    Adirondack General Store

Awesome lunch ! I enjoyed a Ruben sandwich. It was outstanding! My husband enjoyed a pulled pork sandwich, again wonderful Not only the beef but the roll, yummy We shared onion rings. What a treat! The service and quality of the food and quaint atmosphere is definitely a treasure . Hope to return for the colors of autumn To enjoy another perfect lunch for a road trip. We would love to try the prime rib dinners soon too. Thanks for making us feel special

We stopped in here for lunch after visiting the Natural Stone Bridges and Caves. My wife and I both enjoyed the wrap specials. Very fresh and delicious. Kids had chicken fingers and fries. This place takes pride in what they serve. They have indoor seating as well as covered porch. The service was great. After a pleasant lunch, we shopped the store and picked up some local souvenirs. If your in the area or remotely close, it's worth the stop to eat or shop.

    Only 3 tables.

When is a restaurant not a restaurant? When it's the Adirondack General Store. There are plenty of things to buy that you would expect to find in a general store. But plan on also having something to eat while you're there. There are only about three tables so you may have to share one with others. Seating capacity is probably about 20. But it's one of the nicest ways to meet the locals and new friends. Come here for breakfast or lunch. Now I've never had lunch here so I can't vouch for the various sandwiches made with Boars Head meats, or Oscar's bacon and smoked ham, or the in-house made meatballs. But if they are as well prepared as the breakfasts, then they are not just an excellent value, but they are likely to have you returning every time you visit Adirondack. We were a party of four, before we were asked to share two empty chairs at our table, and were all happy with our meals. My Adirondack Jr. ($5.95) had 1 egg any style, 1 buttermilk pancake (instead of 1 French toast), 1 slice of Oscar's bacon (instead of any other breakfast meat), some home fries, and a choice of toast. A larger version that increases the 1 to 2 of everything is available for $8.95. The highlight of this dish is the Oscar's bacon because it is just sooo goood, but the pancake is light and fluffy, the home fries are tasty, the egg was a perfect over easy, and there was a quarter pound of butter available for the whole table. Real maple syrup is available for an additional $1, but we forgot to order it so I had whatever the non-pure variety might have been. All of it was still very good. My wife had The Spectacle ($7) - a 2 egg frittata with mushrooms, onions, potatoes, and spinach, topped with cheddar cheese. Once again, a larger portion is available with 3 eggs for $8, and meat can also be added for an additional $1.25. My wife said her breakfast was very good also. My sister, a regular here, was happy with having a single Sweet Potato pancake. I don't know what they charged her, but a Short Stack of 2 sweet potato pancakes is available for $4.25 and a Full Stack of 3 is $6. While they do have servers to take you order, you need to pour your own coffee ($2). At least two varieties are available, the dark that I had was rich and bold, just the way I like it. I tasted the Hazelnut also and it was very good. The owners are really friendly people, as is most everyone who comes to the store. Everything is prepared to order, so take them up on their encouragement to relax and chat while there.

I have been coming here since I am seven years old. I have watched it change owners many times over and I am happy to say that the current owners are a great fit. They are lively, energetic and fun. This store is exactly what it says; a general store. They carry everything from newspapers to fishing gear, jewerly, clothing, toys for the kids, novel items, books, maps, old fashioned candy, ice cream, and, of course, delicious homemade jams and pies, breads and cakes. In addition to the many things this store offers, it is a quaint adirondack style meeting place for locals as well as newcomers to gather. They have a few tables inside set up for breakfast and lunch, and you will never be dissapointed no matter what you order. They are open year round for the locals and hunters. Cheers and congratulations for doing this so well. It is a gem.

How does one travel to The ADK and *not* go here? There's something to say about traveling to a place with people -- a family -- that have been traveling there their entire life, and that something to say is: "I feel lucky. You get to experience the handpicked, finely curated tour of said place." This time around... this place. Sure the old gas pumps and the fact that I'm preparing to eat breakfast in a general store has me gitty; but when I see that open, 6 inch diameter'd bowl of homemade jam on our table, that's when I'm about to give this place the business. This is Cracker Barrel not on chain, banal-driven crack. This is the Holyfield. The Real Deal. This place has stood the test of epochs, and doesn't have to be on a freeway exit. The journey began with "we've gotta take Jon to the general store for The Adirondacker." I went with the Adirondacker Jr. -- the same as its namesake, just one of everything instead of two pancakes, two eggs, two pieces of english muffin / toast and choice of two meats. They happily substituted an egg for my choice of meat. If I ever show my face around this place again, I'm just going to buy a loaf of english muffins to be the applicator of the homemade raspberry jam. In the photo you'll see a oval sticker of "SL." I bought it at the General Store. It's my first Oval sticker. I'm proud. Amongst terrific antique posters, signs, nick-knacks, candles, toys, maps, a deli and odds & ends, there are the classic oval stickers & magnets. Go, memorialize your trip and return again for an ideal breakfast after waking up sore from the hike the day before.

It's a proper country one-stop-shop convenience store + deli: sandwiches & salads, coffee, breakfast, wine & liquor, firewood, ice, and some basic outdoor supplies you might find yourself needing in a pinch. I got a 12" Italian sub (swapped out turkey for pepperoni) with a side of vinegar and oil, and it was very good and fresh. Well located and a great pit stop for picking up supplies before you head out for your Adirondacks adventures. Open from 8am-7pm daily.

It's basically a deli and a mini mart all in one. You go to the front and order your food. Then you go through the store, wait in the line, grab soda etc, and then check out. We ordered a pepperoni sandwich for the kids, a ham sandwich for my husband and I had turkey. Mine was turkey on rye with cheese and mustard and is just like an NYC deli. While waiting in line, I spoke to a local postal worker, she agreed, best local deli. You should absolutely stop here if you are in town.
