Our family had an incredible time at the Paniolo BBQ Dinner. Everything from the stunning views and the history of the Hawaiian cowboys to the delicious food and live music with line dancing made it a night to remember. The children especially enjoyed the variety of entertainment, including corn hole, horseshoes, roping, and Tetris Tumble. The S'mores station was a highlight--the fudge-striped cookies are a must-try--and branding our own souvenir was a wonderful touch. Thank you for such a memorable experience!

So much food the plate needs to be bigger!!

Everything was amazing! The food remains unsaid, but I will elaborate that Anthony's Catering did the thang thing! Prime rib was moist and well seasoned and tasted delightfully with the garlic mashed potatoes. The bbq chicken was the perfect amount of bbq sauce and paired well with the baked beans. The asparagus was crisp and crisp leaving a nice complement of greens in the salad. I could wait to get to the desert the chocolate brownie was soft in the center and crunchy on the edges. I purposely got an end! The Mac pie was just like my southern pecan pie with the exchanged nut. I will definitely make this a return visit each year we come back.

The location is breathtaking. The hospitality is warm. The storytelling is engaging for all ages. The music is fun. The sides are delicious. The roast beef is the best I have ever had.

Paniolo BBQ is a hidden gem that offers a wonderful experience for both kids and adults. They have fun stories, live music, majestic views, enjoyable games, and the food is amazing!

What an experience.... The Paniola BBQ dinner is not your traditional Hawaiian fair. And is more Gourmet than the BBQ you are thinking of. The host/ranch owners and all the staff are amazing and the Prime Rib meal with all the next level side dishes was outstanding Don't forget to take in the View.

This was an amazing experience! The sunset views are so beautiful! The owners and staff were wonderful. The food was excellent. Make sure you plan to spend the whole evening. We enjoyed cocktails and bags before the sunset. There was music and line dancing after dinner. S'mores, stories and stargazing! Our family lived this! There are a fair amount of people so there is a wait for star gazing with the telescope but worth it for the experience.

Watching the sunset and seeing the sky change colors was Awesome! You can see Haleakala, Maui on a clear evening and it's majestic! It feels like you can just reach up and touch the clouds. Surrounded by sky and grass pastures was so peaceful and picturesque. It was like stepping back in time a little and imagining what the Big Island was like a long time ago. The entertainment was simple but perfect for the setting and family. The folks running the event are 100% Aloha! Dave was Exceptional! He's the parking attendant, the safety and history guide ....And the entertainment! He played guitar and sang! Incredibly versatile and engaging! Drinks... Non alcoholic are included in the ticket price. Beer and wine was $4. Cash Only!! No ATM up there so bring cash with you. The food was plentiful and tasty! I highly recommend the combination of brownie and the Mac nut pie...take a piece of each and savor that amazing bite. Oh! And then there's the make your own s'mores! For after dinner activities... Stargazing with an incredible telescope. We saw Saturn and her rings! Branding your own souvenir. Horseshoes Corn hole Sitting by the fire and enjoying the evening Dancing The drive up to Kahua is a bit of an adventure. Kohala Mountain Road is twisty fun. I do not recommend drinking more than 1 adult beverage just to make sure you are clear when driving back down. It's super dark and steep. It's roughly 20 minutes from Waimea/Kamuela.

The food is wonderful and plentiful. I could barely finish all the food on my plate and they encouraged people to get seconds. The prime rib was half the size of the extra large plate and the chicken thighs were was big as a chicken breast. The event is well organized with lots of activities for all ages. The ranch has some of the most beautiful views on the islands. There are sunset views from the dining tables.

My husband and his brother both lassoed the cow.

We had such a great time here. There were activities before dinner. We played horseshoes, bean bag toss, roping a wooden cow. After dinner we looked at the moon and stars through a very powerful telescope. The dinner was very good. It was buffet which was great for a large crowd. They prime rib, chicken, green beans, baked beans, mashed potatoes and salad. The food was very good. They also had beer, wine, soft drinks, coffee, iced tea and hot chocolate. I would recommend coming here, well worth the money.

We rolled in with a family of 10, which is usually enough to make any restaurant quietly panic. To make things even more interesting, our group was split in two, with the second half arriving about 20 minutes later. The staff didn't miss a beat. They made sure everyone was accommodated and able to enjoy lunch together without making us feel like we'd just thrown a wrench into their afternoon. That's the kind of service you don't forget. Speaking of service, the wait staff was warm, friendly, and incredibly efficient. They struck that perfect balance of making you feel welcome without hovering over the table asking if you're "still working on that." Now for the food... wow. The BBQ sampler was loaded with smoky, tender goodness, the poke nachos disappeared faster than I could claim a second helping, and the tacos were absolutely delicious. Every bite reminded us why people rave about this place. And then... dessert arrived. The banana cream pie and the chocolate cake didn't just end the meal they stole the show. If you leave without trying one (or both), you may want to reconsider your life choices. The rustic décor and relaxed atmosphere make this BBQ joint feel like you're eating at a friend's house and if your friend happened to be an incredible pitmaster. Fantastic food, outstanding service, and a staff that genuinely cares about their guests. Fish and the Hog isn't just worth the drive it's worth planning your day around. Five stars without hesitation. We'll definitely be back... preferably wearing stretchy pants.

We've eaten a ton of BBQ around the US and the brisket was one of my favorites. The ribs had a sweetness I really enjoyed. Reuben Spring Rolls $16 - Not pictured but loved them! Chocolate Cake $12 - Since it was my actual birthday, my partner wanted to get me a slice of cake but boy are they huge. It was absolutely delicious but we had to take it to go. I would recommend they have smaller slices as eating a ton of BBQ and devouring a huge slice of cake is due for a heart attack. Ambiance 5/5 Got a nice table by the window minus the horsefly. Service 3/5 The lady who sat us and took our drink orders is extremely sweet and friendly. Our service was just okay, she didn't really add to our experience as if there was something on her mind.

The exterior, and interior, of the building is nothing special. As a matter of fact, that's part of what I loved about it; it helps you realize it's an all around fantastic food joint, not just somewhere that charges overpriced amounts for average food because of the "vibe." It's extremely busy inside this place, and staff was extremely friendly and pretty quick with turning out orders. I ordered a two entree plate, which consisted of their teriyaki chicken and pina colada shrimp, per the recommendation of the woman taking my order. The shrimp was incredible and the pins colada sauce that it comes with it's something I now dream about! The chicken was also great. It's dark meat, which is something to keep in mind in case you're a pickier eater, but the char and flavor of it was wonderful. For the sides I ordered rice and their mac salad. I'm not usually a mac salad kind of guy, but this changed my mind and I can now say I'm a true fan. This is perhaps one of the best places I've eaten between the two islands I visited on this trip, and I can't say enough good things about it!

They opened with beef tartare that ruined me for every other beef tartare I've ever had. The osso buco is legendary. Then came the double cheeseburger... and I need everyone to understand that I don't hand out compliments like ketchup packets. This is, without question, the best burger I've ever eaten. It's so good it makes you want a cigarette afterward--and I don't even smoke. I've come back many times just for that burger because nothing else I've tried on Hawaiʻi Island or Oʻahu comes close. Their tater tots have developed their own fan club, and the little bar with beer, wine, and cocktails makes it dangerously easy to linger. The staff is consistently warm and welcoming. After being away for six weeks because of a family emergency, one of my first stops after returning was this burger. It was still outstanding, but I did notice the beef patty seemed about a third to nearly half thinner than I remembered. At around $20, that's noticeable. I'm hoping it was just an off day because this place has earned enough goodwill for me to give it another shot. Don't overlook the butcher shop itself. The meat quality is miles beyond what you'll find in a grocery store. I bought their ground beef for a ragù alla Bolognese, and it was so spectacular that I went back specifically to buy more for homemade burgers. Bottom line: this is one of the hidden gems of the island.
