The Links at Stono Ferry is always a treat to play, such a gorgeous golf course, especially on the back 9 holes. The scenery on the Intra-Coastal Waterway is spectacular down holes 12-14!! The Staff here are awesome always helpful! Driving Range is great to use as well. Easy 5 Stars !! read more

Me. Ben, James & Molly played here on the Wednesday after Easter. We were on a Spring break holiday. Ben had this course recommended by a co-worker who lives in Charleston. An overall good experience. Very small bag drop location. It's better to just pick-up your cart and retrieve your bag from your vehicle as they have a large parking lot. Check in was smooth and easy. Very pleased they offer a Veteran discount of $45.00 for 18 holes with a cart, otherwise its $105.00. They have a driving range but you're required to hit off mats. Very small practice putting area where balls are included. The carts have built in GPS, the tee boxes are well marked and maintained & they offer multiple tee options. All the fairways are fairly wide open, there is a fair amount of water with small creeks and steams coming into play. There are also small ponds on the front and back as you're playing along the Stono River with some nice views. All the greens were in great shape and fairly straight forward. This is a busy and popular place, even during the week, we were delayed about 30 minute off the first tee. Pace of play wasn't great either, so we played about a 5 hour round of 18. Sadly, there was no Marshal to maintain pace of play. The Staff at the clubhouse was great as was the Staff at the grill. I really like that they have the self-service hot dog station with all fresh condiments for an excellent all-beef hot dog. Several great holes on the back 9, especially #18, a par 4, which plays about 250 yards from Senior tees & requires a strategic drive to reach an island green. I would highly recommend this course but don't be on the clock. read more

I was here to use the range so comments are limited to the range. The ball machine was challenging to use. Purchased a large bucket and it dispensed a small. Not a big deal because they credited me in the club house. But clearly an issue because the same thing happened to two other people while I was there. Staff seemed not to care. The range is nice but it's turf only and there are no tees to drive. They could make the set up really nice by installing canopies over the hitting section to provide some relief from the South Carolina sun. read more

This is a bit of a biased review as I got to play for free in tournament here but I recently had a very bad experience at another local golf course and this place made up for it immensely! This is a truly beautiful course with a handful of holes on the water even. Don't miss an amazing photo opportunity! The course is very well kept and I felt the holes were a good mix of short and long with plenty of challenging ones in between. I was also very impressed with the on course bathroom facilities. They were very clean and well placed. The GPS golf carts are also a giant bonus! After playing in the tournament I decided to look up the price to play thinking it was too nice for my general golf price range but I feel like the value I saw for tee times online were great as well. I will definitely go play this course again on my own time! read more

Set amidst South Carolina Lowcountry breezes from the Intracoastal Waterway of the Stono River and centuries-old live oaks, Stono Ferry is a refuge and a true mecca for the golf lover. The Links features several historic landmarks, including a bunker on the 12th hole dating back to the Revolutionary War and tee box on the 14th hole set on a peninsula which was the original ferry landing for the surrounding plantation. The fact that the course play short by distance, it is by no means a course to be taken lightly. The importance on placing your tee shot in a location to attack the greens, unimpeded is critical to scoring well. I say this because the greens are very undulating and well protected, so hitting hybrid off the tee and having 17 into the green is a much better choice than trying to push the issue and hit driver. The water all up the left on #3 is a perfect example of how a seemingly playable, scoring hole can bit back hard, as I pulled a double bogie and had to drop a 20 footer for that. Water all down the right side on #4, so I smartened up and pulled 2 iron. Par 5's are reachable for longer hitters, (495 yards and 524 on the front) but I still feel bombing drives is poor course management at The Links. The front nine flows quite well through massive oaks and pines, thanks to course architect Ron Garl's vision, while the back nine is more open and features views of the S.C. marshlands. The Links at Stono Ferry is a semi-private golf facility open for member and public play. read more

Solid course played in January pretty well kept nice views of stono river, gps carts kind of annoying (if it stops you have to go in reverse... sometimes they would lockdown even when youre on cartpath) but really fun course, not too long so dont worry if youre not a bomber. Clubhouse is kind of sweet too, def wouldve had a beer if i had more time read more

After a couple of expensive rounds on Kiawah Island I was looking for a nice course that wasn't at the top of the price range. There were a few nice reviews on yelp of these links. This really paid off. I had a thoroughly enjoyable round with 3 regulars who showed me around the course and were very nice to talk to. The holes were well laid out and sufficiently challenging for my 19 handicap. The sand was particularly soft but once you hit a few out of it they were easy to play. The greens were much faster than what I saw on Kiawah and the fairways were in excellent shape. I chose this course because it was on the way back to the airport which makes for a convenient getaway. However since it was 90+ and humid I was worried about the shape I would be in for a 2 hour flight. They had an open shower in the men's locker room and I was able to clean up before my flight. This is a really nice place with a ton of old style class. I recommend it to anyone who wants to save 50% of green fees but not sacrifice any of the enjoyment. read more

If you're vacationing on Kiawah and want a low-cost alternative to the expensive courses on the island, definitely hit up this spot! My family and I played the back nine and other than the fact that my dad and boyfriend lost a lot of balls in the water, we were definitely pleased with our round. Everyone was very friendly in the clubhouse, and the guy that got our clubs out of the car was very enthusiastic and helpful. They graciously let us on the back nine, squeezing between a couple of groups as the views are much more scenic back there. It was both scenic and a great history lesson, learning about those crossing the ICW and looking at the boats and houses along the links. There's a lot of water so its going to be tricky, but those of us playing from the front tees (no shame!) didn't have too tough of a time with it. If I'm back in the area I would definitely come back and play a round here. read more

I started the day off pretty excited to send my son and his dad golfing while we were on our family vacation. Thinking this would be a good bonding experience for them. Quickly learned if you're not an insider to the area don't go to this course. They were treated with extreme disrespect, and made to feel very unwelcome to the course. They were given different stories about the rules from different employees. Tip for this course: Don't believe what you're told until after you're on the first hole. read more

First let me say that the Links at Stono Ferry has always been one of my favorite courses in the Charleston area That I have played for many years This year was the exception. greens are ok but the fairways and rough are not in good shape. Rough is long and overcome with weeds. Fairways also contain a lot of weeds. We m not sure if they have run into budget issues but the course is not the normal awesome experience that I've played in the past. Hopefully they will start to treat weeds and bring course back up to the quality we have grown to love. read more

Do not try to get a golf lesson here. I have been calling for 4 months trying to get a lesson scheduled. Once I finally schedule with Ben, he cancelled on me the day before and said he'd get back to me, and then never did. I called back again and spoke with the manager Greg who apologized and set me up with Scott for a lesson. He cancelled on me while I was on my way to the lesson. Horribly unprofessional and embarrassing. read more

Fun course. I really enjoy the history they tie into it. Can be a toss up on course condition, however. Overall it is worth the round if you are just visiting Charleston and not looking to spend the money on the Kiawah Courses! read more

never told the greens were aerated and sanded...expected a great round / experience and were totally disappointed at the poor conditions ...crab grass and weeds on the greens and horrible tees...sand traps were horrific and unplayable....avoid until repairs and reconditioning are made ...no coolers on carts either ....ugh... read more
