Laura and Michael did an above and beyond job with my father's passing. We thank them greatly.

I gave Lane Funeral Home 1 star because I can't give 0. THEY PUT MY MOTHER'S ASHES INTO A MENTOS…read moreCONTAINER. That's not all they did, but it was the worst thing. I would have given them 3 stars out of 5 before they put my mom's ashes into a Mentos container to turn over to my sister. I would have started at the beginning, but you might have not read the most egregious thing they did. At our first meeting, I was told to give her 24 hours to post the obituary. We met on Thursday at 12:30, so I expected to see it on Friday afternoon. Nothing was posted on Friday and then on Saturday I sent a minor change to the obituary, just changing where the repass would take place. Nothing was posted on the weekend. I called the funeral home on Monday 3 times to find out what's happening, but only reached the answering service. I never received a call back. The obituary was posted on Tuesday, but the picture was left off and the last paragraph was changed. The last paragraph said to make a donation to a certain place in lieu of sending flowers. They took out my last paragraph and added their directions to their online "sympathy store". I was getting angry at this point. I tried calling the funeral home again and reached the answering service. I have one of the employees' cell phone numbers, but I had been trying to not use it (out of respect for a comment she made during our first meeting). I called her and got nothing but excuses and lies. She said that since we weren't having our funeral service until a week after our meeting, that they would not post the obituary until 2 days prior, because most people forget. She said that most people have their funeral within 2 days of their loved one's passing... This is an outright lie. I raised my voice and got a bit ugly at this point. Things were mostly fixed shortly after that. She claimed that the blurb about their store had to be at the end of all of the obituaries due to the website settings, so she posted my paragraph before that, but it no longer had a link to the site. I was ok at that point. The funeral happened as it was supposed to. My mother was cremated. We were asked how we would like the ashes at the initial meeting. We said that we would like to have 4 small portions set aside into separate containers for family members who would like to keep them or make keepsakes out of them. We didn't have an urn yet, so we knew that we would be getting the main portion of ashes in a box initially. When my sister picked up the cremains, there was a box with a proper label on it and 4 other containers in a zip lock bag. One of the containers was a Mentos container. My sister sent me the picture of the bag and its contents, but I didn't understand what I was looking at. Why was there a breath mint container in with Mom's ashes? HER ASHES WERE IN THE FUCKING MENTOS CONTAINER!!! Why would you not postpone the meeting until you can get a 4th container? The utter lack of professionalism and empathy disgusts me more and more. Most of my family was laid to rest via Lane Funeral Home, but I hope anyone who reads this decides to go with another option. There are plenty of others. Don't let them do this to you and your loved ones.

Most inhumane people I have ever met. They do not return calls and they gave all my mother's ashes…read moreto a non family member!! when I spoke with them they were rude and didn't even give there condolences.
