Unfortunately, I tend to forget about them and often go to Lowe's or Home Depot for my hardware needs. I am going to really try and make a conscious effort to go to A & G in the future instead. This is because regardless of what you are looking for, if you need guidance on a project or in what type of item you need for a project, the service at this store in unparalleled. They will stay with you and answer all your questions and provide suggestions also. They have a little bit of everything you may need in general household repairs. My most recent visit required me to find parts for a hot water heater installation and I felt a little over my head on knowing what I would need for this project. I was helped immediately and shown all the supplies I would need for the installation. I am great full for their help and will continue to ship there whenever I need supplies.

WHAT IS ACE DOING??!!!…read more I ordered an item online from Ace and needed to return it, so I went to their website (sadly I ignored my instinct not to shop at Ace because they are going extinct). Their "easy" return policy states that you must find a store and return it there or call a number. I called the number and was met with a promotional scam. The only option to get to talk to a representative was to dial "1" which brings you to a promotional department asking if you want $100. I wasn't born yesterday and I know you never get something for nothing. I said I just want to know how to return my item and so they promptly hung up on me, so I had to find a store. The nearest store was Werner's Ace, in Florida, NY, which is a 25 minute drive from my house. When I got there and said that I needed to make an online return, a very rude woman snapped at me that I have to come back tomorrow because the person who does online returns will be in tomorrow. So, of the three people behind the counter, none knew how to process a return - there is just one person specially trained LOL??!!! What are you doing guys? Do you know what year it is?

I am glad you asked. True Value of Pine Bush sells wood pellets by the ton. In August, Alan will start making a list of how many tons you wish to buy, take a deposit and let you know when they can be delivered. He does not make a whole lot of money off the pellets, so why does he do it? He has told me that some of his customers have been buying from him for years and depend on him. He could easily just not have pellets because they are heavy, a pain to store, and take up space but his customer's need them. I happen to be one of those customers. Because of those wood pellets, whenever I need something, my first stop is True Value. If you are starting a business or already have one, stop by True Value of Pine Bush. Walk around a bit. Count how many times you get asked if you need any help. Count how many times you get a nod and a friendly "Hello". Alan's staff not only knows where every product in their store is, they know what they are talking about. I am glad to have a store like True Value in my hometown that also happens to be a shining example on how Customer Service is done right.

There's also always someone there to help me bring the heavy stuff to the car, and no one will accept a tip -- "happy to help" seems to be their tag line. They're also great about referring customers to other local businesses if they don't have something I'm looking for. A recent example was I was looking for a hori-hori (google it, it will change your life). They had some tools that looked similar and probably could've sort of done the trick -- but someone working there told me where I could find an actual one on Main Street. Found it, bought it -- and told the folks working there how I learned about them. Builds community and relationship as opposed to competition. Dig it. These folks are my go to -- highly recommend them.
