I have been visiting the Osage Restaurant since they offered their first brunch. It was absolutely amazing!! For a year and a half or so we were so excited to take every friend or family member that came to town there. While it is still beautiful beyond belief the quality has dwindled each time until the time before this last visit when I vowed not to return. I went back on this occasion at the urging of some friends that wanted to take their spouses "somewhere nice". While I have paid for several visits that have been lacking (some awful) since the beginning this was the worst. We arrived with reservations to a mostly empty restaurant, at which point we were informed that there was no table available. We proceeded to the bar and sat at a empty "unavailable" table. The bartender seemed to be irritated that he had to pour beers and make drinks. The bourbon I requested and have had there several times "they didn't have", even though the there is a bourbon and wine bar downstairs that is part of the restaurant. No problem other than irritation at laziness or maybe a perceived view that maybe we may not tip well (we were dressed casually). Wife says I'm rambling now and I'm getting bored. Looong shortened a bit. The service stinking sucks recently and food especially Brunch has gone way down hill! My friends will not be able to talk me into going back. read more

We had one person at our table order an appetizer, when the bill came we were charged $25 for each person at the table which adds up when you have 11 people. I'm think you pay for the views more than then food. But the views are for small party (less than 4) where you might sit at the windows. Overall, the food is not impressive, I ordered lamp rack & it's not impressive at all when I look at it. For that price, I was expected more than just an empty plate with little veggie. We don't mind paying for good food but this meal was far from it. 3 out of the 4 of us ordered halibut - do NOT order halibut here! The short ribs entree was nice but none of us cared much for the fish. Mine was down-right inedible. Crispy on the outside and very oily - tasted like it was deep-fried. Ed P. is spot on in his review of the Caesar salad. Our server was stretched too thin and didn't notice that I barely ate any off of my plate - a red flag to an observant person. I didn't make a fuss because it was a special occasion. Come for the view but high-priced food is apparently hit and miss. I have come to Big Cedar since I was a little girl but never made it up to the Top of the Rock--while it would be cool to have seen the evolution like I have on the main resort, I'm sort of glad I waited because I was absolutely blown away this week by the food and service at the Osage Restaurant. We happened to come on two days in a row when they were switching between their summer and fall menus. Though the food is quite pricey, the entire experience that comes with the dinner is entirely worth it. The staff are attentive and full of great knowledge and suggestions about everything on the menu--they were also super understanding when I wanted to order off the set menu of our group since I don't eat meat. Our server actually remember my drink order night to night which I was very impressed with. We dined in the Osage atrium which has an incredible view of the lake and golf course. I loved the seasonal menu options and how fresh both my vegetable entrees were. The appetizers were large and varied and the bread was delicious! I am truly heartbroken at our experience at Osage tonight. We made a reservation well in advance of our 29th anniversary - and with excitement arrived a bit early to our special dinner. Hostess asked us to sit outside since no tables were available and we were happy to comply. It was beautiful outside! We waited a long time to get our drinks, our salad came out pretty quick but no silverware, napkins or bread service. After over an hour or empty drinks, no bread and no check ins from the wait staff, our meal came out all wrong. We decided to go but wanted to share our experience with the manager who didn't even offer an apology. We were prepared to spend a good amount of money for our special night and ended up without dinner and very frustrated. Since our reservation was at 8 and we didn't get out of there until about 9:30 - with no meal, we ended up at a dive bar for our 29th since Branson closes up on a Sunday night! Needless to say, we won't be back - you lost a potential long term customer who has always supported Bass Pro with many high dollar purchases. read more

Brunch is where Osage shines -- incredible spread, with excellent prime rib, decadent French toast, and blueberry flambe atop white chocolate pound cake! Plus, unlimited mimosas. Buffalo Bar (downstairs) at sunset is worthwhile, especially for the view and the sunset ceremony. Hit up the apps and salads. Try the Cannonball drink! Dinner upstairs on Thursday was just ok -- busy and we rarely saw our server (or full water glasses). Mushroom risotto was great. Lamb and grits was very good. The rib eye was a tad overcooked and under salted. Glad we went back for brunch and had great service and food! read more

There is a reason T.O.R./Osage Restaurant has zero Michelin stars. If you are going to charge $786.00 for a bottle of Opus One, and if your entrees are in the $40 to $75 range, you darn well better have great food and great service. My friend and I arrived Sunday 5-ish, and were seated quickly. The restaurant was half full, upstairs, downstaires, and outside. We waited 10 minutes for a server to notice us, and finally got menus. We waited some more for our server to come back. Waited and waited for salads. 40 minutes in we finally got salads. Bread was dropped off along with some tasty butter. Still no wine, even tho I'd ordered it with the salads. Wine came after I was finished with my Caesar salad, which was good, but not great. The menu is somewhat limited. Baked brie with the bacon jam came and was excellent--absolutely excellent. After 55 minutes our entrees came, along with a side of Brussels Sprouts with what was called Pancetta, but in reality was chunks of extra-thick bacon fried to 55 on the Rockwell Hardness scale. All this time the music was just.... too loud. It was electric guitar music, turned up so loudly as to interfere with conversation. I asked a waiter to turn the music down. He said he'd try but didn't know if that was possible. 15 min later when our server came by to ask how we were doing I asked for more butter, and also asked her to turn the music down. She left but the music blared on and the butter never came. The Brussels Sprouts were OK, but not really very tasty. The mashed potatoes were supposed to be garlic mashed potatoes, but one had to imagine the garlic, as I couldn't taste any. The music switched to modern country music, but blared on just as loudly. I asked a third server to turn the music down, but still it blared on. We finished our meal. Waited some more for the check and left. $210 on the food, for 2 of us, and a $33 tip. We walked out a little before 7. Almost 2 hours. Were someone to force me to return, I'd only order the appetisers--the entrees are not worth it. read more

We were celebrating our anniversary, I had made a previous reservation requesting a window seat by the lake. Carlos the assistant manager was very professional and accommodating. The food is not over the top great but good after a glass of Prosecco. The ambiance at Osage Restaurant and view are fabulous; the sunset ceremony is definitely an added touch. They also have a bagpipe 'sundown' celebration which is neat also. One word of warning, unless you are staying at the resort it cost $10 just to get into the property. The view is amazing and the food we ordered was tasty, not sure it was worth the total bill but it was a special occasion. The server was very friendly and helpful. Drinks were over priced. The thing that ended the evening on a sour note was before leaving, I visited the men's room to wash my hands and it smelled horrible. I mean like an outhouse horrible. They use waterless fixtures. Our group had a FABULOUS time at Osage restaurant!Pointers for future dinees- make sure you get the appetizer platter that includes the scallops. The scallops are absolutely AMAZING here. Talk about a great start to an amazing meal!! The dessert was also a memorable piece of the whole meal. The gooey cake and brown butter ice cream... is most definitely the reason why I will be back!! The food was delicious and I had Gooey Butter Cake for the first time, which was an experience in and of itself. Also, for the GOT fans, make sure you go down to the dungeon wine cellar. Spinach Artichoke dip was excellent Caesar Salads were a big disappointment....greens were nice but the dressing was not creamy and lacked flavor and anchovy taste. LONG wait for entrees. Portions were small (fried chicken) and the prices were more for the view and the sunset ceremony, than the amount of food for the dollar. Didn't find out til we got home that the waitress overcharged us for an additional salad. On the upper pation the recorded sounds of the frogs were loud and distracting. I am an associate of Big Cedar and on March 29, 2024 I took my wife to Osage to celebrate our 38th wedding anniversary. The Team #2 at the bar were so friendly and helpful. We had a reservation at Osage at 8p.m. The Hostess greeted us by name and said Happy Anniversary and Team#99 was our waiter. We were seated at the most beautiful table with a view of the lake and He was wonderful. So courteous and friendly and The food bone in ribeye and Sea Seared Scallops were the best we ever had. He brought us a glass of Champagne on the house and ooey gooey butter strawberry cake for dessert to celebrate our anniversary. It was the best dining experience of our lives. Osage Restaurant is located in the picturesque Ozark Mountains at Top of the Rock preserve. The restaurant is beautifully decorated, the architecture stunning and wonderfully honors the Osage people, who called the area home. The menu included many tasty sounding choices... it was difficult to choose. Ultimately, I ordered the grilled halibut over crushed fingerling potatoes with a white wine reduction. It was pretty good but should have been plucked off the grill a few minutes sooner. In my opinion the quality of the food fell short of the prices. I will likely return to the restaurant because I love the view and the area, but I feel the prices are preventing five stars. read more

So, I've been coming to this restaurant since its early days--long before its renovation and reopening--back in the 90s when I ordered their 4 oz filet as a 4 year-old. It is always MAGICAL. The food is phenomenal. The views are unbeatable. The experience is unparalleled. Most recently we came to celebrate my mother's birthday. Our waiter, Vitally, made our evening extra special. His suggestions were out of this world delicious--from appetizers, to wine, to dinner, to dessert (SO GOOD--a pumpkin gooey butter cake with cinnamon ice cream). All of this coming from a former food writer. . And his genuine joy further amplified our own. My family of 15 came to Branson for vacation. We saw an advertisement for a fancy "5-Star Restaurant" that we were all very excited to dine at. We got to the restaurant and it was very dark inside and had a terrible mood. The food portions are small and the prices are expensive that do not equal the quantity. Atmosphere outstanding so I wanted to give it 5 stars; however, the food was absolutely horrible. The "shareable" sides were not enough to share. The pasta had 4 noodles and 2 small pieces of lobster. The mushroom pasta was spicy like Thai, which was not an accurate description on the menu. The kids Mac and cheese was the Smokey Mac and cheese from the adult menu. Not exactly kid-friendly. The waitress was okay, but you would think a manager or someone would help her with our party of 15. We spent over $850, and you would expect better service and food at a venue like this. I'm pretty frustrated. My family and I have stayed at Big Cedar and had a great time in the past. So my son and his girlfriend drove over 2 hours today to spend their 2 year anniversary in Branson and eat at Osage. They have worked hard and saved their money to eat at this restaurant. They were seated and that was it. Yep. No one ever came back. No drink order. No we will be with you in a minute. Other tables that came in after them were waited on while they were still waiting just to place their drink order. I hate to assume, but I almost feel like they were judged by their age, they are only 19. Maybe they didn't think they would tip them, I'm not sure. They had saved plenty of money to eat there and to give a good tip. We as a family will NEVER go to Big Cedar Lodge, Osage or anything associated with them again. Seven of us for Thanksgiving dinner at Osage. Service was mediocre, at best. At 75.00 per person we expected much better food and service. We asked for a large salad, no meat, cheese, or dressing for one person instead of any listed entrees. They offered a salad so it wouldn't be a problem. We explained what was needed three times. She told him she is on a plant based diet and didn't want the soup, entree, and dessert, just a very large salad. The soup (lukewarm) and salad was served to all of us, no plain salad for our daughter. Entrees served and no salad for our daughter. We were charged for a meal she didn't touch. We didn't ask for or expect a lesser fee for a salad BUT we didn't get the salad. The turkey was dried out and tasteless. The sides were good, served family style. However, they would have been better if they were hot. Based on our experience we will never return. read more

Brunch review: Best french toast, prime rib and, oddly enough, pot roast I've ever had! View was fantastic and over all the food was pretty good. Nice cheese and meat station. All set up very well. For the price tho, I would say it didn't deliver. Staff at Worman House brunch was fine dining level. Here, very mediocre but they were polite. Dessert was actually pretty terrible. Weird gritty oatmeal banana milkshake, misnamed desserts (coffee mousse was just chocolate, and pb chocolate cheesecake was actually a chocolate cake with coffee cinnamon mouse icing- don't know what happened there?), old tasting pastries, candy that will pull your teeth from your head, and a tasty strawberry shortcake mousse that was WARM. Overall, out of 5. Food was a 4. View was a 4 1/2 (February). And desert was a 1. Service was a 3. Atmosphere/decor was a 5+. Price: 0. read more

The location, with its stunning vistas and sunset views can't be beat. But it is after all a restaurant, and unfortunately, our experience there did not match the mouthwatering views. First, we were a group of 12, and we were told we couldn't all sit together, that they could not join tables together. Admittedly, we didn't have a reservation, so we managed as best we could. We ordered the fondue for appetizers, and could not distinguish any of the flavors except cheese, it could have been any old cheese dip from a jar. The spinach dip was excellent. For my main course, I had the Charred Rack of Lamb. The lamb was delicious, it was tender, juicy, and full of flavor, but the side of potatoes and veggies was ordinary. My husband ordered the pizza, and he regrets it to this day. He ended up just eating the toppings because he said the crust was not inedible, it wasn't crispy, instead, it was chewy, soggy, and heavy. My friend wanted to split an order of chicken with her son, and she was told that for an extra $5, her son would get his own plate (empty) to eat out of. I don't know, am I an ignorant, country bumpkin for thinking that charging $5 for an extra empty plate is ludicrous? I also ordered a cocktail, The Cannonball, it's cute, served in a little cannonball glass, but it was too sweet, and watered down. Still, I don't regret our visit, it was our first time there, because it's a beautiful property. But next time, we will have dinner elsewhere. read more

Visiting from California, our first time here and staying at Big Cedar Lodge. We tried this restaurant Sunday evening and have never been so disappointed and treated with such little care. The ambiance is lovely. Our server was cold and uninterested at best. It took a minimum of 30 minutes to get our drinks, and additional 15 to get our appetizers. An hour and a half later we still did not have our entrees. There was an elderly couple that was sat at the same time we were that had finished eating and had left the restaurant. We only had a party of 4 and didn't order anything extravagant. There was a family of three seated next to us. They were seated shortly after us with a small child. We were joking around with the mother and she commented that she was surprised they hadn't yet brought their young daughters food. To our surprise their entrees arrived before ours. At that point I asked the waitress if there was a problem. She said the kitchen was very busy ( although by this time the restaurant was clearing out)and had NO sense of urgency to try and expedite the matter and no further explanation. After about 10 more minutes we all got up and walked to the hostess desk to ask for the check and to speak with the manager on duty. The manager wanted to box our still unprepared dinner up for us. We polity declined and paid for our appetizers. I would never recommend this restaurant for any reason. Very overpriced, the appetizer portions were minuscule at best.
