asked to speak to someone to clarify billing and was told that I would need to call her because she was out of the office. I feel that both the doctor and the billing was unprofessional and will now cost me additional money, pain and time off from work which is unnecessary and avoidable. I would not recommend either Dr. Gehrman nor Ortho SC in North Myrtle Beach. read more

I have been using these facilities for over 8 years for various surgeries. They were originally Strand Orthopedics before the name change. During every visit I have received excellent service. Some doctors have a better "bedside" manner than others, but all are professional and extremely competent. Due to the close proximity of Coastal Carolina University, they get plenty of practice with the athletes and their specific injuries. So I feel confident that the latest techniques are being employed. The convenience of having xray, MRI, pain management and physical therapy all in the same building makes life much easier. The support staff are friendly and makes check in and on going services fast and easy. We are very happy with the service we have received here and will continue to use OrthoSC for treatment. read more

This is a busy office where some compare it to an assembly line but I say whatever works... They are very organized. You walk off the elevator directly into the registration area. There are usually 2-3 people checking patients in. My husband was able to get an emergency visit the day after I called to schedule. When we arrived we did not have to wait long to see the doctor and did not feel rushed when talking him. We were treated respectfully and I was also impressed at the staffs response when my husband was ready to pass out from the pain he was in. Three attendants immediately came in and got him lying down and out of danger from falling or getting hurt. I was also here with my mom for pre and post op hip surgery for both hips. The doctor actually called me to discuss her care when we called the office with a concern. I highly recommend this team of specialists. read more

I just had an amazing PT experience at Ortho SC in NMB,SC. The Physical Therapy Assistant, Wade Moody was very knowledgeable and the proposed goals were met in four weeks. Mr. Moody was very professional and carefully monitored any pain concerns during exercises. He set up a clear and concise program to continue exercise after my dismissal. He was a caring health care partner who was invested in his patient's healing. The PT area was pleasant with many windows and was quite clean. The staff was friendly and welcoming. I was so happy to be referred to OrthoSC and Cheryl Henson, MSPAS, ATC, PA-C at the NMB location! From the time I walked in the door, nervous and unknowing, I was immediately met with a smile and welcomed in. The process was seamless. I was handed gently from one teammate to the other, only after I was walked through the who I would be handed off to and what to expect. The nurse who "triaged" me was very thorough as we walked through my ER visit, when and how my issues started as well as my medical history, meds, etc. When the PA, Cheryl Henson, walked in the room it was like meeting an old friend. Her concern, attention to detail, medical professionalism, as well as her genuine ability to just be HUMAN, are characteristics you do not find in a medical setting often, not here nowadays. I went to see Dr. Chambers for issues with my shoulder. I had 2 previous surgeries on it a couple years ago when I lived in St. Louis. Dr. Chambers wanted to do an MRI so the request was sent to my insurance company. It came back denied because the insurance company needed a peer-to-peer review, meaning a phone do discuss why I needed the MRI. Well, Dr. Chambers never called for the review with the insurance company. When I called to find out why he hadn't reached out to the insurance company, I was told that Dr. Chambers doesn't do peer-to-peer reviews. So, he either didn't want to treat me and that was his way out, or he really doesn't do any peer-to-peer reviews and loses patients because of it. An MRI typically requires a review with the insurance company. I don't believe that Dr. Chambers doesn't do these. I think, based on his diagnosis that my pain is very difficult to treat, he didn't want to mess with me. Either way, I now have to find a new doctor and have them order an MRI. Very disappointed in OrthoSC. I will never recommend them to anyone. read more

I attended OrthoSC PT in Conway and was very disappointed. Being right next to the hospital and all the surgeons I expected excellent therapists and some physical improvement. They're very busy and have many therapists of varying knowledge so I never knew who I would be working with at each appointment. The main therapist was a 'traveling' one which might work for nurses in hospitals but not for therapy personnel. By time I saw the billing (which I believe included therapies I did not receive) for my 3X a week for 2 months, this therapist had 'traveled' on. And when I stopped going I didn't feel one bit better. I would not attend any of their locations. read more

Been a pain patient for 12 years with same provider no lates in 12 yrs, compliant pt, never popped on pee test, no outstanding balance, did all recommendations injections- physical therapy etc....nothing note worthy on my 12 years with same provider. If I could give them 0 stars I would. I have been trying to get into this organization since the end of October. I went online in October and set up my appointment for 12/14. At the beginning of December it got canceled. When I called no one could give me a reason for the cancellation, but they rescheduled my appointment for two weeks later even though I continued to emphasize the pain I have had. As I got close to this appointment date, I received my check in email, the following day my appointment was again canceled! Again I called and was told this was for unforeseen circumstances. They apologized and tried to set me up with another doctor in the practice. I explained that if I wanted to see another provider, I would have already requested to see them! The office manager then calls and offers an apology and stated, the provider has not been able to get operating room time and needs to do a complicated surgery this day. This raises another concern for me, if he is unable to get OR time in three different facilities that I know he practices at, will he be able to get me scheduled or provide appropriate follow up after surgery. This practice does not appear to have concern for the community that they are located. As a medical professional, I was able to obtain knowledge about who I wanted to perform a knee replacement on me due to specific treatment that this provider offers. Spending your days in pain while working is not a way of life. I followed all correct procedures to get an appointment and keep getting them canceled. I now choose to head up to North Carolina to be seen by my previous provider and will continue with them to have my knee replaced. Sad that it is so hard to get an appointment in your local area by a provider due to unforeseen circumstances when the appointment had been scheduled for almost two months! read more

My pain management doctor suggested I have an MRI, and suggested this facility. They accepted my insurance, United Healthcare, and the receptionist was efficient and I was in, having my MRI in just minutes. My wait time was truly insignificant. The radiology tech helped me to a room and I had changed my blouse and removed my jewelry. I have had these tests before elsewhere, but the technician here was so attentive and concerned about how I was doing, it was relaxing. Before I knew it, the test was over. My physician received the results well before my next visit and it was clear, I have severe arthritis in my neck. He knew the procedure he would perform on me and the results have been amazing. I am very pleased with the care I was provided. I was treated like a human being and not a number. I would gladly go back for any future testing. read more

This place is a total waste of time. My appointments were for thirty minutes, but when I got my bill it was for TWO 15 minutes session. To top it off the first eight or nine minutes of the session is spent on a stationary bicycle or a treadmill. This is still after telling them I just finished 30 minutes on my treadmill at home. It is a total rip-off and they gave me some run around that it was what the doctor ordered. I had SIX appointments, but was smart enough to cancel the last three. I was being seen about one potential procedure for pain management when it was decided I needed a hip replacement worse. This was done and I went home the same evening of my surgery by choice. I was given a handful of papers about my meds with absolutely no idea about a dosing schedule. Thankfully, my daughter got the pharmacist on the phone and worked it out. I was told by the surgeon, if I needed more pain meds just call the office and I would be given them. Well, I have been trying for nearly a week now, 4 phone calls, messages in the patient portal and 1 live promise to issue the refill request "as we speak". Still nada. I took my 90 year old Mother in with Dementia. Because of COVID I as not allowed in the appointment, I then asked for them to call me in my car so I could meet her at the door. They just put her on the curb in 90 degree temperature by herself. Anything could have happened. The women in the office are rude and not interested in any customer service. When signing in, they will let you stand at desk for 10 minutes before looking up to sign you in. Just awful atmosphere. read more
