Prime Rib - Speaker Of The House cut 14 - 16 oz $46
    Kerry M.

Friday night is date night, so we decided to get out our Foodie Cards to determine where we would go to eat. I lost at the game of cards, so my cards were not used to select the dining destination. The card chosen took us to The Whitehouse Inn. We arrived around 6:30pm and had to wait a short while (about 15 minutes). Due to the low ceiling height, it was quite loud inside the dining areas - really loud! It was peak time for dinner, and a Friday night, so we were prepared for things to take a while after ordering. We both went with prime rib as we heard the Whithouse Inn serves up a great slab of meat. We started off with the Atomic shrimp appetizer. About 15 minutes or so past by before we received the app. Lightly breaded, nicely spiced, and the sauce paired well. It was tasty. We both ordered a salad, but it never made it to our table. I made our server aware of it and told her it was okay, as I knew how busy she was. She apologized and said that was the second time it happened during her shift. She packaged up a a couple salads to go when we were ready to leave. It was an additional 45 minutes before our meals made it to the table. I ordered the Speaker of The House cut 14 - 16 oz (market price was a bit of sticker shocke when I got the check $46). I always order my steaks and prime rib medium rare - the only way to go right? Unfortunately, my cut of Prime Rib had a lot more fat/gristle than what I wa expecting. It was done to my liking, but seasoning was lacking for my taste and temperature was lukewarm at best. Worth the $46? In my opinion, not even close! We both asked for mushrooms on the prime rib - an extra $3 each. We had a Foodie Card for a $10 discount and our check wad still right at $100 for our meals and the app, no drinks. Yikes! After my last couple experiences at local reputable "steakhouse" have missed the mark. I guess I will resort to making prime rib at home if I want to treat us to a great tasting cut of meat.

The best item we had was the French onion soup! I got the walleye and for the price there was a lot to be desired. They do not specify that their loaded baked potato is actually instant potatoes in a soup cup. The chicken chunks were ok. Mac and cheese was average. Service was really good, friendly and fast. Loved the ambiance and the notes of Presidential history within the building.

Found the pics from our first visit. You'll see what the interior looked like. Very timely for this year. Will photograph the interior for Xmas. And here is a beautiful shot of the prime rib. Sad to say, doc says no more medium rare for me. Has to be medium from now on( )!

While attending a H.O.O.V.E.S and vent they caterered! The huge portion of prime rib was juicy and the green beans were seasoned well! I appreciated the assortment of condiments that came with the baked potato. The grilled chicken was moist as well. And the salad had a good mixture of different vegetables. I was grateful to be able to try them because I was just visiting Ohio for a little while, and their food made a difference in my mood and the event that I was attending. They support veterans so I support them!

This place is worth the drive. Friendly staff offering delicious food what more could you ask for. Prime rib is amazing. Other notables, onion rings, sandwiches and fresh salads to fill you up. Great out of the way destination; always busy, phone ahead for reservations.

After all, the prices are marked on the menu and nobody is forcing me to eat there...but, when it's in my face... 25 bucks for 2 links of Andoulli with a, fairly large, "shot glass" of coleslaw and another, smaller, shot glass of pickled onions, and, a tablespoon of brown mustard. I saw the price but I still ordered it. After dinner my wife was laughing her ass off: "That anduoilli could have been from Kroger, you know?" I'm sure she was right. If the sausage was homemade, I'll issue a retraction...and eat my hat. That said it tasted great. For 15 bucks, it would have been a good deal. 90 bucks for a dozen oysters and a few prawns, AND 5 tasty scallops. We saw the prices but still ordered it. The oysters and sauces were excellent, so were the scallops. But that ain't "market price." The beignets for dessert were more than ok. Almost, but not quite there. The atmosphere of the establishment, including the patio, is top notch. I like the look and the feel. The service was also great. The waitress was friendly, knowledgeable, and took great care of us. Drinks: I've been drinking a lot less as of late (I like being cut more than I like being buzzed), but last night, I did have an excellent cocktail, or two. In this category, FCB gives you what you pay for! Overall, Farnsworth Cocktail Bar is an excellent establishment. Them prices tho...

It was pleasant in a basic way- nothing amazing but nothing horrible. We were seated at a table to accommodate 12 people. Our server was Ray. At the beginning, he was on top of our drink and entree orders. Throughout, he did a good job of keeping our orders straight. Toward the end of our meal, it seemed that he was busy with other tables and it took a while to get our checks and check us out. However, he still kept our credit cards straight in returning them to the correct person. For the the food... One half of our table didn't have a great experience but the other half enjoyed their meals. Those who ordered the Tuscan grilled chicken were happy and took leftovers home. Unfortunately I was on the half that had a disappointing experience. My friend across from me had lobster ravioli. She said the entree wasn't warm and the sauce was very thin and watery. The friend next to me ordered stuffed mushrooms but was subsequently told the restaurant was out of mushrooms... Really?! She then selected a salad with shrimp and a side of broccoli. She found her entire meal inedible- shrimp on the salad weren't totally cooked and she found the broccoli cold- as if frozen and not totally defrosted. Another friend had a shrimp caesar salad and I had a chicken caesar salad. My friend didn't care for her salad because it was overly salty. I didn't enjoy mine either. The chicken was overcooked and difficult to cut. Plus, I agreed with my friend about the saltiness of the salad, both the salad/chicken and the caesar dressing. I ate what I could and didn't take home leftovers. I personally have no desire to ever return to this restaurant and can't recommend it. The prices were very expensive and lacked quality. In fairness, the 3 star rating reflects the half of the table that enjoyed the Tuscan grilled chicken.

We arrived early enough on a Saturday to beat the crowd and were seated promptly by our waitress Skyler. She was extremely attentive to our needs and saw that we had brought a cake with us. The drinks came out quick and my son really enjoyed his peach margarita and later a Pina colada . My draft beer was cold and came with a lime, just how I like it. We ordered the queso cheese dip and ended up ordering a second one as we liked it that much. My wife ordered a Cajun chicken chimichanga mini sized and my son and I ordered the Mikes southwestern bbq fajita chimichanga. All of our food came out fast, hot and fresh. The portions were large and we all enjoyed our dinners. After eating, our waitress brought out our cake along with a lighter for our candle. She and some of the other waitresses placed a sombrero on my son's head, gave him a fried Ice cream and sang happy birthday to him. He had a great birthday dinner. Kudos to Skyler our waitress. The appetizer and drinks came fairly quick which was nice. Then we ordered our food. A side salad arrived shortly thereafter but no silverware. We had to ask a couple times to get silverware to eat the salad which took several minutes to get. Next our food came and the presentation was very nice. The food however was hit and miss. My wife ordered the chicken and broccoli fettuccine and her chicken was extremely dry to the point where she only ate the pasta and not the chicken. The pasta lacked flavor as well. I even tasted it and couldn't believe the lack of flavor. My mom had a chicken salad and her chicken was also dry but not too the same extent as the pasta. My son ordered the triple play special and added the ribs to it for the additional charge. When the food came the waitress advised that they had run out of ribs. He enjoyed his chicken chunks and onion rings and pretzel bites that came with his meal. My father ordered the Reuben and thought his was ok but not great. I ordered the pork tenderloin sandwich which was supposed to come with mayo and pickles but no mayo and very little pickle. Anyways, I am giving this place a 3 because the service and food were both lacking. I will say that they were very busy being that it was Father's Day but that shouldn't affect food quality. Lastly they didn't take off the ribs from the check and I had to have that fixed which should have already been handled by the waitress after discovering they were out.

We went again on Saturday. WOW!…read more Started with a Martini for my dining partner and iced tea for me. Both were great. The waiter (Josh, a five-star waiter if ever there was one) really knows how to take care of his customers. He really knows the menu, can explain the dishes along with their components and what makes them unique and paces each course perfectly. He even asked if we were BOTH done before any dishes were removed from the table. Nothing looks worse than one person still eating while the rest of the table has no plates in front of them. We started with the roasted carrot salad. The carrots were perfectly roasted and chilled with and amazing tahini "paste" and radicchio, perfectly dressed with a lemon vinaigrette. OUTSTANDING!!! Seriously, this could have been my entire meal! The tahini paste is great, and I made it once while making a tahini dressing for roasted Brussels sprouts. Tahini naturally gets thick (paste like) when liquid is added. To make the paste, just stop adding liquid to it and stop mixing until it gets smooth again. Seriously, delicious. We both ordered the chicken schnitzel for our entrees. It comes with a really nice side salad consisting of mixed greens, dressed again with a very mild vinaigrette. My only quibble (and it's a really small one) is I would have liked the schnitzel to be a bit thinner. That said, it was perfectly cooked, not at all dry and the thickness is up to the creator of the dish. I don't think there's a "standard" for this (ha, ha - get it!). Great breading and very tasty. The dessert... Again, had to go with the sticky toffee pudding! If this is on the menu, there's no way I'm not going to order it. GOD, it's just a perfect ending to a great meal, well, that along with a pot of French Press coffee. All in all, the meal came to $108.00 excluding the tip. Expensive, but WORTH EVERY PENNY! I spent that much a few weeks ago (maybe more) on a really awful meal/experience at a different place. You'll have to read my old reviews to figure that one out! Anyway, this place treats their employees like they actually appreciate them. They took them on a cruise! Of all the restaurants I used to work at, the best thing I ever received was a shift meal or maybe a cold beer because I was still at the place cooking apps at 1:00 in the morning and the manager wanted to go home but felt bad because I couldn't leave. Thanks for the glass of Miller Lite draft, Mr. Chi-Chi's manager guy! Everyone in the place, from the servers to the hostesses, to the bus folks and the floor manager had smiles and a sense of graciousness and appreciation to each and every customer. Try to find that at any other restaurant in Toledo. The food is top notch, made with very unique recipes and techniques you're not going to find anywhere else. The dining room and restrooms (at least the men's) are clean. I never had to ask for a refill on my iced tea or water. New silverware was brought before each course was served. The old plates were removed from the table after the staff asked if it was OK to do so. Proper training in procedure and etiquette is obvious. Again, just a great meal in every way - 10 out of 10! Can't wait to go back.
