I highly recommend this studio to anyone looking to record ANYTHING. I had no expectations when booking the space, I just saw that the response time was 40 minutes. Sure enough, the owner responded to me very quickly, I booked my session for the next day and I was set. Prior to arriving, I texted back and forth with Glenn and he made sure that I had absolutely everything that I would need to record my video for YouTube. He set me up, have me instructions and told me, 'you're going to leave with a good video.' He was correct and I did. The space exceeded my expectations. Best studio to rent out. We used the place for three days. Throughout filming it was clean, had lots of room and was very easy (and super comfortable!!!) to shoot in. It also had great acoustics and the personnel were complete lifesavers. First day we arrived an hour late to setup and only had about an hour left, if we were going to stay on schedule. Glenn and Michael wasted no time giving us advice on camera placement, lighting, and letting us know where to get everything we needed. Because this place was so great, we were able to complete filming early and happy. Everyone at Ostrich Farm Studio has the best positive and professional demeanor. Loved this studio and the lay out. Everything was spacious and the building itself was easy to find. I really like that they have full bathrooms and kitchenette for long shoot days. The studio I was in comfortably allows for a small team of up to 5-7 people depending on your project. My only concern is the poor lighting in the vanity areas. As a makeup artist and hair stylist having an evenly lit room and proper lighting temperature makes a huge difference. The lighting is incredibly warm and makeup requires daylight lighting around 5,500-6000. Other than that I definitely recommend this space. read more

My photographer was unable to be ready in time for my graduation pictures and I looked for a few on Yelp. And thank god Glenn responded (very quickly). He literally spent almost 30 minutes in the consultation via telephone to see what I wanted, needed, and my circumstances (weather, ambiance, etc.). He truly cared about my vision and needs being met and not simply imposing his vision on my own (putting me in a studio, etc.). The day of the shoot Glenn was able to calm me down because I was very tense and nervous. He is very communicative, punctual, and easy to talk to. I love how the pictures came out! More Pro's Than Con's: Overall the place is very accurate to it's online photos and description. It was clean, spacious enough, nice green room, and parking was wonderful! The outdoor area was nice as well if you're having a meal or shooting even. On the flip side the green room is not private (it's see thru glass) but there is a bathroom/dressing area and that space is pretty limited. The staff was really friendly but was in and out of the dressing room which made it feel less like a rental and more of a shared space. Towards the end of the shoot he was moving around, cleaning, in and out of the studio, etc. It made the last hour quite distracting. I'd rent again and maybe just have that conversation in the beginning, overall I give it a solid 4 stars! read more

I really enjoyed shooting at Ostrich. The facility is clean, quiet and very well put together. Unlike other places I've shot at, you can tell they want to make sure whoever films in their studio feels comfortable. Their rates are straight forward, yet also very flexible to meet your production's specific needs. There is plenty of parking, which for me is a huge deal when compared to shooting DTLA. I chanced upon Ostrich Farm Studio on CL and I quickly setup an appointment with Albert for ocular. I had a great vibe when I met Albert cause he was sincere in his accomodation and his gregarious demeanor made me want to do business with him. The day came when we were to shoot and I met Glenn. He was the one who assisted us in our session and he was very helpful. He even went home to get us a fan when we needed it for a scene we were shooting. The place is clean, private and the facility was kept well. We would surely do business with them again. I recently got scheduled for a shoot that was taking place at Ostrich Farm. I was pretty shocked when I arrived. Not only was it well outfitted with the basics, but also the facilities was in unusually professional order. I was extremely shocked to see that there were additional rooms beyond just the area that we were shooting in such as a larger lounge, and a green room. I have shot in a ton of small space studios, but this one stood out far and away as the most well thought out and executed. Also the load in procedure was surprisingly simple. If you got lucky enough to find this location on yelp, you're probably good to just stop right there. It doesn't get too much better than this read more

Amazing place, but service was well beyond sub-par. Make sure you are CLEAR with the owner/s what you want happening before you agree to anything. He had the nerve to contact me multiple times regarding payment even though I accomplished nothing at his facility due to hardware issues which caused me to leave two hours early than my allotted time. Seems more content to dazzle you with promises than deliver results. --- More below. Met with one of the owners on a Saturday, it seemed to be well understood exactly what I wanted to happen... Even though the owner did 90% of the talking and hardly listened at all. He seemed to want to dazzle and impress me with his history in TV and production experience rather than listen to what I had to say. I showed up on Monday to book the suite for half a day, some random intern was there to give me 'advice' on my work, which was what I had originally wanted from the owner. Again, said owner was too busy with other things and clearly did not even take the time to look at what I had worked on previously to give me any clear recommendations. After using his system for about 10 minutes, there was some file conversion issues and permissions issues on the system. He dabbled for a bit and seemed to know the fix, but a restart later the same issue persisted. Maybe it had to do with the fact that there was almost no free space available on the drive that I was working on, or the fact that my clips weren't exactly in the right format to be working in. Again, this is more of a technical expertise area to which he should have known better or at least have tested to see if things were working properly in Premiere before I arrived. --- So a slow system, file permission issues, file format issues and lack of actual assistance led to this negative review. It seems a fine place if you can get the owner to listen to what you want and have him agree on it. Otherwise he's going to assume whatever he wants and will try charging you for something that never got completed at his facility. I'm sure if all you need is an editing bay or a small shoot and staging area - then this is your place, for other stuff I'd recommend working at home or at your own workplace. If you are on a tight budget like I was, avoid this place. Partially my fault for assuming that I was understood, but then again I guess I was the customer that was let down. read more
