Pictures are just a small sample of the flaws. I needed business cards quickly and my current vendor was unable to print my design in Pantone colors, just CMYK. I reached out to Chris from Dupli-Group and explained my situation and he said he would be able to meet my deadline no problem. I was quoted in email at $345 for 100 cards, which is ~3x more expensive than elsewhere, but I needed them quickly so I didn't see much choice. I was also quoted $10 to get 3 different proofs, which I agreed to. My designer provided proofs with Pantone color #s so that it would be an easy print. Chris agreed to meet in person ~10 mins from his house to show us the samples, but hours before meeting, he called telling us that it would cost an additional $75 for those 3 card samples. When I asked where this fee came from, he said he just found out himself. We met him and pointed out that the samples had fraying around the edges of the cards that looked like they weren't cut cleanly. Chris assured us that it was because it was a sample and that the production run would be on other paper and would not have this issue. We gave him the credit card details for the $85 ($10 proof fee + the $75 mystery fee), and we agreed to the run of 100 cards. Dupli-Group produced the cards the next day and Chris met us on his way home from the office. We gave him a check for $345 and received 100 cards, but we immediately saw several issues that we pointed out in person. The fraying was still there, looking like the cards were sitting in someone's pocket for weeks. Chris said this is because the paper is white before it is printed. Some cards had extra unprinted slop on the edges, and the remainder were not centered properly. Chris said my designer gave it to them that way, so I politely showed him the email my designer sent him with the perfectly centered proof. Chris then said the $85 charge didn't go through. Upon checking, we had given the wrong zip and provided the corrected one. At home, I took photos with digital calipers showing that many cards were cut at an angle, and the rest weren't centered among other issues. Chris said he would get these issues fixed and bring me more so that I would have 100 good cards. He also said the credit card still didn't go through, and although I wasn't sure why, I offered to bring a different credit card when he brings the replacement business cards. We met 2 days later, but the batch he provided was cut even worse with chunks missing from the edges. I asked him to take them back just to show his boss. He took most and admitted that they probably have a problem with the cutting equipment, but then still asked for the remaining $85 payment. I told him to please speak with the owner first, and we can talk or meet again on Monday to resolve the quality issues and remaining payment. Chris later replied that they will waive the $85 fee, but that morning's batch (which he took most of) was the only make-good they were providing and "this matter is over and done." The owner, Wally, finally chimed in, saying I was "fortunate to be working with Chris on this project" and implied I was cheap and they "felt certain I would do the right thing" and pay the $85 fee, which they graciously waived after still failing to provide 100 acceptable cards. There is much more that wouldn't fit in the review, and I only included a couple pictures with personal info redacted, but I am still shocked that a company would rather insult a customer than address literally any of the myriad quality concerns. But hey, at least I paid $345 for a useless stack of card stock.

At the top, or behind the counter, sits a kind and benevolent guru named Guy, who is there for all my and your printing needs. He was patient with me when I forgot to put in printer's marks. When I went to pick up the proofs, he brought me behind the counter and into the printing room and his computer to show me why my particular design would have cropping issues. He patiently sent me back to the drawing board and happily emailed me to tell me when it was time to come back for attempt number two. The prints look great. I can't comment on the prices because the boss writes the checks not me, but Guy is great to work with. I know his phone calls will make me laugh and his prints will make me smile.

In one sentence - Guy is an absolute straight shooter, friendly, knowledgable, helpful and holds your hand into something that he does best - printing! He not only educated me with biz card design formats but also adjusted my digital asset, all for an incredible affordable price. It was an urgent job and he had me covered. Now he is my PRINT guy! All my print campaigns and company product sheets are going to him for sure. If you are in the Lakeview/Ravenswood/Lincoln Park area definitely go to Guy. Moved up several levels in the hierarchy of experts, but they could not solve the problem. I went to the "Genius" Bar at the Apple Store on North Avenue, no go. They referred back to a support department at Apple. These guys sent me an email referring me to Apple Support Online. I don't have time for this! Here is what Should have done in the first place. I called Mac Tutor. They sent Joshua Horsley. He solved the problem. I have used Mac Tutor in the past and in my opinion these guys are way more knowledgeable than any Apple "Genius." If you do not mind spending a little money to save a lot of time, this is the place to call. And it is not just the time, they get the job done right. Someone, please help. Very fragile fabric and two layers. Tina did a wonderful job. Every single stitch is perfect. I had an Epson printer that needed its inkpad replaced/reset and I've tried/failed with a local HP specialist before. So when I found CMI as an authorized Epson shop as another shop (just a bit closer in terms of an audio repair I needed to run to Arlington Heights from Rogers Park), I gave them a call for an estimate. They quoted a rate that matched the competition of $89 (that was just a little farther) and offered to do the job while I waited. Since I was going to be back in the area to pickup my audio repair, I left it with them. On pickup day, I was running behind and I called them at 4:40 p.m. before closing to see whether I could still stop by. They said they'd still be open and was glad for not needing to make a separate return trip. (Will update review after I get my printer up and running again). Glad that there two great Epson repair shops in town, even if they are a haul from home.

This place and the owner, George, had excellent reviews. I called and he recognized the message, said he had the part, and said he could fix it and have me on my way in 30 minutes. Cost was $89 on a credit card. Discount for cash. Service was great. Printer producing great color photos again as well as beautiful text. I recommend George and this place highly. They are on Cortland now in Addison. Only the Epson website has the correct address. Their own website and Google and yelp all show the Fullerton address which is incorrect. Have George confirm the address when you call him to make an appointment.
