Upon check-in we'd learned that the limit is typically 4 people (700 lb maximum), but since most of us are pretty small we were well under that weight limit even as five people, so they allowed it (and I lived to write this review so, all good). After signing my life away and a very quick motor tutorial by a kid who looked like he couldn't be older than middle school, we were on our way. The motor on this boat took a little getting used to, but once I got the hang of it I was a pretty good captain (I'd like to think). We put down the anchor and got out to explore Bird and Gull Islands, then headed over to another beach with a hill to climb up and get a bird's eye view of the area. Before we knew it, it was time to head back to the harbor, but we kept the party going with some drinks and food (will review that separately). Jay (who I think is the owner or manager?) told us we were only allowed to rent a boat if we took a picture and it turns out he was serious (see the photo shoot results in my photos which turned out pretty cute). He took these on his phone so not sure what else he plans to do with them.

Moving out from the headquarters, we took the walk on the eastern side of the river. Only one good place there to see the water, but it was magnificent, as a cormorant posed for us on the tree and a great blue heron took flight right over our heads. This is now the only place on the island to buy Nation Parks passes. A marvelous resource.

It went so far that for my parent's 50th wedding anniversary at the Fox Hollow Inn in Old Westbury, it was attended by Ranee. Herself coming from eastern Long Island, she did not have to do that. But having her there with my entire family (perhaps 100 people), including a couple that flew in from Grants Pass. It meant a lot. I'll never forget her being there for this. I like the marina, sequestered away in a quiet residential community. If you're looking for a secure marina for your vessel, this one should be considered.

He was able to take 6 for a banana boat ride while 2 sat in the boat and took pictures. We had 11 people for the banana boat so he made 2 trips for us. Everyone had a great time from the youngest (5 yrs.) to grandma and grandpa. Keith was so accommodating to all the needs of our large group and everyone liked him so much. My husband and boys went fishing and caught a couple fluke. The boys were excited to catch a couple of crabs and robinfish as well. We definitely felt like VIPs and we will only use Fire Island VIP for our yearly vacation from now on! Thanks for a great time we all thought it was awesome!

Park is gigantic! This is probably the largest park I've seen on the island. I would bring some…read moretrail marker flags if you're planning to explore. You can get lost very very easily. Everything will look the same and there's a lot twists and turns. It has happened to me and I'm pretty well versed in hiking and trails. My swissy loves it here. He's not really a runner, so trails and lots of stuff to sniff and check out are his thing. It's pretty busy in the on season and relatively desolate in the off season, but it's nice either way. If you don't mind bundling up, doing some off season walking and hiking might be for you. It's very beautiful and extremely quiet, almost too quiet. I have always felt safe here. As a lady, it can be off putting to be in a large place alone but I always see rangers here and there even if other people aren't around. Many people bring their dogs to run and hike- most are good but as with any public place there are always some bad eggs. I would deff check this one out if you haven't. I often find that we stop and just watch nature. It's a really great way to get out and do something that feels different each time you go. Most of the photos are of my dog but you get an idea of what it looks like!

There are a high number of trailers that have not moved in a long time. There is supposed to be a…read moreseven day camping limit before you have to move your unit however this doesn't seem to be the case here at this park. The park trails need maintenance as there are overgrown trees, and laid over trees across paths. Some of the trail access have planks of wood for soft ground that is rotting away. Trails are not marked and website map is difficult to read. Some of the docks on the water are inaccessible from shore.

What a great day fishing!…read more Why do you ask? Well I caught the biggest fish on the boat and won the boat fishing pool. Yay! Great bunch of guys running a boat on the South Shore of Long Island. We didn't go to any crazy spots, just a couple of popular spots with a few other boats looking for the same thing, Fluke! And boy or boy, my fish was an 8 pounder! $$ ;) The guys running the ship were nice. If you don't know how to bait a hook, they would have shown you but it you'll have to ask. My family know the deal, we've been doing it for years. When you go on any (4) hour fishing trip you'll need to bring: Sun screen Hat Beer/water You'll get thirsty in the hot sun, keep drinking! A good time had by all, the owner came up to me personally and shook my hand. I'd recommend Fish On Charters II to bring your family or friends for a fun day on the water
