I went on a trip to Binghamton, New York today. Can't lie, my trip there was not bad because I arrived on time and I came out unscathed. Didn't have the complementary water though. All in all, just subpar. BUT where OurBus really dropped the bomb was on my way back to the city. They did have the water this time but I sat all the way in the back (not their fault, my stop was the last one). But it wreaked of pee the entire ride. 4 hours on a bus and the fumes of pee was all over the bus, EVERYONE smelled it. But not just that I had placed my bag on the floor (terrible idea) and my bag is soaked in all that nasty funk and all my school stuff is RUINED. Again, I understand it was my bad judgement to place my bag down but come on I shouldn't have to be warned that my bag will be drenched in pee. Will not be coming back for any future rides. My son was coming from college back home for the holiday, he was waiting for the bus for over an hour and then found out that the bus driver didn't even stop at the bus stop. He was left stranded there in the middle of the nights with other passengers. Ourbus customer services kept promising to send an Uber to bring these passengers to NYC from Albany, but my son waited for another 3 hours and nothing was done. I was lucky to find him an Amtrak ticket for the following morning and he had to spend the night at the train station. Th Ourbus operator refused to even reimburse me for their ticket and the Amtrak ticket that i had to pay. They kept asking my son to pay for an Uber to NYC. This was such a horrifying experience for us. This company should be held accountable for this level of disregard to people time, comfort and wellbeing. read more

I've used several bus companies such as Peter Pan, Greyhound, Megabus, and OurBus by far is the best company. The bus is clean, it provides water, and the best part is the service. When there was an accident on the freeway that delayed the bus, ourbus refunded the credits back to my account to use for another ride. The accident was not their fault, and I didn't expect a refund but but they pride themselves on customer service. This is the only bus I'll ride! Thanks for such a great experience read more

Took a Bus from NYC to Syracuse, it's pretty good

I have never taken the bus from the DC area to NYC, even though I have been making the trip for a very long time. This bus is quick and easy. Reclining sears and WiFi for watching movies. The convenience of the Georgia Avenue FREE commuter lot near Norbeck is excellent. The bus made one stop in Columbia going up to NY. The drop off was great on Park Avenue around 26th. Coming back was supposed to be nonstop, but there was some mix up with a group of people and the driver let them off in White Marsh. I felt badly for them, but the bus should keep the exact schedule that is displayed on the app or website. We also departed about 15 minutes late out of NYC. Overall good bus and very easy! read more

NYC to Ithaca: I have never been in such a cramped seat in all my life. Worse than any airline. I am 5 feet tall and 120 pounds. I could not move an inch, could not bend down to the plug without having the person next to me get out of their seat, and even then I hit my head on the back of the seat in front of me, because the seats are permanently tilted back about 30 degrees and don't move. Chronic back ache. There is no armrest between people in the two seats. There are exactly four seats that have any room at all (the front four) and two of them were taken up with water bottles. Put the water bottles on the seat behind, which is cramped, and let just two more people have some room! The stop in PA was completely unnecessary and annoying. The driver had to announce it and instructions for ordering Subway and not missing the bus literally 75 times! There was no wifi in this bus yet, yet it was full price. The power outlets did not work and the driver had to stop to try to make them work; still they didn't work for me or most people. Still full price. No tray behind seat for laptop; no place for your phone or the water bottle. The footrest is made of cheap plastic -- did not even support my tiny feet -- not sure what their purpose was. Price for all this? An incredible $110. The driver was a good driver and very nice. UPDATE: OurBus offered me a $10 certificate towards my next trip because they said they "could not see any way to compensate me for my trip"! (Hello, refund?) They also shared the reason that there is no consistency between trips and why some buses are so awful: "We want to bring to your notice that we do not own any buses and only partner with different bus companies." read more

NYC to Rockville bus made an unannounced (and unadvertised) stop in Columbia MD. If you choose to ride - don't get off, they will leave you there and no one cares. Calls to the company are routed to India (that's where Joy said he was located). Refused any refund and he said there is no manager, registered agent or other contact person in Maryland. Particularly at 8:00pm. Unresponsive and unsatisfactory. There should be some accountability and something more than a fill in the blank form letter response to any complaint. read more

I have used this company twice now to go from white plains to boston and back and have had terrible experiences both times. They will tell you the wrong pickup location and hide the correct one where you cant find it, have no person to person customer support, a "bus tracking" link that gives you only the route, and a reschedule link that is broken. Despite all this, today I made it to the bus stop just on time and no bus showed up. I cannot believe that any of these 5 star reviews are written by real humans based on my experience. TIP: If you are trying to decide which bus to take between NYC and DC, I would not go with OurBus. There are so many bus companies out there that have cheaper tickets and more reliable service. I make a round trip between DC and NYC once a month and have taken trips with at least six different bus companies (I like to see what's the best out there). Let me just say that I have never experienced such a terrible start to a bus ride. The bus driver took ~20 minutes to attempt to pull up? fix? some seats in the back. Once everyone was seated, I thought we were ready to go ... NOPE the bus wouldn't start. It was another ~40 minutes until we all ended up getting off and reboarding a different bus. The bus was supposed to leave at 12:00 PM... we left at 1:08PM. Additionally, while the bus driver was in the back of the bus trying to fix those seats, it seemed like multiple people boarded without getting their ticket checked (???) and when the bus driver was trying to get the bus to start, at least five people got off and bought tickets for another bus company. Please make sure your buses are in working order before having people board them. 2 stars only because of the Union City stop and the bus driver apologizing. read more

I took the 8am-12pm bus from NYC to Ithaca with about ten other Cornell students. We were supposed to be dropped off at the Robert Purcell Community Center for coronavirus testing (as shown in our OurBus ticket and as stated by Cornell). The bus driver made us get off at a Starbucks 2 miles away. We told him respectfully that our stop was RPCC as shown in the ticket. He told us he would not drive onto campus, took all of our luggage off the bus, and made us get off. We all had to order a Lyft to RPCC because it would have been a hilly walk with 100+ lbs of luggage each. Almost everyone got a Lyft or were picked up by friends. Because Ithaca is a small city, two of us could not get a Lyft for over an hour. We eventually took a public bus, which dropped us off about a quarter mile away from RPCC, so we still to walk up an incline with a ton of luggage. This could have all been avoided if the bus driver dropped us off at the right place. read more

I waited (in the rain) from 6:30-7:20 for the bus, which never showed. Customer service contact was not functional. Later, while waiting 3 hours for an Amtrak replacement I had a 'chat' conversation with customer service. The representative basically called me a liar, a supervisor offered credit for "next time" but would not refund. This after showing my amtrak ticket, and a time stamped photo from the bus stop. I also withdrew money from the atm at that location, establishing my presence there and offered that as well... all on deaf ears. What a waste of time and effort, and a what poor decision to refuse to refund. Now, on principal I will escalate until I have my measily $25 back. please spare yourself. read more

She provided me with the fee and bus schedule all in less then five minutes. I never even knew their was a bus service leaving 5th street Highway in Reading, PA to NYC. Bus was on time and the driver was curt yet courteous. Seats were not so comfortable for a 5 hour journey (maybe for a 2 hour trip). Was easy to book on line. However, in Syracuse, there was no clear indicating sign as to where the bus will pick-up passengers, nor is this clearly indicated on-line. Overall, was a good experience and would definitely recommend to others who ask. read more

another gripe - they advertise "free rescheduling & cancellations" - BUT! this is only valid at least 24 hours before the scheduled departure. okay, fair. but maybe make that condition a little clearer online. so I wasn't able to cancel, but contacting support, they issued me a credit for the missed ticket. so I used the ticket to book another bus for thanksgiving, but hey - plans change! so i go with the intention of rescheduling (actually, you can only cancel), I assumed that i would be reissued the $26 credit since - it's still the valid date range, and it's money that I already spent but haven't used towards a trip. didn't realize that I would only be refunded the additional cost that I'd paid on my card, and not the credit. it really makes no sense. support was no help after that either, saying "sorry, it's our policy." A CONFUSING POLICY THAT MAKES NO BUSINESS SENSE what difference would it make to you if i reschedule my trip and use that same credit for a few days later? ourbus really doesn't care about customer satisfaction, I am highly disappointed and will take my business elsewhere in the future. also in response to ourbus' response to my review below: I understand traffic is out of your control. But my point was, you shouldn't be messaging me 5 minutes before the scheduled departure time that the bus is going to be 40+ minutes late. you had plenty of time to figure that out and let me know of a delay. read more

The little amenities make a difference to me as well - free bottles of water, polite drivers, accurate bus tracker, and so on. Horrible experience as we are two Spaniards trying to get from Harrisburg Pennsylvania to NYC. No signals to know where the bus is departing from, the address on the website was a parking lot. No customer service answer to the phone which we called several times. Bus delayed and unrealistic solution offered (coupon for a future trip). read more

Customer service is no help, I called informing them that I was stuck on the train on my way there and the rep was no help on locating the status of the bus he just kept referring me to the tracker. Then when I asked about the likely hood of me getting on another bus he said that wouldn't be possible because they don't do that and I would only get back 50% of what I payed because I didn't cancel ahead of time. As if it was my fault or purposely done that I missed my bus. I will be reporting the charge to my bank. read more

My initially bus ride up to NYC was good, we left a bit late but it was a good ride despite the bus driver being rude. On Sunday, October 21, 2018 I took the 4:15pm bus from NYC (Madison Ave between 26th and 27th) back to DC. About 40 minutes into the ride, the passenger next to me (a male) threw-up all over the seat, himself and me. The whole back of the bus (and I am sure the bus in general) smelled disgusting. His friend, who was sitting in another seat swapped with me and helped him clean up. She informed the bus driver and I assumed he would pull over or stop at a rest stop but he never did. The only stop made was in New Jersey (scheduled) and to switch the drivers. I had to sit with vomit on my cloths (I tried to clean it) and the seats and back of the bus smelled the whole ride. It was disgusting and unsanitary. That is a health hazard having bodily fluids out like that and just plain disguising. Why the bus driver didn't stop to at least clean the bus, and at best, call for another clean bus, is beyond me. Worse, I have tried to contact OurBus via twitter and e-mail and they have been relatively unresponsive. read more

I used OurBus for the first time to travel roundtrip between DC and NJ. I encountered: friendly drivers, relatively on time arrivals (we were only about 15 minutes late which is way better than other bus services I've taken), firm but not uncomfortable seating with seat adjustments, clean bathrooms, a charging outlet for every two-seater, a clean and peaceful environment, and complimentary waters, which was a nice touch. The tickets were a littler pricier than what I'm used to, but all of the above helped contribute to making it feel worth it. At one point, I decided to change my bus ticket to a later time on the morning of the departure. Customer service was very easy to talk with and made the change so easy I was shocked. I like that you can track the bus's exact location, it helped a lot with timing. I did notice that it displays an inaccurate arrival time, though, rather it displays the time the bus is *supposed* to get to the location. read more

I took OurBus to get home for Thanksgiving. Frank was the bus driver for this ride. He was an amazing driver. He made sure that all the passengers were comfortable and had a smooth ride. Frank was very friendly and kind. I accidentally left my wallet on the bus and he went out of his way to make sure that it was returned to me. He saved my Thanksgiving!! I will undoubtedly use OurBus again, it was already a great experience, however, Frank made this a definite 10 out of 10 experience. I have had several family members and friends take ourbus to come visit us from New York City to Maryland. We have used other bus services in the past but found it too cumbersome to do the pick up in Baltimore. The Columbia Maryland drop off is so convenient, I could not have asked for a better route and ease in pick up/drop-off. Today I find myself taking the bus and taking family members to New York City for the weekend. I am not apprehensive at all nor worried that service and quality of the trip will be inferior because I have heard many great reviews about this company specifically for this route MD-NYC. I came across a small challenge that required having to call customer service. The representative, Kathleen, was VERY CALM about my situation and had stayed with me on the phone and gave me instructions (again, CALMLY) on what to do which was resolved immediately, and within 15 minutes. I have read the other reviews and they are concerning. The only thing that I can write about is my experience, which has been excellent to date. I take the bus from Malvern, PA to NYC. The bus has always picked us up on time. We have had lovely drivers. The bathroom has been immaculate. The water has been plentiful and delicious. I have taken this bus several times and I feel very lucky that it serves this route. I feel very badly that other people have had bad experiences. I have also had bad experiences on the Amtrak train that runs from Paoli to NYC, and those tickets are very expensive. My Ourbus ticket was $20 vs. $62 on Amtrak. read more

Have better driver and stop wasting peoples time on your bus. despite some of the negative reviews, i have had nothing but positive experiences w/ OurBus commuting to and from Washington, DC and New York. for starters; using the well designed website (or app) is very easy to order your tickets. it is nearly as simple as 1-2-3. you get an e-mail confirmation to w/ your info to show the driver and what not. also, finding the bus in the Washington Union Station bus lot is really easy as well and (sometimes) there would be a cooler of water just for the ride haha. the interior of the bus was really nice and clean. the seats were strangely comfortable for such a cheap bus. i don't know how the bathrooms were, i don't use bus bathrooms. every seat had two standard outlets & two USB-A ports. the Wi-Fi was on the bus was kinda shit it was really slow & worked only some of the time, but that's your typical Wi-Fi for public transportation. the ride was pleasant. however, the bus driver did make a strange choice of route to get from NYC. we didn't go all the way up I-95, i think we took Route 50 or whatever; am not sure. all i know was that we were stuck in a lot of traffic and that ate up a lot of time. but once the driver made the decision to get on I-95, the trip was better. no speeding, no erratic driving. once we got up to New York, we debarked at Port Authority Bus Terminal and that was the end of my pleasant trip. overall, this was a very pleasant ride and i would definitely be using this service again. the tickets were very cheap, bus very comfy, and we got there (mostly) on time. this was a rather welcome change after riding the Chinatown buses for a while. read more
