Great food, nice atmosphere and friendly service. Arrived at 5:45 on a Saturday and we were told it would be a 20 minute wait for a table, despite numerous open tables throughout the place. We chose to eat at the bar instead, which turned out to be fine, but the place never got close to busy and the many open tables only grew over the next 90 minutes or more. We never could figure out the reasoning, as they seemed adequately staffed. Regardless, we enjoyed ourselves and will certainly be back at some point without hesitation. My bestie and I stopped by Knuckleheads for some popper burgers and bestie time! While I wish that I could say that we had an absolute great time, a nagging gnat literally ruined the meal/time for me. We literally swapped left and right trying to get this gnat between each bite with no luck. It was frustrating - especially after telling a waitress and having her disregard it. Aside from the gnat, I really did enjoy the food. The popper burger was really good! I ordered the burger medium rare, but got a burger that was well done. However, the raspberry jam, whipped cream cheese, and grilled jalapeños really compliment the popper burger and makes it taste oh so delicious! (I asked for the bacon that comes on the popper burger to be on the side). The popper burger comes with two sides. I ordered the fries and steamed broccoli. The sides were alright - nothing too special. However, the restaurant does have malt vinegar for the fries which is always my favorite! Totally cool Cafe aka Kafe in historic Grand Rapids. Tonight was the first time I went there with my hubs, sisters and bro in laws. We were greeted as soon as we walked in the door by the nicest employees. There are a couple window tables in front and more seating back past the bar area. We were seated back there since there were six of us. Our waitress was there immediately and got our drinks right away. Food was soon ordered and was served in a short time. We had a variety in our meal selection consisting of burgers, a BLT, sweet cherry salad and pork chops. The sides we had were fries, cole slaw and black beans. Everyone was more than satisfied with our meals and our waitress checked back a few times with more drinks. There is street parking and also parking on the side of the building. Very easy to enter and not far to walk. We will be going back since I had a salad this time which was delicious but with everyone raving about the burgers, I need to try one. read more

We were staying at the nearby Mill House bed-and-breakfast. The folks there said Knuckleheads Kafe was one of their favorite places to eat. We took their advice and were happy we did. I had a great lunch here over the summer. We walked into town from the state park (Mary Jane Thurston) to do some window shopping, and hey, it happened to be lunchtime. We were seated quickly, orders taken and had great appetizers and salads. The quality was really good. Located in a quaint little town, Knuckleheads is a local favorite, even for a late-night dinner. We got into town late, and even at 9 pm, they were still serving their full dinner menu. We were seated immediately and were given a run down of the extensive beer selection here. I went with the blueberry lemonade shandy which was absolutely delicious (and only $4 which is crazy cheap coming from a city folk.) I started to peruse the specials menu, but as soon as I saw the mac and cheese menu, my search stopped. I'm not sure if this menu is year round, or just seasonal, but it features around 10 different varieties of homemade mac and cheeses; anything from a classic to a little crazier flavors. I ordered the buffalo mac, and others at the table ordered the classic and the chicken bacon ranch flavors. All mac and cheese dishes come with a side (I chose fries) and have the option to add chicken for $1. What arrived at the table was the most beautiful pasta masterpiece I have ever seen! Overflowing with cheesiness, this deep dish mac was steaming hot and looked and smelled absolutely delicious. And boy, it did not disappoint. Typically I find mac and cheese at restaurants to be a little too sweet, but my buffalo mac had a strong bleu cheese flavor with hints of buffalo sauce. It was rich and creamy, but not overwhelmingly so. It was a large portion, but I ate as much of it as I could because it was so delicious. I could go on an on about this flavor, and all the others that we tried, but you'll just have to try them yourself! My wife and I have eaten there several times now. Food quality is okay, still don't understand pureed black beans that look and taste like baby food. Only reason for 4 stars, the incredible decision to stay with a billing system that requires a flashlight and magnifying glass to read the receipt. All the workers said there have been many complaints, but owner doesn't change. This is just outright stupid. Update review: Pureed, baby food black beans still suck. However, I had the steak and it is incredible! I was told that they hand cut them from a full loin. Cooked to perfection, juicy and really nice finish. Only comment, they put this wonderful steak on an ice cold plate. Apparently the plates are stored under an outside air vent or something. read more

Extremely good little corner restaurant in Grand Rapids. It is along a small mainstream strip of the very cozy old fashioned quaint town. Very modern interior, with a superb atmosphere for a date night, a night out with the friends, or just a quick bite to eat. The restaurant is in walking distance to the river as well, so you can enjoy the views and nature while digesting your food. The prices are very affordable, and the portions are superb. You get a generous amount of to sides with every burger. And let's just say that the burgers alone will fill you up. We're talking large enough to conceal your knife blade inside of it haha. I got the Swiss Bacon Mushroom burger with fries and black beans as sides. The majority of burger meals ranked around $8. Very good price for the amount and taste you get. The vibe is grand, and the music is top notch hits from the 60s-80s. Every song playing tonight was terrific, ranging from: Pink Floyd, The Cure, Hendrix, The Doors, and more. Service is a little slow if you go during the high tide, which from one glimpse, seems to be from around 6pm till close. Drink wise, there is a bar, and they even have their own craft beer, along with the basic domestics. Drinks are average cost for craft beer, averaging around $5. I would have to say it is one of the best burgers I've ever eaten in Ohio, and it sure filled me up (which is not commonly said). If you want to enjoy the little town around it and it's antique and vintage stores, make sure you go earlier because they seem to close after 5pm? The bathroom was a single room, with one toilet and one urinal, no division, but it was clean. As for WiFi, there is none. What there is if you do not mind using your data plan, are two pokemon go pokestops, that you can place two lures and enjoy the catches and spinning. Last night we took a ride along the river and stopped for dinner. This was our first time and it did not disappoint! Masks are required and employees were all wearing them. I ordered the Buffalo Chicken Salad, my husband the BLT sandwich with fries and coleslaw and the daughter had a burger, side salad and fries. The service was excellent, the young lady working had the entire restaurant to work and she kept up with everyone. Amazing to see what I believe was the owner/manager pitching right in and helping her. Our food arrived quickly and each of us thought it was delicious. The salad was huge and could have been shared by two! The presentation was spot on. Perfect amount of salad dressing, blue cheese and Buffalo sauce (not overly saturated), The fries tasted home cut and were perfect. My husband said the coleslaw was very good and they didn't skimp on the size like most restaurants. The BLT had thick bacon and some type of red pepper sauce on it and that was delicious. Burger was cooked to order and perfect. Do yourself a favor and ride down to this quaint little town of Grand Rapids and enjoy shopping and stopping for a meal. Another stop for dinner and still no disappointments. My wife, youngest daughter and I went the other night for dinner. Out daughter ordered the BLT and my wife ordered a salad. Came here a few weeks ago with my girlfriend, to try something new and I can gladly say I will not be returning here again. The food was EMBARRASSING to say the least. I orders a grilled chicken salad and the chicken looked like it came straight out of a Tyson chicken bag and tasted awful. The lettuce tasted like it has been sitting out for days and came straight from a bag at the grocery store. The silverware was dirty and the plates had food stains that you could wipe off with a finger.. the ONLY reason that they got 1 star, was because the Baked beans are the only good thing that restaurant has to offer. I really love this restaurant...a lot...and have never had a bad meal here, in fact usually everything is always pretty tasty and amazing. I have only one complaint. Our server Michaela was terribly unfriendly. She didn't ask us once if we liked our meal and each time we asked her for something it was as if we were annoying her. She's the first waiter/waitress here that we've ever had an issue with. I hope the owner will have a talk with her and ask her to work on her attitude. We walked in with a party of 9 people including my elderly father in law who can barely walk and three toddlers and were turned away because we have too many people In our party. We asked if we could be split up and not be on the same bill and we were still turned away. It was frustrating because a group of 6 people walked in right after us and were seated. I get it if you are short staffed but there were plenty of open tables. We have heard good things about this place and thought it would be perfect after taking our families after the canal boat ride. Which you aren't allowed to have any food or drink on it. Anyone can imagine what we were dealing with. I did not expect it to be so difficult to get 3 toddlers and an elderly person who were all hungry and thirsty into a local restaurant. We were in town visiting old friends and decided to stop here based on reviews. We were very disappointed and while we will be back to explore Grand Rapids with the kids we will skip this restaurant! The good: Ambiance and location is nice. The bad: 1. Kids menu is terribly limited and obviously curated by someone without children. Who doesn't have some sort of chunk, strip, or other oddly shaped piece of chicken on their kids menu? 2. Ordered the chicken skewer appetizer for my youngest. $7 and less than 1/2 of a chicken breast. The portion was extremely small but the worst part was how overcooked these little pieces of chicken were. On a range of tender and juicy to jerky these were just shy of jerky. 3. Our expensive burgers were ordered medium well but delivered well to very well. Las Vegas in summertime has more moisture than our three burgers. 4. Vallient effort on homemade fries but the cool soggy potato strips couldn't be salvaged even with malt vinegar. 5. If it hadn't taken almost an hour to get our food we would have complained and sent everything back. Poor execution from a relatively high priced burger pub. We will not repeat this mistake again. The bread was amazing but truly there was only 3 tiny pieces of chicken on one cut half. There were onions and peppers but that's about it! My husbands sandwich was huge and delicious!
