My primary care physician recommended that I see a pulmonologist to check out a questionable node found on a scan of my lung. My first pulmonologist was not particularly interested, said not to worry, advised me to follow up later -- and then left the area. I told my primary care physician of my experience. She referred me to Dr. Veley. Dr. Veley reviewed my case file and recommended that I immediately get a broncoscopy for purposes of providing a lung biopsy. He thoroughly explained the procedure, which did much to address my initial anxiety. I took his advice. The minimally invasive biopsy procedure found Stage 1 lung cancer. If Dr. Valey had simply accepted my lack of concern or reluctance to obtain the biopsy sample and done nothing, the cancer would not have been found. His knowledge, professionalism, and approach resulted in changing my situation from what could have been a very dire outlook to one of a probable 90% full recovery after completion of what is today a relatively routine surgery. His office staff is equally impressive. After I reported one admin glitch, my concern was immediately addressed. The office manager provided me with her direct line, and her staff continued to check with me to ensure all was addressed and running well. Dr. Veley's personnel told me that they work for him because of his obvious personal attention, care, and concern for his patients. As a patient, I can personally validate for their assessment.

He gave me 2.. 90 day scripts that I had been on for years...that was 3 months ago...I called for a refill for 90 days...last week and I still have not heard back from his front staff and he still has no sent my RX in....I finally called the staff to see what the issue was and I was told I would need to see him to get a refill, I was just there 3 months ago...no one bothers to call me when I made the request....what is it with Dr's. staff and Dr's now days. My PCP that retired was wonderful...saw me once a year gave me a years worth of my usual meds. When I called for t hi staff would get him to fill it the same day! But even with having to be a little tough at times with patients like me that is afraid of getting blood drawn, she still makes me glad she is my doctor. Because she will make sure that both her and her wonderful staff will not let me forget what lab tests I need done. I saw a different GP in Southlake before coming to see Dr Sharif and it's because of this other doctor that I know I'm lucky that Dr Sharif is on my side. The other doctor didn't care at all what happened to me during one of the most stressful times in my life. The other doctor didn't want the complicated patients. But Dr Sharif doesn't seem to shy away from patients that may be hurting both physically and mentally. Anyway, Dr Sharif is by far the best GP/Internist I've found in the area. They both listen to understand and offer excellent medical advice. Each of the nurses and technicians have been kind, engaging and very attentive. I feel comfortable chatting with any and all of them and they even take time to share with me about their own children as I am an educator ! Lab work is opted to the patient portal within a day or two. My prescriptions are provided to my pharmacy before I leave their office. Kind people, professional people.

When my 84 year old mother and I came back with my mother having to stop several times because of dizzy spells, we arrived a mere 10 minutes late and was told they cancelled our appointment. They refused to show us the same courtesy we showed them when we waited 2-3 hours waiting on them. They refused to work her in or acknowledge our time. Their time is more important than their patients time and needs. Definitely not a way to run a practice and definitely not worth more of my time.
