Great tasting breakfasts can be found here. I ordered Corned Beef Hash and Eggs. I chose the homestyle potatoes and a pancake for the sides. The corned beef hash came from a can but that is a good thing. (I never had much luck taste wise with the homemade kind.) The breakfast meal met with expectations; it was tasty and hearty. The single pancake was plenty. It was thick and tall. I also ordered a cup of oatmeal which came with all the fixings like milk, butter, brown sugar, raisins, and granola. The oatmeal portion was large for a "cup." The bowl size portion, even larger, of course, would be good by itself for breakfast. The oatmeal was nicely textured, smooth, and creamy. Service was exemplary and friendly. The dining room is comfortable. This place will definitely go on rotation as a breakfast choice. Parking is plentiful in their lot. read more

Who would've thought...this little gem hidden in Victorville! On my way to Carlsbad after leaving before sunrise, the breakfast cravings hit just before Victorville. Anyone who is familiar knows that Victorville is half way between desert and desert!! Not much happening in Victorville in other words! This was the only place that I could find open with decent to good reviews. It's "small town" diner paying homage to its Route 66 days. Naturally that lends itself to having a "character" or two for employees, and for solid good service. Both were on full display! I was told to try their Country Style Steak Burrito, and due to being their guest, I had no choice! The burrito is massive, stuffed with that familiar tender breaded steak, then smothered with country gravy! They even go as far as to ask how you want the eggs cooked inside o the burrito which I really appreciated! This was a hole in the wall that does not appear to be in the best area but it is a small gem. I heard a lot of good things about the food here so figured I'd bring the family after church. We got greeted right away and it's self seating. It has an old town rustic route 66 feel which was pretty cool. My daughter ordered the Chorizo & Eggs which is her go to and she enjoyed the flavors (coming from a hispanic household) that was a compliment to the chef lol. My son chose the Huevos Rancheros and since there are two different types, one with chorizo and one style without, make sure you order the correct one. My son is not at all a fan of Chorizo so when it came out (wrong one ordered), the staff was great to correct the order without any issues. Will definitely recommend as a place to try! read more

Was in Victorville and needed a place to get lunch. My friend saw California Classic Cafe and wanted to check it out and so we headed over here! For a table for four during noon, it was about a 15 minute wait. We were seated and then I went through the menu to figure out what I was gonna get. They had a classic breakfast selection (think waffles, steak and eggs, burritos), and some lunch selection (think burgers and tacos). I went for their eggs benedict, which was a muffin with ham and Hollandaise sauce, with hash browns/homestyle potatoes on the side. The sauce was kinda thick and I felt they added a bit too much of a thickening agent to it, but it was decent. There wasn't as much runny egg yolk in the middle as I was accustomed to, but they had a bunch of sauce surrounding the muffin. The potatoes were made with enough flavor, seasonings, but I kinda wish I had more. (I also like potatoes haha). Service here was friendly as they came around frequently to re-fill beverages and to fill up on different sauces. read more

Nat King Cole - Route 66 Sun shines brightly.  Sand reflects the sun's light and heat.  After hours of driving through the California desert we wanted to stop at a diner.  California Classic Cafe is in a kind of industrial area.  Seems kind of out of place as a diner in a small desert town would seem to belong in a more rustic setting.  Inside there is respite from the heat.  Smells like breakfast.  There is a bunch of Route 66 stuff on the walls.  California Classic Cafe is on Route 66.  Back in 1926 Route 66 ran from Chicago to Santa Monica.  I imagine a trip across the country on Route 66 would have been epic back in the day. I picked the Supreme Platter as there was a good sampling of meats.  Scrambled eggs were fluffy and had a nice fresh egg flavor.  Glazed ham had a tasty sweet and savory flavor.  Tri-tip had a delicious beefy flavor.  Homestyle potatoes were crispy and had a delicious potato flavor.  Biscuit was fluffy and had a nice mild flavor while the gravy added savory flavor. Staff was friendly and attentive.  I enjoyed my meal here and there are a bunch of other attractive items on the menu for next time.  One day it would be cool to drive along Route 66 and see the sights that began America's car culture.  Today though I have to continue on our road trip to Las Vegas. read more

The food is always delicious and a very good value, sirloin steaks melt in your mouth! Always filled with flavor and juicy. I usually order scrambled eggs with steak, fruit or pancake or hash browns, you can not pick poorly, every item on the menu, breakfast or sandwiches for lunch, you will be pleased! If you are an early riser, you may be extra lucky and get, my personal favorite server, Robin! A real treasure! She takes time out to play peek-a-boo with the regulars children out on the front bench, after a long morning of running around cheerfully serving people! Now the food we ordered was the country fried steak the breading was a bit hard an dry but the meat tender.. the gravy was good a bit peppery for me but my son loved it. Sad part was there was hair in his eggs an the eggs were rubbery. My chilaquiles were great the eggs again tasted rubbery. The French toast was awesome I highly recommend them. I will not be eating here again. To go only maybe. Horrible and rude service. The food is isn't bad and prices are decent. The service used to be great. That's the reason we kept coming back. Today's vist though the waitress must of been new or in a bad mood. She didn't come back to check on us after she brought our food. I had to wave her down to ask her for things we needed. And when it was time to pay she didn't ask how our food was or even tell us to have a good day. And she was rushing me to hand her my card. I didn't give her a tip. I've been to several of the mom and pop breakfast spots. Mollies, Spirit Cafe, and TNT Cafe. Compared to those this place has some work to do, homestyle potatoes weren't homestyle at all, seasoning and overall flavor was completely absent.
