    We had a great experience at Osteria Giulia, with a few standout dishes that really made the meal memorable. The Asparagi was easily one of the best dishes of the night. The combination of textures was incredible. A light, airy whipped custard with subtle citrus brightness paired with tender asparagus and finished with a crunchy topping. It was super balanced and something we would go back for. The Risotto al Granchio was another highlight and one of the most unique risottos we have had. It balanced sweet crab with earthy depth, finished with a touch of sherry that brought everything together. Every bite felt layered and intentional. We also tried the Focaccia di Recco. The texture of the bread was great, not too crispy or too soft, but it leaned too heavy on the cheese for our taste. A little more balance or added flavour would have made it more memorable. For drinks, the Spumoni was our favourite. Bright, citrusy, slightly frothy, and very refreshing with a subtle peppery kick. The Bronte was deeper and more complex with bold, bitter notes, but felt a bit heavy in comparison. Service was excellent. Attentive, knowledgeable, and well paced throughout the meal. Overall, a refined and thoughtful dining experience with a few standout dishes we would definitely return for.

    Had dinner with my wife while on vacation in Toronto. This Michelin star restaurant is in a very discreet location next to a flower wholesaler on an unassuming street. You wouldn't know there was a fine restaurant here. Anyhow, the setting is really nice and it was the best service we've ever had at a restaurant. The waiter went really out of his way to accommodate our food restrictions (no pork or alcohol7. The mixed seafood grill was incredible, the cheese flat bread also very good. The salad was okay, and unfortunately we couldn't eat any of the desserts.

    Reservations are available through OpenTable, 2 weeks ahead of time and they get booked up really quickly. And they have a 2-hour seating policy as they need to accommodate other guests. They have tables for 2, 4 and 6 people (larger groups). They also have bar seat option available. We came here for a weekday dinner and ordered "Crudo Di Ricciola" and "Fichi e Barbabietole" for appetizers. I really liked the combination of Yellowtail Amberjack, pomegranates d lemon; it had a nice kick to it. The combination of fig, beets and hazelnut was really refreshing; more on a sweet note. For entrée, we ordered "Frutti di Mare" which is a seafood platter consisting of grilled octopus, sea bass, snapper, scallops, squid and tiger shrimp. It was very tender, delicious and perfectly grilled. For dessert, we ordered "Millefoglie Cocco"; whichi we enjoyed. The staff are attentive and friendly and the restaurant has a pleasant atmosphere. When we got home, we noticed we had been charged for filtered water, which was strange as they never mentioned anything about serving filtered water.

    For some reason, my party was not thoroughly impressed by this meal. Although, I enjoyed the meal, they thought it did not live up to the Michelin rating. I enjoyed most of the food but felt the pastas felt short. Average, but nothing mind blowing. I think our party enjoyed the desserts the most. Service was great, although a bit absent some times and the ambiance was more casual, being a bit loud. There are a bunch of amazing Italian places in Toronto and we're not sure if this worth the hype.

    With a michelin star stamp of approval, my expectations for Giulia were sky high. Overall, it was a great meal highlighted by exceptional service. It's nice to dine at a place that makes sure your water glass is always full and your empty plates are promptly cleared away. For the food, they arranged a tasting menu for us which was curated extremely well and coursed out perfectly. All the apps were good but nothing was exceptional to me. The pasta course was my favourite - both the seafood and veal pastas were excellent but I preferred their famous seafood pasta slightly more. For the mains, we had a steak and seafood platter and I didn't try every single thing but it was all good, nothing truly exceptional there either. Finally, for the desserts their tiramisu was the standout - I almost wanted to lick my plate. Looking forward to coming back for those pastas!

    We recently had a wonderful anniversary dinner at Osteria Giulia. We booked about two weeks in advance, and were only able to get bar seats for a Wednesday evening (proves how busy this place is every night!) The restaurant is not at all ostentatious. I appreciate that the clean, neutral décor allows patrons to keep their focus on the food and service. From start to finish, the staff were attentive, and clearly passionate about their craft. We ordered: 1) Indivia e pera 2) Lorighittas al mare 3) Spaghetti neri ai gamberi 4) Cavolfiore 5) Formaggio testun di barolo Everything had well-balanced flavours and slightly unusual ingredients that you wouldn't necessarily find in any Italian restaurant, but the meal still felt approachable and homey. The lorighitta was my favourite, but I also really loved the presentation of the squid ink spaghetti. The endives and dessert were also unlike anything I've had before. The cherry on top was that they brought out some non-alcoholic wine to go with our cheese dessert. Super nice touch that they kept in mind that we had ordered mocktails at the beginning of our meal. Their Michelin star is well deserved.

    Ambiance, service, food is all spectacular. It's no wonder they have a Michelin star consistently for 3 years. Came here again after 2 years for my boyfriend's birthday celebration. We ordered 2 non alcoholic drinks and started off with the flatbread and carpaccio, then got the hand braided pasta and lamb racks. Again food was amazing as it was. We basically had the identical meal as 2 years ago. However prices did definitely hike up. But food was still tasty and amazing. I would definitely recommend if you can snag a spot. One of the best Italian restaurants in the city.

    Giulia has been on my list for a while, especially after I visited her sister restaurant, Giulietta, not long ago. This is the One Star Michelin sister, however, so I was ready to be impressed. We started off with the Vitello Tonnato (veal tuna) - the flavours were great, but once my partner joked about it being a canned tuna emulsion, I couldn't un-taste it. We then shared two pastas - the Tagliolini al Granchio (snow crab) and the Lorighittas al Mare (hand braided pasta with a medley of seafood). My favourite was the lorighittas - the pasta was al dente and I liked the garlic flavours. My partner, however, liked the tagliolini more (I just enjoyed the crab; the crunch of the breaded crumbs really threw me off) - he liked the brightness from the citrus bergamot and found the flavours much more complex. We also got the Carre di Agnello, the lamb ribs, which were medium rare and quite flavourful (though I felt it could've used more salt as I'm a salt fiend). We then wrapped with a tiramisu, which is nowhere close to the typical tiramisu. It was just okay. I found the alcoholic centre to be too overwhelming, and didn't particularly enjoy it relative to a tiramisu. Overall, would definitely say that this restaurant is the classier of the two - a great place for a date night or fancy corporate dinner - but the price point and plate portions definitely reflect that. Service, however, is impeccable. They charge a flat $3 per person regardless of if you get still or sparkling water, and my cup was never not full.

    Second time dining at Osteria Giulia and it was just as delicious as the first time! This time we got the veal carpaccio, focaccia, lamb, and squid ink pasta. The veal carpaccio and focaccia are both excellent, easy to share and a great way to start the meal. Highly recommend the squid ink pasta too, it's light with a delicious umami taste from the shrimp. The lamb was also delicious but a bit on the heavier side because it comes with 9 pieces. It's also quite oily, and I recommend getting other sides to pair it with. We got the cauliflower and Brussels sprouts. The brussel sprouts were super crispy with a hint of spice - delicious. Service was great! Super quick and attentive. Overall, a very nice restaurant for a celebration or special dinner. It can get a bit noisy when it's full, but the atmosphere is nice.

    had the most fantastic birthday at osteria giulia! we started with the carpaccio - soft, fresh, melts right on your tongue. this is one of my favourite carpaccios ever. for pastas, we had the trofie and paccheri - al dente and surprisingly great portions. we also had a brussel sprout as a side - yummy. we were honestly really full after all these dishes! the entrance was beautifully welcoming. lighting and atmosphere was warm while elegant. loved the candles. service was great and had a fun conversation with our server.

    Had a fantastic dinner at Giulia while in Toronto! Our fave meal of the trip. Definitely deserving of its Michelin star and we would come back! The place is super unassuming from the outside. We couldn't see any signage or anything outside; the interior (which you can see from the outside) is very classy and minimalist and was our only indicator that we were at the right spot! They ask to coat check here, which was a nice touch but we decided not to coat check. The service here is top notch. Our waiter Daniel was absolutely amazing all evening! Super charming, warm, personable, and attentive. He always kept our water full, offered to take pictures of the table unprompted, and carefully cleaned our tables after each course which we loved. We started with the focaccia filled with stracchino which was really tasty. Felt like an elevated cheesy bread! For our mains we got the Spigola, Paccheri, Tagliolini, and Lobster Risotto. Of the three pastas, our fave was the lobster risotto! Super creamy and the rice and lobster were both cooked really well. Really loved the meat sauce in the Paccheri and the crab Tagliolini was nice lighter citrus-sherry sauce to contrast the ragu. The noodles here are on the firmer side so just a note, for anyone who may prefer soft noodles! The Spigola fish was good, but had bones so be careful while chewing! I had to fish out bones from my mouth a few times. For desert we got the Baba and Tiramisu. The Baba was our fave desert - I loved the pear gelato in the dish. The gelato had such a robust pear flavor. I also really liked how the cakes in both dishes were super moist, like they were soaked in syrup. The Tiramisu does have a heavy alcohol flavor, so just a warning on that. They also have a few non-alcoholic aperitifs; I tried the Torino Cobbler and liked it! The sommelier tried to talk me into one of the more bitter drinks but I'm glad to trusted my gut because the Torino Cobbler was quite bitter so if it was the sweetest of the bunch I would *not* have liked the others!

    If you're looking for an exceptional Italian seafood dining experience, this one-star Michelin restaurant is a must-visit. We came here for dinner as a party of two and shared a selection of dishes. The thoughtful pacing of the meal made it feel like a multi-course dining experience, allowing us to savour each dish individually. We started with the Focaccia di Recco, one of their signature appetizers. This was absolutely delicious; thin, crispy, and reminiscent of a perfectly grilled cheese. It was the ideal way to begin our meal. Next, we had the Squid Ink Spaghetti with King Prawns, and this was another standout. The pasta was cooked to perfection, and the flavours complemented the fresh prawn beautifully. The balance of brininess and richness made it one of the best pasta dishes I've had in a while. For our main course, we chose the European Sea Bass, served with a side of Brussels sprouts. The fish was expertly deboned, though the spine remained intact, but the staff informed us beforehand, and it didn't affect the dish at all. I'm usually not a huge fan of fish, but this sea bass was incredibly well-prepared, flavourful, and tender. The Brussels sprouts were another highlight, cooked perfectly with bold, well-seasoned flavours. For dessert, we indulged in the White Chocolate & Coconut Mille-Feuille; a light, crispy, and delicately balanced treat that was the perfect ending to our meal. For drinks, I tried both the Classico Negroni and the Trentino Bianco Negroni. While both were great, I preferred the Trentino Bianco as it was smoother and more refined. Beyond the food, the service was outstanding--attentive, friendly, and knowledgeable. The staff ensured that our evening felt special, making it an excellent choice for a romantic occasion. We were celebrating a birthday, and the ambiance made it even more memorable. A few tips: - Reservations: Online bookings open 14 days in advance, and reservations fill up quickly, so plan accordingly. - Finding the restaurant: There's no obvious signage outside, so be sure to use Google Maps to locate it. Overall, this restaurant delivers incredible Italian seafood dishes, warm hospitality, and a beautiful atmosphere, all at a price point that's more reasonable than many other Michelin-starred spots. Highly recommend for seafood lovers and those looking for an elegant yet approachable fine-dining experience!

This is my fourth time here but I never wrote a review fir the restaurant before. We ordered the following: 1. Shrimp Perno (daily special $6/shrimp). Jumbo Shrimp sautéed in garlic, white wine, tomatoes, scallions, and finished off with a shot of perno liquor. 2. Rack of Lamb (daily special $59.95). Four pieces of lamb in a rack, with a rich portion wine reduced sauce, that has a touch of mint to it, and Penne Pasta in a tomato rose sauce. The table bread was really good. The crust was crispy but the inside was fluffy. The soft butter that came it was so tasty. The bread was perfect for dipping in the sauce that came with the shrimp. We asked for a second basket of bread and they put two loafs in the second basket. It was too much so they were willing to let us take it home. The shrimps were definitely jumbo. It was so filling. Two pieces (per person) were good enough as an appetizer. The shrimps were perfectly cooked. We requested the lamb be cooked medium rare. It was definitely medium rare. It was juicy and did not have a gamey taste. It tastes great. The pasta was perfectly al dente. The tomato rose sauce was really good. They offered to grind parmesan cheese and pepper so we got both. There is free WiFi. The restaurant is wheelchair accessible. There is paid neighbourhood street parking and paid parking lots. Review 2025-187

It was a fresh, bright appetizer with good balance. For mains, my date had the Spaghetti in Canna a Mare with clams, mussels, calamari, scallop, and tiger shrimp in a tomato sauce. The menu described it as mildly spicy, but it definitely had a noticeable kick. Still, the flavours were really good. I ordered the Ravioli al Brasato with braised beef, butter, sage, and parmigiano. It was tasty and comforting, though portion-wise I could have used a few more ravioli. I was still a bit hungry after and honestly double the size would have been perfect for me. There were four flights of stairs to get up to the first floor with the bar and main dining area. There was another two flights of stairs to get to the upper bar (which I was too tired to walk up to). The drinks at the bar were good and the staff were all great. We started with passed apps. Some of the flavour combinations were just off (the skewer with fruit, cheese and something else) - like they paired the wrong cheese with the fruit. The meal itself was a seat down meal (family style) which did take over two hours to complete for the amount of guests that were present (over 200 ppl). My favorite dish was the tomato and mozza salad. My most disappointed dish was the ragu pasta. Though containing a good amount of meat it was not saucy at all. The pizza was the brocolini was good as well. The reason I gave this restaurant three stars is strictly for the lack of elevator and the food quality vs the price. For what you are paying, there is so much higher quality food in the city and I honestly think you can get better bang for buck elsewhere.
