Whatever you do, DO NOT hire these guys! They are very unprofessional. I wish I had taken the bad reviews seriously, since I'm not the first one saying this. Pete Ortiz came to our house to collect the money upfront, he is all talk... sold us as if the pool would be in great condition every week, but did not deliver it. Not a single week the job was close to be satisfactory. The service is TERRIBLE! Every time someone came to clean our pool (when they actually came), they spent less than 3 minutes cleaning the pool. Did not brush the pool, did not vacuum, barely scooped the grass off. We had to call almost every week to try to get someone to come back to clean it again (when they answered). When we finally got a hold of them, Pete was once again all talk so we heard excuse after excuse and a lot of smarty answers. They are the most unprofessional company I have ever had anything to do with. When we requested a refund, he said we have been too demanding and said that if we kept pressing for a refund, he would purposely hold our money for 30 days. As I said. This is the 2nd pool we've had built in 8 years. We chose Ortiz Pools based off our first few initial meets with Pete, he is straightforward and to the point. We had an idea of what we wanted but because of the shape of the backyard and easement he drew up a plan that best utilized the space we had and what would ultimately go with the flow of the back of the house, we loved his design and went with it. Pete and his crew kept on schedule as planned minus a couple weather related setbacks. Pete immediately addressed any and all questions or concerns we had. We financed the pool through a bank Pete recommended, it was a stress free and very simple process. Our pool is now a couple years old and we absolutely love it, very easy to maintain and the water is always sparkling and crystal clear! Just recently the main pump went out and I texted Pete to get some information so I could purchase a new pump, Pete immediately called me and ask for some info off the pump and said he would get back to me in a couple days.....I got a call the next day saying the pump was under warranty and he would have his crew out there in a couple days to take care of it!!! Well done Ortiz Pools, the crews and especially Pete!! If we every decide to build another pool we will definitely be using Ortiz Pools again, awesome company, great customer satisfaction and a pleasure to work with! read more

Big shout out to Pete and the whole Ortiz Pools Family. We recently had an issue with our pump motor. It was iffy on the warranty after 3 years. Pete had it taken care of and installed in two days. Building the pool was great. Went a little over time but we had several obstacles along the way. (power lines, weather, etc..) Pete was responsive and always tried to make the best happen. The pool is simple but fit in our budget and gives us years of family time and relaxation. Def talk to Pete and team if you're going to build a pool. read more

Ortiz pools exceeded all of our expectations when it came to building our own little paradise in our backyard. Pete coming from an engineering background understand and emphasizes the importance of building a structurally sound pool. Our back yard has a pretty big slope but he was to level it out without being obvious. Water drains perfect around the pool and into my irrigation drains. From the beginning we had great communication and always was aware of the schedule for our pool. The entire process is done by family members so there is no 3rd party contractors that i had to go through. Till this day i still call Pete for concerns or questions and the very next day he has his warranty technician out doing repairs. Great service, amazing pools, and best of all honest and trustworthy! Pete came out and was very respectful and knowledgeable about what needed to be done and timelines for the process...as a salesman, he did his job. So much so that we sent him home with a gift! We had a celebration planned, provided a completion date and were adamant about the importance of the timeline to ensure it would not interfere with this event. We had already received a previous quote from another company and were told by Pete there were specific steps to follow exactly to ensure he, and Ortiz Pools, would not get in trouble from the lender involved in the project, for taking a job from another preferred vendor. We got confirmation of cancelation the next business day (yesterday morning) from the other company, provided a screenshot of the confirmation to Pete and were told that our paperwork was ready (see image for details). That afternoon we responded asking for the bid to be emailed to us, so we could have time to review and asking what time the offices closed. We did not receive a response from Pete or Ortiz Pools that day, or any communication from Ortiz Pools this morning, reaching out at 10:51am with no response. When we called to see why we were not receiving communication from them, my wife was told that they had cancelled our renovation because we asked for a copy of the bid to be emailed to us. No follow up from previous communications asking for office hours to meet to review documents, no follow up to say we are unable to email documents, are you still interested in pursuing the renovation with our company. With a 5-figure investment, a simple ask to review the bid seemed like a fair and standard request. When I called and followed up with Pete, extremely frustrated, because we had cancelled a bid with another company, had a timeline for completion that is now pushed back an additional 1-2 weeks potentially putting this construction to the middle of the event previously discussed, had a verbal commitment of service with Pete (and had proven our commitment by providing confirmation of cancelation with the other company) only to be told that Ortiz Pools was pulling their bid because we asked for an email? Be aware that in the same communication asking for an email, we also asked when the offices closed for us to come and review the documents with Pete at the date mentioned by him (today). We received no communication from Ortiz Pools saying, we close at 6pm when can you make it by...or....we have another client who is ready to sign, but want to make sure you all are still committed before we cancel your project....or....unfortunately, we have cancelled your bid. Just radio silence. Pretty sure this is a valid frustration to present to a company that had already verbally committed to a job, a price and a start date, and knew the importance of the completion date prior to directing us to cancel with another company. In following up with the lender on the renovation, they mentioned that Ortiz Pools had already called them this morning to let them know they were cancelling the bid because we did not show up for a schedule appointment YESTERDAY. As you can see by the communication from Ortiz Pools in the attached image, this was not the case...we were asked to come to the office "tomorrow" in a text message at 2:03pm YESTERDAY. So they gave totally different, incorrect information to the lender to ensure they stay in good standing with that company? Did I mention the comment during the initial visit referencing the detailed steps we needed to take to ensure Ortiz Pools did not get in trouble with the lender? Extremely disappointed that we chose to cancel a project with another company to go with Ortiz Pools. Should've known when Pete provided not so positive feedback on the type of people at ___ Financial. But he can't say that because Ortiz Pools is on their preferred vendor list. Do your homework and make sure that any communication you receive is in writing and don't take a verbal commitment from anyone. read more

Ortiz pools was pleasant to work with from the beginning. I appreciate the straight forward and honest packages they provide with NO hidden fees. There's a reason they are still in business after 40 years, they are great! I dont think they sub-contract except the gunite process which is super great to see the same crew working on your pool each day. They are a family unit (or appear so) and are proud of their work. The owner (dad) even showed up a couple of days to check on the crew and ensure I was happy. There was 1 change I did want with the size of the bench and he got them on it immediately. I was thrilled! Today, the pump seems to have failed. I called them and Pete was quick to answer the call, gather the info and immediately sent over the information for the warranty claim to get started! Now that's amazing service in the midst of the VERY busy season for them! Ortiz warranty is really something to consider as we didn't find anyone that matched it when we were getting bids and designs. We love our pool and the peace of mind with the warranty terms!! read more

Poor business management skills. The Ortiz family has been is business for many years, correct. This is why I selected the contractor to go with. On our first meeting the founder's son (Pete) and I made an appointment. He was late to this meeting. We arrived and he greeted us but failed to introduce himself. Hmmm, okay. We decided to go forward and made an appointment for our yard assessment On the morning of the assessment, he was over 30 minutes late. I advised him of how this had impacted my schedule of cutting short my son's graduation ceremony to meet with him. When I informed him of this he got emotional with me and told me he would not be coming by and was stepping out of "the deal" because I was upset. I asked him to let's continue moving forward, but his mind was made up. Oh well, he's not the only pool builder around. My advice is be very careful. If you are okay with the contractor dictating all of the shots , move forward with them. i was not pleased with his disregard for my and my family's time , even though we were the customers. When I brought it to his attention he decided to back out. All I can say is pool builders are a unique type and be very careful when making a large investment. I'll take my cash money somewhere else. read more

I cannot speak directly about there quality because we didnt end up building a pool but I can tell you they are not in the business to rip you off. My wife and I gave Pete a check to start out pool. He had already begun doing some of the initial things to get our drawings to the loan officer and the HOA. I called him and told him that we were going to have to hold off on the pool at this point in time. He completely understood and gave me a full refund of the deposit that I put down. However from a quallity stand point I called 75% of his references that he gives you when he comes out to quote your pool. Everyone that I talked to highly recommened him and some of the people had even built mulitiple pools with the Ortiz Family. One of his references was another pool builder who used them as a subcontractor. If you are thinking about building a pool I would highly recommend at least giving the Ortiz Family the opprotunity to give you a bid. He was very honest and upfront about certain features on the pool that other companies were trying to push and I confirmed what he told me on several forums which would have cost alot more to do. All in All you dont have a company that is in business for over 40 years only out to rip you off. The other person who posted must have either not taken advice of Pete or never called to have the things fixed. read more

They promise you everything and deliver about an 1/8th of it. And break things in the process and don't make good on their repairs. But worst of all their word is not their bond. Will not return phone calls. If I could give them a negative rating I would. Buyer beware - they are in it to rip you off. We learned it the hard way. read more
