This was the first time we ever tried the oval office. I have to say, The Myrtle Burger is no joke! I ordered it with chili (since I saw they have chili in the hot dogs). Oh my good lord above!!!! This burger was beyond words. That chili should be added in the menu on a burger to own its own title. Not to mention, the onion rings are battered fried with love and can not compare to any other that I have tasted. My hubby got the mullet basket. He said it was pretty good! Great service, original decor. Great prices. I had trouble finding a menu on line so I took pictures for anyone in the future that would like to see what the begin to offer. First time we decided to go here and when walking in the place is very small. It's a bar and restaurant. The restaurant has very limited amount of seats. Maybe 9 tables. That's approximately. They had a lot of Nascar Memorabilia which we liked. Very loud when the people are drinking. I think the majority of people knew each other. The reason for the one star is : I hate when you go somewhere and they don't tell you there will be a charge or up charge for something they don't include with the meal. My meal said cole slaw and fries. Most places have something they include if you didn't want a certain side. I specifically asked what I could get instead of fries and she named off things so I said onion rings. When the food came they didn't give me onion rings they gave me fries. I hate to complain but I said I didn't get them. She went and got me some right away. Then I was shocked they sold a steak um sub. For $11.99 she got a half sub and asked for a side salad instead of fries. Once again not saying " I just want to let you know there is a $2.49 upcharge for tbe salad My Mom assumed it was just exchanged. She did say there was a $1.50 charge if you wanted curly fries instead of the regular ones. So needless to say when the bill came out it was $55.00 and the extra $5 was for salad and my onion rings. The fries were cold so I'm glass I got the onion rings. Well the steak sandwich was a joke for the money. I was shocked they would charge so much. The food was nothing special. I got fish and they use corn meal for the breading. I was not a fan. The coleslaw needs to be chopped a little better too for the people who have a hard time chewing crunchy things. I had to add some sugar to make it taste better. Over all none of us were impressed and would probably not go back. read more

Worst restaurant experience . Service was poor - listed specials had no prices . Server was not sure of prices on specials . Food was awful - the grouper was not fresh . It was grey . The Myrtle Burger was (chefs kiss) AMAZING!!!! Cooked just right!!! And I love that their fries don't have that gross coating on them. Everything was delicious and piping hot. First time we came to Oval Office. Food is amazing. We had the Myrtle Burger and fish and chips with a side of Okra. All was made fresh and hot. The fish was huge chunks of cod and fried with a light batter. My son said it was the best burger he has ever had. We will definitely be back! read more

I love the Oval Office! I usually just get a side salad, which is very fresh AND big, with blue cheese dressing on the side. Sometimes I'm a little adventurous and order a basket of fries with ranch and honey mustard, but mostly I just go to drink my usual Diet Coke and hang out with friends. The wait staff seem like family and that's a quality that's a thing of the past in this day and age. You can't go wrong if you meander off I-10 onto Avalon Blvd and happen to drop in at the Oval Office for a bite or to just sit a spell. You'll feel like you've gone back in time. read more

Hidden gem on Avalon and I-10. I should have given it a one star so no one else finds it ;) Definitely a "locals" place, friendly staff, a handful of tables and fantastic service. It's usually pretty crowded at lunch but we've never had to wait more than a couple minutes for a table. Everything on the menu is really good. Burgers and wings are the best bet though. Chicken breast sandwich might be a little small for some people - think chicken-fil-a size breast or a little thinner. NASCAR themed, cool stuff on the wall and an arcade machine. read more

I've been eating at this establishment for many years: some of what I have to say may be controversial. The Myrtle Burger is a legend. But this legend has unfortunately suffered in the past couple of years due to excessive grease being used on the onions that, in a chain reaction, infects the bun (grilled next to the onions) and the rest of the burger with fratricidal slop. It is still delicious but quickly becomes an inedible pile of goo as you go along. They used to be more careful with the onion oil with better results. This leads me to unfortunately advise against the Myrtle Burger unless a (delicious) hot mess is not a problem for you. Don't worry, there's plenty else that's great on the menu. Let's start with the burgers: they are among the very best in the area, way better than is obtainable from Whataburger, Five Guys, or any number of casual dining establishments. Veggies are very fresh and exactly as they should be. I recommend the bacon cheeseburger with Pepper Jack. Cubic Inches are a spicy cheese curd served with either regular or jalapeño ranch: don't miss them, they are wonderful. Onion rings are homemade and delightful, the fries are very well executed steak style, and the portions are generous. You won't leave hungry unless you have a tapeworm! I'm also a big fan of their salads and homemade dressings, and the Philly is very good. Never did eat the hot dog yet or the ham sandwich but it has its devotees. Perhaps most importantly, the beer is served ICE cold and they have a nice variety on tap. I had a burger the other day with some Sam Adam's Octoberfest and the combo was tip top! Service is consistently friendly and responsive. Do yourself a favor and check this place out. read more

We stopped here on a long drive and were thrilled we found it. My boyfriend doesn't rave about burgers easily and he said it's definitely one of the best he's had. I agree. I ordered the mahi mahi sandwich and it was great, too. Our server was a delight. Funny and straightforward. We were on our move to Texas so we live very far away, but if/when we can find an opportunity to return, we certainly will! This pic doesn't really do it justice. Review Time: Oval Office Pub & Grub I'm very surprised I haven't done review time on this place. I have been here several times, which I have never been disappointed with these amazing greasy delicious thick patty burgers. Let's see if this place has still got it. I love these small town laid back restaurants. You could come in your pjs and no one would care. Always have excellent southern hospitality. It does take time to get your food here, but it's well worth it when it's made to order and super fresh. Now I have never had a beer here, but today I did. This beer, as you can see, came out in this frosty mug ice cold. This ice head was phenomenal and absolutely delicious. Today we only had burgers. Once again, I was not disappointed. The patty was super juicy on a super soft bun with fresh veggies on the side. I'm not a super fan of their fries, but the huge basket of fried okra was phenomenal. Its a small place with auto racing decor. I ordered the grilled ham & swiss on rye with homemade chips. Nice sandwich. The chips were a bit greasy but still crunchy.
