We were there for my MIL's birthday, her choice for some horse racing and music! Service wasn't great, but they were busy. Ordered the daily special "mint juleps" for race day! Wha wha, $15 for a large cup of ice and two sips of liquid.....even our 86 yo mom was unimpressed, saying it's all ice! Ok, we move on to an early dinner and wine.....we are at a wine bar/shop, right? Another hurdle for the day....that nice display of bottled wine from around the world can't be consumed on site, unless you add $35 corkage! The setting under the big tree with string lights was charming and made for a perfect sunny summer afternoon. We started with the bruschetta, which was fresh, bright, and nicely finished with a balsamic drizzle. For our main dishes, we ordered two versions of the Linguini alla Checca: one loaded with large, perfectly grilled shrimp and the other topped with seared ling cod. Both pastas were light, flavorful, and beautifully executed with sweet cherry tomatoes, fresh basil, and generous shaved parmesan. The seafood was cooked just right and really stood out. We also shared a con carne pizza piled with Pepperoni, Fennel Sausage, Salami, Pancetta, Mozzarella, and Goat Cheese. YUM!!! It had a great crust with nice char and tasted fantastic. I ordered a Crab and Scallop Linguine, the portion was pretty big. The pasta was very creamy, the seafood was fresh and the flavor was very good! Will come back again when I'm in town next!
