I bought a half dozen macarons while I was at Off The Grid and it was one of the best decisions I made that evening. They are delicious! My favorite were the Thai tea, orange blossom, and lavender. I had the jasmine green tea, earl grey, and currant ones too and thought they were good, but not great. I think my least favorite was the currant and favorite was the Thai tea. This really ups the street food dessert game! Ran into them at the Emperor Norton Holiday Bazaar. Probably the best vendor I've tried there. Almond Cherry: It tasted like there was some sort of dried cherry in the cream, quite nice. Mango: It was mango-y enough, a nice tropical treat. Raspberry: Classic, really liked this one. I love macarons and was excited to head to Off the Grid last Friday to try Oui Oui's from the Kung Fu Taco truck. At only $1 each, I decided to try all three flavors: black sesame, chocolate pb&j, and i can't remember the third flavor. I ate the black sesame first since I love black sesame, but was disappointed to find that the macaron was hard, dry and crumbly. It was a good thing that I purchased all three flavors as the chocolate pb&j and the other macaron were much better. They were still soft and chewy inside. *10/7 update: I'll round up the 3.5 stars since the owner seems nice and offered me replacement macarons to make up for the overbaked one. Oui Oui is the latest addition to the local trend of macaron vendors (Paulette, L'Artisan, Christopher David, Miette, plus every French bakery and pastry shop in town). Worth mentioning that the macarons from popular Paulette are the only ones not made in SF, their factory is in SoCal. I'm happy to patronize local vendors like this one, rather than retail shops from out of town. These macarons are really well made, cute, delicate, crisp outer layer, and nice cream filling. Flavor is okay. In comparison, industrialized-Paulette has more variety, Miette is creamier, and Christopher David has sharper flavors. Heard about this new macaroon place and HAD to try it! Side note: Located inside Serramonte Mall (Enter through the entrance by Elephant Bar, it's closer) What's Oui Oui? Not sure, but it sounds like fake french to me, haha. Oui Oui has taken over Burger King's kingdom! ..but have they demolished everything in its path? Nope! Part of BK's kingdom still remains.. when you enter, you'll be greeted by the old remaining booths, tables, and chairs along with a funky neon light pillar in the middle of the room. If you want to reach your treasure, you must travel to the back of the room, where you'll encounter a small glass wall and behind that, you will find your tasty macaroons! Even though the decor may seem ugly cause of BK's old stuff, the macaroons deliciousness makes up for it! The macaroons are sweet, chewy, and full of flavor. I love it!! I noticed that some customers would come up and ask about the price then walk away but honestly, $1.75 is cheap for its quality in my opinion! Definitely worth it. Decent macaron. Nice aroma and flavor Texture are delicate and airy which is nice My favorite flavor are lychee, and black sesame. Some recommendations, Salted caramel, has to be a little bit more salty and spread/ sprinkle salt more evenly. Rose, I don't sense the aroma nor taste the rose. Simply too sweet. I have rose tea all the time, I know how rose taste. This can be improved. read more

I got the mint chocolate chip macaroon ice cream sandwich. Personally I think the texture of the macaroon is too sticky and too sweet compare to the other places I've tried. Though the combination with the ice cream is really good. I would recommended to eat it there because it will be somehow messy. My COO [Chief Operating Officer] at work recently went to Paris for a business trip, as our mother company is located there. I'd been harassing him nonstop to bring back macarons from Laduree Paris since I love macarons with a passion, and also because they have such a long, rich history. My idol, Marie Antoinette, loved macarons from a young age and even named her cat Macaron at the age of 5! After months of wheedling and pleading, he brought back a whole box for me and the office to share. "$46 euros for that box," he griped. "Worth it!" I chirped happily, devouring a quarter of the box. They were perfect; the exteriors were crisp, the centers chewy. The ganache filled macarons were rich and decadent; the jam filled ones were tart and flavorful. They were heavenly, by far the best macarons I'd ever had. Then Oui Oui came along and blew me away. The taste and texture of Oui Oui`s macarons almost totally mirrored those of Laduree`s, as blasphemous as that sounds. For a macaron purist such as myself, I`m extremely picky about the macarons that I put on my palate. Trader Joe's frozen macarons? Disgusting. Miette's strawberry macarons with the whipped cream-like filling? Overly sweet and deplorable. We ordered the Mint Chocolate, Lychee, Green Tea, and Triple Chocolate. At $1.75 each, they were a steal! They were light and decadent, but not overtly sweet. It's so unfortunate that the booths and neon lights from Burger King are still installed; they take away from the ambiance. But then again, a macaron patisserie inside Serramonte Mall seems out of place as well. LOL However, I was informed by the two employees there [a big guy and a smaller girl] that they were only on a 6 month lease, and that they might be moving somewhere better, so hopefully they`ll leave the tackiness that is Serramonte for somewhere more refined! haha The two employees there were also very helpful and friendly...even if they didn`t know what Laduree is when I gave them a compliment about how their macarons tasted like Laduree`s. The biggest compliment I could ever give Oui Oui is that they taste like macarons from Laduree. To be compared to the legend that is Laduree is the highest honor I could bestow to you, Oui Oui. No idea where these good reviews are coming from. Was by far the driest, worst macaron I have ever had. The interior is a barely converted Burger King and there is always just one worker who looks bored out of their mind. It seems like most older people just sit there (not for the sweets but) for the space! ABSOLUTELY AWFUL. I have had Tout Sweet and many a delicious macaron down by the ferry building and at various OTG events. They are beautiful pillowy with a crisp exterior and filled with intense flavor...NOT THIS ONE Avoid at all costs...you're better off getting your sweet tooth treated with some frozen ice at the food court FOR SURE. read more

Fusion tacos and delicate macarons.. a rather perplexing combination, but both are rather good so I am not complaining! Anyway. I'm actually a macaron baker myself, so I consider my macaron-judging skills to be quite excellent ;) The guava was good, but a little bit too sweet for my liking. Texture was great though- chewy, with a soft interior and no air bubbles. But the real star was the salted caramel. WOW!!! A light dusting of salted caramel bits on top, and deliciously luscious salted caramel filling. It has inspired me to make some salted caramel of my own. These macaroons have by far the best macaroons I have tasted SO FAR.. keyword SO FAR! I got myself a full box of these heavenly goodies, which included the salted caramel, lavender, chocolate banana, almond vanilla, brown rice and green tea....The famous salted caramel somehow was too salty for me and usually I love extra salt on my food...so I thought that was interesting.. If it had less salt, it would of been perfect and delicious. My two favorites were the almond vanilla and brown rice/green tea.. it does sound like a weird combination but you can hardly taste the brown rice but instead enjoy the delicious soft green tea in your mouth.. Great texture, soft interior, chewy... no hard crunch like the other macarons I have tried int he past. For 6 = $9ish... Pricy but hey its macarons...when are they EVER cheap?!?! read more

I tried Oui Oui Macaron's macarons today at the new location at Serramonte. I did taste the flavors of Earl Grey, Green Tea, Blueberry, Thai Tea, Mint Chocolate, and Vanilla. However....they were DRY. Dry like a biscuit. ESPECIALLY the blueberry one. It tasted like they were sitting out for a couple days. Trust me, I make macarons, and I know what they taste like when they are left out for days. They are not fresh...the Mint Chocolate one tasted the most fresh. The rest were a bit meh. Don't get me wrong, the flavors are definitely there. But the texture is not so pleasant when they are left out for long periods of time. You know, you can freeze macarons and they stay fresh after you defrost them? Why don't you guys try that? read more

I really wanted to like this operation, but it's more like Oui, No for me. First, I'm a bit confused by the pricing. Some reviews say they go for $1. At Moxie, they were 1.50/pc. I guess there's an upcharge for being south of the city. I tried a few different flavors including the Yelp fav, salted caramel. It was a bit too salty for me. The almond vanilla didn't taste like much. The chocolate banana smelled great but I immediately regretted putting it in my mouth. The flavor was somehow off and the banana became overwhelming. The only exception was the brown rice/green tea---that was a stroke of genius and my bf and I fought over every bite. My overall complaint aside from flavors would be the texture. Maybe that day was an off day, but I found the shells incredibly hard and dry--not crisp on the outside and chewy underneath before the filling. They were unforgiving in the mouth and crumbled creating a mess with every bite. Oh well, the search continues... read more

Tres bon! French macarons are one of my favorite sweets and it is hard to find a good one on this side of the pond. I saw yelp tweet about Oui Oui Macarons the week it opened & certainly not one to pass on a taste test of a french macaron, we trekked over to the Kung Fu taco truck the very next day because they were selling Oui Oui Macarons on their truck. The Earl grey is an instant favorite. It has a great smooth authentic Earl grey flavor, no bitterness from the tea and not overly sweet. Its like an earl grey latte sandwich! Yum! I could've easily devoured a truckload of these! And at $1 a piece, I just might. The very best thing is that they are so moist! It still manages to have that familiar crisp crunch on the outside, but it is very moist on the inside. These little suckers can easily become dry & the consistency can become gross to the point of being a crumbly dusty mess, but nope not here at Oui Oui! They are made to perfection! I'm extremely picky, but I've got to give credit where it's due: I'm impressed! I'll be stalking these mobile macarons in the FiDi via twitter so I can try them all! read more

I tried Oui Oui Macarons at OTG from the Kung Fu Taco truck. At first I just tried the salted caramel and I liked it so much I went back to try more! They only had 3 flavors and I tried the caramel and the almond vanilla ( I forget what the 3rd one was, but didn't try it anyway). They were $1.50 each and well worth every penny! They were perfectly crunchy on the outside and light and chewy on the inside. The almond vanilla was really tasty and the filling was creamy and perfectly sweet, but not overly so. Soooo soft and amazing!

I never tried to hide how much I like macarons. I eat them pretty much whenever I can lay my hands on one or two, or a dozen. They really don't last, do they? I, again, drove to Moxsie Street Eats from Santa Clara just to try Oui Oui Macaron. Unfortunately I got there a little later and some flavours were already gone. I managed to get chocolate mint, grey sea salt caramel, raspberry and green tea latte. They were beautifully coloured and picture perfect. $1.50 a piece was about average. First had the green tea latte because as I laid the bag of macarons next to my purse, it crumbled under pressure as they rolled around. (The other ones were intact tho.) As I bit into it, I realized that there was a reason its shell broke. The top of the shells were harder and hollow underneath, while the bottoms too chewy, which I guess was a sign of overbaking (don't claim to be the expert there). The flavour was really good tho: intense and pure. All the other ones held their shells better and flavours equally good. The camarel ones were sprinkled with large salt crystals so when I encountered one, the flavour really popped! read more

I'm no macaron-pro, but pro or not, nobody can deny how amazing these macarons are. I had them for the first time at a friend's wedding and am quite bitter because now my constant cravings for them refuse to go away. My fellow bridesmaid and I were handed a whole box full of these goodies in sesame and strawberry flavors. Rather than taking them out on the floor for other guests to enjoy, we snuck to the back of the venue to devour a whole bunch before heading out with guilty crumbs on our faces. The strawberry flavor was excellent but the sesame was to die for. Maybe I'm biased because I love anything black sesame flavored but to think of having it inside a macaron? Genius. They weren't super sweet unlike Paulette's which can be a little overwhelming sometimes. And the texture was just perfect. I have no idea what people are complaining about. This place is actually pretty good. The macaroons were moist but not too sweet. I got the chocolate and vanilla. This location and decor is a joke though. It used to be a Burger King and it's still a Burger King to me! All they did was add cute posters and took off the Burger King ads. It's seriously way too big for a macaroon store and I love how even though Burger King is long gone, the older Filipino gentlemen are still there hanging out. Besides the location, those macaroons were expensive! $1.75 for pretty much a small little cookie! I first tried the Passion Fruit macaron and really liked the flavor. The cookie texture was on the chewy side but the flavor is distinctive. I ended up ordering over 12 dozen macarons from them and it turned out really well. The macarons were separated out by flavor and clearly labeled on the boxes. The boxes were sturdy and wrapped tightly with saran wrap. I was given instructions to keep it in the refrigerator as long as I can before the wedding so the cream wouldn't melt. The 3 dozen I ordered for myself and friends kept for 1-1/2 days in the fridge and texture and flavor remained the same. My favorites are sea salt caramel, pineapple, and lychee. I would definitely order with them again, the delivery was on time and only cost $5 anywhere in San Francisco. I got a great deal and I did the set-up myself so paid no extra for "trees" or "stands". The macarons were a hit at the wedding - gone before all the other sweets. I heard positive comments all night long. I hope to get in another order soon. Anyone want in? read more

I was pleasantly surprised with this place. This place took over the old Burger King (and still looks like it with a more romantic color palette). The place seems very big for just selling macaroons. It makes me want them to offer coffee or tea or even other small food because it has such a big dining area. If I was not looking for this place, I would had totally missed it. On to the food: I got a Earl grey, Blueberry, and Lychee. The texture of each one was differently. The blueberry was closest to what I like where it has the crunchy outside with chewy interior. Both the earl grey and lychee was softer in texture. BUT OMG the taste! Earl grey is my favorite hands down. It was my boyfriend's favorite too. The taste of tea lingers in your mouth. The blueberry was also delicious. The lychee was also very strong but as I continue to nibble, the taste became less and less strong. Overall I will definitely come back! I can't wait to try the other favors I see other people post. They have limited flavors and I believe they change per day (?). I really look forward to trying other tea flavors like green tea and thai tea. I haven't heard of other macaroon places having them. read more

So I was looking for some macarons to give to a friend as a birthday present, and I literally squeezed Yelp dry to find a cheap, delicious place for macarons. NOT an easy task, and I thought I finally hit the target when I found Oui Oui Macaron. I read all the reviews and people were saying that macarons were $1 here. SCORE! I went to the food truck that was selling Oui Oui Macarons that weekend, Candy Bar SF. "Macarons are $1.75." What?! Everyone was saying that they were a $1, I guess I'm saving a quarter per macaron. Which is one more macaron after buying seven. Meh. I bought them anyways, 10 for my friend and 3 for myself, seeing as I was super last minute. Oh well! But regarding the macarons themselves, they were DELICIOUS. Yummy yummy in my dumpling tummy! I'm not an expert on macarons, but they were so good! Chewy, not too sweet, and fluffy! This was actually the second time I'd tried macarons, the first time my friend's mother introduced them to me after a trip to the Stanford shopping mall. I was hooked. I got the green tea, passionfruit, lychee for myself. For my friend, I got the green tea, passionfruit, lychee, salted caramel, rose, earl grey, raspberry, and I forgot what else. But she said they were delicious, so thumbs up to oui oui! One star down for the price, but four stars to the food truck and the yummy deliciousness! I go here if I'm really hankering for some macarons but can't make it to Chantal's or Miette's. This is my back up back up place and this was the closest to my house. They help with the macaron craving with some of the flavors and they are not overly sweet and decadent as Chantal's. They get away with selling dry macarons here and there which is a huge no no. chic, cute, pretty, whatever you may call it, they are very adorable, but they aren't very good, but looking at their prices, they aren't all that bad. If you are a macaron fanatic, like my girlfriend's sister, you would hang me for this review, but still they may be so cute and adorable, but they don't taste very good and aren't filling or satisfying. I've tried seven flavors so far (my girlfriend's sister is a zealous macaron lover, so we buy them alot), and none of them have really impressed me at all. Quite disappointing that something that looks so good taste so blah. Blah - interesting word right? I think it was really the texture. I've had macarons from bakeries in Paris this past summer, and the consistency was much firmer compared to Oui Oui's. The texture of Oui Oui's is just too soft and chewy. Pretty good macarons. Tried the raspberry one and the lychee one. Both were good, with a preference for the lychee one. I was glad to taste that they are not as sweet as other local ones and the macaron had a nice chew to it. Our reference is Laduree, and while these aren't those, missing a bit in the texture of the macaron itself, we will be back! read more
