My sister and I came for a tour on Saturday and I am sooooo glad we did. We arrived about 10 minutes prior to the tour starting and we were quickly greeted by the owner (Tyler) as he brought us the drink menu. It was pretty busy so we stood to the side. When ready, I ordered a ooh la la lemonade and we served ourselves some cold water. The bartender was friendly as she took my order and made my drink pretty quick. The tour started a few minutes later and lasted a little over an hour. The time went by fast as Tyler kept it fun, informative, and engaging. I learned a lot and walked away with some good brewery knowledge. We tasted several spirits and two were my favorite. There was a vanilla flavored one and a cinnamon one... cant remember the names, oops. We ended up buying the vanilla flavored one and I cant wait to use it! Major update :) The distillery and bar that you may already know and love as "Adventurous Stills", has undergone a transformation and is now known as "Outlaw Distillery". Outlaw Distillery originated in Utah with Owner, Tyler Halstead and his beautiful wife Alexis. Over the past year there was a change in ownership and Tyler acquired what was at the time, Adventurous Stills in Tempe. This place has been a long beloved distillery to locals and visitors alike, making exceptionally good spirits and having a very welcoming atmosphere along with great staff, and a super fun whiskey club. A warm welcome to Outlaw Distillery and I wish nothing but success, as the two entities merge into one. If you've been to Adventurous Stills before, you will be happy to see that the whiskeys and other spirits that are distilled on site from grain to glass in small batch format will continue to be exceptional products, and they have some new things coming out but it's no longer branded Adventurous Stillls. I've been to Adventurous Stills in Tempe before but had not done the tasting tour yet. We were there with a group of friends and scored the last tasting of the day. Our tour guide was very knowledgeable and entertaining. I must admit I didn't get his name since I was at the back of the group. We sampled quite a large variety of spirits (vodka, whiskey, agaves, etc.) some of which were smoky and or cask strength which made for a special tasting experience. They have a nice little setup for such a small distillery but they sure do pack a punch with pretty much everything they offer. Everyone seemed to have a favorite with some that overlapped while others had specific tastes that piqued their interest. They do have a happy hour and they seemed quite popular with the Tempe area locals the night we were there. I am not aware if there was any food being offered (snack or otherwise) but there were enough people there that I didn't get to linger in any particular spot for too long to get a chance to look more closely. Everyone was very friendly and welcoming and extra helpful too! They helped us take a group picture by the casks and smoothly took care of all of our orders with such ease! We currently have a small collection of spirits from Adventurous Stills to which I'm sure we'll be adding to now that more people in our circle are aware of their wares. But once you step inside, you will find an extremely laid back but fun place to relax and have a good drink. Adventurous Stills is an award-winning small-batch local craft distillery that is located in Tempe that started in 2015. Their spirits are produced from grain right inside this building. They offer tours on the weekends and have a fun membership club that includes exclusive benefits just for members. Hand-crafted cocktails can be ordered in the tasting room with happy hour on Fridays from 4pm-6pm. I learned about Adventurous Stills from a fellow Yelp Elite (Christina) who also works here. I left with a bottle of their Barrel Proof Bourbon which is superb. The lady who served us was knowledgeable and very friendly. Very small distillery off the beaten path with everything made on-site with ingredients (other than the agave) from Arizona. We took a distillery tour and got to taste several different kinds of their liquors. Our tour guide was knowledgeable and hilarious! The vibe in the tasting room is very down to earth and lowkey. We bought a bottle of whiskey at a Home Show in January and finally did the tour today. The employees are awesome and the owner is extremely knowledgeable and did an awesome tour! We learned a lot, enjoyed the tour and tasting, and bought 3 bottles, 2 tee-shirts and 2 tour tickets for our son and his girlfriend before leaving. They have an awesome product, but are off the beaten track and just need people to show up and support them do they can be successful! We drove 45 minutes for this tour and will definitely be back! Every hour is terrific at Adventurous Stills but Happy Hour is my favorite time there with some wonderful discounts on their cocktails that the bartenders craft oh-so-skillfully! Such a good time we had at this place. The staff were absolutely marvelous. I started off with an old fashion made with their own whiskey, 90 proof amazing taste. I got a tour of the facility where they distilled all their spirits. Kelly made it very interesting, he's a knowledgeable man and seem like a really nice person. I had a great time at this tour and tasting Elite Event. The tour was very informative and the complimentary samples of their own gin, rum and whiskey definitely enhanced the tour! I selected their Cosmopolitan as my main drink and really enjoyed it as well. Owner Kelly is a really cool guy and it's great this business is offering locally made spirits including vodka,gin and rum not just whiskey. Community Manager Bailey was on hand and did an outstanding job organizing and running the event. AS also offers bottles of their products, delivery and caters private events. It's easy to get to with ample parking in an industrial area which is nice because there's no annoying rowdy bar street scene in the area. When quality meets passion, you get an amazing distillery with exceptional liquors. This distillery produces vodka, rum, gin, and three different whiskeys/bourbons (possibly others, although I only tried these ones during a tasting tour). The liquors are very smooth and can all easily be enjoyed neat. The distillery is in the back and up front there is a small bar and lounge area. The most notable liquor to me was the gin. I was expecting it to not be enjoyable to drink neat (name a gin that is!) and I was surprised when I was very wrong. If this isn't an indicator that this distillery is of the highest quality, I don't know what could be. All employees were very kind. Kelly, the owner, is extremely knowledgeable about his craft and this passion is reflected in all of his finished liquors. Came here for a tour for my birthday. The Groupon was a fantastic deal, but the tour was even better. I've been to other distilleries, and they are bigger and a lot more showy. However, this was much more informative and the liquor was very tasty. I'm not a huge vodka or gin guy. I usually stick to the whiskeys. This place won me over. While visiting a friend in Mesa I was treated to a tour of Adventurous Stills. The tour was informative and the sampling was a tease. I found myself buying a four pack sample and an adult size bottle of their Agave. I was overcharged for the Agave but didn't realize it until the next day while checking my online bank account. With no receipt I was sure I wouldn't stand a chance of receiving credit back to my account. A timely response to my email addressing the situation was answered. This is a really neat little stop! When we got a groupon for a distillery tour, I wasn't sure what to expect. Adventurous Stills is located in a nondescript building, with a front tasting room and a large backroom where they make all the spirits. The tour took about 45 minutes with an opportunity to try six of their different spirits (in small communion cups, no less, haha), and you can tell that they're really passionate about their craft! I enjoyed learning about the process of distilling, and getting a chance to appreciate and sample different types of spirits side by side. Adventurous Stills seems like a group of people who like the art of distilling as a hobby and happen to make money off sharing what they enjoy with others! As we went with our tour, it was clear they embraced the natural surprises and discoveries of unexpected flavors that come from distilling and is so in line with their brand. We took home a bottle of Peralta Bourbon to enjoy later, too :) The front tasting room is cozy and light-filled, with a friendly and knowledgeable bartender and, of course, high quality spirits. It feels like a neighborhood joint, and I could easily spend a few hours here unwinding and chatting with a friend over good drinks. Everything I've had from here has been great. I'm more of a whiskey person, so take that into account, I suppose. I don't think there's a LOT of difference between vodkas, so that's a potential prejudice on my part. I drink mostly their barrel-aged offerings. Beyond the product, the people here are very friendly and excited to talk about what they do. Their Peralta Bourbon is as good as any off-the-shelf, name-brand version, and, I'd argue, better than most. They're not afraid to experiment, too: a whiskey that uses mesquite for a truly unique AZ expression? Yes! And it is very interesting. It "tastes like camping" is what a friend of mine said. Their Blue Corn whiskey at cask strength will hold its own against any mixer you throw at it, but is complex and tasty on its own, too. I'm not here all the time, but I do enjoy their locally-created, quality products. Plus, you can sample the wares in cocktails at their shop on weekends, so, in essence, try before you buy. I do wonder if they'll consider a barrel-aged gin. I've got some from a distillery in WI that used Chardonnay barrels and the results were amazing... read more

Tucked among the industrial caves in Tempe, Adventurous Stills is the best find. You'll be greeted with sunshine and cocktails from LaLa. LaLa seriously whips up a killer cocktail - my faves being the White Russian and Vodka Mojito. We pretty much ordered everything on the menu because you can't go wrong with any of the choices. Chase, who is one of the owner/partner, will personally give you the Discovery Channel tidbits while offering you samples of their vodka, gin, bourbon and whiskey. You won't be bored because the tour is quick yet thorough. If your liver managed to survive, you can try the 140 proof moonshine. Not a fan of gin, however, the smooth flavor was a surprise to the palate. I love love loved the bourbon and prices of bottles were really affordable. I can't wait til their barrels age more and what flavor profiles arrive. And if you can't get enough, they are now being carried at TotalWine. Come back and bring visitors from local and out of town, drinking buddies, and even entourage of day drinkers. Who can resist?
