Cups is a cute little cafe nestled into a walkway between the parking lot by the waterfront, and front street. The staff are all friendly and kind people. I love their monthly specials as well. While the cafe was severely understaffed (only one employee on a really busy day in the downtown area - definitely trying their best - but understandably a bit frazzled) and the wait was quite long, we were happy to find that the sandwich and brownie we ordered were both really tasty once we got them. In fact, the brownie was probably one of the best I've ever had (yes, trust me - it's THAT good):) We were also relieved to be able to find a table right outside the cafe, so we could enjoy a rare, sunshiny day in the PNW while we ate. This place does not do anything exquisite in terms of coffee but what it does do is it brings a little joy to your soul with everything else. CUPS does not just serve coffee, it serves ice cream and also some small sandwiches too! The staff is extremely helpful and patient willing to go out of their way to help you be fully happy with your beverage/food purchase. The CUPS coffee shop offers both indoor and outdoor seating. If you are indoors, it cute and quaint. If you are outdoors, then you get a fantastic view of the waterfront, marina, shops, and other downtown Poulsbo niceties. Prices are spot on and affordable. Not paying too much or too little for the quality of your drink or food. This place is great to go to if you are just beep bopping around the downtown area of Poulsbo. We stopped in and ordered a small latte and a couple of pre-made sweets. They weren't overly busy but there was only one barista there so service was on the slow side. But she was friendly so it was still acceptable. Unfortunately, the filling of the lemon bar we ordered was bland and the crust was tough and extremely underbaked. The latte was very weak for a double shot 12 ounce latte that was really only an 8 ounce because of the ridiculous amount of foam in the cup. I live in Poulsbo. On 8/13/22, a couple of friends from out of town came by to visit. While walking down town I suggested that we go to Cups Espresso. The front of the business was filthy. Cups was apparently using the sidewalk out front to drain their dirty waste water. The water crossed the small sidewalk and was dirty and moldy with old napkins and food stuck in it. I walked inside and the business had an old funky smell to it. I talked to the owner of Cups some time ago about these same problems. I stumbled into this shop while walking around the mean streets of Poulsbo last time I was in Washington. If it weren't for their small chalk sign put up on the street, I might have missed it all together. It's a small operation with some seating inside and out. They also had free wi-fi if you wanted to get a little work done or watch cat videos on your iPad. The baristas were super friendly and I ordered my soy, dirty chai latte. Now, they pull their own shots here- just the way I like it. The chai wasn't so powerful that you couldn't taste the delicious shots (yes, two) of espresso. It was smooth and rich and I think I sucked that thing down in two gulps. They used vanilla chai, which I really like when available. Again, the vanilla wasn't too sweet. Super inexpensive. I got a medium size + a tip and it was only around $5. Because there were two pulled shots, I was tweaked out for the rest of the day. That's how I know I've had a good cup of coffee! This was the best ice cream I've had in a while. The single scoop was more like two scoops so they give you plenty. The texture was really nice and creamy and homemade tasting and it didn't melt too quickly either. I got bubble gum and it had a pleasantly strong bubble gum flavor that brought me back to my childhood. It was also really cute and colorful with all the different colored gumballs in it which left me feeling super cheerful. I used to go to this cafe regularly, despite the fact that they're staff is slow moving. I didn't go to this cafe for a while but have gone twice in the last couple of weeks, for the sake of convenience on a 30 minutr lunch break but I think I'm done. Last time, the girl who helped me was very nice but so slow. The girl who helped me today not only slow, but rude. She didn't say hello, just started with asking what she can do for me. She spent the majority of the time she was with me, talking to her coworker, and when I thanked her, she couldn't even be bothered to say you're welcome. I love the Poulsbo community and love supporting the local but I will go elsewhere in the future. I could get past the slow service but not the rudeness. read more

I ordered a 20oz Iced Latte yesterday which is my usual drink order at every coffee shop. The barista turned around and produced my latte in less than 20 seconds, which was very unusual and concerning to me. I asked her about it, and she said they poured my espresso shots from a bottle in the fridge! That's completely unacceptable for a drink that cost almost $4! I asked if I had ordered it freshly made if they'd do that, and they said yes, but didn't ask me if I'd like it freshly made. I had to ask again explicitly to have them remake it. After all that rigamarole, the latte was quite good which is why they get 2 stars. Serving stale old chilled espresso shots out of a bottle is just really bad way to treat your customers, and then not offering to make it right is just bad customer service. read more

Being a Starbucks regular, I get a little indecisive and a wee bit curious when I get coffee at a new place, thus making me bombard baristas with a bunch of questions on my first visits. The barista on my first visit to Cups was friendly, helpful, and patient despite my endless stream of inquiries regarding the drinks they specialized in, drink recommendations, or any drinks and specials they had for the day. I felt a little bad for holding up the line but I wanted to make sure I was getting something adventurous but also safe, which for me would be a 7:3 ratio of comfortability and risk. I had heard from a friend that they made mean macchiatos here so after careful consideration, I ended up getting a caramel macchiato which actually happens to be one of my go-to drinks.. so not much risk there lol. My drink ended up not being as sweet as I wanted it to be and when I informed the barista of this after being asked how I was liking my drink, the barista offered the whole bottle of caramel syrup to use to my satisfaction. I've never been given that kind of sweet, sugary freedom anywhere before. I had an "I've got the power" moment the second I held that bottle full of gooey caramel goodness. That one special service made my first experience at Cups unique and incomparable to my seemingly mundane and automated visits at Starbucks. I don't know if that was a one-time thing (hopefully not lol) but I'll definitely be back to try their other drinks and food! read more

We love coming to cups when we are in downtown Poulsbo. Their coffee is delightful, and their service is great. For a small coffee shop, their food is pretty good too. I recommend the veggie sandwich with hummus instead of cream cheese. My girlfriend eats mostly vegetarian, so I go along with her in solidarity. I use this coffee in my own home and when I am not it town, Cups kindly ships it to me where ever I happen to be holed up. Cups makes a lot of their own tasty pastry and food products too. Solid espresso drinks, friendly employees, and tasty wraps.... the only thing that prevents Cups from receiving more stars is they do everything in excess! Enough vanilla flavoring in my americanos to give cavities and a whole gallon of mayo on their wraps! While I find that if you simply ask for light flavoring and light condiments you get a perfect drink/eat, it's irritating because they're so close to being perfect! Their espresso is rich and the beans they use are perfectly roasted. Their wraps (the BLT is my personal favorite) are made with fresh ingredients and are a perfect lunch item. I don't know why they feel so compelled to cover up the goodness with copious amounts of condiments and flavoring. My final rating of 4 stars is largely due to the friendly employees and the amazing potato chips they serve with their wraps! They're probably the best I've had! This is my favorite coffee shop in Poulsbo. It's also is the smallest. Not a ton of seating inside but I don't mind since I typically come here alone. If you have a big group I recommend taking it to go. The baristas here are really sweet. I get brewed coffee and I have never been disappointed. The pastries here rule! read more
