I was visiting from out of town with friends and we were looking for paddle board rentals. We didn't know where to paddle, and didn't really have a way of transporting equipment on our own. We are so greatful to find Osprey Bay Kayaks to solve all of those questions! They transported the boards to Coopers Bayou and we had the perfect amount of time to paddle. We met them at the store to sign paperwork and pay, and had an opportunity to use the restroom before heading out. Call in advance to set up this service. Took my kayak in because of a rutter issue and had them take a look at it to see if they could fix it. Was greeted instantly with rude remarks about my kayak as well. But they ended up getting it "fixed" within the next day so I took it out to fish. Within 5 minutes the same issue occurred and the rutter steering completely stopped working. At least they know how to put a trolley system on I guess. Would've given 0 stars but I can't read more

We came here twice recently. The first time we purchased a couple of paddles and a bunch of accessories (we already owned our kayaks). They have a great selection of kayaks and anything you would need to go along with them. Tom was very helpful, knowledgeable and patient, explaining our options. I have been wanting a kayak since we moved here in 2016. Born and raised landlocked I could not wait to get out on the water. Don't get me wrong, I have had plenty of lake time on a boat, skiing, beaching, etc... but FL is a different game. Finally popped in here the end of May 2021 looking for a tandem kayak that we can use either as a double occupancy or a single. After research we landed on the Native Stingray 13.5, gator green. (It matches the ride.) We "got the call" yesterday, and bought our new gator green Native kayak. Woot! Since we did not have the ride we opted to pick it up today. So, trying to be prepared and a novice I stopped at the local Wmrt and bought foam pad kit with straps and rope (I just wanted to get it home.) Stopped in to grab my new kayak. In under 20 minutes they had me loaded, new straps which were better and more suited to what I needed and off I went. These people know what they are doing. I don't know how often they go out on the water but it is evident that they have been there done that. They flipped that kayak on top of the ride faster than I could say "wait, what?' Then they strapped it down to hooks I did not even know I had which would work for this green gator. Let me borrow some towels so as to not rub the paint and off I went. No issues on the way home. Did not even move at 45 mph, top down ( no other choice at this point) and no weird wind noise. Got home, unloaded the beast, drug it behind our bushes to keep the bad boy out of the sun and took the borrowed towels back. I cannot begin to tell you how comfortable they made me feel. They were top notch. I know I paid for this bad boy but they seemed as if they cared that I get it done correctly. I recommend them for your kayak, SUP etc needs. Life vests, clothing etc... Nice private lot and plenty of room to load and off load. Stop in and look around. Large store and very friendly people. Will definitely return. read more

Aftre months of research, and yet only more confused, i decided to drive over to Osprey Bay Outdoors. I was searching for a rooftop cargo box. When i arrived, a stellar sales rep and outdoorsman (James maybe?) was there to help! He was great! Started with what i was looking for, my usecase, my existing equimpment, and simply what i liked. He showed me 5 different cargo boxes and took the time to put 3 of them on my roof. Found the perfect cargo box, a Thule Motion XT XXL. 25MPG from FL-VT! Day 2, tragedy. The box cracked like an egg. I called Osprey Bay Outdoors, and they (James, maybe? and the bossman) were there to help. They helped me through the warranty submission and all requisite data. Submitted it and Thule approved it!! Called Osprey Bay Outdoors, they were stoked!! They also caught an oversight on my part,,,, tell Thule to ship it to you in VT. In the age of the internet, some times we forget,, there are true professionals out there with companies that will stand behind their customers. Let alone their products. My wife received AMAZING service from Aron and was able to find a GREAT kayak trailer at a very affordable price. He did a terrific job educating her on the differences between the different trailers and some of the new IMPROVEMENTS that have been made in the last few years in securing and transporting kayaks since we last bought our Yakima Racks in 2009. We came back by today to pick it up and everything was ready. We also got to work with the wonderful owner, Kim, who was so patient and pleasant. She listened to one of my concerns and showed me a MUCH better way to paddle that eliminated that issue completely and will probably improve my recovery time after long treks. Thanks Kim :-) We also looked at 2 different sit on top kayaks that we are considering and she did a great job educating us on the differences and even pulled down the displays so that we could try sitting in them. She also mentioned that we could rent these for a day and apply the cost of the rental towards purchasing one. What a fantastic way to make sure you are making the right investment!!! We found one other online retailer that was a little cheaper, but for this kind of service and attention and support, it is definitely worth spending our dollars here and building a strong relationship with a nice local business we can trust. Had a great guided fishing trip. I was booked with a different guide in the area and he canceled on my twice. I called Osprey Bay and they were able to get me hooked up on short notice with Josh and Craig. Two great guys that know the area and know how to get you on fish. We did a night trip and they got me onto all kinds of fish. A few triple tail, snappers, some nice slot reds and an awesome snook that gave me a nice ride. It's a decent place larger than it looks from the outside. They have a heavy collection of kayaks some sup boards hiking equipment etc. Think mini bass pro shop. The staff are nice the gear is all on the higher end of price don't go expecting any deals but at least your supporting local business and can walk out of the store with what you need. They basically have everything you would need for a hike or a paddle. One staff member made a particular jab at a hobby I enjoy but he didn't know about I let it go but perhaps staff should keep opinions to themselves or other staff when in private. read more

My husband and I went looking for kayaks yesterday. We are novices and when I noticed she was a bit irritated I made sure to mention how little we knew. Once the total prices went up to around $3,000 for two kayaks, all the supplies needed and a carrier for the car roof, I told her we needed to think about it. I may have meant (for just a few minutes), but before I even finished saying that she had walked away. We took about 10-15 minutes of her time, not excessive. My husband also wanted to buy fishing gear, but again, she had walked away. No "thanks for stopping by" or "can I help you with anything else". We WILL be buying kayaks today but will NOT be returning there. Word of advice, you are NOT doing your customers a favor. There are MANY outdoor stores in this area. Also I can see that she did this to someone else who wrote a similar review. You want return business? Don't walk away from folks when they are considering spending thousands of dollars. read more

My wife and I went there today to get information on canoeing. We figured this place would be an authority on where to go and what to expect. When we asked about canoeing places in Florida the lady at the front desk pushed a book in front of me for $20. Started telling us about the trips they did but she had no idea about any other place in the state of Florida and promptly walked away. Kind of rude not exactly how you run a business. We are planning on buying two kayaks but we will avoid this place at all cost. Best kayak store i have ever patronized (lots!). You can rent highest quality boats. There is no point in renting a kayak elsewhere (from the el cheapo rental fleet) which is bound to give you an unsatisfying experience. And don't do what i did, which is to buy a couple of cheap kayaks, then find out that you need better boats to keep up with your friends/group. My husband and I took a kayaking basics class. We have been kayaking a couple of years but had never taken a course. We met at 10am and went to Coopers Bayou. Our instructor was Sean Fitsgibbon. Sean was entertaining, energetic, and a great instructor. From the start we realized how little we knew about kayaking. At the end of the session we really had learned a lot. I can't say enough good stuff about my experience with Osprey Bay Kayak. I purchased my first Kayak there last week and unfortunately, realized after my first time out that it was not the Kayak for me. I am new to the sport, not a strong swimmer and a little nervous in the water so I need stability more than anything else and the boat I bought was just not a good fit. I was so upset with myself for not making the right decision and worried that, given the nature of the purchase, I'd be stuck with it. I couldn't have been more pleased with the way the owner Tom and his team handled the situation. After much conversation about what I liked and didn't like (can't get that when you buy it online!), I was able to swap out for a more suitable model. They matched the discounted price I'd paid for the one I was exchanging, lent me foam and straps and helped to secure it to the top of my car and made me promise before I drove away to let them know how I liked it the next time out. They told me it was important to them that I loved my Kayak! I'm happy to report that not only do I love my Kayak, I will be a loyal (and happy) customer of OBK going forward! My husband and I drove over an hour to get to Osprey Bay Kayaks, it was well worth the drive. Kim was extremely patient with us, we were there for approximately two hours. She took down several kayaks for us to sit in and explained the differences between them. When we left, we were completely outfitted with everything we need to begin our kayak adventures.
