I frequently travel from New York to Ithaca. The options have been spotty and expensive over the years. OurBus is the cheapest one yet, and I was delighted to find that they used an existing bus/limo company from the Finger Lakes. Service was fast, courteous, and comfortable. Where do I begin with this one.. bus driver shows up an hour late. About an hr into the trip they get a flat tire.. 2 hrs later it was fixed and 30 minutes into the ride again another tire completely comes off in the middle of the highway. The 4 hrs trip from DC to NY became a 16hrs journey. And to make things worse, I woke up to a promotional email from OurBus instead of an explanation and/or apology. Please don't book this bus.. Today I almost had a heart attack after I was late for my bus to NY for 1 minute. I saw it is leaving. I was waving with my hands but the bus didn't stop. I was mad on driver who didn't wait at least a couple minutes delayed passengers with tickets , I was also mad on myself and I was sad that I have to spend more money and time to get my goal accomplished. I tried to catch that bus on Uber but heavy traffic on Rockville Pike wasn't on my side. It was White Flint, 1 pm bus. But after that two good things happened: Fortunately, I was able to buy tickets from Union Station on 2.30 pm Ourbus and a lady from OurBus Customer Service with a wonderful name Ekta was sympathized to my situation and credited all my tickets price to my OurBus wallet which I can use for buying my future tickets with them during next 5 years. Thanks Ekta. Lastly, I am writing this during my trip. It means I am on the bus right now. The bus is comfortable, clean ,free water, restroom, WiFi. I like it and for sure will use it again. I really wish I could give more stars. However, I've been so incredibly disappointed with their lack of protocol for their lost and found process. Something as simple as a central place to retrieve lost items is not possible? Really, in this day and age, and not even someone who can confirm if such item had been turned in? I was off the bus yesterday and still no one can give me a response to my items, 24hrs later. I've emailed them plenty and when I have received a response it has been to say "I have to wait." I have expressed the urgency to retrieve the items and still nothing. At this point, I remain hopeful that there are honest people and that the driver collected my items and they are somewhere just waiting for me to pick it up. Ourbus, I do hope to hear a positive response from you.This is really just so frustrating and such unnecessary added stress. read more

Let me start off by saying riding with these bus companies is usually a hit or a miss. This was my first time riding with OurBus from DC to NYC (round trip) after switching from Greyhound and MegaBus (who has left my friends behind after arriving mere seconds before the bus pulled off, and leaving us stranded in Maryland for 2 hours while they switched drivers). The five stars is for providing the bare minimum for a bus company (going to and from without problems, charger outlet, ride updates etc.) and some, while keeping costs low (our round trip tickets were $28, while other companies were $40 and more). My friend was late for our 11:20am Union Station departure, thanks to DC metro (). Seeing previous reviews, we were worried the refund process would be a huge hassle so we pleaded with the driver to wait 5 minutes before he was finally ready to depart. Some of you may side eye his decision, but when you miss a bus because of something that is out of your control (you can't exactly prevent long metro delays WHILE already on the train), you would understand how grateful we were to the gentleman. My friend ran through Union Station and caught the bus, while we profusely apologized to the driver for the delay. We left at 11:30am and arrived in NYC 20 minutes before schedule (not sure how the driver did it but 10s across the board for silencing any naysayers). I will travel with OurBus again until they give me a reason not to. Wish I got the drivers name, but I'm also not sure if he went against the company's policy. Either way, study your trip information and arrive early. Anything can happen when you're traveling. read more

Horrible driver, going from Norfolk to NYC. Rude, grumpy, and generally short with passengers; during the layover in DC, he made everyone wait in the freezing cold for 45 minutes because he was late to depart, then sauntered back without so much as an apology. Purchased a $49.99 OurBus Select Membership a couple of months back, and logged back in today to find the Membership price skyrocket to $149.99. I was generally happy with the cheap plans and prices Our Bus offered before (so much so that I used my membership on 10 rides in a matter of a month getting from my workplace in D.C back home), but this is $100 price increase for members is absolutely ridiculous. Found a deal for this company on Certifikid and loved the Columbia departure location, so I figured I would give it a go and I was mostly satisfied. The bus to New York was 45 minutes late and the stop in New Brunswick adds a lot of time, but the return trip was so good that it made up for that. I like the Port Authority departure because it allows for a more orderly boarding process and it beats the MegaBus mess on the West Side. The return trip left exactly on time, was organized and orderly and arrived in perfect time - that's the kind of bus travel that i like. I was talking to someone while waiting for the late bus who uses this company very frequently and she told me that the late bus was an aberration. I would use this company again. read more

THE worst bus experience I've ever had, and I choose public transportation for most of my regional trips with many different companies. This bus is absolutely filthy!! I booked another bus company for my return trip before the Our Bus even left the park and ride. The driver looked like he rolled out of bed with no proper uniform or identification of employment. Unfortunately it didn't help matters when my husband and I boarded the bus at a stop during the second leg of the trip and no one was willing to let us sit together, everyone was rude and blatantly said they weren't moving their seat. The driver began to pull away before we even found a seat to sit down in. The seats are very small even for an average sized person so I rode 2 hours with my one thigh off the seat. I need a drink. Oh, the best thing about this bus is that they offer a full refund policy up to 30 mins before your trip. I'm sure I'm not the only one that needs it. I wouldn't ride with this company again if my life depended on it. Lastly, there's no water like they advertise. read more

I missed my bus and the customer service representative Sahil really helped me out by giving me a voucher totaling the full amount that I paid for the ticket. Sahil was also nice enough to extend the voucher for 3 months instead of the 2 months. I am honestly very thankful. The reason that I did not give a full 5 stars is because the app did not accurately track the bus hence me missing it. This was my first time taking Ourbus and I couldn't be happier with the experience. I go to NYC a few times a year and the buses are typically the worst part, as they're either unclean or the drop-off/pickup points are inconveniently located. I was therefore surprised by how pleasant my experience was. The bus arrived early, the driver was friendly, and the bus itself was efficient. Never ever take this bus again!!! I booked my ticket to New York this morning from Maryland. I showed up at 6:10am right in front of the bus door. However, the bus driver didn't allow me to get on the bus and said I have to depart at 6:10am. I replied to him, " but Im already here!" He pointed at bus floor and said to me, "but you are not HERE!" Seriously???? He refuses to let me get on the bus even I already stood in front of the bus ON TIME!!! I can't believe how ridiculous it is. Very bad employee training. The employees work like robot but not human at all!! I've booked many tickets with OurBus in the past and have always had great service. I usually book on Wanderu and Ourbus usually has the best prices. I missed my bus for a trip and was told I would be given $30 towards my next trip. However, I couldn't find the coupon code in my email so I spoke with Mehak Gulati who assisted me and provided me with the $30 credit. Booking and reservations are easy, my only suggestion would be more bus times but I understand that they are still a growing company. read more

I rode an OurBus to NYC from Columbia, MD and back. Both buses were clean, and the drivers were nice. We arrived about 30 minutes late both times, but that is to be expected with traffic. There was free wifi, air conditioning, and electrical outlets. I enjoyed both rides with OurBus and will be taking it on future trips to NYC! read more

OurBus turned out to be super great! I experienced no issues getting on and off the bus and the staff was very nice and welcoming. I went to DC on Pride Weekend and they handed out pride flags and cupcakes to celebrate. Overall good experience. OurBus rescheduling policy is to ask a customer to buy another ticket and then ask for a refund on original ticket. This is RIDICULOUS. Especially since they have a strict NO REFUND policy. Sounds like a trap to me. Will NOT be booking again with this company and will write negative reviews where ever I can. People have a right to know when a company is not truthful about the rescheduling policy. And even IF they do process the refund, it will take 3-5 business days to process. UNACCEPTABLE. read more

I prefer taking ourbus because it's usually the cheapest option and they are always on time. I'm specifically writing this review for the customer service I have received. Ourbus is always available by chat which is very helpful to receive real time help. Today I was helped by a very kind representative Mehak Gulati. I needed to change my ticket but I would lose the credit I bought it with, she made a one time exception for me so I was able to get the credit back and book a new trip. Overall, very pleased. This service is usually never available with other bus companies such as greyhound and peterpan, they will not refund you whatsoever. read more

Never. Again. I booked a NYC-Boston round trip, as the times worked for my schedule and the price was lower than competitors. On the trip there, about 45 minutes into the drive, the driver stops on the side of the highway and announces that two passengers missed the stop at White Plains and the company was paying for an uber to drive these passengers to meet up with us. We waited for 50 minutes until they finally arrived. Instead of reimbursing passengers, we were sent a $25 voucher for a future trip. Definitely not using that, as I'm now en route from Boston back to New York. The driver was swerving, seemed to be unsure of where he was going (got off and on an exit somewhere in CT), and was very fond of the brake pedal. After the White Plains stop, a passenger gets up to announce that these driving conditions are because the bus company doesn't allow drivers to take breaks and are treated like machines. Seems curious how a company so set on deadlines would keep a bus of 30 people waiting an hour for two passengers who missed the stop. We were encouraged to reach out on social media to complain. So here I am, trying to hold down lunch as I type this on what has been collectively one of the worst transportation experiences I have ever had. Spend the extra $10, trust me. I took this bus from DC to Union City, NJ. I love that they have Union City as a drop off location. It is very convenient for those who live near the Lincoln tunnel. The bus I rode on was new and clean. The driver drove safely the entire trip and was polite. I will definitely take this bus again and will recommend to others! read more

We were told someone is on the way to drive in his place and its been two hours of waiting. They might be cheap but they will waste your time. So OurBus is my bus company of choice but after last weekend that may change. The ride down was perfect and it went to Port Authority in NY, which makes sense. Coming back they changed the pick up location to 27th, 26th and Madison, random street. So after rushing to get to the bus location, ON TIME, there were cops and barricades everywhere as there was a parade at that location. We ask the police officers if they knew where a bus going to DC was located and they said they didn't know but if we find out to let them know since other people had come asking the same. So I'm calling OurBus and on hold and i just think to check my email. I found an email sent 20 mins before saying they changed the location. We get to the other location, one block over, about 8 mins after 12:30, the scheduled bus time, trying to figure everything. You would think that since they changed the location there would be a small grace period or something, especially since they're the ones that chose a poor location without checking for local events in the first place. When I called to try to figure out other arrangements they said that I had to buy completely new tickets since I missed the bus, which were $50 more expensive than my original ones and they would reimburse my originals, even though I only missed the bus because they changed the location at the last minute. I had purchased 2 tickets so I'm out $50 for a bus I shouldn't have missed had it been a the spot that was originally on the ticket. Depending on where you're coming from in NY and how well you know the area, your so busy trying to figure out where the bus is located that you're not thinking about checking to see if they changed the location to make you late. The least they could of done was have someone out there to direct people instead of us just asking people where a bus could be. I do understand that people have to be places and timeliness and such but it was such a mess and headache they could of waited 10 mins because of the change in location. I got on a 2:00 pm bus that was 20 mins late. -_____- I doubt if I'll ever use this company again and I have brought about 6 extra people to this company other than myself. read more

Worst experience ever! I would not recommend this company. I reached out to customer service the day of my trip to inform them an accident had occurred on the highway and my GPS was saying I wouldn't get there until the exact moment the bus was to leave. The company has no way of communicating with the bus. Unbeknownst to me, I received an email stating the bus was also running late. During my 40min conversation with them they didn't mention that to me once! All she said was I can give you a credit. THE. WORST. These people are rude! When I went to the second bus in line trying to see which was mine (because they are unclearly marked and do pick up/drop offs in random places because theyre not even a legitimate or recognized bus service) the woman driver laughed at me that I was on the wrong one. How am I supposed to know when you people don't even mark your buses or have signs explaining?? Then I went to the other bus and the driver shut the door in my face and pulled away when I was obviously going to get on that bus. Because they use an app for tickets if you miss your bus it expires and you have now not only missed your bus but also wasted your money on it. By no means are the buses at port authority much better when commuting to and from NYC but at least the trips are shorter and the buses are more frequent. Never again with this bus company I don't need to be ridiculed and miss my bus and need to wait an hour just to get the next bus home. read more

My wife and I frequent the bus route from DC to NYC, and have never had any issues. The bus is always on time, and the ride is smooth with outlets to charge phones/laptops, and wifi. I travel frequently on OurBus. My experience has been largely positive, except on a couple of occasions. The bus was not in perfect condition and we were delayed by many hours. However, they have pretty good customer service and had refunded the amount and given a coupon. I had also interacted with a customer rep, Mehak Gulati, for a wrong booking and got the ticket cancelled. They have been helpful and friendly. Overall, a pretty good experience. read more

Never having ridden a non-Greyhound small bus line, I was a bit reluctant, but having ridden a Greyhound, I was like, wtf, what do I have to lose (I only had carry-ons). OurBus exceeded my expectations by a bus-length. Easy all around; cheap; on-time (well, except for leaving 2 mins late b/c the nice bus driver waited for some schmuck); nice and safe bus driver; clean bathrooms; working WiFi and outlets. Disclosure: my only experience with OB is 1 round trip WAS-NYC. I'm not giving it 5 stars only because one-way the seats were very thin. The return was cush, though. read more

Worse bus company ever, this bus ride fron NYC to DC which normally takes maybe 4.5-5 hrs including stops and factoring in traffic conditons has now turn into a 7hr affair. It is not worth it at all. I was supposed to arrive at 2:15pm for my 2:30pm bus from DC to NY. Missed one train, and the other train (Red line) was running extra slow. Arrived at Union Station at 2:29pm. I frantically called the OurBus customer service and explain to representative that I am running 5 minutes late, I will be at the bus stop in 5 minutes. That representative, he is a liar and a bastard, tells me that the bus already left 3 minutes ago. I keep running through Union Station up to the bus depot area, asking him to hold the bus, have them turn back, I will meet them outside, anything. He keeps saying no, keeps repeating the same lies. How do I know this? I arrive at the bus area and low and behold the bus is still there! The driver, Andrew, noticed he was short a few passengers and waited for us on his own good will. Me and another passenger who I realized was racing up behind me from that same Red line both arrive at the bus at 2:35pm. The driver checks our tickets and lets us board. We leave the station 2 minutes later at 2:37pm. The drive itself was good, the driver was the best part obviously, he would make announcements from time to time about where we were and when we were running behind due to traffic. The bus itself was in decent condition, I would say comparable to a Peter Pan bus but a little newer, all the electrical plugs worked and there was a good amount of leg room and it was fairly clean. The movie playing on the screens was Fantastic Four from 2005, but with the volume turned down so low you cannot hear the dialogue and no subtitles which pretty much ruined the point of having the movie showing (unlike an airplane there were no jacks to plug into and listen to the movie if you wanted to). The wifi as usual for any of these coach buses was overwhelmed by all the users and barely worked. The main negatives were that the AC was too strong after the sun started to set and the scheduled stop in Hamilton which added to the overall travel time. Apparently OurBus does not consider it a rest stop, even though we were parked next to several food take-out stores like Panera and Chick Fil A. If we really have to make this stop in the middle of NJ, we might as well make it a rest stop for 15-20 min and get something to eat. As a result we arrived at Port Authority around 7:45pm. If I was just rating the driver, this would be 5 stars. But after that insane representative repeatedly lied to me that the bus had already left, I am very uneasy to take OurBus again, it would be my last choice. read more

This is my first time traveling with you all, a friend of mine referred you guys. I have to say I???m very disappointed with your company. My husband and I scheduled to take your bus to NY for my birthday weekend. When we arrived at the pick up location I saw a sign that advertised your app, so I down loaded it only to find out that our scheduled departure time of 7am had changed to 8:55am. I used your chat to see if there was some kind of error and representative confirmed there time change. They said that the driver had an emergency and the time had changed. I was also told that you all sent me an email yesterday, however that information is not true. I even received an alert to my phone this morning at 5am notifying me that my trip was just 2 hours away. What a way to start my birthday weekend get away! Now I???m 2 almost 2 and a half hours behind schedule. I had several things planned upon my arrival to NY and this has caused me to lose out on money. read more

After an hour of traffic delays we were told our driver needed to switch out with another driver before he went over his allotted driving hours. It took 15 minutes from there to get back on the road. Then the new driver got completely lost and the customers on the bus needed to direct him because he couldn't use his GPS. He didn't even know where the bus was supposed to be stopping and had to ask the customers where he was supposed to go. He then dropped us off at a random location on the side of the road because he couldn't find the actual bus stop. Never again.. read more

This was an absolutely terrific bus ride to NYC. I booked online for $9.99 each way (with no booking fees) and both rides were superb. The bus trip from DC to NYC lasted four hours on the dot and was smooth. They give you free water and the bus was clean and had great wifi. The trip up was on a Martz bus. The trip back was on a spanking new Ourbus vehicle and was also great although there was traffic and the trip took 4 hours and 20 minutes. The driver offered cold water and was extremely polite and helpful. This is the best bus I've taken from DC to NYC. read more

Our Bus is a great value and convenience for people like me who want to travel between Central NJ and Washington, DC. It was recommended to me about a year ago and I've taken it twice one way from DC to New Brunswick each time. The first time was the summer of 2018. The bus left about 40 minutes late and there was a bit of traffic, but the ride was uneventful. I thought the method for checking passengers in was clunky - no bar codes on the tickets - the attendant must look up each name on a long list. This made us even later. Yesterday, the ride back from DC could be called the "ride from hell." The weather was awful, not their fault, of course, but we had to wait for the bus from NY that apparently was about 3 hours late due to weather and traffic. The weather is not their fault, but how they deal with it is their responsibility. The bus left about 1 hour late and many of us had been waiting in line at the gate for close to 1.5 hours. The driver told us how experienced he was (over 30 years), but it was clear as we got on our way that he seemed to be having problems with the bus. He stopped two times on the side of the road "to check something," and once at the rest stop to plug his phone into the charger so he could communicate with the supervisor. The roof hatch was leaking the whole way, and several people around me were getting wet. Thankfully, the driver did not speed - he went under 50 mph most of the time due to the rain, but seemed to accelerate and decelerate more than normal. There was virtually no traffic so it seemed like a mechanical issue. I doubt I'm the only person who thought the bus would break down. When we got to New Brunswick, the driver did not know where to drop us off. He got on the PA system to ask the passengers if we knew! Luckily, I know the city very well and also had taken the bus once before, so I was able to direct him, but that was just nuts! To Our Bus' credit, they sent me a $35 credit because of the leaky roof. I get the impression that Our Bus does not own its fleet, (or have its own drivers) hence, the poorly maintained and insufficient buses. It's nice that they have a nice app, website and prices, but you have to provide quality service to really be successful. Running the bus company is a lot different than developing a good marketing campaign. Our Bus has a lot going for it, but falls short in the quality of service it provides. read more

We had a horrible experience with ourbus on a holiday weekend, which probably makes us more angry than if it weren't. Our reservation was suspended due to an accident. When we called, they advised we should cancel our reservation, and book a new one at a significantly later time. We did, and then the old bus was resumed. We called back to complain and ask to get on the original bus but they raised the 20$ ticket we had paid to 50$.... it's like they made up this scheme to get more money. We ended up digging our feet in quite a bit and only had to pay 30 dollars to get back on our original bus. The bus ride itself was fine, our driver was quick and we only lost about ten minutes off our original time. The bus was clean, the seat space was small (expected). The worst problem arises when we head home and the ticket is cancelled for no reason. We were on the phone for 35 minutes, finally got on the bus, but still had to pay 2.75 tax when we never cancelled it in the first place. They weren't able to offer an explanation to why our trip home was cancelled. Very annoying. Won't be taking again. Ever. read more
