Spectacular as was this year's Winter Wine series, the first dinner of Spring was bursting with the promise of renewal. The irony of the first course is I always associate persimmons with Autumn but they were perfect in the arugula salad. I feel guilty about my seafood allergy usually requiring at least one substitution but what I was treated to instead of the octopus (which everyone else raved about) was the pistachio crusted lamb lollipops from the restaurant's main menu. Lamb, and green... what better expression of Spring? I would say that was the best lamb I have ever been served but it only displaced the last time I had it at Worman. The tortellini and striploin were scrumptious as well but the dessert tonight was over the top. Several of us commented that we'd never be satisfied with plain ol' strawberry shortcake again. I've tried myself to put an Italian spin on this summertime staple before by macerating the sliced, sweetened berries in balsamic then whipping flecks of minced basil into the cream. Like a caprese salad, the resulting green, white, and red are an homage to their flag. But the inclusion of limoncello was absolutely inspired! Service, as always, was in a league all its own. But I was especially aware this dinner of the artistry of whatever small army of platers there must be hidden back in the kitchen. Whether it's a more intimate wine dinner in the library or we take over the restaurant proper like at Celebration of Tastes, every course comes out looking as consistently beautiful up and down the table. Growing up in a family of 4 kids, Food FOMO was a real thing. My poor mother had to keep track of whose turn it was to get the coveted dab of bacon in a can of pork & beans or sliver of cherry in fruit cocktail. An experience that put our whole stay at Big Cedar over the top! Can't think of a better way to celebrate our 10 year anniversary. This spot has the best reviews of anywhere connected to Big Cedar, and it's easy to see why. The atmosphere, situated overlooking the lake in a former railroad magnate's summer home, is top tier. You can imagine the parties thrown here in the 1920's. The ambiance adds so much, but the food was stellar as well. The bread service included some kind of cheddar cheese bread (I think?) that was delicious. I ordered a classic ceasar salad that was very good, and the bison tenderloin which was absolutely the right call for what I was after. It was perfectly cooked (I went medium), over rosemary whipped potatoes with broccolini. It was so flavorful, and so filling in a good way too. No frou-frou sized portions here. Service was wonderful, as we lingered and drank wine, then capped our meal off with an apple strudel, topped with vanilla ice cream. The whole space was so cool, including the cocktail bar downstairs, which is must-visit in my opinion. A highly memorable date night, and world's better than all the other restaurants around! read more

We came in on a Saturday during a snowstorm. Many reservations times opened up due to cancellations. We arrived 10 minutes early for our reservations, the place was pretty empty however they still made us wait until 5 minutes after our reservation time. We had requested a window seat which quite a few were available and they tried to seat us elsewhere! Already I had a bad taste and I hadn't even sat down. After about 3 more minutes she seated us by the window. We were there for a friend's birthday celebration and wanted it to be special. Her husband told the server. My husband ordered the Worman's Manhattan. He really enjoyed the current infused rye whiskey in it. It added a very unique flavor to the drink. We were brought a complimentary chef's taste of a goat cheese on a small bagette and small glass of sparkling wine. My husband ordered the seafood pot pie and I had the French onion soup and winter spice cranberry salad. The soup was very good and flavorful but the salad was average and definitely not worth the price. My husband enjoyed the seafood pot pie. It was a very generous serving . He shared some with me. It was very rich and creamy. I didn't particularly like the mussels and clams still in their shells inside the" pie" however the pot pie is just pastry crust over a cast iron pan with the creamed sea food. After the meal we were given some stale macaroons with filling that tasted like frosting. There was No acknowledgement of my friend's birthday. We decided to walk down to see Harry's cocktail bar downstairs before calling our shuttle. The manager came into the bar in a bit of a hurried frenzy as we were walking out and asked if it was someone's birthday. We pointed to our friend and he told her happy birthday and then left?!?! Overall I was disappointed in the experience for the amount of money we spent. read more

Food great, service excellent. For whatever reason, the area we were seated in had seats that were too low for the tables. We felt like little children trying to eat our steak dinner. Far from ideal. The duck fat fries were way underdone and we sent them back and when they came back to the table they were closer to burned on the outside and still underdone in the middle. It's the best restaurant in big cedar in terms of food by far. Wine list is great and has some non bulk choices that are well selected. Food is great. I'd say the best dish was the scallop appetizer which is served over a risotto - both are excellent and you could easily make a meal of it. But everything we ordered was really outstanding and the service was solicitous. Highly recommend just having a big dinner every day there and then just only lunch or breakfast there or in Branson and a lot of outdoor activities.... read more

If you're looking for a classy fine dining experience in the Branson area, The Worman House is a must. In our experience, everything about it lived up to a high standard. It was a perfect romantic atmosphere for us to celebrate our anniversary. The cocktails seemed high quality and I loved the Havana High Life myself. Chilean Sea Bass is perhaps my favorite entree so I was excited to try theirs. The flavors, portion size, and plating were all outstanding in my opinion. I certainly savored every bite. I rarely feel compelled to write negative reviews, especially of restaurants that position themselves at the higher end of the dining spectrum. Unfortunately, my recent experience was so profoundly disappointing that it warrants an honest account. Shortly after being seated, we were placed directly beside a group of roughly twelve men who appeared to be having some sort of fraternity reunion. What followed was astonishing and entirely inappropriate for a restaurant of this supposed caliber. The group was extraordinarily loud, shouting across the table, repeatedly using coarse language, and--most unbelievably--breaking out into loud, boisterous singing, This was not the occasional burst of laughter one might expect in a lively dining room. It was sustained disruption: yelling, vulgar language. At several points it was nearly impossible to hear the person sitting directly across from me. The atmosphere felt less like an upscale restaurant and more like a raucous bar scene. What I found most troubling was that the staff appeared to tolerate this behavior for a considerable period of time. For a restaurant charging premium prices and presumably cultivating a refined dining environment, allowing that level of disturbance to continue unchecked is simply unacceptable. Eventually, after an uncomfortable stretch of time, the restaurant did move us to another table. While the staff member who assisted us was polite, the fact that intervention came so late in the evening was baffling. Dining at an expensive restaurant is about far more than the food--it is about the overall experience: the ambiance, the professionalism of the staff, and the expectation that basic standards of decorum will be maintained. Instead, the evening felt as though we had been transported into something resembling a TGI Fridays on a particularly rowdy night. It was, without exaggeration, one of the worst dining experiences I have had in years. Given the many restaurants that truly understand hospitality and atmosphere, I see absolutely no reason to return. read more

Legitimately the worst high end restaurant I've ever been to. The crab on the seafood tower tasted like they poured an entire bottle of lemon juice on it, the tuna had chunks of frozen fish in it. My steak couldn't of had more salt on it and my friend pot pie somehow had more salt on it read more

We had a great experience at The Worman House...our evening started with a complimentary champagne toast and a chefs tasting bite. Our server Anna, did a nice job going through all the specials they offered that evening as well as answered all our menu questions. The food was very good overall. The Cesar salad, I was not impressed nor the toast they give you. The risotto was very bland so I added salt to it and it changed the taste for me. It was delicious after adding some seasoning. I had the sea bass which was delicious and so was the risotto that came with that dish after adding salt. My husband had the ribeye and that was good too. We had the truffle fries they came out between luke warm and cold, they weren't very good. We had the sea scallops and risotto. Horrible evening. This is heralded as their fine dining restaurant. The dress code is non-existent - men in worn out cargo shorts and tshirts vs pants and a collared shirt. The behavior of other patrons was obnoxious. So loud people asked to move table locations, but management did not address the problem. They kept ordering wine and drinks and getting louder. The gentleman they had playing nice live background music turned in to a concert for them. Clapping, singing along etc. There are plenty of fun restaurants/bars on property - this was to be a fine dining experience with elevated food and service. I complained to the manager and he was aware of the issue, but that was about it. He sent us home with a dessert. So disappointing that people do not know how to act, and that management is too afraid to tell people. This is easily a $300+ dinner for two restaurant that used to be a refined experience. Talk about a romantic night out! We went here to celebrate our anniversary and had a beautiful night. They had a lovely pianist performing her version of wonderful songs and it was the perfect background to our evening. Our server was warm and welcoming with plenty of recommendations. I had the filet and carrots for dinner and I really enjoyed the sides! I thought that the steak could have used just a tad bit more seasoning/sear but the cook was absolutely perfect. This is our third time here in the last few months The food was ok and our server was nice when we saw him he didn't bring us anything maybe that's routine, but the assistant was never the same person maybe still normal but it got co fusing to them because we we like have a drink refill and then someone else would bring us a drink we didn't get charged so I guess they ate the cost or hoped someone else ordered it.? Had dinner last night. Everything was good but very disappointing that the staff allowed a couple to enter the dining room with their small dacshound dog in their arms. Not only did the dog stay on the chair throughout the dinner but also barked. I don't think the health department would approve of any dog seated at the table in any indoor restaurant. read more

Wow, what an experience on every level. Have lived in the area for the last 5 years and are always on the lookout for a great place to eat. Worman House has just became our latest best in the area places to relax, eat and enjoy. Just like many of the JM properties, they do not disappoint with their supper club rustic interior and no TV's. Our waiter Cozmo was professional and Jake the oldies, but goodies singer made the experience over the top. We ordered oysters, tuna poke with the Beet and Caesar salads with the sea food pot pie.
