Kaelin Farm Market is family-owned and first opened in 1946. Today, the farm grows a variety of…read morevegetables and fruits, and it also includes a retail store, a bakery for pies, and greenhouses for flowers and other plants. On a Saturday, my husband and I visited the retail store. When we entered the store, the employee near the door did not greet us. As we walked around the two floors, we saw foods such as pumpkins, apples, corn, tomatoes, apple ciders, pies, cookies, chips, jellies, honeys, chocolate bars, and even Penn State ice cream. We also saw non-food products such as tote bags, holiday decorations, serving trays, and greeting cards. I picked out a bag of honey-crisp apples, a box of peach-cobbler mix, a loaf of zucchini bread, a peanut-butter chocolate bar, and a jar of fig preserves. Another employee rang up our purchase, processed our credit card, carefully bagged our foods, and thanked us.

The decor is beautiful and you are greeted by a rustic and inviting setting when you drive up and again when you walk in. The customer service was very friendly and had that touch you see less of nowadays. It's the kind of place that makes you feel good inside and out. I bought an apple crumble and will likely pick up a pumpkin pie next time.

I was pleasantly surprised by how many vendor Bellevue farmer's market has for being a suburban…read moremarket. There were probably about 25 tents of vendors, with a variety of offerings such as juice, dip mixes, olive oils, hummus, cheeses, fresh produce, flowers, jams, pies, hot food such as Mediterranean and dumplings. We talked to the organizer, and one thing that surprised me was that he said he prefers to only have one vendor of each type at the market, mostly to ensure that each vendor makes money while there. I can understand this approach, but I felt for a farmer's market the fresh produce offerings were lacking. Given that there were only 1-2 produce vendors, the prices were set as they pleased and the breadth of produce was limited. Maybe this will improve as we get later in the growing season. The location is nice. The space is very green and has a playground for kids to play in. The market also offers a "toy library" when you can check out a toy to play with for the evening (hula hoop, bubbles, balls, etc.). There was a live performer the day we were there, and there were also picnic tables for us to sit at and enjoy our dumplings we bought at the market.

Very disappointed on my first visit to this farmers market. The website lists at least 3 times…read moretimes more vendors than were actually there. Only two fresh produce stands. One stand was selling fresh corn for $15/dozen... guess that they realized there was no competition. I really looked forward to finally being able to fit in a trip to Bellevue to do this, but will not be returning.
