Let me start by telling you, this was a second choice for breakfast. I missed Cracker Barrel so this was an alternative. I will tell you they had the best biscuits and gravy I've ever had. PERIOD. we got there at 8ish in the morning and they had room seating 7 of us. Amanda was our server and she was very attentive. The hubby and I shared a road kill omelette and it was really good. They had the hash browns inside the omelette! Such an innovative idea. I got the side of biscuits and gravy. Our friend had the tri tip with eggs (along with a beer) and said it was delish. Our boys shared the eggs and sausage breakfast and there was plenty for all three. Best of all they served mimosas, which is a requirement for a 5 stars on yelp. We were on our way back to Long Beach from Barstow and decided to grab some food before we headed back. I was in the mood for eggs and searched on Yelp for a new place to try. We came across Outpost cafe and the photos looked exactly like what we were looking for. It's was a seat yourself cute little western diner style place with a welcoming vibe. Our server Dee came right over and took our drink order immediately. That's always a great sign and a promising start to a dining experience. She then came back over and took our breakfast order and everything came out perfectly! The coffee was hot and fresh, we got our waters (which most people forget), my divorced eggs were exactly as pictured in Yelp and the taste was phenomenal! My boyfriend ordered a breakfast burrito wet and he devoured it, saying it's the best one he's had yet. But let me tell you about the best part..... THAT HOMEMADE SALSA THO!!!!!! I have been looking for this exact tasting salsa for Months to buy to have at home. I asked if they sold it and sure enough, they did!!! We bought a pint to take home and in less than 24 hours, it's almost gone! Their salsa is hands down the best I've had outside of a Mexican restaurant. Back to our experience lol bc I could talk about that salsa all day! Our drinks were always filled. Dee was on top of it the entire time! And our food was perfect!!! Fast service if you don't go during their rush hour, just like any other place. It's a great spot for a family outing or if you go by yourself. You'll enjoy your time and food there. My second time going, I did get a little attitude from our waitress, as she kept rushing us and when I asked about an item missing from my son's kids meal she told me I was wrong and walked away. I read the menu 3 times just to make sure I was right but I just let it go but my son was left without his fruit bowl, which his combo was supposed to come with. We ordered the same thing for him the first time we tried Outpost, so we knew what it came with. Anyway, aside from that little hiccup, the food is delicious. Portions are big and the price is just right! I had the bacon wrapped meatloaf the first time and loved it! The second time I had the cowboy eggs Benedict and they were very tasty! Instead of it having English muffins, it came with Biscuits, egg, a sausage patty then, they were smothered in gravy! So so delicious! Went here since my daughter told me about it. I had the Hangman burger with country potatoes. Awesome and big. Great flavor cooked just right. What a meal. My wife had the rib eye steak. Superb flavor and cooked perfect. Came with baked potato and fantastic clam chowder soup. This is not a place for classy clothing or yuppies. Just great food with good service. OMG! Amazing breakfast spot in parking lot of a truck stop on our way from San Diego to Tahoe. Hubby and I agreed that it was the best (and least expensive) breakfast we've had in CA in 7 years. I had chicken fried steak with three fried eggs, hickory smoked bacon (hubby says best bacon ever) and a big pancake. All were awesome! Had a good mimosa too. Hubby had biscuits and gravy and bacon. Place was pretty quiet at 645am on a Tuesday morning, but the "old farts" crowd started showing up around 730am. By the way, that's not meant derogatory but that's my loving term from my Red River NM days for the retired guys that hang out for coffee every morning. They called themselves that there. Ha. Total bill was $27. I never clean my plate anymore since usually food at restaurants in CA just isn't worth the calories but my momma would be proud of me. I ate every bit. Another big plus, great friendly service and when we went outside, our stuff was still on the carrier rack on the back of the Jeep. That doesn't happen closer to the coast. (Sigh) read more

I have been looking for a great country cafe for quite some time now and I finally found one!!!!! We walked in to a small crowd of hungry people waiting for a table. Most needed 6 or more per table and I only need a table for 2, so witching a few minutes we were seated. I ordered the repeater burger with fries well done and let me tell you.......Awesome and Perfect! It was cooked perfectly and seasoned just right and my fries were exactly how I ordered them! My wife had a Turkey half sandwich with chicken noodle soup. She said her soup was the best she has ever had and she's picky! Not only was service top notch, but we had multiple waitresses ask if everything was ok and if we needed anything else. We felt like they really cared about our experience and I think the entire staff was great! As busy as they were when we arrived I was thinking we would be here for 90 minutes and they proved me wrong and with the whole experience, I believe you will be glad you stopped in and enjoyed great food and amazing service! I've seen this place for some time now, and have wanted to try it. Tonight was the night. I probably didn't catch them at their best, but the food was delicious and fair priced. When I arrived, it looked like the dining room near the restrooms was reserved for a large party, no problem. (I did see the group coming in later as I was leaving.). About half the counter was filled and all but a couple booths and tables were filled. Busy! I was happy to snag a table near the back. My server, "P," took a while to get to me. She was running her tail off. I didn't see another server there until I left, yet P was handling every table and counter customer I could see--she was overwhelmed. A couple guys came in after me, and I could tell we're growing pretty annoyed about how long it was taking for them. They said they saw two other waitresses at the front doing nothing except talk with each other. I can't confirm that. As a result, it took some time to get my order in. I ordered the NY steak with rice pilaf, and a salad. I had to correct her a couple times, but she volunteered that she is hard of hearing (and it was above average in noise). She thought I wanted my steak medium well, no, I like medium rare (glad I caught that!). I ordered my salad with French dressing. It came with blue cheese. No big deal. Then she came by and apologized for putting blue cheese on it when she meant to put Ranch on it. By then I was about half way through the salad, and the blue cheese dressing was good. I said nothing..... The meal came, my NY steak and mashed potatoes with brown gravy. What? She was already turning to go help another table when she put the plate in my hands. So, sure, mashed potatoes and gravy instead of rice pilaf is what the good Lord provided, or someone did. They were good tasting, but I immediately wanted one of those old fashioned open faced roast beef sandwiches on white bread, drenched in brown beef gravy to go with the potatoes. I hesitantly cut into your steak. Hallelujah, medium rare. It was delicious! P was super nice and pleasant, she was just too busy to do simple things like refill water cups. Another table went and grabbed their own menus too. Some customers came in and knew her and they exchanged greetings by name. I'll be back. Busy is good for business, I just hope next time the staffing is better balanced or it's not as busy. read more
