We discovered Outside Coffee on our way out of town and we fell in love. Incredible coffee paired with a delightfully whimsical outdoors store...what's not to love! We went for a hike up Mt Baldhead to Oval Beach and back up. Afterwords we needed coffee and bathrooms. Outside Coffee came up on our search list, highly recommended, and open! While most other coffee shops nearby were closed, Outside Coffee was open. Thank you! Furthermore, the coffee was delicious. From drip coffee to cold brew to lattes, you can't go wrong. Everything is high quality and delicious! The staff in both the coffee shop and the outdoor shop were incredibly friendly, welcoming, and helpful. We loved perusing the outdoor shop goods while we waited for the coffee. Plus the bathrooms were clean and available. What more could you ask for? We now have a must-stop coffee shop next time we are in the area. Thank you for being available, delicious, and high quality, Outside Coffee! And see you next time!

I decided to opt for the dole whip, which was pineapple with the option to swirl with strawberry . Refreshing on a hot summer day. We carried our two small dogs in, as they were dog friendly. My kinds got whatever the brightest available flavor was, and I got a graham cracker ice cream with little bits of chocolate honeycomb in it. It was a milder flavor as expected, but so good I almost got it twice. The second time in I got a "Blueberry Waffle Cone" flavor that was vanilla ice cream, blueberry swirl, and small chocolate covered ice cream cone pieces. Phenomenal. Hard to pick between the two, and both better than what we had across the street. It gets busy in here, and there can be a little pressure of the line pushing as we sample, but hold your ground and try a few because they have a lot of fun flavors to explore. Lovely place. PS they charge a smaller fee for CCs but you can pay debit or cash to dodge it. Looking forward to returning again sometime down the road.

I love my coffee, so when I travel, I always seek out a local roaster, and I am SO GLAD that I…read morefound Uncommon during my first visit to Lake Michigan! I'd come across them while doing my HW for the trip, but without really knowing the area, I'd thought that staying in South Haven meant I wouldn't get the chance to visit, but after stopping in to The Flying Saucer in South Haven and picking up their beans there for the house, I learned everything is kinda close on this part of the coast! This is their main location, right in the heart of Saugatuck. It's cozy and colorful, warm and inviting, and filled with some incredibly sweet people. Oh yeah. They have A LOT of great coffee too! Their specialty and seasonal drinks all sounded delicious, but I'm a purist in pursuit of the best cup of black coffee, here for the single origins and blends that are sourced and roasted by this skilled team. Walking in I was faced by a massive wall filled with beautiful bags of beans from all over the world, each labeled with notes on origin, processing and flavor profile. I set my sights on a pour over and when the cashier said I could choose anything from the wall, I was gobsmacked (that's a funny word). The range was so impressive, with great representation from all over the world, processed in all different ways, making the choice quite difficult. It's a good thing I used my time in line to look at all of the options, and I settled on a white honey processed coffee called Villa Sarchi, which was delightful. If I have one quibble it's that they didn't have an actual pour over menu and this is simply because I enjoy asking the baristas about the coffees. This spot is super hot, with a line out the door at all times, so despite the barista at the counter being incredibly accommodating, I couldn't in good conscience hold up the patrons behind me with too many questions or returns to the wall. I also tried their espresso lime tonic for a beverage to stroll with and enjoyed the slight sweet and tart drink very much on a hot day. Uncommon also has a great menu of food offerings and we had a bagel breakfast sandwich and one of their MASSIVE savory scones. I wish I'd asked or been asked about warming the scone because it definitely needed it, but holy hell this thing was packed with cheesy goodness and the perfect foil to my naturally sweet coffee. Normally I go home with one bag of coffee as a souvenir, but I couldn't help but buy two, which were in addition to the beans I also bought in South Haven! In total I think I sampled about 5 different Uncommon roasts and loved them all! I loved this place so much I looked to buy merch, but sadly they had run out of the sizes I needed. There's always next time. Or maybe they'll ship...

Very much looks the part, but was left wanting a little more tbh…read more First off, vibes wise: amazing. Beautiful old house converted to a coffee shop with a dreamy garden in the back. Incredible. Coffee wise: fair. I ordered a few specialty summer cold brews for my wife and I and they were tiny, and my wife's was well-made with cold foam and cinnamon, but mine barely had a dollop (I gave her the good one, aren't I a nice husband?) I got a black coffee on my second visit and it wasn't very good. Service: friendly but slow. I was SO glad to have pitcher on pitcher of cold brew back at the AirBNB so I didn't have to wait. The times I came, this place was popping and it (expectedly) took some time. Hours: I was out for an early morning walk in the six o'clock am hour and several other middle-aged to elderly people were circling like vultures waiting for their caffeine fix. I feel like in peak season bumping hours to 6 or even 6:30 might do numbers for them. Food: I ordered a buttered bagel for my kids the first time in and it took a long, long time. I think they forgot about it. It appeared to be a grocery store style bagel and was ok. I'm telling you, this place looks beautiful and it's got great energy. It just so happened the business and the coffee on just a few visits didn't quite land. I would definitely encourage folks to try it out, it just missed the mark more than I was hoping for.

It's such a cute and inviting store, you'll love to browse, even if you don't buy anything, but I bet you can't leave without buying something! The chocolate black walnut fudge we bought was the creamiest I've ever had, and I've eaten fudge pretty much everywhere we've been on vacation. Many people were eating ice cream cones which looked delicious also, but I figured the fudge was enough sugar at the moment. Service was super friendly and fast and helpful. A definite must stop!

Holy rip off! $40+ for four ice cream cones? Go across the street for half price. They conveniently don't list their prices anywhere. We were full and ordered kids scoops across the entire family, yet what I received resembled a small basketball of ice cream. You're probably thinking, this guy.. complaining about "too much" ice cream.. was his lobster too buttery, his steak too tender? But let me explain. Sometimes you don't want a pint of ice cream delicately sitting on a cone. Sometimes you just want a little bit, and for that to be their smallest option, it just doesn't make sense. Especially for my already wired kids. The second was the aforementioned sticker shock. We went to the place across the street the next night and our normal sized, delicious cones were about $20, half the price. So yeah, it's not so much a bad review because of quality or anything, just a bit of a misleading and poor experience. Others in the store were sharing similar concerns, so I wonder if this place has pushed it as far as they can and need to scale back. Oh my ice cream was pretty tasty, but super rich and nowhere near anything I could finish. That's all I got, a bit let down by Kilwin's.
