But he still eventually passed. When we reviewed the drugs he was given when we were settling the bill, we noticed that they went behind our backs and gave him Remdesivir anyway. And with multiple doses per day too. In the end, his main cause of death was from septic shock due to kidney failure.

So both of us ended up with dengue in Metropolitan Hospital, trying our best not to bleed out of our eyes and die. My sister only had second-degree dengue so she got off easy. I, on the other hand, was so close to dying I got sad looks from the nursing staff. My platelet count dropped to 4 -- context: normal number is 300. I wasn't allowed to brush my teeth because if my gums bleed, the bleeding won't stop and I'll die. The best part of that experience was that the whole hospital rallied to save me. The doctors were there for me, the nurses kept sneaking me Jell-O, and some of the staff even donated blood so I wouldn't have to pay for the blood bank. In the end, I survived, and it was thanks to the wonderful people in this hospital.

I always feel like I'm bound to get sicker than actually get well when I come in for a check-up. I was really surprised with my experience at Healthway Medical in Greenbelt. First off, as a medical clinic inside a mall, I had low expectations. So was very happy that they provided such good service, even better than most big hospitals. You come in and it's easy to talk to the people there to find out what the steps are. If you are a new patient, you will be directed to a computer kiosk where you can enter your patient information - very modern! Then proceed to the counter where they will ask you want you what kind of doctor you need. There was less than 5 minutes of waiting time before I was escorted to the doctor's clinic by one of the staff. The doctor was very thorough with the check up and I was satisfied with the result of the treatment. Next time you need medical advice, I would highly recommend seeking it at Healthway Medical. The service there really made me smile.

I was very privileged to have experience the Healthway VIP treatment - there's a separate waiting room with TV (woohoo) and comfy coaches. Tip: make sure you bring a book or a game to play. There's always a lot of people here so you could be waiting and waiting. Also make sure to bring a bottle of water so that when the time comes and you need urine sample, you can easily give it. The whole place is well ventilated, it sometimes gets too chilly for me so I always make it a point to bring a jacket! The doctors here are very nice and super helpful - just ask away and they will try their best to answer you.

My brother would immediately (and while panicking) send me to the emergency room and our first choice would always be UST Hospital. PROS: I had this nasty viral infection a year ago. It had all the symptoms of dengue, except that my platelet count wasn't as low as it's supposed to be when someone has dengue, so it's technically not and it's just a viral infection. That's what the doctors at UST Hospital's Emergency Room diagnosed me with and they made me stay in the ward overnight. They couldn't give me anything though, since there are no antibiotics for viruses. So I had to ride it out while they'd occasionally inject pain meds and hydrating stuff in my IV drip. They actually diagnosed me quickly and cared for me properly, that by the next day, my signs were looking better and I was discharged. CONS: It's probably an expensive private hospital, since you have to pay for everything, even the syringe or the basin you puke on. Thankfully, I have health insurance, so it covered most of the cost; I don't know if it's just a preconceived notion knowing that they *might* still be students or interns, but I found that when they inject me with a syringe, it's more painful and they take more than one try to get to the vein. TL;DR: UST Hospital is a decent private health provider that has really good service and modern facilities.

Our complaint has already reached the UP leadership and the Department of Health, as PGH itself appears indifferent--particularly its doctors, personnel, and departments. My concern now is that they may attempt to distort the facts once this issue is brought to a proper forum. I strongly advise others to disregard comments posted here by PGH employees or UP students. What truly matters are firsthand experiences, and those reveal the reality far better than institutional claims.

I wrote a letter formally documenting a service failure we experienced at Madocs facility yesterday, June 29, 2026. What was supposed a joyous occasion - finding out the gender and checking the growth of my baby, turned out to be a nightmare, and became an emotional distress. We arrived for my scheduled CAS Ultrasound at 24 weeks AOG from our doctor referral slip listing 3 doctors. Their staff informed us that there's no available doctor. No explanations, no apologies. The worst part is, we tried to schedule ahead of time and they mentioned to directly go to OB Gyne Ultrasound Diagnostic Unit and appointment is not necessary. So we woke up at 5am and went their as early as we can. I was at the hospital at 7am. The ultrasound unit opens at 8am. I have waited for 1hour inly to be dismissed without any options provided. We contacted our doctor (Ob Gyne) stating that the doctor (Sonoligist) who she recommended was out. Our Doctor (OB Gyne) asked us to go back to Ob-Gyne Unit and provide our referral slip with 3 doctors on it. The receptionist then informed us that the 2 Doctors are only available Tuesdays and Fridays, and the Monday doctor was absent. No other sonologist was available to perform the CAS. Additional Concern - Staff Conduct: When we were informed that no doctor was available, with simple "Absent ang doctor" with no apology, no acknowledgment of the inconvenience, and no offer of alternatives or next steps. As a pregnant patient who traveled at 5:00 AM, this lack of empathy was deeply disappointing. I had to go back to ask for more options - which she provided the schedule of each doctor. Why this matters: 1. No Contingency Plan: CAS has a limited window. Relying on only 1 doctor with no backup is a systemic risk. 2. No Proactive Communication: As we tried scheduling thru viber, we were advised that there's no online booking and just go directly to OB-Gyne Unit. What is the use of the viber number provided if we are unable to confirm appointment? If we were notified in advance that the doctor would be absent, we wouldn't have to go through this. 3. Poor Patient Handling: Frontline staff should be trained to respond with empathy and solutions, not dismissal. I work in BPO where we are trained to de- escalate and offer alternatives even when service cannot be rendered. For a hospital with the motto "With you every step of the way," I expected better. It feels the opposite to be honest. My request: 1. Implement a backup sonologist policy for time-sensitive OB ultrasounds, or a 24-hour advance notice system if the doctor is unavailable. 2. Retrain frontline staff in the OB-Gyne US unit on empathetic patient handling and service recovery. My concern was never reviewed and thus it wont prevent other mothers from experiencing the same.
