Just went back Saturday night. Things were off... I made a reservation and they sat us in front of the main entrance. Every time the door opened, we had a blast of freezing cold air. I kind of thought the nicer tables would have been saved for folks that made reservations. The waitress took forever to take our drink orders. It took forever to get the drinks. We ordered our meals when the drinks came so we could try to get ahead of the curve. The soup/salads came and before we could finish, the main courses started coming out. This really upsets me. Take forever to take our orders and then rush us out the door. Dinner rolls are available, but one has to ask for them. It's in very small print on the menu. Why the server can't ask if the diners would like bread is B.S. I know their method saves them money, but I think they could change their practice and still keep the lights on. The prime rib was tough and not very flavorful this time. The server didn't bus any of the salad or soup dishes, so the table was an overly crowded mess by the end. Seriously, to have to keep your side towards the middle of the table is just a P.I.T.A. Not sure how much potato fell off of my fork on its way to my face. Friday night is date night, so we decided to get out our Foodie Cards to determine where we would go to eat. I lost at the game of cards, so my cards were not used to select the dining destination. The card chosen took us to The Whitehouse Inn. We arrived around 6:30pm and had to wait a short while (about 15 minutes). Due to the low ceiling height, it was quite loud inside the dining areas - really loud! It was peak time for dinner, and a Friday night, so we were prepared for things to take a while after ordering. We both went with prime rib as we heard the Whithouse Inn serves up a great slab of meat. We started off with the Atomic shrimp appetizer. About 15 minutes or so past by before we received the app. Lightly breaded, nicely spiced, and the sauce paired well. It was tasty. We both ordered a salad, but it never made it to our table. I made our server aware of it and told her it was okay, as I knew how busy she was. She apologized and said that was the second time it happened during her shift. She packaged up a a couple salads to go when we were ready to leave. It was an additional 45 minutes before our meals made it to the table. I ordered the Speaker of The House cut 14 - 16 oz (market price was a bit of sticker shocke when I got the check $46). I always order my steaks and prime rib medium rare - the only way to go right? Unfortunately, my cut of Prime Rib had a lot more fat/gristle than what I wa expecting. It was done to my liking, but seasoning was lacking for my taste and temperature was lukewarm at best. Worth the $46? In my opinion, not even close! We both asked for mushrooms on the prime rib - an extra $3 each. We had a Foodie Card for a $10 discount and our check wad still right at $100 for our meals and the app, no drinks. Yikes! After my last couple experiences at local reputable "steakhouse" have missed the mark. I guess I will resort to making prime rib at home if I want to treat us to a great tasting cut of meat. read more

I could not find anywhere else to leave a review, so I am doing it here. What a difference a year makes! The last time we ate dinner here it was so good. That was before the fire and reopening. Today was my birthday and I have never had such a horrible dining experience anywhere. Food was absolutely horrible, service was rushed and haphazard, the servers acted like they REALLY did not want to be there. Flys buzzing around my head and food the entire time we were there and so noisy we could not even talk! They seated us right by the kitchen and it was a constant stream of people in and out and yelling and banging from from the kitchen. It was hot, they had air on and fans, but was obviously not keeping up enough to cool. $150.00 for horrible food for 4 people and we didn't order anything from their top their menu, no appetizers, a beer and a few glasses of wine, served in plastic glasses. While attending a H.O.O.V.E.S and vent they caterered! The huge portion of prime rib was juicy and the green beans were seasoned well! I appreciated the assortment of condiments that came with the baked potato. The grilled chicken was moist as well. And the salad had a good mixture of different vegetables. I was grateful to be able to try them because I was just visiting Ohio for a little while, and their food made a difference in my mood and the event that I was attending. I went today. Got in right away. Service was good, waitress was young and a little forgetful. She was polite and attentive. I ordered Demonical steak medium rare. Over cooked more like Medium. Steak was okay, can't really say it was the greatest, but it was okay. Price was a bit high, but I did order steak. I got the garlic mash potatoes came out a little on the cold side, but taste was okay. Cost was a little over 50.00 for just me with one drink and a glass of pop. Salad was very good, couple of pieces of wilted/unfit lettuce but I just took them out and put them on the side of the plate. Not some place I go a lot because I live about 45 minutes from there. We had reservations, thought we'd be inside the restaurant, we were put in back room, cold, Smokey and food was terrible. Prime rib was so fat, did not eat. Forgot some of our orders and barely came around to refill drinks. Worse off you don't put non smokers in a room where people cannot go one hour without a cigarette. After reading some of the recent reviews on here, I was a bit concerned about visiting this establishment. However, I am sooooo glad we came in. Visited for dinner on a Tuesday night. Contrary to what you may read, everyone on the staff was wearing masks as well as customers when they weren't eating. Hand sanitizer was available. Everything was COVID compliant. Now, let's get to the good stuff. The food and service were outstanding! We were seated promptly and ordered drinks, which took no time to find their way to our table. Ordered the loaded soft pretzel bites and the blue cheese chips. Both were to die for. One member of our group claimed not to be a fan of blue cheese, but loved these chips! I had seen the pictures of the French Onion Soup, so everyone tried a cup. Unbelievably good! Loaded with onions and cheese, never had better. For dinner, we had a couple prime ribs, a Rueben and the Perch. I couldn't believe there wasn't a picture of the Perch on Yelp, so I had to get it. And, I was not disappointed. Small, lake perch, lightly breaded and flash fried to perfection. Accompanied it with a twice baked potato, which rather than being in the potato shell, was baked in a dish...interesting, though delicious. The Perch did not come with coleslaw, but the sandwiches did so I had a chance to try it. Amazingly good, like it was just made that morning. The fresh taste pops from the first bite. They need to include this with the Perch! Social distancing could be construed as a bit of an issue. The place was reasonably crowded, but for the first two-thirds of our dinner, we had no one within 6' of us. Then a table of 4 was sat next to us. Do NOT order the jalapeño cucumber margarita... trust me. It's a monstrosity of sickeningly sweet syrup! I love jalapeño/cucumber margaritas because they are typically a little lighter in sweetness and have a nice earthy taste. Not these! I should have known when the neon green drink hit the table that it was going to taste like a chemical bomb. Next up onion ring tower... get the half it's HUGE! We took home two giant onion rings even with just the half order. Probably the best onion rings I've had in the area. Both of these stars are for the onion rings. The saddest part of the meal... the prime rib sandwich. Don't ask how I want my meat cooked if you're going to serve me leftover well done overly dry prime rib. And how can a place who makes delightful onion rings screw up the onion straws? It's practically the same thing. It was a huge miss. My boyfriend and I were going to split a meal, but he wanted his prime rib well done ... who does that?? And he didn't want cheese... again why?! lol. But we could have split one anyways because they delivered two well done dry sandwiches with melted cheese and soggy onion straws. We never touched the drink after one foul sip... no offer to make a different drink, just let it sit there collecting dust thirsty from that sawdust sandwich... no replacement, no apology, and it remained on the bill. It was a sad day. Whitehouse Inn typically has phenomenal food and service. Is this just the lunch time standard? We did notice that once we ordered our sandwiches it was removed from the special board. I'm pretty sure we got the very last of the leftovers and it showed. It's been a long time since we visited The Whitehouse Inn. We had a reservation and we were immediately seated. The wait staff was good and Jenna, told us she was new but it never showed. She was very attentive and kind. We both had the prime rib and it was excellent! We shared an order of brussel sprouts and they too were delicious! It was pretty crowded when we arrived at 6:30PM but some of the large tables started to leave after a short time and the atmosphere was very pleasant. We will be back. read more

Very disappointing tried to order onion rings, they are all out. Tried order linguine, they no longer offer this. Offered no kids menu when seated, we had a 9 year old with us. Pretzels appetizer comes with 3 pretzels, why they odd number? Sides that are unavailable potatoes except for french fries. No baked or sweet options. Price of Filet Mignon went from $34 to $50, come on a jump that much would make me change suppliers. Other prices were not even close to this increase. French Onion soup was, as before, good. House salads, with amazing homemade dressing was great. The time between courses seemed a little longer than it should be. The runner did actually try to give us another tables food. Learned they were also out of sauce for chicken chunks. Might want consider restocking before the weekends. Staff stated that Sundays are the worst they run out of everything. Perch dinner was not too bad, but for their desire to be fine dining it was lacking. Bright spot was the over cooked $50 steak was comped. They had cooked it near the point of leather. In an effort to hide this it was covered in mushrooms. Some ways to save some money, with the increased over head claim, maybe have less mushrooms. It was nearly comical the amount. Overall this entire adventure was very disappointing. We eat here about three times a year. That number will certainly decrease if this is the new normal. read more

We ate here twice in one day. Based on the food alone, I'd have given them 5 stars. Unfortunately, they changed their prices and don't have it clearly stated so we were pretty frustrated. Not with the price increase itself - we are well aware of the inflation situation - but with the lack of clear communication. There was a small sign on the table (pictured) but we honestly thought it was specials or appetizers. The menu didn't reflect price increases, nor did the server point it out when we ordered. My husband spoke with the manager who offered to refund some of our money, but he just wanted to express to them that they needed to be clearer. Ironically, there is a photo of Mr. Fronk next to the front door that says something to the effect of "don't worry about the money. Worry about the people." It also seemed to take a very long time to get our food. But they were very busy. Now... the food. For lunch, we had the fish & chips, 4 cheese grilled cheese, CMB, shrimp platter, and burger. All delicious enough to have us back for dinner. (We are visiting family.) For dinner, we had the ribeye, loaded baked potato, salad, burger with fries, walleye, crab cakes, and French onion soup. That soup was very, very good. Especially on such a cold night. The ribeye was perfectly cooked and seasoned. An example of how a simple steak done right is perfection. They have a bustling clientele, which can be difficult if you want an intimate atmosphere. The $7.49 loaded pretzel bites showed up on the receipt as $7.99. I hate when restaurants don't update the menu pricing to match what they actually charge. Such a great service! The waitress was so attentive and always ensured to check on us and take care of our needs. The food was out super quickly and tasted all American and home diner like. I will say they were super busy for lunch on a Sunday and their parking lot is TINY so make sure if you don't get a spot, park on the street as it is free. read more

What happened? This used to be 5 stars! The food was "ok". We had reservations for 4:30, and were seated promptly. 5 adults and 3 children under 10. We had to ask for a kids menu. After we ordered, they brought the kids food first, which I thought was good. But they were done before 4 of the adults meals were served. They returned several times stating the other meal was coming. I believe they forgot to cook it. They gave us half off of the late meal. Part of my prime rib was so chewy that I had to spit it out. Upscale prices, low quality diner atmosphere. Had a reservation, waited a few minutes but then sat at a wet table with diner chairs. Felt like I was at a small family diner or cafeteria, no ambience and yelling across the table and could barely hear eachother. Took 45 minutes to get appetizers, 3 full hours from sitting down to leaving. Other tables were sat, ordered, ate and left while we sat with half empty drinks, starving. The good- amazing French Onion Soup. I could have only ate this and been very happy. IF I return, it will be this saving grace. The bad- I love pretzels and beer cheese but the cheese was off... honestly, I think they substituted pepper gravy! No taste of cheese and runny, it was bizarre. Also, a few of us had cocktails, one incredibly strong and unbalanced and came out warm. Another had a refill that took over 30 minutes to come out. The ugly- a place that specializes in prime rib has to do it well... three diners at our table ordered medium rare, three different temps came out. One rare, two medium and cold to touch. After waiting almost two hours for entrees, we were just happy to have food BUT thoroughly disappointed. I will say, as a new patron of the restaurant I did not feel as welcome as many regulars seemed to be and for the prices, expected much better service and atmosphere.
