I had such a terrible experience at my previous OBGYN office and postpartum follow ups with my last pregnancy, but with this 2nd pregnancy it was such a great experience throughout prenatal visits and postpartum. Problems Every Time…read more I am a former patient of Dr.Thompson (excellent) but now teaching, not practicing I found this provider in the yellow pages. I called to become a new patient and was told I had to make an appointment. I went to the appointment. I waited about 45 minutes to be seen. The Doctor came in and was very nice - she asked why I was there. I told her when I called to become a new patient I was told that I had to come in. (I had to take the day off work to do so) she told me that was not necessary and was not sure why anyone would tell me that. She apologized and stated that I would not be charged and I left. On the way out - I stopped at the front desk to fill out a request to have my files transferred. A few weeks later I had an unexpected issue arise that I needed a referral for. I made an appointment and waited, again - about 40 minutes to be called back. The p.a that seen me was great, she referred me to specialist. While I was paying my cooay at the office window I asked if they had received my records. I was told that they did not have a release on file. I told them that I had completed one the last time I was there. She said they didn't have it, so I completed another one. I called to schedule an annual exam today. Nobody from the office had contacted me - and I am a couple weeks past due (I called my insurance provider to see when my last appointment date was so I could figure out if I was due or not) I was expecting that the new office would have contacted me to arrange. I called in to make the appointment and asked if they had ever gotten my records. I was told "No." I called the records holder and they told me they never received a request from the new provider. I called the office here again and asked to schedule an appointment because I am passed due. After giving my name the woman that answered the phone this time said "did you call here earlier" - I replied "yes". This woman stated that it was "funny that I called back" because the "girl" that took my call earlier said I hung up abruptly" (after thanking her I suppose) She said "My Name is Jodi and I'm the Office Manager". I asked if she could schedule my appointment or if I needed to call back at a later time. She said "LOOK! ARE YOU GOING TO HAVE AN ISSUE HERE?" I said - I am trying to make an appointment and you are giving me a really hard time". She raised her voice and said "I THINK YOU NEED TO FIND ANOTHER PROVIDER!" and hung up on me. I was in shock. So much for patient care. :( I cannot imagine being in a crisis or expecting a child and being dealt with in such a hateful, condescending, unprofessional manner. I never had any issue with the health care providers here, but clearly the office is not ran/managed in a way that is conducive to patient care. Until this unfortunate situation is remedied, I would avoid this office completely. I can see having an occasional mix up or hiccup every now and then, but every time I encountered issues with this office, until the final Blow up/Hang up. Not Professional, Not Caring, Not Organized. Very Sad.

So I am writing this review because I am super frustrated as a whole with how I have been treated…read morethroughout this entire process of trying to find a doctor in Peoria. Yesterday my husband and I had booked a fertility consultation with Dr. Overcash. We arrived, and it was kinda hard to find the building but after driving around, I did see it as I had scoured the website and they have a great photo of the location. When I was booking the appt. I explained to the girl on the phone that I am looking for a doctor in the area as we are preparing to have a baby, and my current OB in Chicago recommended I find someone closer. She took all of my information (including the wrong phone number) but never mentioned that it was a patient only experience. When we arrived in the lobby, 2 staff members were behind the counter WITHOUT masks, and a third masked woman who I can only assume was the pitboss or APRN. No one introduced themselves to me, other than to say my husband couldn't be there. I promptly explained we're here for a consultation, and the masked woman said "well, we'll have to clear it with the doctor because we can't be picking and choosing who get preferential treatment." I asked her to do that. I was sent into the hallway by the elevator with my husband to wait and hear back on what the dr. said. It turns out that he wouldn't meet Tyler, and I promptly cancelled my appt. I realize every practice is different, however I'm going to leave this here; if I can go to Walmart, if I can go to work, if I can walk into A DOCTORS OFFICE and see people behind the counter that work there not wearing masks, then my husband can be involved in my prenatal care appointments. There is a serious lack of patient advocacy in America from both patient and family. Some of the questions my husband had were "how many c sections do you perform? What do you consider "dangerous" and how often do you use Pitocin? What is the likelyhood of her having a low intervention birth (due to my issues)?" there were more but you can tell from these that my 25 year old husband cares** and did research into what happens to women and more specifically what might happen to me. Don't you think that merits some concern and I'd also like to state that while sure, he could have teleconferenced in for that, was he expected to miss our ultrasound appointments? Because excuse me but teleconferencing isn't acceptable. And for those of you saying "well what about this that and the other", I don't care. None of that is the case, and this experience has been unacceptable all the way around. My husband is my partner. We are taking on parenting seriously, and if you don't think that starts at conception, and right down to choosing a doctor perhaps you have it wrong.

I was very encouraged by their website and the fact that they treat the whole body, which can include counseling services, which I desperately need. I also work in healthcare and there was an emergency at my work on the day of my appointment, so it completely slipped my mind. I called back and apologized profusely for missing my appointment due to this emergency (I fully understand the impact this can have on a clinic) and requested to reschedule. I was absolutely shocked when the woman who answers the phone told me unapologetically, that they have a zero-tolerance policy for no shows, and they would not accept me as a patient. I literally missed the appointment because I was helping with a patient in my office who was in the midst of a mental health crises, I guess that's some irony for you. They also do not bother to tell you this policy when you schedule your appointment, nor do they offer reminder calls/texts/emails. I understand this is a courtesy for patients, but it is common practice and strange that a "modern" facility doesn't offer this to their patients. Their website presents them as a safe and caring place for women to have their healthcare needs met, but it appears they are only actually interested in their profit margin. While this is not a complete surprise in this day and age, it truly shocked me that there was a total lack of compassion for a woman who is struggling and just had life get in the way that day. Deeply disappointed and not even sure where to turn for help now.

When the surgeon went to remove it, he said it was pushing my bladder almost completely closed, had spread to my lymph nodes, was in my bowels, and somehow into my ureters. My kidneys were beginning to shut down. The oncologist also said he was surprised I could urinate anymore. When they first gave me the news of the "mass" and told me how large it was, I knew that was IMPOSSIBLE because Kindred had just tied my tubes only 3 months before! I really trusted Dr. Kindred. I had been having cancer symptoms for nearly two years and going in for bleeding between my cycles. I felt like I was getting extra menstrual cycles. He gave me my regular gynecological care, which was normal and would take labs and say my hormones needed to be adjusted. Now, I feel like a fool for this, but I trusted him. In the hospital, I had to have an emergency radical hysterectomy. I needed so much cancer treatment that my quality of life is now very poor. I have severe lymphedema in my right leg that will NEVER go away, I now am at risk for lung cancer, my bone marrow is shutting down from all the chemo and radiation, I can't eat a normal diet anymore and have chronic pain in my bladder, leg, digestive tract, vagina, and rectum. Towards my diagnosis date, I definitely realized something was wrong because I started having pain but I NEVER dreamt that I was walking around with advanced cancer. I even had a "normal" pap smear and asked how that was possible. My gyne oncologist told me that is was a poor quality pap smear because he said that there was no way I didn't have cancer when Dr. Kindred took the last smear. The best part is that when I went to get a copy of my chart, he removed most of my visits. Guess he was more concerned about being sued than my health. Doctors are human beings and as a patient, I feel like they are going to make mistakes. I accept that fact and know it's all part of the risk. Dr. Kindred showed absolutely zero remorse for what happened to me as a result of his negligence and took no responsibility. Removing parts of my health record to cover his own ass was inhuman. Doctors have no idea how far taking a little responsibility for a screw up can go for the patient they made the mistake on. I feel like taking the risk and being vulnerable enough to admit you screwed up would probably lower their risk of malpractice. I have recently passed my 5 year treatment anniversary and 38% of the women with my diagnosis make it this far. I'm grateful to be in that 38% but mourn that 62% that didn't make it and even experience survivor's guilt. I'm quite proud of my strength and endurance. Having cancer has certainly shown me that I am quite the fighter, a silver lining, I suppose, and there are many of those for sure. Until Dr. Kindred takes some responsibility for the hurt he has inflicted upon some of his patients, myself included, I wouldn't trust him to euthanize someone's dying pet.

I've got issues and have had about a dozen visits there this year and he will soon perform surgery on me and I feel very comfortable with that. I've not felt like his staff is rude at all, but not overly friendly either. I think they can work on that and smile or chat more. I also think for being such a big, aesthetically nice environment, it would be nice to have water and/or coffee available. I would give five stars, but this doctor is popular and busy and it is true - if you just have an annual exam, it's harder to get in than if you are pregnant or are having other procedures done, and even though I have issues, it's still usually 4 weeks before I can get in for follow ups. Sonograms have been quick and easy and I don't wait in the waiting room for very long, but I have waited almost an hour in the exam room in the past. The exam rooms are a little chilly and could have some reading material in there. Although I wait, when I see Dr. K, I feel like he is not rushing me and will answer all of my questions thoroughly and that is most important. I'd rather him take the time with patients and that way he will take his time with me. There was only one time that Dr. K was not available, so his NP did my exam, no biggie. I also like that Dr. K is an expert in fertility issues and likes to use less invasive homeopathic treatments. He is friendly to my hubby who typically accompanies me to appointments and he likes to joke too.

Procedure went well but still left 2 larger stones instead of one super large one. Was able to pass one of the halves on my own successfully with no problem. Went back in to see Chalian and he ordered that I have the internal surgery that has potential dangers of tearing. I said no, i didn't want to have the procedure and instead wanted to pass it on my own as I had the other with great success. He got very frustrated with me, tell me I was making a mistake. I assured him I was not feeling any of the pain I was before so why have the invasive surgery? He ordered that I have an ultrasound (very spendy ultrasound!) immediately onsite to prove to me that he was right and it was causing my kidney issue. Results came back that my kidney was just fine, no swelling whatsoever. I confirmed that I would absolutely not be having the surgery and never returned to see him again. Passed the stone just fine on my own with no surgery needed. His attitude towards me, a forty year old female, was that of he knew better than I did about what my body was feeling and that he was going to strong arm me into having the invasive surgery. And all this after I was left to wait in the freezing cold room for almost an hour waiting for him to come in. Finally had to peek out to make sure I hadn't been completely forgotten. Otherwise, reception staff were nice, but wait times there were ABSOLUTELY HORRIBLE.
