I originally reached out to Our Family Handyman to do repairs, after another company came and did some demo to my kitchen. Thanks to an icedam, my kitchen leaked, paint peeled and exposed some mold. The other company waited until the day of-an hr before hand, to tell me that they were coming to do the demo. I got an uneasy feeling and reached out to Kyle. Kyle and Aiden came the next week, they took care of the moldy sheet rock and re painted my whole entire kitchen/mud room for less than the price of one quote from another company. My project took a little bite longer than expected, but i had full access to my kitchen. On the last day, Kyle and Aiden had to move my heavy stackable washer/dryer to finish painting my walls. I was out through out the day and when i finally returned home, they were done! Or so we thought haha. I went to do a load of laundry and had no water. Reached out to Kyle and withing 30mins he was back to my place and fixed the problem! I will be reaching out to Our Family Handyman in the future for any more jobs! Kyle has done various projects for us since we bought our home in 2022--he rebuilt our deck, did bathroom and kitchen renovations, and various carpentry and painting projects. His work has always been high quality and timely, and his prices have been fair. In a couple of cases we needed his help quickly, and he was right there for us. I have postponed leaving this review in hopes that the situation would resolve on it's own. I hate leaving negative feedback but people need to have all the information they need to make an informed decision. I selected Our Family Handyman based on his online reviews and now wish I'd done more research. I had a signed contract with Our Family Handyman to remodel my basement based on time and materials. Per the contract, work would start February 2023 and conclude May 2023. Workers showed up sporadically and by August his team was still working on drywall patching and mudding. By September, Kyle completely abandoned the job. I paid every invoice on time so I'll never know why he stopped responding to texts, emails and phone calls. Requests for him to simply deliver the materials I had paid for and never received went unanswered. What follows is my summary of issues I had with Kyle and his workers. After reviewing all invoices I found that Kyle charged me for an exterior door, storm door and column cap sets that was never delivered/installed. He also disposed of fully-functioning bi-fold doors, only to charge me for purchasing new ones which were never delivered. There was also a miscalculation on use of my deposit, the balance now remains at $544.00. Kyle also overcharged for disposal fees $250. As for workmanship; the flooring was installed before the walls were painted. The floor was not protected while work continued. This neglect resulted in me spending 18 hours cleaning paint, cement and grout off the flooring. While cleaning the flooring, I found over 15 points of damage to the flooring which will require entire sections of the floor to be replaced in order to protect the waterproof integrity. All of the walls had to be repainted to cover damage and poor painting techniques. The drywall around all outlets had to be patched to cover gaps. Pocket door hardware had to be removed, patched and reinstalled to cover mistakes. Kyle abandoned this project without installing the bathroom toilet, countertop, plumbing fixtures, baseboard heating, ceiling tiles, exterior doors, three interior doors, support post encasements, stair railing, and fixing the flooring his worker damaged. I have called in other trades people to finish this project and from them I'm still learning some of the errors Kyle and his worker made in this project which will need to be fixed before the job can be completed This is obviously thousands of dollars I've lost and I will be seeking legal compensation. Paid a $4,878.00 deposit on a bathroom remodel that has not happened. Kyle has become a ghost, won't return calls or emails. Hopefully the Sherriff's office has better luck finding him than I have had read more

I contacted "our Family Handyman" in June for a few home improvement projects. Owner/operator Kyle was prompt and quickly gave us an estimate. it did seem high but being new to the area and having a difficult time finding a contractor we signed a contract and was required to pay 30% up front. He was given $1837 as up front money, then next 30% when work started and the final cash due upon completion. That was the last we heard from him. I e-mailed once to see if a shower repair could start sooner and he said they would try to work it in but the bulk of the work was scheduled for the last week of August. That time came and went. I sent severl e-mails and never got a response. I left several voice mails and even tried his instagram! I went to his address of the business but he wasn't there. It did appear he was a legitamate contractor given the equipment in the yard but I have serious doubts. It appears to be nothing but a fraud. I have filed a complaint with the better business bureau and my next step is legal acction. read more

We booked Kyle to remove an old, wall-mounted microwave, install new microwave brackets, mount a brand-new microwave above our oven, and put two screws in to anchor an already installed dishwasher. We paid $425 for this work. Five months later, our microwave just fell off the brackets after someone opened the door. After seeing that Kyle used velcro sticky tape to secure the very heavy, very large 30" microwave to the brackets (just the velcro tape, no screws) and the right bracket was so wiggly it wasn't installed into a stud, I called and left a voicemail saying I had questions on a job he did for our office. I received a call back from Kyle within an hour. When I explained what had happened and that it seemed like he used velcro tape to anchor a microwave to the brackets and the brackets weren't installed securely to the wall, Kyle said he wanted pictures and to come back and look at the job in-person because he couldn't remember doing the job that way. I immediately sent him a picture and videos of the broken microwave and brackets and he never responded. Over the course of two weeks, I've called and left voicemails and sent follow-up emails with no response. I would not recommend using Our Family Handyman due to the poor quality of work, the amount of money this has cost us, and the complete lack of response from Kyle and Katie. read more

Our Family Handyman is a great family owned business! Kyle was prompt and timely with his service when it comes to scheduling. As far as workmanship Kyle just cannot be beat and I would recommend them over any other contracting company in the Augusta/Lewiston area. Kyle was very professional and courteous. They completed our basement remodel in a timely manner and they did quality/excellent work! Our new basement looks beautiful!! Kyle was always available to answer questions and address concerns from start to finish. I would highly recommend OUR FAMILY HANDYMAN for any of your needs. We will certainly use him again!
