2 words- food poisoning. We came here for dinner on our first night in Venice because of the great reviews. The staff was so kind and helpful! We sat indoors which felt so nice with the AC! The food and drinks were okay taste-wise. I would give the taste a 6.5 out of 10. Good yet not tons of flavor. The food was good for filling our tummies in the moment but not good enough to return. The worst part - food poisoning. I had the calamari and boyyyyy was I sick afterwards. It turned our experience from "okay" to "ouchhhhh". Unfortunately, we will not be returning for more. :( read more

The food was amazing!!!! It came out hot, cooked perfectly and so delicious. We are only in Venice for 3 days and will come back again. It is NOT a tourist trap! The service was impeccable! They were courteous, very friendly and attentive. Everything came out in a timely manner. It is located on a charming street next to the canal. I wish we had eaten here for dinner because they have lights strung back and forth across the street. The prices are excellent. I promise you will be so happy you ate here!! read more

Was able to make a reservation for 3 somehow on some local platform (spouse) for 8 pm Sunday evening in June. Other walk in accommodated as much as possible. Arrived a bit early and seated at window seat inside immediately. The inside is cozy but adequate. The staff hustled and were very efficient and friendly. We ordered the seafood special based upon walking in and seeing a huge pan on fresh seafood on table and thus made it easy for me and the kid to decide. It was their house special at 35 euros per person (minimum 2). Included lobster and a bunch of shrimp, clams, mussels, and calamari in a red broth. Also two large scallops. Takes at least 30 minutes to prep so need the appetizers to get you by. The also close out the special by tossing in pasta after your done with the seafood into the remaining broth. Full disclosure it's a mess to eat. Must use hands. The cover you with s bib. It was delicious. The spouse does not like briny seafood so she didn't eat much but more than enough for 3 (except not for the scallops and lobster portion). We started with a few appetizers. Spouse had the lasagna. It looked good and home made but again I ignored it due to the mountain in front of me. A few drinks and bottle of water. I wish the pasta was available before the end but understand they want to toss it into your pan of sauce. I had originally asked to order a pasta to complement but they said it came with a pasta after ( so I agreed ). Obviously we are tourist so I can't take extra home of which would have been plenty. Total cost about 143 euros. (No additional taxes or tip). Credit card available but we needed to roll home to hotel so left 150 cash on table. read more

It started okay. While there was still light in the sky, we sat down for dinner. It was quiet and removed from the hustle of St. Mark's. Prosecco, check. Octopus salad. Check. Shrimp and avocado. Check. People were seated around us, and the conversation flowed. But our dinners did not. Those around us were seated, ordered, served, settled and gone. When we asked about our meals, the too cute reply of "for breakfast" was irritating. But it gave us time to view the chips in the stemware, and the smudged water glasses. Two and a half hours after we ordered, we were served. This could have been worth an hour's wait, even an hour and a half, but not two and a half. And our waiter was unapologetic about what was clearly a huge kitchen miscue. Cannot recommend. read more

We have been going to Venice for many years during Carnival time and have always rented apartments in Castello near Ai Greci. It is a quiet neighborhood and this restaurant is perfect if yyou want home-cooked Venetian cuisine in a casual environment and very affordable prices. Trattoria da Denis is now run by Denis and previously it was run by his uncle named Johnny. I believe they also own a pizzeria a few doors down and we stumbled upon this location when we walked by. There are always diners inside and the Menu del Giorno (Menu of the Day) is the best way to go. You can pick form the Menu del Pesce (fish menu) or the Menu del Carne (meat menu). You select one starter dish and then an entree and the total is only 18 Euros. The Coperto (Cover charge) is 1.50 Euro and this includes bread sticks and warm bread. We ordered the house wine and it was fantastic and then had a grappa to finish off the meal. The staff speaks English, Italian, French and German and were able to take care of our international group. The spaghetti vongole is some of the best I have ever had. The fish of the day and fried calamari are always my favorite entree choices. If you are passing by this area after a day of walking through Venice, stop in for lunch or dinner and you will not be disappointed. The food was good--extremely flavorful and seasoned to perfection although our batch of pasta was a little overcooked. Desert was wonderful. The location is great and not too touristy, and the prices are similar to what I payed in other parts of Italy rather than this hyperinflation of the rest of Venice. What made the night especially fantastic was the great conversation we had with two other travelers from Australia. Of all the restaurants we went to in Venice this was one of our favorites . Very reasonable prices, very good food and service . Nothing fancy but that was what we liked about it . A great local trattoria. Delicious veal scallopini , great pasta and tasty breads . Large selection of wines for 20 euros . They have a blackboard special of meat or fish with appetizer and main course for 18 and 20 euros respectively . We Ate there 3 nights in a row and ran into the same couple each time ! read more

Everything about my meal was wonderful. Service was warm and attentive. I was helped by two different people the whole night. The pasta portions are rather large compared to most of the areas offerings. Lasagna, Spaghetti with oil and chili, and the fried veggies were mouth watering. This must be the best pizza place in all of Venice. We stumbled upon this place since it is out of the way from tourists and we were pleasantly surprised. I grew up in NYC and I know good pizza. This was it. The crust was not too thick and was crispy and the edge of the crust around bubbled and perfectly crunchy. There was just enough sauce and cheese and toppings so that it did not make the dough soggy. The salad was excellent with wonderful tomatoes and arugula. Yay! there is good pizza in Italy! read more
