Happy is an understatement! Since enrolling our daughter in OFLC-Allston 3 months ago, we have had an AMAZING experience. The teachers and staff are all amazing.... Every single one. Sephora was the one who sold my partner and I (and my mother!) on OFLC and we were hesitant because (as all childcare in Boston) it was pricey but we decided that our peace of mind knowing our daughter was being well-cared for was worth every single penny. Dropping her off was hard as with every parent who has ever had to do it, but Sephora personally checked in on her three or four times during that first day and personally made sure she was okay. Our daughter had a hard time with the transition and made plenty of pouty faces at her dad and myself when we dropped her off but she now LOVES it. She is so happy and calm at drop-off. We place our daughter twice a week and when one of our scheduled days falls on a holiday, we can easily place her another day that week so we always get care for the paid amount. Her teacher, Miss Desiree is AMAZING! This teacher goes above and beyond for our daughter. EVERY TIME I come in and she sees I may be nervous about something, she asks me about it, notes my concern, tells me everything will be fine, then writes me personal messages about the baby's progress during the day. It is amazing! The baby loves her. I really can't say enough great things about her. AND about the center. They have even gotten her to NAP! I am convinced that Miss Desiree is a witch with magical baby powers. Leslie, the classroom aide is also so AMAZING and nurturing towards Reese. I can tell my daughter enjoys it when she is around and interacting with her, and she is so kind and warm and welcoming. Since starting, Reese is reaching and exceeding all of her developmental milestones. Her pediatrician is thrilled with how alert and active she is and I know that part of that is attributed to the way the center stimulates her. One of our most important requirements for our chosen care was that they require all staff and children to be vaccinated. Our Future Learning Center-Allston requires that all staff and students be up to date with their vaccines and it really gives us peace of mind to know that when she comes home feeling under the weather, it is nothing a little rest and snuggles won't fix, which is so important given the recent outbreak of measles in this country as of recently. The center is secure and locked down. Only registered family/friends can pick up your child, and you can only access the building by fingerprint registration. They also use their own app (Remini) to send us photo updates on our daughter throughout the day! I could write for days. Parents, sending your children to daycare is SO HARD! I know. Ok, so this review is based on my interactions with staff and our first day. I will update my review after some time. We first spoke to Julie out if the Marlboro location and in comparison to many other local daycares, her kindness and professionalism blew me away. She was knowledgeable and took the time to answer all of my questions. She offered to set up a time for me to visit the Allston location where we will be sending our son, but I declined because I needed time to figure out when would be good. There was absolutely no attempt to hide the cost of the program, which was awesome because so many schools want to meet with you before they give you tuition cost. I met with Sephora in Allston and she is amazing. She is warm, welcoming, kind, and she didn't rush us out or pressure us. I felt like I had known her forever. I immediately fell in love with the space, which includes beautiful classrooms, a nice playground fenced in outside and a huge gym area. The place was clean and beautiful and during nap time, so peaceful. The teachers were so kind, smiling, not a single child upset, not even in the infant room. On our first day today, my son was ecstatic. It was his first day of school EVER and he has only been watched by family members and very rarely. He was so happy and he was following along with the other children eating breakfast and lunch. I couldn't be happier. And the school was so accommodating, in more ways than I can explain. They didn't even attempt to rush us out or anything when we first arrived. We stuck around to make sure he was ok and they didn't seem to mind at all. Even the parents were stopping to introduce themselves and tell us how awesome the school was. It's like a little community. On our way out we met the owner, Lee, who immediately recognized a new face and asked if this was Ben (my son). He wasn't in a rush at all and took the time to chat with us and ask us how things were going and how we felt so far. I imagine with three locations he is a pretty busy guy, but he clearly cares about his school as well as the staff and families. I know it's only the first day, but so far I am amazed and I recommend that others consider looking into this school. It is one of the most affordable schools in the area and they have a flexible schedule and offer fresh meals and snacks, included in tuition. I've been through this before as I have two girls who are 8, and while I feel I lucked out with great schools in the past, this one seems really special. read more

Our Future Learning Center was recommended to us by some friends we respect and trust. But this trust doesn't necessarily convince a one year old that she would be fine at school without us. On her first day, we were all nervous and she was quite resistant. But the staff warmly welcomed us, encouraged us that we all would be fine, and scooped her out of our arms, bringing her into a new and exciting stage of life. And now after two years at "OFLC" she cannot wait to go to school and is so sad to leave. Because of OFLC our house is now filled with art projects, stories about friends, and new ideas and classroom skills. In addition to a great learning environment OFLC has provided us a number of other important elements including: · Flexibility for our unique schedule. · A diverse staff who love the kids and have always been willing to give thorough feedback about the progress and development of our child. · Age appropriate curriculum with a great combination of imaginative play and physical activity. · Accommodations for our daughter's life-threatening allergy Lest you grow suspicious of my glowing recommendation, I will also add that there are areas for the school to improve. Now under new management there are some minor logistical quirks being worked out. And I would love to see more direct parent involvement, i.e. more open houses, invitations to help in the classroom, etc. But at the end of the day what matters most to me is a safe environment where my daughter's heart, mind and imagination can come to life. This review is long overdue, it's been over a year since we left, but I needed to write this review! My son Elijah attended daycare here from February to June of 2014. It was a really good school, the people were nice and the manager Angel brought so much love and excitement to the facility. I felt VERY comfortable leaving my 7 month old son there. I had issues leaving him in daycare especially after visiting a larger chain in somerville that I was not pleased with. The classes at OLC are perfectly balanced with a good student/teacher ratio. And the children and the staff are extremely diverse, which is really important to my family. Elijah loved it there and he would run to the door because he couldn't wait to say good morning to Miss Angel and all of his little friends!!! He would even go into all of the rooms to find Angel if she wasn't at her desk. I took Elijah out of the daycare during the summer because I stopped working and when I returned to school we were able to get a daycare much closer to home but I have always held this place and the people in high esteem. Angel would call to check in on Elijah if I called out for the day and even when we withdrew him from the school, she called to see how things were going. She really sends the message that she cares about the children, the families and her staff. I don't know if she is still there, but I hope she is! She is such a cool, fun loving and intelligent woman and she was really good for the center. She brought so much life!!! Jasmine in the infant room was awesome! And the staff in the older infant/toddler room were awesome too. If you are looking for a place to leave your children... this is a good spot. They may not be perfect, as no place is, however they are open to the families and their suggestions and will meet or exceed your expectations. Love, love, love this place! Excellent daycare center. Our 1-year-old son has been going there for several months. The atmosphere in this center is somehow very good. You can tell that the staff, from director Sephora to the teachers, like their work. There's never a raised voice, yet everything feels organized. They do enrichment activities: guitar sing-alongs, a visiting petting zoo. Teachers are attentive to the individual kids. Sometimes they'll send you photos of the kids during the day. The Center owner sends his own twins to this daycare, to the same group as our son -- something of a vote of confidence in his own center. The food they prepare for kids is not the healthiest (mac and cheese), but at least there _is_ food if on some day you don't send your own. read more

My daughter who is five has been going there since she has been one, and my daughter who is three, we started her at 4 months because we love and trust them so much. My daughters wake up excited to go to school, and sad when I am there to pick them up. The teachers are very caring and we think of them all as family. Also, my kids are so outgoing and advanced over other kids their age, and I think alot has to do with the ongoing activities and curriculum that the school offers. We just love it there!!! read more

Thank you to everyone at Our Future Learning Center! It is the BEST! My daughter was attending OFLC full-time from the age of 2 to 3-years-9 months old, and then she went on to school (but through the year she kept asking to go back to see her favorite teachers and friends). This summer we brought her back and couldn't be happier!!! We LOVE everyone at OFLC! It is a big daycare, but everyone is genuinely warm and loves kids, so - it feels like a big great family with lots of collaboration and support. The gym space is amazing, and - seems so luxurious, bright and spacious comparing to nearly all other daycare options i have seen in Allston and Brookline (i checked out about 15 of them back when my daughter was 2 and I was choosing the best place for her to go to.) Also, unlike most other daycares - they provide great (cooked!!!) meals - breakfast, lunch and snack. In terms of activities it's great too! - my daughter was learning new letters and new songs every day. She'd bring tons of pictures and projects home, so - for the age of 4 - it's as good as school. My daughter's favorite teachers are Miss Olga, Miss Grojina, Miss Janet, and Miss Malika. We are definitely hoping to come back next summer, and planning on enrolling our younger daughter soon. :) read more

So what can I say about OFLC? Everything! Everything from how great the staff are up from Management (Mr. Lee, Ms. Sephora, Ms. Shillian) to the teachers (Ms. Olga, Mrs. Robin, Ms. Ragina, Ms. Katie and many more) down to housekeeping. I love it! I love them and was truly sad to leave. It's a touching story of how I found OFLC. Was at a rough time with child sitting and very scared to trust anyone with my 6month old. I kept turning up with Daycares stating they were full, eventually finding placement with another Daycare in Roxbury, Ma. However, my spirit wasn't right. I somehow came across OFLC. After trying to research them (reviews were under another old daycare) I was apprehensive. I called and spoke with Nicole (the first Director I ever met). From the sweetness of her voice to bubbly personality, my spirit was finally at ease. I toured the facility and was IMPRESSED! Cleanliness, Security, etc they had it. The current director Sephora is more than great than any director I know. She takes the time to get to know each family and child individually. That's dedication. That's true love. I knew I made the right choice. As stated my daughter has been there (and still frequently visit on breaks) from 6mos-5yrs old... she KNOWS NO ONE BUT OFLC! Lol... now that she is in Regular school she always ask can she go back and visit her "little school" (bc now she's in big girl school). This is a school I will trust will all my kids (if I have more lol). I would truly recommend OLFC to anyone searching for childcare. My daughter would 2nd that too... She loves her "Ms. Olga and Ms.Sephora". When looking for childcare, your not just looking for someone to watch your child(ren) but another replica of yourself. They are my co-parent. My two children have been at OFLC Allston (formerly Skazka/Fairy Tale Children's Center) for the last 8 years. The daycare features 3 meals (breakfast, hot lunch, and a snack), extended hours (7:30am-6pm, included in the price), a small outdoor playground, an indoor gym, a music teacher (weekly), a library, and an optional Russian and Math instructor ($60/month each, weekly). The daycare has recently undergone a change in ownership, and has gone from 3.5 stars recently to 5 now, featuring all-new: improved curriculum a second, HUGE gym an art studio possibly a music room (to be determined) OFLC accepts children starting at a very early age (6 weeks or so?). Overall any daycare depends on the teachers. The problem with any daycare is that they have high attrition because they pay low. Our child is 3 and has been going there for about a year. We are at Allston center. Pros: Professional management, own kitchen (remote), OK teachers, Two play areas, curriculum includes some project work almost daily, warm management (they are trying to change for the better), Internal camera surveillance (but they don't provide it to parents) Cons: Consistent shortage of staff, Unreliable teacher presence (there is a very high incidence of substitute teachers instead of one teacher regularly present in one class, which brings it's own level of complications with parent as well as child having to start the relationship once again), own kitchen still no visible improvement toward healthy food, Play time very limited (they could utilize gym and play area more), Not enough nutrition (child always hungry when he comes back), Not enough commitment from teachers, very high teacher attrition, young and inexperienced teachers not very passionate about childcare - Good at speaking is different from good at child care. Overall giving a 4 star because it is better than other day cares in the locality. Day care centers are pathetic in what they can charge and what they get away with not doing. It has professional management who are of late, working to bring positive changes and some teachers who are good. Our child has developed some, there. Hates going to school, but I guess it is normal. Teachers can never match care given by parents, but passionate teachers do make a difference, of which there are so few. read more

My son started at OFLC Allston from 4.3 and left for K2 in this Sept. The year and half he was here was a wonderful experience. He has got lots of love and attention, not only from his teacher, but also from teachers in other classrooms, the director, and the owner Mr. Lee. Preschool teachers are very creative, loving, and encouraging. The big indoor gym with hardwood floor and large windows is such a huge plus for the long winter in Boston. This school is a dream come true . Being a first time Mom and returning to work was so difficult , leaving my baby with someone else and hoping that she was in as good of hands as I felt when I visited. A year later , my daughter asks to go to school on Saturday morning and speaks fondly of her teachers and peers. This school feels like taking your child to Family , well honestly it is , my daughter is consistently nurtured and cared for beyond my greatest expectation at OFLC Allston. My son has been going to this daycare center for 2 years now, ever since he was 12 weeks old. They provide lunch and snack everyday, and have great hours in a convenient to the city location. All the teachers have been excellent, the daycare ranges from infants to pre-k and all the teachers know my son's name. The teachers are also great about catering to individual needs and interests of the kids. They have a music class that my son LOVES. He sings all the way home on music day. The kids are always working on art projects in class. There is a great indoor gym so the kids can let off steam even on rainy days, as well as an outdoor fenced-in playground. I can only think of a few downsides: The daycare is on the 3rd floor of an older building and the elevator is slow, but this is a building management issue. The building probably does need a new roof, but the daycare itself is clean and well maintained. The only issue with the with daycare itself is that staff turnover is not always well communicated to the parents. In the future, I hope the owners will send out notices so parents can prepare the kids for who they won't see anymore. My 2 children have been going to oflc for over 2 years now. My daughter will be leaving to start public school next month. She will greatly miss the center and all of the wonderful staff. I am a mother of a 11 month baby whom I have been sending to Our Future Learning center (OFLC) (Allston) recently. Knowing that daycare is the place that my baby spends most time in, I made sure that I chose the best daycare center that I can afford for my baby. I chose OFLC because I had great impression on every aspect of this daycare center. The classroom is spacious, bright and clean. The center is well-equipped with everything baby needs including cribs, bouncer, swings and many other things. More importantly, I like their teachers very much, because they are highly professional, well-experienced, and have genuine affections towards babies. I also found it pleasant to communicate with them. My baby loves the teachers there too, especially Ms. Vania and Ms. Mvjuda, and it helps him to quickly adjust to the new environment. Another aspect that I like the center is that the owner and director are always around overseeing the teachers and the center, and their presence and leadership bring more energy and motivation to the teachers. Overall, I feel OFLC (Allston) is a trustworthy place that I can send my child there with a peace of mind. I highly recommend this place to any one who is looking for a quality daycare for their children. read more

I completely disagree with the first reviewer. I am a parent with a 2 y.o. that has been at the center from infancy. The care and attention of the teachers to my child is absolutely tremendous. Lida, Svetlana, and many other of the teachers (and their respective teams) are a treasure and to be honest, I am sad that one would give such a negative review the center as the first reviewer without actually having a child there. Maria, who organizes the center is lovely and caring--often stepping in to help. There are structural problems with the building, this is true--and they are being addressed very rapidly by the building management as well as by the new owners and I have never been concerned with my child's safety in this building. It's probably not a center for overprotective, baby-eistein & Melissa & Doug worshipping parents--the style is more carefree. This is not to be confused with dangerous or careless. As a result of this, the price performance of this center is second to none with hot meals every day and loving and caring teachers, it cannot be beat. My daughter runs, not walks to "school", screaming "bye mama" and giving a big hug to whatever teacher in the gym early morning. She is there all day and these wonderful people have taught my daughter the skills I am confident she needs in life. She is smart and caring, and I owe much of that to the teachers that take care of her. The kind of confidence I have leaving my daughter at this center while I work all day cannot be bought. I have toured (even put up a month-downpayment that i lost) for much more fancy and expensive centers and pulled out at the last minute because the individual attention to my daughter was not on par. This is a very diverse center, as well with many of the teachers speaking multiple languages. I was surprised when my daughter yelled "Ola! Adios!" without me eve speaking spanish to her. My daughter also is bilingual Russian-English which is supported and encouraged by the center's staff. It is important that children learn that diversity is something to be accepted when they live and grow up in the US, especially. Not sure what else to say except that we will really miss everyone here when we move back to California in the summer!!! read more

Reason for choosing: We have a five year old daughter and one year old boy at OFLC. My daughter has been here since she was 3 months old. We live between Allston and Brookline, and work in the Longwood medical area. So when my wife was pregnant, we looked at various places in all those areas. We chose OFLC because the staff seemed more caring and less business-like, and the facility was cleaner than most, and other kids and parents from many different backgrounds, including Russian (although we are not), appeared genuinely happy. Management: Now that we've been here for almost five years, we didn't realize when we started how important this is. You mostly talk to teachers, so you don't appreciate how the management/owners can set the tone and standards for the entire school. The previous owners were nice, but their own kids finished attending the same daycare, and I felt that their heart was no longer in it, and they weren't as involved. But OFLC has had a new owner since last year, and the improvements have been remarkable. I have seen the owner buying furniture for kids, greatly expanding play area, washing blankets in the baby room himself, making changes to staff and teachers so that the focus remains on the kids not people who work there, etc. He has a track record of running really successful daycare centers elsewhere, and he is in the process of bringing many of those ideas to OFLC. The excitement among teachers and parents and kids is palpable (we are about to open the biggest indoor playground/reading area/arts&crafts area in Boston within the daycare). Teachers: Many teachers here actually come from Russia or nearby countries, and many of them have advanced degrees in child psychology, education, music etc. before coming to the US and working at a daycare. Many are also older and have much life experiences, which is apparent in how they deal with kids, parents, and one another. They all speak English fluently, and our daughter reads/writes/speaks English very well. There have been a couple of sad departures of teachers we loved dearly, but fortunately they have been replaced by other teachers who are as equally loving and effective. The teaching style varies. The school overall has a well structured programs that is communicated to parents by email, but there are teachers who also emphasize free style thinking, creativity, and critical thinking (again, a benefit of having some teachers with much educational and/or psychology background). The result has been that our kids adore their teachers, we have grown close to all of them, and our daughter is meeting or exceeding her educational and personal developmental milestones. Facility: It's on a third floor of an office building. The school has a high ceiling, multiple spacious rooms for classes, library, and an enclosed outdoor playground where kids can run around, ride bikes, play in sand and playhouses. The new owner has been upgrading all of the baby cribs, tables, decor etc. The new indoor playground/reading room/arts&crafts room is a converted dance studio, and it is huge (the largest in Boston). We can't wait for it too be open soon. And I really hope they open it up on weekends. They have installed some HDTV screens with pictures of kids throughout the day so that parents can see them when they come into pick them up. Cost: Raising kids in Boston is expensive. So this is a consideration. OFLC is ~$200-300 less expensive than other daycare centers we visited in the longwood and Brookline area. So given all the positives, especially with the new improvements, this daycare is definitely worth a look. Summary: We love this daycare before all the improvements. We now love it more. Everyone should at least check this daycare out, especially if they live in Allston/Brighton/Brookline. A bit of growing pain is definitely worth for what's to come, and it's really nice at the end of the day driving home and hearing my daughter saying how much she loves her teachers and how she wants to invite all of them home. read more

We had great experiences at this daycare (which as recently changed ownership and name). The short version is that we are confident that our children are safe and are continuing to get a good educational experience here with many knowledgeable and caring teachers and administrative staff. Our son and daughter's social and language skills have come a long way since starting at this day care. The hours are great (7:30-6pm) and gives us the flexibility to go to work early and stay late when necessary. The prices are also very reasonable compared to other commercial day care options and even comparable to many family day care prices (at least for the ones in Cambridge). If you are interested in the long version, please read on. Both our kids started in the infant room and are now in the preschool-toddler and pre-K classes. Our son, now 4.5 years old, has been going there since he was 13 months and our daughter, now 2.5 years old, has been going there since she was 6 months old. The teachers are patient and attentive. Grazyna (pre-K teacher) is caring, attentive, takes time to talk to parents and understands children psychology. She really cares about providing education to the kids and often brings them treats like healthy fruit and does educational projects likes learning about outer space and also holiday projects like pumpkin carving. She picks an educational theme/week and they focus on it for the entire week. Olga (pre-K co-teacher) is also wonderful, patient, and attentive to the needs of our kids and parents. We even trusted Olga to take both our kids home on the bus for us on numerous occasions these past few months. Our daughter's preschool-toddler teachers Sveta and co-teacher Sara are also wonderful and patient and really interact with the kids. Our daughter often does not want to go home at the end of the day and says that she wants to stay at school. There are also so many helpful teachers (too many to list here) that rotate between the classes to cover for regular teachers on their days off or sick days which is nice. I know that there will always be someone watching for my kids. While our kids have moved up in classrooms, they both still wave and give their former preschool and Toddler teachers a hug. Lida and Ms. Sheila have been wonderful teachers! Our kids are happy to see them and were very attached to them when they were in their classrooms. Our son is a very active and intense boy who requires limits and does well in an environment that encourages learning; otherwise, he will get bored easily and start to test limits and misbehave. The teachers do a great job with providing the intellectual stimulation and constant attention that our son requires. They have circle time where they read stories and sing songs. They also have weekly music class where they bring in a musician (our kids talk about Peter a lot!). They do art projects such as painting, play dough, and coloring. They talk about different topics such as colors, clothes, and holidays. They also have free play time with many toys and books. My kids will often sit in the corner reading by himself during free time! We also like the variety in the lunch menu as well and my son will actually eat. They also provide breakfast and snacks. Our kids also will usually take naps there since they are good about setting routines. They have special events such as pre-K Olympics (friendly obstacle course competitions) and holiday parties during the year. We also love the open feel of the Allston location. High loft ceilings and lots of play space for the kids. There is an enclosed outdoor space with various playscapes, ride on toys, and a sand box. We know our kids are safe playing out there. When it's raining/snowing or too cold, they have an open gym/play room for the kids to run around and get exercise. They also have an elevator and a parking lot. The administration sends out regular emails to keep parents updated. They also post holiday closings and announcements. To summarize, we are very satisfied and happy that we are at this daycare and our children are happy. I highly recommend this daycare. read more

We recently moved our son (2.5) out, but we were sorry to leave. He started at 15 months, and was totally loyal to Lida from literally the first day. (She is the Pied Piper for toddlers, it's crazy.) The center was great for him, and was also pretty great from a parent's perspective. We were there mostly before the new ownership, so I don't know whether anything will change in the near future, but we were really satisfied. There's a ton of space for the kids to move around, including a private-use (fenced in) playground that they use until it gets too cold. The rates were SUPER reasonable, and I don't think I've seen a place of that caliber that was any less. I also really liked that it's pretty heterogeneous in the kids who attend, rather than just being all rich white kids from suburbs. The world my son is growing up in is diverse, and I actually really appreciated being able to get him familiar with that from so early on. Another thing I appreciated about this center is that they really do try to be open if they can, rather than close for every possible holiday or snowstorm. As a working parent, that's huge. So what's the catch? The lunches and snacks are pretty standard kid-food (hot dogs, pizza, bananas) rather than some of the organic, nutritionist-designed meals that you get at more expensive centers. We were comfortable with that tradeoff, and it made us be a bit more attentive to making sure he (and we) ate lots of veggies at home. The head teachers are pretty consistent (Lida, Sveta, Grazyna and others) and there's fairly little turnover there, but there does seem to be a lot of movement among the junior staff. I think that's pretty common across the industry, but we did notice that there would sometimes be a teacher in the classroom we'd never seen before. All in all, we honestly found it to be a great and reliable daycare center, with lovely staff, good facilities, great pricing, awesome hours, and a convenient location. read more

I am so thankful to all of the teachers' hard work at Our Future Learning Center. My daughter grows healthily under their cares in the past 3.5 years. She will continue to stay with OFLC. She loves the teachers very much. The teachers also teach them more advance math, spelling, and sciences, etc... according to the kid's individual levels. She has a lot of fun learning new things in the class such as dancing Zumba, meeting the Mr. Karate man and bringing home a free book from special kid's programs every week. She also have a great time outside, eg. field trips with teachers and her little classmates. It is so blessing to have all of this wonderful curricula and teachers with plenty of love in OFLC. read more

My son has been going to this facility for almost a year and there are numerous advantages here compare to other places. First and most important is management. They sincerely care about what they are doing. The well being of children is important to them. This might seem obvious but we found places where this was not a milestone. Second - bilingual abilities of the teachers as it is at-most important for us.
