I've been to Adventurous Stills in Tempe before but had not done the tasting tour yet. We were there with a group of friends and scored the last tasting of the day. Our tour guide was very knowledgeable and entertaining. I must admit I didn't get his name since I was at the back of the group. We sampled quite a large variety of spirits (vodka, whiskey, agaves, etc.) some of which were smoky and or cask strength which made for a special tasting experience. They have a nice little setup for such a small distillery but they sure do pack a punch with pretty much everything they offer. Everyone seemed to have a favorite with some that overlapped while others had specific tastes that piqued their interest. They do have a happy hour and they seemed quite popular with the Tempe area locals the night we were there. I am not aware if there was any food being offered (snack or otherwise) but there were enough people there that I didn't get to linger in any particular spot for too long to get a chance to look more closely. Everyone was very friendly and welcoming and extra helpful too! They helped us take a group picture by the casks and smoothly took care of all of our orders with such ease! We currently have a small collection of spirits from Adventurous Stills to which I'm sure we'll be adding to now that more people in our circle are aware of their wares. If you're thinking of checking them out, go ahead of stop in for a drink or sign up for a tasting! They'll help raise your spirits!

Wow. They offer a very wide variety of bourbon... whiskey... rye....gin... vodka..rum....agave.....come in and do a flight. Well worth the visit. Small place with lots of options. Adventurous distillery and Outlaw distillery are one and the same. Come in and see Borka for an adventure.

Love this place! The bartender, Borka, is always so welcoming and friendly. The drinks are delicious. They have merchandise for sale too. I love their logo and products. Definitely recommend!

This place is off the beaten path and a cool place to have a drink a sample different liquors. They make killer bourbon drinks and a delicious Sazerac. You can grab a bottle of what you like when you're done.

Visiting Adventurous Stills can be a little confusing at first because it is located in a business park. But once you step inside, you will find an extremely laid back but fun place to relax and have a good drink. Adventurous Stills is an award-winning small-batch local craft distillery that is located in Tempe that started in 2015. Their spirits are produced from grain right inside this building. They offer tours on the weekends and have a fun membership club that includes exclusive benefits just for members. Hand-crafted cocktails can be ordered in the tasting room with happy hour on Fridays from 4pm-6pm. I learned about Adventurous Stills from a fellow Yelp Elite (Christina) who also works here. It's a fun crew behind the bar that knows how to make a good drink (love my Old Fashioned). The owner Kelly is a great guy and very passionate about the process of making these spirits. The atmosphere is pretty chill here. Bring some food and hang out in the tasting room with some other cool folks who just want to drink a great local spirit. In addition to to-go bottles, Adventurous Stills also sells merchandise like shirts, flasks, and glasses.

Very small distillery off the beaten path with everything made on-site with ingredients (other than the agave) from Arizona. We took a distillery tour and got to taste several different kinds of their liquors. Our tour guide was knowledgeable and hilarious! The vibe in the tasting room is very down to earth and lowkey. The bartenders served up the drinks quickly and cracked jokes with everyone around the bar having us feel like we were all friends. The cocktails we ordered were delicious as well. Highly recommended checking this little local gem out for a chill evening.

Ooh La La Lemonade. This drink is delightful! Butterfly pea tea and lemonade? Yes please!

Established in 2015, Adventurous Stills is a small-batch distillery based in Tempe, Arizona that handcrafts premium award-winning whiskey and spirits using traditional methods and modern innovation. What an amazing local distillery! They truly have a line-up worthy of turning heads. The vodka is ridiculously smooth and the gin especially is intriguing. It doesn't have that Christmas potpourri taste with that over-powering juniper bite. They use a different blend of botanicals and it's amazing! It's also a gorgeous golden color that looks like that beautiful Arizona sunshine captured in a bottle. Yelp Elite Christina M. works here so make sure you say hello when you see this lovely lady! Stop on in for a good drink and take a tour if you can.

We bought a bottle of whiskey at a Home Show in January and finally did the tour today. The employees are awesome and the owner is extremely knowledgeable and did an awesome tour! We learned a lot, enjoyed the tour and tasting, and bought 3 bottles, 2 tee-shirts and 2 tour tickets for our son and his girlfriend before leaving. They have an awesome product, but are off the beaten track and just need people to show up and support them do they can be successful! We drove 45 minutes for this tour and will definitely be back! Thank you so much for a wonderful afternoon!

Adventurous Stills was truly a great find! Don't get me wrong, I don't take credit for finding it... rather that goes to Christina and our awesome Yelp team... but this was a great find! The location is a little off the beaten path... but once you find your way here, then you will be grateful you did! Every hour is terrific at Adventurous Stills but Happy Hour is my favorite time there with some wonderful discounts on their cocktails that the bartenders craft oh-so-skillfully! And the cocktails are where it's at here -- I dare you to find a drink that you don't like - they're all so damned good! It's really a cool environment altogether... from the front seating area with the bar as the main focus along with a few tables and other seating areas... to the back area where the magic all happens - with their distilling machines (that's my totally generic way of describing it... sorry) and barrels of delicious (or soon to be delicious) spirits! The owner offers tours every hour or so... and I would recommend you spend some of your time taking a tour. This is one of those local five star gems that we are lucky to have so close to home! *****FIVE STARS*****

Super cute little place that we happened to find by chance! They give distillery tours every Friday and Saturday for $14, no reservations needed. The bartender was great and accommodating (I can't have any sugar, so he made my cocktail with the sugar syrup on the side)! Tour is super informative and nice to learn about the process and also you get to drink!!!

What a amazing brewery!!! I bought a tasting and tour for my boyfriends birthday and he loved it!!! What a delightful place!!!! We were a walk in and this hole in the wall was just phenomenal!!! No reservations weee needed for the tasting tour or for the bar. It is a small venue so the earlier the better When we arrived shortly after we began our tour. Our tour leader was phenomenal and super friendly and knowledgeable, answering all sorts of questions. No food but the drinks are smooooth. We had a smoking whisky that had a interesting topper that they light on fire in-front of you! The Ambiance/environment is laid back, friendly and a wonderful little watering hole. Special offers like Happy Hour are abundant here. Many options deals and opportunities to see then out at different events. Not a bad word to say about this place. When you go make sure to follow a gps because it's kinda in a area you would not expect to find such a gem!!

I'd like to schedule a tour and tasting for Saturday, 11/25. There will be 3, (maybe more once I tell my relatives) What should we expect ? What are the costs?

You can find details about the Tour & Tasting (and register) on our website at adventstills.com/tours. Hope to see you soon!

Saw that Absinthe-Minded was distilled here at Adventurous Stills. Is Absinthe/Cocktails available in the tasting room/?

Yes, they have the cool absinthe glasses (which my husband will be disappointed I don't remember what they're call). They also make cocktails with absinthe. And you can buy bottles there as well!

    Do u deliver cigarettes?

    Sorry, no.

Save your money, research and anyone can do this on their own. I had to request an itinerary months after i paid in full. I had a few follow up questions because the itinerary that was emailed had conflicting instructions from the instructions posted on their website. It took an unreasonable amount of time for someone to respond to my email and I was told that the person designated was having family issues. The first day of arrival our guide text us around 7am to let us know that he wouldn't be starting with us, that he would catch up or fly in. I didn't understand why he sent out a text since we were not suppose to meet him until 10am. We were supposed to meet our guide at the tourist office for a meet and greet but also (more importantly) to give us our permits, but he never showed up. Some of us were stopped by a ranger on a horse because we didn't have the wristband permits that were supposed to be given to us by the guide. The ranger was nice but he still asked for my name and permit. I told him that I was with bgwild and our guide hadn't shown up and he said it was unacceptable that Cole hadn't given us our permits. Fast forward. It's now 11am and I'm at the campsite and I still have not met the guide. Another ranger named Erwin came over to the table where I was sitting and asked for my permit. I started asking around and no one had met our guide. This is a very long story so let me get to the point. This was a 2day/1 night traditional trip so in my opinion there was no room for error. We didn't meet our guide until 5:30pm. I prepaid to have my pack transported by helicopter sling and i didn't get it until 6:15. Which meant I had no food from 12-6:15p when my pack arrived, no swimsuit, no shoes or a change of clothes to continue the hike to Mooney and beaver falls. I would've carried my swimsuit and food had I been informed. I was under the impression that my pack would meet me there. There were no details given about what to expect in the itinerary or on their website. Even if I believe that Cole waited 5 hours for a helicopter and that the Natives were to blame for his tardiness, that means he didn't get to the trailhead until noon. He was supposed to greet us at the tourist office at 10am so he still was 2 hours late getting to the trailhead by his own admission. He arrived at the campsite around 5:30. When Cole finally arrived he didn't even apologize. A simple "I'm sorry for the delay" would've made the experience a little better but he immediately went into to defense mode. I'm sure we looked pissed when he walked up because he immediately started blaming the natives. This wasn't cool at all. Accept responsibility for your actions and stop blaming ppl for your tardiness. To date no one has apologized. I'm a member of a travel group on social media with over 376k members AND WILL SHARE MY EXPERIENCE WITH ANYONE THAT WILL LISTEN. I WILL NEVER USE THIS COMPANY AGAIN!!!!

Finally after passing it so many times I was curious enough to look it up. I googled "cake shaped building PHX" and it was the first result. "Tovrea (said tov-ree) Castle aka A jewel in the Sonoran desert" Since 2010 the City of Phoenix purchased, renovated, and opened it for tours. The very abbreviated story with this place is that some homesteaders from the early 1900s owned the land, sold 277 acres to a wealthy Italian man. Alessio Carraro had built a fortune in the sheet metal business in the 1920s from San Fran. He planned to build a hotel resort surrounded by a housing subdivision on 277 acres, Carraro Heights. The castle was built near the timing of when the Great Depression set in. Carraro wanted out, he sold the castle and some amount of acreage (for a fraction of his investment) to Della Tovrea, wife of cattle baron E.A. Tovrea. She lived there until her tragic death in 1969. Nearby is the Stockyard Restaurant, built by E.A.'s son so cattlemen had somewhere to eat near the stockyards. That restaurant still exists today. I plan to check it out. If you want more details and full story, go take the tour :) however tickets are not easy to come by. Tours sell out many months in advance and they started using a lottery system. I bought my tickets months ago. However worth a try to go. I wouldn't say its the most amazing thing I've ever seen and the use of the word "castle" is a stretch. I've been inside some real castles in US and Europe, however it's interesting and a fun thing to do and it satisfied my curiosity! :) Per their website- The Ticket Lottery for Fall 2022 Tickets has ended and all tickets have been distributed - look for last minute cancellation tickets. The amount of walking wasn't too much for my mom (recovering from knee surgery), and I cannot appreciate enough that the company didn't cancel the tour despite it just being the two of us on the tour with Lindsey.
