I try to do as much work as I can myself, but I've taken my vehicles to Our Mechanic several times over the last few years for things I did not feel comfortable working on. Every time I drive away happy. I think it is hard to find a shop you can actually trust, but believe me - these guys are legit and that's why I stick with them. They've ended up saving me money by being honest about the issues my vehicle has had, and that is the kind of service that keeps me coming back. They've always performed work on time, as quoted, and properly. The only complaint I've ever had is when I brought my vehicle there and a customer took my keys by accident. They had to call them up, and go get them from the guy while I waited an extra hour. That totally sucked, but it was on honest mistake and they made up for it by giving me a discount on my next repair. Seriously - if you want an HONEST shop that isn't going to screw you by telling you your car needs something it doesn't or by taking their time to perform an easy task, try these guys out. I brought my vehicle to this shop for repairs following an independent out-of-province inspection. I was quoted over $2,500 for the work, which included a power steering pump replacement and a wheel alignment. Neither of these items was listed as a failure on the official government inspection report. The shop attempted to inflate the bill with several questionable charges. They EVEN quoted 1.5 hours of labor to install a seat that simply clicks into the seat brackets. When I asked about light bulb repairs, they claimed it could take hours to check the wiring and suggested there might be complex electrical issues. (Without even changing a bulb yet) Additionally, they charged me an $80 inspection fee for doing nothing and a $48 charge for a minor brake adjustment that I never authorized. When I moved my vehicle to an honest shop, I received a quote for the exact same required repairs for $1,400 including the unauthorized repairs this shop was claiming they needed to do. It was still far less than the quote I received at OUR MECHANIC. Troy the manager seemed to be really trying hard to bolster the costs of everything and mentioned over 10 times the fact that I had gotten an out of province inspection done somewhere other than his shop which seemed to be problematic for him. I felt pressured and was repeatedly told I should have used their facility for the inspection and that they would have prioritized my vehicle if I had come to them for the out of province inspection as well. Which led me to get a creeped out feeling that they were predatory and dishonest. Glad I saved myself so much money by going somewhere else. read more

I will never go back ever again bad service disrespectful improper work they didn't look to see if it was being put back together correctly my truck like junk pushing out oil it never did before one plug had oil all over it the pcv hose was twisted so air pressure couldn't get through it I changed that hose and fixed the problem and leaks I would never recommend them to anybody ever again read more

I found these guys by way of great Yelp reviews, and I am so happy I did! They are just like others have already said - honest, friendly, and good at what they do. I feel completely respected even though I know next to nothing about cars. They explain everything to me so I can understand, without ever talking down to me, and I am consistently surprised by the bill being less than expected. My dad even goes there now...and he used to do his own work as much as possible until his eyes got a little less sharp. He was my mechanic until I found these guys! That is saying something! I was referred to Troy and Ryley by a coworker a few years ago after I had a few bad experiences with the Nissan dealerships in town. On my first visit I was having issues with some brake judder. I ASKED to have all four rotors and pads replaced. I was prepared for the expense and I wasn't looking for a quick fix. They told me that they'd do the work if I absolutely insisted but it wasn't anywhere near necessary and that I had 80% left on my pads and I should come back in 20-40,000kms. I was blown away that they were so honest and didn't just take my money and run. I've gone back for every major and minor repair since. Awesome service at a fair price. Thanks guys! read more

Great place, these guys know their stuff, and they aren't out to hose you, just make an honest living. How refreshing! The Nissan dealer (who shall remain nameless....on second thought, why? It was Stadium Nissan) fed me a line about my 2000 Maxima - which is just sitting at 100K km's-- needing a new engine wiring harness. And they would replace it and fix it all up nice and pretty for only $4000. Ya, four THOUSAND bucks. A trusted dealership (in another province) referred me to Our Mechanic. These guys checked it over with a microscope ( and didn't charge me just to look at it like the dealership did) and then told me the issue was probably one of two things, couldn't be entirely sure which, but recommended I go the cheaper route and see if that took care of the engine light issue i was having. Yup, that FOUR THOUSAND DOLLAR problem turned out to be the wrong kind of spark plugs. Thank you, thank you, thank you Our Mechanic. You guys are my heroes. The only reason I didn't give you the whole 5 star treatment is 'cause I've been to you one time. The only teensy complaint, is that the hours are hard to work around if you have a regular job, as they are only open 8-5 Monday-Friday. But that is nothing compared to what they actually do, which is good automotive work for an honest buck. read more

If I could give them zero stars I would, I took my new car in (new to me anyway) for $1400 worth of work on Friday June 21 st. , This car is my pride and joy. When I picked it up on Monday I noticed it was damaged. I called them to tell them and was told to bring it in. When I arrived, I was bullied by Troy and another guy and accused of lying. Then Dwight the owner (Troy's father) called me up and also accused me of lying. He asked if maybe it had been hit on the weekend at the mall (sexist comment) when in fact they had my car ALL WEEKEND...I had an appointment to take my other car in tomorrow to get work done but since they smashed up my new car, I don't feel comfortable that they won't smash up this one too. I hope they are happy because they have lost my business, my parent's business, my friends business, my co-workers business all because they wouldn't admit to damaging my car. Very pleased with the honest advice and reasonable rates. The dealer said I needed new brake pads and rotors all around and wanted an exorbitant amount to do them. Our Mechanic checked them and said the back was fine and did the front only, saving me quite a bit money. read more

Our Mechanic is the best auto repair shop in Calgary. To begin with, they are refreshingly honest. I have used them for all of my older vehicles that are not under warranty and I am going to try them out for my new cars as well. They do terrific work and stand by it. Look, for any naysayers, a mechanic cannot be perfect. They diagnose issues to the best of their ability; but the fellas at Our Mechanic are usually spot on and most importantly, unlike many mechanics and most dealerships, they do not intentionally try to rip anybody off.
