This review is going to be about the Office Experience only. The practice itself has a good few doctors that work there, so if you're looking for a recommendation, I would look at each individual doctor. At this office, it is not uncommon to wait for over 30 minutes for your schedule appointment. While waiting, of course, patients are delighted to listen to the staff's loud conversations detailing experiences at the Medieval Times Restaurant in New Jersey, as well as personal reviews of films such as Fight Club. This lacqskadasical attitude in the workplace is indicative of a lack of passion for the job. How are doctors going to take appointments on time if their staff is slacking, laughing, and ignoring their duties? One would anticipate that Orthopedic doctors understand the need for the bones of any system to be healthy--but not here! The entire practice needs to be restructured. Too many doctors to triage and a slacking staff all leads to unhappy patients. Been a patient there for a few separate incidents. Recently, a broken ankle that required surgery and metal plates. If you happen to break something, get referred to these guys. If it's the ankle or foot, insist to get Dr. Baker. Highly, highly recommended!!! I couldn't wish for a better doctor. He's been absolutely outstanding. Before, during and after the surgery. And if you hand/wrist/carpal tunnel/joint + knuckle pains and other hand problems, consult with Dr. Alter. Highly satisfied with the diagnostics, treatment and care I received. This review is for the Orthopaedic Surgical Associate Office billing practices. These people are crooks. The care was fine but I got hit with a $2300 bill for my son's fracture (excluding the casts). There wasn't any surgery, just for 5 visits where they did an X-ray on his arm and Dr Gennis looked at the X-ray and then said it's a fracture and told us to get a cast. They charged me $1500 for 3 visits before charging me $2000 (which my insurance brought down to $1000) for "fracture care". My high deductible insurance plan brought some of these costs down, but they still want me to pay them $2300 for this. I spoke with their billing department numerous times and they keep pointing the finger towards Dawn, the office manager. Guess what? Dawn won't return my calls -- I've tried the office at least 5-10 times and the first time I called, her voicemail was full. Then the receptionist took a message and said she would call me back. She never did. Then I called 3x and left messages on her voicemail which now had space, but still no call back. This place has brought so much heartache. I don't know what to do. I wish I had never brought my son here. I wish I never heard of this place. I wish I had brought him just about anywhere else. read more

I don't know who wrote a negative review using my profile but they're really great. I had a partial knee replacement by Dr. Prybyla and he's got be the best in the business. Post op care was excellent. I developed water on the knee which he drained promptly. I was up and around in no time, great office, good people. read more

I had complete tear of rotator cuff and bicep tear as well. Having follow-up visits at NEBH they offered me only the traditional repair with very long rehab. sling 4-6 weeks. rehab 4-6 months Dr. Sigman is Top Notch. Explained well the condition, treatment and post care rehab. He set realistic goals for rehab. He is also involved in cutting edge therapies such as the Rotation patch. Having searched throughout Massachusetts, Dr. Sigman is the only physician, to my knowledge, who uses this great adjunct to rotator cuff repair. After several appointments over a couple years, this is the most impersonal medical treatment I've ever received. It would seem that they've mastered the science of moving patients through the facility with the greatest efficiency, in that the bulk of my time has been spent providing data to data-entry professionals, and the medical professionals spent a minimum of time reviewing the data and providing canned responses that were ineffective and outrageously expensive (for my insurance). At times they're recklessly rushing through examinations and treatments. I had to tell more than one provider , "PLEASE don't grab me like that". I would tell them this ahead of time, and still they'd mis-treat the injury, and look confused when I would repeat the same instructions. This has happened several times. read more

This place is horrible all the care about is money and not patient care. Waiting room is not Covid-19 friendly. Will deny patient care even for child in pain with injury if you have a balance. Not understand even if you are working with your health insurance company. Also never sends out bills for balance due and makes up balances from years prior. Just left the office, this was absolutely the best visit to any business I have ever had! From the front desk, to Dr. Moses, and the check out person they were all exceptional. They were all extremely personable, helpful, and through. First time there, the woman at the front desk was very friendly and plesant. She even helped me plan out a better story for how I got hurt since the actual reason is so boring. I completed my paperwork and was taken in quickly. Dr. Moses came in shortly and was very personable. He took the time to explain my injury and the treatment for it. He even drew a picture and when I mentioned I was going on vacation soon gave me extra tips to help my recovery faster. As I checked out, the friendly woman managing that made an appointment for me with a PT office. Dr. Moses stayed and worked with her while she talked with the PT to make sure I got an appointment ASAP. Dr. Moses did this while giving me tips for my upcoming vacation and greeting other patients coming in. Everyone maintained their friendly outgoing care as I left. We have seen Drs. Wu, Gerber, Moses, and Alter from this practice. My four-star rating comes with the caveat that I do not recommend the hand surgeon, Dr. Alter, but we were pleased with all the other doctors we saw here. Dr. Wu treated our daughter's scoliosis and he was quite pleasant, communicated well and seemed knowledgeable. We did end up taking our daughter to a doctor at Children's for reasons that have nothing to do with Dr. Wu. We were very happy with him and would definitely recommend him. I saw Dr. Moses for a shoulder problem - he was very thorough and and easy to talk to and as an added bonus, has a nice sense of humor. He prescribed some PT and eventually a cortisone injection and I am happy to say I was able to get back to all my activities within a couple of months. I also saw Dr. Gerber once when he was the on-call physician for Dr. Alter. He had a wonderful manner - very kind. He also seemed very thorough and I like that he dictated his office note during my appt. The staff seems quite competent. They could be friendlier but they always seem busy and stressed so it's probably asking too much. The office communication is one important area where I think they could use some improvement. When I first started going there it was impossible to get through on the phone and even when you did, it wold be quite a while before anyone returned your call. I was told that they don't return calls until after 3. They recently instituted a new phone system where you can leave a voice mail for the appropriate person but again there were times when I never received a call back. The Lowell location is kind of a pain to get to. I prefer to go to the Westford location. Both waiting rooms could use some work though, especially the Lowell one which seems a little dirty (probably because it's dark). The Westford one is clean and bright but they need more chairs. A coat rack wouldn't be a bad addition either. read more

My son went to see Dr. Alter regarding a break in his hand, and I have to say that everything about the visit made me question why this doctor has any patients at all. Dr. Alter goes out of his way to let you know that he thinks he is intellectually superior to everyone around him. He talks down to his patients, but you quickly realize that this is just a cover up for his own insecurities. When looking at the X rays that we provided, he immediately dismissed them as bad quality, but could clearly see from them that the fracture was non displaced, and told my son that he would most likely no longer need a splint. When asked if this could mean the injury did not require surgery, his response was "let's not jump the gun YET". The minute he left the room, my son asked if people normally jump the gun AFTER they have all of the data? With all of his intellectual superiority, he doesn't even know that the expression doesn't make any sense when you add "yet" to the end of it. I'm sure he also is a fan of word "irregardless". When asking my son what happened, Dr. Alter interrupted him before he could finish and made the incorrect assumption that he got in a fist fight. He could not be bothered to listen for the extra 10 seconds to learn that he was an assault victim, or to answer any of his questions on the healing process. In addition, the entire office is straight out of the 1970's - he has no computers in the exam rooms and still has his office staff transcribe the office summaries via DICTATION! What does this mean to you? It means that it is nearly impossible to get a summary of your visit. Because my son was the victim of an assault, we needed the summary ASAP for the district attorney. While most doctors type up a summary before they exit the exam room and it is handed to you as you walk out the door, this office refused to print it or mail it, and told us the only way to access the summary is to go to their online portal. The kicker is, that no one in the front office has any idea how to instruct you on how to access the portal as a new patient. I offered to drive all of the way back to pick up the summary the next day. They said that they would charge me for it and they could not guarantee that it would be ready. I will also back up other reviewers that have stated that NO ONE answers the phone or calls back when you leave messages. Are you kidding me? Absolutely no sympathy that this was an assault case. So, a full 10 days later, we still don't have the summary. Save yourself the frustration and go anywhere else, as this physician, with all of his perceived intellectual superiority still hasn't taken even basic steps to modernize his office or to hire competent staff members. Even first year medical students would do a better job. read more

I've seen Dr. Wu off and on for almost 8 years due to ongoing knee problems. He's performed 2 surgeries with a third scheduled to replace my ACL. He has been professional, courteous, and has always taken the time to communicate with me about treatment options and his rationale for the procedures that I have needed. I have never felt rushed during an appointment nor I have felt that I've undergone unnecessary treatment. I've been to all 3 office locations - I prefer the Nashua location because of the significantly bigger waiting area - Westford's waiting room is pretty tight and I don't really care for the Lowell location due to parking (though it's free off of Middle St., it is often full when all the doctors are seeing patients) and the waiting area is a bit depressing (poor lighting and crowding). The staff are okay - I've really only had significant interaction with Heidi, Dr. Wu's secretary, and I find her to be timely in her return calls and able to track down information for me if I have a question after my appointments. The reception area can be a bit rowdy (particularly in Lowell) but I've not seen anything to make me question their professionalism. read more

I saw Dr. Gerber. This place was actually a second referral from my daughter's PCP because the other place couldn't get us in right away. Took my daughter in to get a cast removed. They gave us an appointment for 3:15pm. Picked up my daughter early from school. Showed up and there were like 15 people waiting ahead of us. We waited over an hour and a half. I finally told them I had to leave. They made us wait until 5:30 to call us in. Felt more like going to the ER. I respected their appointment time, why didn't they respect mine? When the doctor finally took the cast off my daughter's leg, he burned her with the machine. She's usually very brave, but she screamed this time. She's 7. I was also running late to pick up my son from after school and had to call someone to do it for me. I never expected to spend almost 3 hours there. They have no respect for people's time and treated us like we were just a number. Very unhappy with this place and I am never ever coming here again. read more

The office staff is unprofessional, uncaring and cruel. When you attempt to complain to the assistant manager of the office Martha, she laughs at you, and tells you she doesn't have time to listen to you about the care you received months ago. Missing the point of the lack of professionalism of the office and lack of communication to their patients, she attempted to hang up on me but I had her give me the name of her manager and of course had to leave a VM and will probably never get a return call. Not to mention Dr. Alter's rude and arrogant behavior, he never examined me and wrote in his note I have full range of motion...I can not touch my own shoulder. I'm not an orthopedic surgeon but I know that is an incorrect statement. Maybe if he had taken the time to examine my arm he would know this. I still have not received a call back about the results of the MRI or a call back regarding my plan of care. Now I have to start again from scratch with a different MD. I do not recommend this office at all for any reason at all. I hope someone will read this and go elsewhere for their care. read more

I saw Dr. Prybyla as a second opinion last May (2010) after having had a total Knee replacement at another "big name hospital" in Massachusetts 15 months earlier. I had problems with my knee right from the beginning after the replacement. After seeking a few different types of therapy and only continued to get worse, I was given Dr. Prybyla's name. At our first meeting he was very friendly and upon just looking at my knee he immediately knew I had a big problem. He did some tests in the office that morning and then sent me over to the hospital for blood work. My knee turned out to be severely infected and before I even had a chance to make it home , he called me on my cell phone to explain just how serious things were. He informed me that I would need surgery on the very next Monday! He called me a few times over the weekend to update me with incoming lab results and to see if I had any further questions and also just to reassure me. My whole experience with him having two surgeries and an additional hospitalization in the middle of the surgeries was approximately 5 months long! I can't think of a better Orthopedic Surgeon that I would ever consider going to.!! read more

I was let with no option other than to reschedule a new patient appointment. Physician running about 1.5 to 2 hours behind schedule. General impression of the office was that of a "cattle call". I hope the appointment that was reschedule (yet another two weeks away and more pain) will not be a repeat of my first experience. read more

Dr. Eric D Holstein has now treated my dad twice for his two different shoulder injuries. In both cases, the doctor has provided his best interest in taking care of my dad. His staff is equally competent in arranging appointments, providing paperwork and treating the patients. I would recommend him for anyone who does not have time for a second opinion for any major decisions. read more

It is hard to get appointment in this clinic. I am new patient. First time I called 24th Jun, called 3 times that day, all call redirected to voice mail. I left voice mail, but no feedback. I again called them on Thursday, no feedback. Monday 29th redirected call to billing department as it was accident case, but no one was there and again I left voice mail. Perhaps I got call back form billing department and they took all insurance and incidence information. Also they asked me what is happening and where is pain, which I explained. Receptionists wanted to know detail of injury, I couldn't explain it. After that no call back, finally got call back today 9th July after 15 days saying that some problem with my auto insurance. I feel this is very ridiculous. This is my first Dr/Specialist visit so far. I heard Massachusetts is NO 1 in providing medical care. I can see that. Please reply to this post and let me know if I am doing anything wrong. I might not fully aware of procedure but I would like to give "0" stars.
