I spent a week in Venice and I went to this restaurant 3 times and tried something new each time. Obviously I truly enjoyed. The food was delicious yet somehow the staff was even better. Everyone was very attentive, helpful, and kind. They made great suggestions for our meals as well as wine. The space almost feels like a secret as you are lead down a mysterious passageway of lights to an unmarked door with a world of possibilities behind it. And once through this unnamed door, lies what at first glance appears to be a small restaurant but expands further than you would've expected. Trust the process. Go down the passageway. Walk down the alley! I repeat, go down the alley and create a party for your tastebuds!!! Tucked away just off the beaten path is a gem of a restaurant. We just finished a meal where we were all very pleased with our choices! The staff are super friendly and make it a great experience. Some of these other Yelp reviews are pretty old so there is no way their rating is reflective of their current operations. Give them a shot and you won't regret it! (February 2025) Their zuppa di pesce has become one of my favorite dishes! It's super flavorful and is overflowing with seafood. Even when you remove all of the shells, it's still a mountain of mussels, clams, fish, octopus, and squid! Honestly, ordering that with a salad or veggies is plenty for most. But I love to sample different dishes. I devoured a fillet that was cooked medium and ordered a crème brûlée to end the meal in a sweet note. Along with our check came limoncello. Pairing everything with a bottle of wine made it wonderful night. Osteria Doge Morosini has become a permanent place to visit when in the area. read more

After a week in Venice, we agree this was the best meal so far, in a very calm and pleasant setting with attentive and friendly service. The mixed salad was just that, a tasty break from all the carbs, with tomato wedges, arugula, carrot, and lettuce. The calamari was the best we've had in a long time. My Bellini was $6 and very good. I've paid more for others that weren't so good. But the star of the evening was the veal cutlet in wine sauce. We try not to order the same thing, but there was no way either of us were going to miss out on this one--and it was fabulous. The portions were such that we both satisfied but had room for dessert, which is rare. The tiramisu and cheesecake were both just right. And the complimentary limoncello was a great touch. One strange note: when we asked for the bill, a server we hadn't even seen before presented it and asked, "A tip for me?" That's never happened to me in this land of living wages , cover charges, and casual "roundup" tips. He said it with a little smile. My guy didn't even hear him as he signed the bill, and I just gave him a WTF look. He'd asked if we were American. Maybe he thought we'd hand over a twenty? Solid meal at this lovely restaurant on a rainy night in Venice, Service on point, prices are reasonable. 2 Stars knocked off for 2 reasons... I was billed for a bottle of water for the table although the printing on the water was worn off, clearly a reused bottle of water Service charge: a service charge of 12% was added to the bill. No posting of the policy anywhere. On to the food... The Mushroom risotto was excellent, creamy and bursting with flavor. The spaghetti with clams might be the best we have had anywhere. Very good restaurant just off the mad tourist track. They have several soups on the menu which is unusual in Venice. I had the tomato soup which was delicious. I also had lasagna which was very good. Service was excellent and prices were just a bit high for the area. I will go back to try the vegetable soup. read more

Was wondering around trying to figure out where to have lunch. We noticed this place had minimal seating outside and the waiter was trying to get people to eat there. I decided to try this place since it had a unique dish I wanted to try which was some sort of seafood stuffed ravioli. When we sat down they said they didn't have it anymore and so I ended up ordering spaghetti amatricana which was also really good. My husband got another white wine veal which was pretty good but not as good as another place we had veal. The waiters were nice and attentive. Good little lunch place :) read more

My husband had the sea bass al forno & I had the vegetable lasagna. I would rate my dish at a 3 because it was bland, and my husband's dish at about a 4. His was served more dramatically...the waiter served the fish at our table by removing its head & tail then filleting it. The prices were very reasonable and the waiter brought us complimentary limoncello! The restaurant offers 4 or 5 vegetarian options but I don't think any vegan dishes. Such a treasured find. We booked in advance and were treated like royalty by the manager. All the food was delicious but I particularly liked the tuna with sesame seeds - wonderful! Lured by the inviting atmosphere of the place, I sat down and ordered a traditional Venetian appetizer: Sarde al Saor and a pasta and a glass of the vino della casa. They even gave me the Italian menu! (i get annoyed when I get the tourist menu at these places.) I got a great vibe from the place and was very pleased was I even before any of the food arrived. Then I read the Yelp reviews which were surprising based on my initial take on the place. Unfortunately, some of the reviews were pretty accurate. I was in the little side room and pretty much everyone in this room seemed to be forgotten. service stated out with a bang and then got VERY VERY slow. This is a real shame because the food is actually really, really good. The Sarde antipasto was DELICIOUS. I mean amazing. It came pretty quickly, and it was a generous pile of sardines covered in Carmelized onions, Pignoli nuts, bay leaf, over grilled polenta. Real sardines are nothing like the canned versions famous in the USA. But I then waited 30 minutes to see anyone else about my the whereabouts of my pasta. I asked one of the servers finally and it turned out there was a miscommunication and my order didn't go in. At that point, I was full from destroying the bread basket (amazing bread, btw) and it was way too late for me to eat a big pile of tagliatelle. It was 10 PM local and I had already been up for 36 hours. To his credit, the waiter was so apologetic and sweet and did everything he could to make it right, way beyond what I've ever seen in the US. I left feeling very good about this restaurant. I hope they can pick up the pace with the attention to service. But in this case, at least, they really righted the Vaporetto just in time! read more

I went here with people who had previously dined there and liked it so much they wished to return - something I took to be a good sign in a city peppered with good restaurants. We all felt quite let down by the end of our meal. The restaurant itself is quite modern and stylishly decorated but the standard of service was quite mixed - some of the staff were friendly but others seemed disinterested or unhappy. I had a lovely starter but we then had to wait almost 40 minutes for our main courses and we weren't the only ones to have to enquire after them. By the time our mains arrived we had finished our wine and had only a few sips of water left in our glasses. Disappointing - I hope we only caught them on an off night. read more

Quick dinner after a big day of sightseeing, bit chilly out so found a table inside and I had lasagne my wife one of the pastas and girls pizza, all were tasty, arrived quickly and we had a couple if glasses of house red which was fantastic. Really cute spot across from the Academia bridge in a beautiful piazza. My food was decent, not too much better or different than the Italian food I enjoy in Cambridge or Long Island but, my wife's meal of fresh artichokes in season and a great sauce with fresh pasta was amazing! My hotel recommended this place, as it's nearby. I was seated right at the kitchen door (not sure if that was because I was alone). Service was the worst I've ever had. I ordered a glass of house wine, bottle of water and a pizza and it came to 19 Euro. One waitress kept coughing into her hand and I was disgusted to see that she was the one cutting the bread for the tables. No one asked me if I wanted another glass of wine. The pizza tasted awful - the crust was as hard as a cracker and the slices of tomato on top had no taste. After they cleared my food I sat there for 15 minutes before they approached me and even then it wasn't to ask if I wanted dessert or coffee but if I wanted the check. By far, the worst dining experience I've had in Italy since coming here 11 days ago. read more

This is a quaint little place in the front of the restaurant, and the day that we went it was extremely crowded. We sat in a small room off to the side, which was perfect for waiters to forget about. It was painfully long to get service. Once we got our food, we were never checked on again to see if we wanted more drinks or if everything was ok. We had both the octopus salad, which was fresh and delicious and the seafood spaghetti, which was bland and tasteless. The mussels were cold, the pasta over cooked and the pasta had a weird gumminess to it. Not sure if it was an off day or what, but there are so many other better places to eat in the area, I'd skip this one. read more

However, the service was the slowest we'd seen while in Italy - and we're pretty used to the slow pace of Italian waiters. We were practically ignored after being seated. Again, great food...
