We were in the area and needed a bit of breakfast so decided on this place. Service was great!! The veggie omelette was big enough to share which we did. However our muffins never got delivered. They gave us the bill & I asked about the muffins again, she totally forgot and they were on the microwave. I would pass on the pumpkin muffins. Nothing special at all. Just driving by this place, it wouldn't seem like much. When you open the doors it's a beautiful spot with open seating. It's much larger than it would appear. I enjoyed the modern stone backsplash. Gave it a homey cabin vibe. The food was delicious. Didn't taste frozen at all. Can't go wrong with breakfast. The salsa was 10 stars. I asked if they made it in the back & the lady told me yes. Came to this place once before. It's okay, nothing super special but the service here is amazing!! This time around I got the all American cheeseburger and it was a little bland. The bread to meat ratio is off or else it would have been a little better. The onion rings are superb tho! We had a pretty big party and it was fairly easy to get a spot in the back. The minute we walked in with my ADA service dog, this middle aged man decided to take upon himself to speak loudly about service dogs, obviously we knew he was talking about us. Just because my service dog is in a carrier doesn't mean he isn't a "real" service dog. My service dog is trained to remind me to take my medication and detect when I'm about to have a panic attack. Although the food was delicious, we found a hair in our food and it took a while for our server Kimberly to check up on us. Even then, we had to ask every other server for help since she didn't go help us at all really. She was attending other guests and checking in on them, but hardly came to us. I hadn't been to The Villager in years - not since back when it was Bill's Villager and had an all-you-can- eat salad bar (way before the dark days of Covid). Well, it's interior has had a major remodel, but the food is as good as ever! Since I was there for an early breakfast, I had to try the Country Fried Steak, which was HUGE! For a place that was always generous with portion sizes, the new owners have definitely honored the old tradition. Be aware, they also have a Chicken Fried Streak breakfast on the menu, as well, with addition proteins (bacon and sausage also added), but I couldn't fathom more on my plate than my breakfast already provided without fear of "busting at the seams." Even on a rainy Sunday morning (10/1) the place was fairly busy, and it appears locals remain loyal customers when bad weather discourages lowland visitors. The lady I was seated next to raved about the Eggs Florentine, which she had ordered despite claiming she had all the ingredients at home but couldn't replicate. Service was fast and efficient, with all the waitresses checking on me when passing by, which you don't always experience at a lot of diners where your primary server shoulders the load. Outstanding teamwork, Ladies! Numerous offers to fill my coffee throughout my meal and friendly checks to ensure I had everything I needed was the mission of the entire crew. I was rather touched by the fact that severals servers offered me a hearty, "Welcome back!" in unison when they overheard my comment that I had been here often when my Dad would dine with me in the years before his passing. Many of the local eating establishments have switched to shorter "off-season" hours - some even closing around 2:00-3:00 in the afternoon, but it appears The Villager is open later. Prices are reasonable and the portion sizes ensure nobody leaves hungry - prepare yourself for leaving with a "doggie bag," - even if dog-less! Your leftovers won't go to waste. I can't wait to come back on my next visit to sample some of the lunch or dinner faire. The weekend prime rib looks tempting; however, I have a feeling nothing on the menu would disappoint. Kudos to The Villager, its new owners, and the excellent staff (both in front and in the kitchen); you deserve every ounce of praise I have given. What an amazing breakfast!! I had not returned here since it was perviously known as bills and I finally decided to stop by today. I like how they redid the interior, they kept some of the old features of the previous restaurant but changed some other things up quite drastically and it looks nice! We ordered the chicken fried steak breakfast and the eggs Florentine breakfast. Though I ordered the steak for myself I have to say that the eggs Florentine were the highlight of the breakfast. The Hollandaise was the perfect flavor and consistency and the spinach paired really well overall with the whole dish; I generally avoid eggs Florentine because of the overpowering taste of cooked spinach, but they nailed it here, the perfect balance! I was honestly so shocked to see the giant piece of steak that I had received, most places shrank their portions of chicken fried steak, but This place left me speechless!! Placed the order over the phone, they were quick to pick up the phone and and take my order all while being nice. Food was ready within 15 minutes!! Last time we were here was when it was Bill's, over 4-5 years ago. The Villager has been renovated, cleaned up and servers are moving a lot faster. The food (chile cheese omelette & French toast were very good. Servers were very nice and prompt with ice tea and coffee refills. Given today's inflation the prices were very good. The corned beef hash was delish and so was the meat loaf sandwich--though the potato salad siding for me was the real winner there. Service was friendly and efficient. First off, the waitresses are EXTREMELY FRIENDLY. That's why I really hate having to give just 2 stars to this place. As friendly as the waitresses and owner are; the service at the Villager is very, very slow (by the way; this is a common complaint for ALL the 5-6 restaurants in the town of Blue Jay!). I really don't mind slow service if one of two things happen: 1) It's incredibly packed and busy. 2) The food is AWESOME. Sadly, neither were the case here. There weren't that many people in the place. We both ordered the fish and chips platter; which consisted of a plate that was 3/4 full of basic french fries, accompanied by 3 small to medium-sized pieces of forgettable fried fish that looked and tasted as if it came out of a box. The tartar sauce tasted like someone mixed a bowl of relish and mayonnaise. I really, REALLY don't like writing less than3-star reviews of any business that employs fine people; but we honestly could have eaten just as well by knocking down a Filet-O-Fish combo meal in Crestline, or Lake Arrowhead. It would have been served quicker; the tartar sauce is more flavorful; and 2 of those orders would not have cost me $50 (granted we had a coffee, and a beer). I can't see myself recommending this place to any friends coming up to visit. Which is too bad when you consider how friendly the people are. read more

Tried a few other breakfast spots locally, price was higher, service was ok portions smaller. Well, not here. Price extremely fair and matching the quanitiy. Service from the moment you enter the door till you leave is top notch. You are greeted, sat down and greeted again and again and again. Everyone takes care of you during your experience. Yes, it is an experience of pampering. Food didn't take long to receive and everything was the temperature it should be. The inside of the place is clean, music playing just enough to hear and you will see the staff singing as they work. Parking was the only drawback here. With how quickly the staff gets you served, I don't see those parking spots being occupied for long periods of time. From entrance to exit for my party of 2, must of been 35 minutes. From the stools set up at the bar to the booths surrounding the restaurant it was a diner through and through. The service was fantastic all the way from the start with the person who sat us to the finish. Everyone seemed to really care and make sure we had a great breakfast. The food is the star here. I had the all American breakfast and it was everything I could have asked for and more! The only fault I could give is hoping they might have some better coffee next time. The Villager Coffee Shop is a phenomenal place to have breakfast if you are in the Lake Arrowhead area. The food was absolutely delightful and the service was amazingly friendly and efficient. Our coffee and water was always full! Also the food prices are not as tourist-gougey as Bin189 at the Arrowhead Resort or in the Village. We arrived around 10 AM on Sunday morning and were seated immediately. I loved the open feel of the table and booth layout. The food and coffee was fantastic. The hash browns were EXACTLY the way I like, very crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. The fruit salad had fresh peeled oranges in it and every piece of fruit tasted perfect. I normally don't talk about fruit but in this case it serves some of the spotlight. The restaurant seemed to be a mix of locals and tourists. When I heard a neighboring table order an egg white omelette I was reminded I wasn't that far from LA : ). There is parking in front of the restaurant, but also much more in a parking lot across the street so it was very easy to access. The service was exceedingly nice and efficient. We were greeted kindly, our waitress was super nice and attentive from arrival to departure. The Villager is a reincarnation of Bills Villager. Completely redecorated, new menu. Very well done. Our server, Mary Ellen was great. Personable, knowledgeable , attentive. She did everything right. My wife had the smoked tri-tip salad and was completely satisfied. I had the meatloaf sandwich. Wow! Excellent. I opted for grilled sourdough. My side was potato salad.
