This place is astonishingly bad. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The only person I would like to shout out as great was Sarah, who brought me to the exam room. She was very kind and pleasant.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]Apart from her, I had no other positive interactions. From the start, the receptionist was not friendly and looked like she very much did not want to be there.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] But as far as unprofessionalism goes, Dr. Kim takes the cake. I came in due to a mass in my ear and it turned out to be a cyst that needed to be drained. While doing the procedure he says "yucky" as he's cleaning out my wound. I'm laying there in pain shocked by it, but I let it go. After he was done, he simply puts bacitracin on it and tells me to continue to do so myself and to come back in a couple of weeks for a follow up. I was shocked there was no gauze, no bandage, nothing. I thought, hey, maybe he did something to stop the bleeding- NOPE. I didn't realize anything was wrong because they had numbed my ear, but right after I left the waiting room and went to the restroom, I realized that I dripped blood on the floor. I then realized that my hair is wet with blood, and there's blood drops on my shirt as well. I go to look in the mirror and see that bloody fluid has pooled in my ear. I ended up using paper towels and improvising with bandaids I had in my purse, just so I could get home without more blood leaking out of my ear. I sure wasn't about to go back and ask for help from a totally unfriendly receptionist. Now, I'm no doctor, but I'd say it's pretty unacceptable to have a patient go home with a non-cauterized, open wound and no bandage or gauze of any sort. Needless to say, going forward, I will be going elsewhere to have my ear looked at... and to anyone with something even remotely similar to me, I'd suggest you do the same. read more

To start, [[HIGHLIGHT]]the ENT's doctor's bedside manners were at best questionable[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] eventhough the procedure performed seems to have mostly worked, although not entirely (I went to a different dr.). However, I am most dissatisfied with the Office's abusive billing practices. When I arrived for the procedure I was charged a co-pay and in addition was hit with an unexpected $150 in additional "equipment charges" they told me last minute is not covered by insurance. Months later, they charged me an additional $100 in co-pay and threatened to take me to collections. Of course, I paid to avoid affecting my credit. In sum, I feel this group is abusive in the way they bill and collect. read more

Came here in 2020 to get a third opinion on a second surgery because I have a paralyzed vocal cord due to a rare complication of spinal surgery on my neck (go figure, I need surgery because of surgery). I was referred to Dr. Lee by my amazing neurologist, Dr. Stephenson, who has always very caringly & successfully guided me in my health, has my best interest at heart, & I trust him fully. He has saved me many times for many things & he is THE BOMB! Dr. Lee is wonderful. She is gentle, thorough, understanding & very clear & upfront about her findings. She also used a smaller scope that was a better size for my frame, making the experience trauma free for the first time ever; this put me at ease & I appreciate that so much! I have seen two other docs (one who is supposed to be one of the top docs to see) but one was a bit too aloof & the other was a bit too relaxed so I left both of them feeling more confused on how to proceed. I had surgery scheduled with Dr. Lee in 2020 but Covid hit & it was naturally canceled. Seeing her again today just opened my eyes even more & I have good info to investigate & think about things. I need surgery regardless, I just have to decide which path to take. read more

DO NOT go see Dr. Michelle Liu. This person diagnosed my daughter with an acute URI, laryngitis, etc. Her treatment plan included Flonase and NSAIDS. I asked why she was not prescribed an antibiotic and/or oral steroids. These are not scheduled medications by the way like narcotics. They are fine but they have the worst schedulers of any doctor's office I have ever seen. My family has a lot of ENT needs but every time I call to schedule an appointment and am on hold for minimum 30 minutes, within seconds of me finally getting ahold of someone, they hang up on me as soon as I say hello. It's luck of the draw whether or not I get to make an appointment. This happens every time. I went to this outfit in Feb to have some weird nosebleeds looked at and saw Dr. Michele Liu. I had to wait for a little while, which was not unexpected for a first-time patient visit since this place handles allergy and other ENT issues. She was very nice, thorough and diagnosed me with a deviated septum and some other things that I didn't know I had. She recommended a very routine surgery to correct them and that having it would certainly improve my sleep (reduce snoring) and breathing in general. I was able to schedule the surgery, but had some lingering questions and needed to address some timing issues. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Getting in touch with Dr. Liu's scheduler was extremely difficult, but I was eventually able to get my issues resolved.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]The surgery center staff was very friendly, prompt in contacting me and provided excellent guidance for prep and aftercare.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]Just prior to surgery, Dr. Liu spoke to me about the procedure and what to expect.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]Afterwards, she did not come by, which I thought was strange since I had many questions about how the surgery went, so I had to wait until the follow-up (one week later) to ask.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]The surgery center was highly proactive about contacting me to ask about my recovery, which went very well and without incident.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]During the follow-up appointment, Dr. Liu was again courteous and friendly and addressed all of my questions.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Now four months later, I can easily say that my breathing has significantly improved, my snoring has all but stopped and other issues are resolved. We were referred over to Dr. Kaelan Black from our pediatrician for our baby girl's tongue and lip tie revision which was performed when she was 2 weeks old. Being new first time parents, we were worried about any medical procedures on our daughter but Dr. Black provided us with the all of the information we needed regarding the procedure and answered all of our questions thoroughly. She also wasn't pushy or forceful in the event that we decided not to move forward. The entire procedure itself took 5 minutes! With proper aftercare instructions, our daughter was feeding normally without any struggles by the next day. We were able to do our follow-up appointment via telehealth which was convenient for us. The office followed COVID-19 procedures (face masks required, temperature checks, social distancing). The front desk reception experience was straightforward; appointments are made over the phone or in-person for follow-ups and your bill (if any) is mailed to you after insurance deducts as needed with the option to pay by mail or through their online portal. read more

Had an incredibly poor experience with Doctor Kim today. He was dry, impolite, and had the bedside manner of a Roomba robotic vacuum cleaner. in fact, the Roomba at least makes cool noises; Dr. Kim was about as impersonal as you can imagine and delivered his medical information with all the gusto that one would give if one was presenting for their oral medical boards. Our consultation began with him and an aide? doctor in training? who knows walking in and starting the process of explaining the procedure - his aide dutifully taking notes on a computer. No introductions, no small talk - just BOOM right into it. Okay - I can appreciate the expediency and efficiency. But the entire 10 minutes I was in there it felt entirely uncomfortable, as if there was somewhere else he rather be. He was just delivering the information and the mail. Dry. Robotic. All the bedside manner of your average bedpan. In all fairness, I cannot point to one specific thing he said or did, but if you're trusting someone to look out for your best interests when you are going to be lying completely powerless in front of them for a medical procedure, it is critical that they not come off as an arrogant prick. Likeability is a critical part of trust, and this doctor did not inspire that in me. Oh and they charged me $1 for a stupid mask. I understand in a medical setting they have the right to make you wear a mask, but to be *charged* one stupid meaningless dollar is petty. And cheap. In Spanish, we'd say 'muertos de hambre'. Especially considering Dr. Kim had his hanging at his chin for half of our conversation. So I made them charge me $1 when paying the copay. I should have bought the box and had them give it out to the next 20 people who didnt have one, if theyre so hard up they need to charge $1 for a stupid meaningless mask. So, congratulations. But thats the last $41 you'll get from me. read more

I have to update my review. The office reached out to me a month later. I ended up deciding to have my surgery done with Dr. Doyle. Truthfully, the surgery experience was excellent. I joked around with Dr. Kim (the anesthesia one - there are two) and told him I refused to go to sleep! LMAO! Everyone started laughing and that was the last thing I remember! I think he knocked me out so quickly to shut me up! Everyone at the surgery center was great - even Yanni (spelling) in the billing office! Dr. Doyle is a partner in the surgery center where she does her surgeries - Fairfax Surgical Center - and, again, everyone there was just awesome! I had my coblation tonsillectomy and my days of tonsil stones are FINALLY OVER! It's been a journey! So, if you looked at my reviews, you know I had a coblation cryptolosis. If I had to do it again, I would have just had my tonsils removed using a coblation technique because the stones did come back years later. I'm sure science will advance and in a few years scientists will figure out that there is a genesis to these stones and that can be modified to stop them. Until then, a coblation tonsillectomy will provide the ultimate relief. read more

I came in here with a severe sore throat and worries I had laryngitis because it hurt to talk. I want to preface by saying that the nurse/physician I met with were pretty decent but the front desk staff, vitals taking nurse were less then professional. When I called in thinking I had laryngitis they marked me as having strep as the reason for visit? Then after waiting 15 minutes over the appointment time, the first male nurse took me back and took my vitals. From the notes I got in the portal my blood pressure was super high but guess he didn't want to mention that to me? He also didn't seem to understand what I was trying to say/convey about my symptoms. The nurse practitioner came in and she was a bit aloof but ended up being really helpful and pushing for me to have a camera look at my vocal cords. The doctor they brought in was a bit stern but did confirm I had a bad case of laryngitis, along with a few other items. They seemed to chalk up my symptoms to acid reflux and sent me on my way. A few days later I started feeling worse, including running a fever, etc and called in to check with the nurse if this was normal. They took 30 hours to call back, OK, but then whomever was on the line didn't seem to understand me because they told me to drink hot tea with lemon...not sure how that helps with a fever? Overall impressions are doctors knowledgeable but the staff who work with you the majority of the time make you feel not exactly confident. read more

The surgery scheduling for this office is absolutely ridiculous. Why would you wait until less than 24 hrs before a procedure to confirm a time?? My daughter is 2 and we're just NOW informed less than 24 hrs prior to her tube procedure, that we have to keep her fasting for 12+hours. You leave us that message at 4 pm and then leave for the day? If the doc (Dr.Doyle) only schedules procedures in the afternoon, maybe MENTION that before we even confirm the date of procedure! Beyond frustrated. This is clearly a tactic utilized so that if you have to cancel they can collect your $500. In what planet is a 2 year old going to be okay with not eating for 14 hours? Please someone from this office reach out to me with your rationale, explain to me why this isn't communicated prior to scheduling. Terrible office service. Doctors might be good but the office staff is a mess. I scheduled an appointment for my kid 3 months ahead and when I went to the office they asked me the insurance approval they forgot to do so when I made the appointment. Then, I scheduled 2 procedures for a month and half in advance, they called me less than a week prior to say they forgot to schedule one of the procedures and couldn't be done, when everything was ready, off from work, pre op, phone pre screening. Everything. They wanted me to do 2 separate ones instead and there is no way I'm doing that to my kid. They didn't fix the problem and I just had to find a different place and start all over again. I have been to countless Ear, Nose, and Throat doctors for a variety of problems and have always been shrugged off and told I was fine. That all changed when I came here, especially the Allergy Shot Department. The women in the Allergy Department are amazing; the most understanding, patient, respectful, and accommodating health care workers I have ever met. They are all very knowledgeable about the process and allergies in general. I have a handful of health problems and they have listened to to my every concern while working with me to figure out the best course of action. I see Dr. Kim in the medical office and he was extremely helpful and supportive as well. Scheduled an appointment for ringing in my ears caused by whiplash from a car accident. The earliest appointment was weeks out. I scheduled it. The morning of the appointment, I got a call informing me that half of my appointment was at 9:10 to get a hearing test but the second half of the appointment was moved from 9:30 to 10:30. What?! My hearing test was done in a small room that was affected twice by the noise and vibrations from a large cart or something on the floor above or below the room. For the actual doctor's appointment, I explained my ear-ringing symptoms started immediately after a rear-end car collision. She did her exam and concluded that the ringing in my ears was likely caused by the rear-end collision. No kidding. That's why I was there. I asked her what she thought my next question for her would be. She said, "I'll bet you're wondering what we can do about it." She responded that no one really knows what causes ringing in the ears and there's really no cure. I asked her if she'd ever heard of physical therapy working on the ringing, tinnitus. She said "Oh, that would be worth pursuing". At the beginning of the visit, the doctor said that a hearing aid would not help my situation. At the end of the visit, she was suggesting I go get a hearing aid consultation. The place was dated (poster on the wall was from 2002) and dirty (floor had brown marks around the perimeter and under where the door swings). When I was in the office, a red laminated card with "DIRTY" written on it was placed on the outside of the door. Patients talking to front desk staff got interrupted frequently by any staff person that walked by and wanted to talk to front desk staff. I have no idea if this practice is competent or not. I couldn't get past making an appointment. I explained at the outset that I was a bilateral cochlear implant recipient and that one of my processors (the better of the two) was not working and that I would be struggling to understand the person on the other end. While we struggled to get the appointment done, I mentioned that there was a lot of background noise and conversation. She clearly, in her responses, could not have cared less. We finally got to the point of trying to set a date, but it was a month out, which would not work for me. She attempted to give me a number to call instead, and the background noise was too much for me to get all of it. She got angry with me repeating that the background noise was making it very difficult. This was wasted breath on my part. I finally said I would find a different provider and hung up. Bottom line, if you are a practice dealing with cochlear implant recipients and other profoundly hard of hearing folks. You should have a phone system that cuts out background noise. It is not that difficult. It shows me that the practice doesn't really care about the patient, and I will find a different provider. I would not advise any profoundly hard-of-hearing person to use this practice. It is apparent their heart is not in it. read more

I've been coming to this practice for four years, due to a yearly recurrence of "sudden hearing loss", which I had never heard of before (caused by a virus). They have always been very professional and timely in fitting me in to see the doctors, so the hearing loss did not become permanent. And.even though I had to get steroid shots in my eardrum 3x each year to solve the problem, they tried steroid pills first. I have never experienced the long waiting, crowded waiting room, or noise in the office. So, it's unfortunate some people had negative experiences. read more

Horrible experience with this practice. They routinely overbook patients and have long wait... they kept us waiting 2.5 hours for our last appointment, and we even arrived 15 min early. We ended up walking out and said never again will we use this practice. The long wait is typical. The waiting room is always full, loud and chaotic. Front office staff are clueless. Referral from primary was not accepted because it did not specify the number of visits. Then it was we need insurance authorization.. Call insurance in office and they could not articulate what was desired... Call primary care office they were dumbfounded as all the information they needed based on the form the gave us as an exemplar was on the referral letter provided. This place is a nightmare. It looked promising at first, but after diagnosis of throat cancer and procedures to remove it, I was essentially kicked to the curb with a NG feeding tube and no Speech Language Pathologist support to help me regain my swallow and speech functions. I am now losing weight and my speech is extremely impaired. Having a phone conversation or even getting an appointment with your doctor is nearly impossible. After months of being gaslighted by other providers, the providers here sprang into action and solved my family member's medical issue. They even - without us having to ask - took care of the very difficult insurance referral/authorization process that our primary care manager should have handled but couldn't. Note: Sudden hearing loss should be treated as an Emergency - nerve damage can only be treated up to 4 weeks (Steroids) after that damage is permanent. Dr. Bryan McKenzie did a procedure on my eustachian tubes where I was given a local anesthesia and so were not out completely. The procedure was done on a surgery room that as located at their offices in Fairfax, not at a hospital. What happened during the surgery was very unprofessional to say the least. Unbeknownst to me before the surgery, he had eight people in the large room to watch the surgery. I understand he needed a couple of nurses to assist him but there were reps there for the medical device he was using to perform the procedure along with other people that I believe worked in his office but just didn't have anything better to do. I had should have been asked my permission or at lease made aware of all the onlookers to my surgery. So he started the surgery and the whole time, which took maybe an hour or more, he was joking around with everyone there....constantly talking with them and cracking jokes during the procedure while at the same time he had his surgical instrument down the back of my throat. It was like he was trying to entertain them and I was of course awake and could hear everything. It was almost like he was trying to perform a comedy routine by joking around and I thought this was so unprofessional to be acting this way while doing surgery. It goes without saying that I much preferred he concentrate on my surgery instead of joking around with the onlookers. I visited this practice for 2 appointments recently and on both occasions I was seen by Kelly Robertson, a nurse practitioner. During both office visits my medical care and office experience were excellent. My presenting problem was a long term, persistent issue with mucus buildup and post nasal drip. During my first visit, Kelly conducted a thorough examination and suspected that I had a possible bacterial infection. She sent a sample to the lab. After this was confirmed, she prescribed an antibiotic. She also prescribed a nasal spray in place of an existing prescription spray (Flonase) that I had taken for years. Finally, she instructed me on how I could use a saline irrigation system for greater symptomatic relief. By the time I returned for my follow up appointment, the infection was gone and I would say that my symptoms had been reduced by 80%. During both of my office visits I was seen promptly and greeted by a polite and professional office staff. No hassles, no problems and no complications. My patient experience was easy and pleasant and I am happy to give Kelly and this practice a 10 out of 10. read more

This review is strictly for Dr. Black who is phenomenal. I cannot say enough wonderful things about her - I would recommend her time and again for anyone who has ENT issues (including children as peds is her specialty). I had similar issues with the office staff as other reviewers mentioned. Scheduling my surgery took over a month and despite leaving two voicemails was told they never received a message from me. Once my surgery was scheduled - almost a month in advance of the date, I was notified the week prior that I was overbooked and therefore had to change my surgery date (after making arrangements for my work schedule and my caregiver's schedule). The other major issue I ran into was the difference in cost between the two surgical sites they offered me (based on my insurance coverage). There was a $1500 difference in cost between the two sites I was offered but this was not mentioned at the time that I scheduled. I feel strongly that the office staff should be familiar with associated costs within different facilities they are scheduling patients at - when I mentioned this to the staff, they took no responsibility and did not seem to think it was part of their job. My final comment is that I left a VM for the practice manager wanting to discuss my problems and have yet to hear back, almost 2 weeks later. read more

After several years at this practice, including multiple surgeries, I am left believing they prioritize more profitable medications and procedures over patient outcomes. After the two aforementioned surgeries, this practice recommended another procedure and could not effectively articulate to me why the procedure was necessary. It was clear by the body language, tone and facial expressions the doctor was annoyed that I did not understand. After addressing all their assessment questions in the negative, they persisted in recommending the procedure. I regret letting this practice perform two surgeries without getting a second opinion. I deeply regret subjecting my son to what I consider the inadequate care of this practice. read more

I scheduled an appointment with Dr. Bahadori for my newborn to have a tongue tie revision. I was told it would be a $40 co-pay. The Dr didn't perform the revision correctly and I had to pay to take my child to a pediatric dentist to do the procedure correctly. Then the office billed me for another $110. Yeah I'm not paying that. You are incompetent and put my newborn through unnecessary pain. You should have to pay for the second procedure. Run from this place. I recommend Smile Wonder for this procedure. read more
