Osprey Point Golf Course was designed by golf architect, Tom Fazio and what a design it is, clearly a cut above so many South Carolina courses, possibly because it was originally built as a members-only course. Other than The Ocean Course, Osprey Point is the 2nd best of the Kiawah Island Courses, but anywhere else on the planet, it is second to none! The setting for the course, which was completed in 1986, the course features four large natural lakes, fingers of saltwater marsh, thick areas of live oaks, very tall and thin pines with the biggest pine cones you could imagine! A very Typical Kiawah Island look, but not typical once you are walking the grounds. Osprey Point golf has plenty of strong holes, every hole but No. 8 has water, though the only real forced carry is on the par-3. The 11th hole, a 453-yard, par-four ninth is brutal and a two par 3's play longer than 200 yards. Osprey Point also offers strategic short par fours, to tempt and generally fool big hitters. Osprey plays 6,871 yards from the back tees, the course rating is 72.9 and it has a slope rating of 137. This may sound unimportant, but take notice of the state-of-the-art cart paths. An elegant clubhouse now stands overlooking the immaculate driving range. This isn't one of those mammoth, gaudy oceanfront hotels you may find in, say Myrtle Beach, it is classy, filled with wildlife and

I understand the Ocean Course is more picturesque and challenging, but this course is also excellent.

In my opinion this is an A+ driving range, not to be missed! Kiawah Island is fantastic for those willing to take the drive and this particular golf course is no exception. A villa at Turtle Point, is ideal if you are looking for a quiet game of tennis or a round of golf on a pristine course with friends. The experience, like many on Kiawah island is really quite great. The grounds are meticulously groomed and the staff continues to check in from your arrival to departure to make sure your visit is impeccable. It is quite the experience! I can't say enough about the jaw dropping outdoor views and beautifully design course landscaping, it is stunning every direction you look. Also, the wildlife is incredible, just so spectacular to take in. Watching the tropical birds, southern fish, baby alligators, and even the flowers is quite marvelous. This is a part of the resort that is simply breathtaking and I do recommend coming here. If I could give it more than 5 stars I would in an instant!

I was a spectator at a women's collegiate golf tournament, and they all made me feel like I need to work on my golf game a lot more than I have lately. Large gator spotted on the front nine that was rather impressive as it swam across the pond. I believe this was the 8th hole, but I could be wrong. Clubhouse is very classic. Locker rooms and restrooms for men and women, pro shop with a lot of merchandise to choose from, and a bar / restaurant for those who wish to refresh after a long round of 18.

Oak Point was one of 3 Kiawah Island golf courses I visited as part of a short golf vacation with…read moresome buddies. Its a Clyde Johnston designed course with some interesting nuance to it. While its a challenging course, playing in somewhat inclement weather made it a bit more challenging. Of the 3 courses we played-- Turtle Point and Osprey Point-- I found this to be the most difficult---certainly based on my score. Just the fact that you start out with a par 5 on the first hole should say something. How about having 3 par 5's and 3 par 3's on the front 9? I don't think I'd seen that before. Then 2 par 5's and 2 par 3's on the back 9. The back 9 for me was much more difficult. The condition of the fairways and greens are what you'd expect from a Kiawah Island course. The folks on the course and the pro shop were very friendly and helpful.

I feel Oak Point is the best course for a variety of skill level players, it would be challenging to the novice golfer and the experienced player will have a fair test, but may prefer the other 4 courses. The par 5's are reachable, but typically guarded on 3 sides with bunkers or other non green zones. Bordering the historic Haulover Creek and the Kiawah River, Oak Point was built on the grounds of an old indigo and cotton plantation. As I mentioned with the other Kiawah golf courses, Oak Point is another example of quality golf that Kiawah Island has to offer. The 18-hole Oak Point plays 6,759 yards of golf from the tips for a par of 72. The course rating is 73.8 and it has a slope rating of 140 on Bermuda grass, designed by Clyde B. Johnston. I have to rate Oak Point at the bottom of list of my Kiawah Golf Courses, but do not have that dissuade you from playing there, it is still excellent..The signature hole is #18
