Cool atmosphere (smells like hickory inside), clean and well-taken care of, friendly service, and respectable BBQ. The brisket was a bit overcooked (more like pot roast), but had a nice hickory flavor and everything else was solid... Their BBQ sauces were outstanding. Been a bit since our last visit, our return did not disappoint. Baked potato with pulled pork is big enough for two meals, I like to use the sweet barbecue sauce and add some of their amazingly fresh pico de gallo. Arrived with no one else in front of us. Stood there well over 5 minutes before being asked what we wanted. Husband ordered his. Upon my order, she walked away without saying a word, went downstairs, finally came back several minutes later and set a pan of pulled pork in the steamer. Then asked for mac & cheese and the same scenario. Never spoke, never said be right back, nothing. Paid, went to get drin and 3 of the 6 selections were out and the ice machline was out of service. Took us longer to get our food than it did to eat it. Just some smiling and communication would have made a big difference. Won't go back. Not worth it. read more

Small local barbecue place. I got the one meat plate which comes with two sides and a drink. Got the brisket, beans and mac & cheese. The meat had great flavor. The portions were generous. The beans even had a smoky flavor to them. They had several different sauces. I tried the spicy, which is really good. Had a little bit of a vinegar base to it. The interior was picnic tables. You could sit outside if it was warm enough out on a covered patio. Staff was very friendly and helpful with our choice. They had a special pulled pork, one side and a drink for nine dollars, which was very reasonable. If you're looking for a barbecue in that area it's definitely worth a try. Best BBQ I've ever had, excellent service & worth the drive to Napoleon, OH!!! The pulled pork nachos are amazing & portioned so big it's at least 2 meals. They are the favorite of all three of my kids also. My other pop meal options are the burnt ends. The name does not do the taste of justice! I am OBSESSED with Outlaw as a food truck. I first had it at our county fair and couldn't get enough of their pulled pork tacos. I was so pleased to see that they were getting a little restaurant in Napoleon!! This rendition of Outlaw isn't a typical sit down restaurant. It's situated more like a fast food/subway style restaurant. You wait in line like you would a Subway and you tell them what you want while they prepare it in front of you (for MOST of their items). Pulled pork, brisket, (I heard they have chicken wings now?!!), meatloaf, tacos, and even a brisket pizza that they recommend you order ahead as they smoke it fresh for you on their smoker. Their menu is actually pretty hearty. I'm sure I'm leaving something out. Word is that they don't have anything but a smoker to prepare their foods in which is a great way to do business if you ask me. Reiterates the level of freshness you can expect day in and day out. Their bbq sauces are amazing and I love the spicy bbq! The inside is small and every time I've been there it's been filled. Some rustic decor that compliments it very well and gives us all that bbq southern-ish vibe we all hope for. I'm just so happy with this little bbq truck/restaurant. Excellent lunch experience! Enjoyed lunch on a Wednesday afternoon (just to help clarify whether the restaurant is open on Wednesdays). I ordered the pork sandwich with a side of coleslaw. My wife ordered the Brisket nachos. Friends ordered a brisket potatoes . The pork sandwich came with a side of kettle chips. Everything was excellent... the portion sizes, quality, and prices. Sadly, not a fan. After hearing such great things about this place from some family members, I thought that it'd be a great place to take my dad for his birthday. Unfortunately, were all disappointed. First, this isn't your typical "Smokehouse" or "restaurant". The space is extremely small and limited and there are only a handful of tables. We were surprised when we walked in because we were picturing a totally different environment. To best describe this atmosphere would be comparing it to a take-out joint. When you walk in, you'll see the menu overhanging the servers with the food to the left of you and a few sitting tables directly in front of you. That's it. The menu seems to be pretty limited as well. I wish I would have taken pics of the menu and food items. I went with the pulled pork and slaw sandwich. The pork was little gritty pieces of cold pulled pork and my bun seemed to have been refrigerated since that was cold as well. Very disappointing. I ordered a small side of Mac and Cheese to share with my four year old daughter. Although I wasn't a fan of the spiraled noodles, the dish was cheesy and had good flavor. My dad ordered the brisket potato and my mom ordered the brisket nachos. Both said that their meals were mediocre. Not bad, but not that great. Apparently, the brisket was warm unlike the pulled pork. I really wished that we would have enjoyed our food because the portions were HUGE and would have made for great leftovers to enjoy at home. Both Yelp and Google Maps said this restaurant was open on Sunday. Loaded up two mobility-impaired 90+ year old relatives for the twenty mile trip to this restaurant. We were really excited about visiting this place, which has generated some positive buzz on social media. Nice location on the bank of the Maine River. But gosh darn, the place was closed. Great selection of smoked meats at a very fair price. My son had the brisket with cheddar sandwich and it was huge! I had 2 large pieces of moist brisket and it was also really good. Several sauces available on the tables, spicy, peach and a mustard all were good. If you are not familiar with the area (we weren't) your map app may get confused (mine did) but the street is just behind a large building and the restaurant has it's back to the river. read more

LOVED IT! We made our way to the restaurant today for lunch after wanting to try it for awhile, as we heard excellent reviews from friends. We got the special of the day (brisket slider, pork slider, side and a drink for $7.49) with a side of coleslaw and a side of the smoked mac & cheese. Both sides were very good! However, the brisket and the pork were amazing, especially with the sweet sauce (we didn't try the spicy sauce). YUM! We will definitely be going back and will follow their food truck as well. This is perfect picnic food too! I wouldn't hesitate to pack it all up and find a cozy spot along the river on a warm summer night. Everyone else on here seems to love it. Maybe it's just not my cup of tea. I was so excited when they were opening! Finally a good meat joint in town!! Ive been once and won't be back. The pulled pork I got seemed very dry and the sauces are way too runny for my taste. I love a good BBQ mess as much as the next BBQ lover, but it was like water with flavor. Beans were good. Nothing special about this place though. I was very surprised. I love meat. It really bummed me out. I just asked my husband what he would give it. The variety of food is pretty small, but it's mighty tight! About 6 or 7 meat options and a few side options. What they're doing is done REALLY REALLY well! As an example, they use only hardwood to smoke their food, no artificially brickets or gasI feel comfortable recommending them to anyone. I had food from the food truck today- super unimpressed. The bbq sauce is thin and runny. The ribs tasted steamed or maybe baked?! There is NO char on them and no Smokey flavor. The brisket is the sole reason for all three stars. The brisket itself was good- but I got it on a "taco". Maybe I'm spoiled by authentic Mexican tacos- but when I order a taco I kind of expect cilantro, lime, and onions on choice of a corn or flour tortilla (yum corn). These were flour and straight out of a bag- not heated not browned- nothing. And seriously yellow shredded cheese? Ummmm cojita or queso blanco. It was pretty underwhelming and something you'd get in your moms kitchen. Like I said the taco itself not good- the brisket in the taco was great (even though it was shredded and not sliced). The Mac n cheese was bland, zero flavor zero seasoning and fairly congealed. The cole slaw was great. I think maybe they were just having an off day? And I'm sure the restaurant is much better.
