Carpaccio- you're missing out if you don't try it.
    Cynthia D.

We have been here before and it was really good. The Carpaccio is really tasty but I would had preferred some Arugula with it since it is a salad. Our server was very attentive and the vibe in the restaurant was good. It's a very nice restaurant. Carpaccio & Wings are a must try for your self. We will go back.

If you love very expensive but mediocre food, drink and service, this place is definitely for you. On glowing recommendation of several bartenders and waiters in the area, we decided to try it. We arrived and the front staff didn't say hello or greet us, they asked if we had a reservation. We did not. We were told we could sit outside in the heat and wait for 25-30 minutes on waitstaff or sit at the bar. We opted for the bar even though pretty evident the air conditioning was barely working inside. We order the pimento cheese pups. We were very excited to try. As a born and raised Southerner, I was excited to try. It was just fair to middling at best. It was sweet and didn't have any pimento cheese flavor to it. There was some commercial processed cheese shreds underneath that added nothing to the dish. It was so uninspired that we chose not to order anything else. It's clear that this is a quantity of quality restaurant. The staff aren't friendly, the food is meh and the drinks are uninteresting. We will not be back.

I sat at the bar on Gallery Night to try a beverage and food item. The place was packed and I was lucky to get a seat! The bartenders were slammed, but still attentive and kind. I ordered a non-alcoholic beverage called Sultry Rhythm - a pink drink in a salty rimmed glass - and it felt like a tasty little margarita. The restaurant was bustling with a variety of booth, table, and high top seating. Bathrooms were in the back and had a nice message. The seabass was recommended by the bartender (I think his name was Fong? Couldn't hear him well) and he knocked it out of the park with that rec. I've recently come to enjoy sea bass and I always always love an Asian glaze. The boy choy and fried rice were an incredible addition to the dish.

If you go on a Saturday night U suggest reservations. That was the first thing we were asked. But we were accommodated since we didn't. Also forgot it was Saturday and we had been traveling. So may have been a tad under dressed. But that being said this is a must go to place! Our server was super friendly and very knowledgeable about the menu. I had the seared tuna OMG!! All of the flavors melded; the tuna was seared perfectly and not fatty. My husband got the smash burger which I tried to talk him out of because it had foie Gras on it... but didn't listen to me and was not a fan of his food. He tried mine and was upset he doesn't step outside his comfort zone for food. The kitchen is an open concept and makes for a fun environment to the restaurant. Would definitely go back but would be dressed appropriately

A bit pricey for us. Not overly excited to return. The food was okay the service was okay all in all it was okay. For the price it was not worth it. We would not get our sandwich again the egs came to us cold. The nashville chicken was no good. The mussels okay. My drink not bad. Would not get it again for the price. Non alcoholic yet $8 Probably will not be back.

Our 2nd day in Florida and we wanted to explore Pensacola! But first, lunch! Union Public House was on our radar when we initially flew into Florida and had to make plans to come by to eat. It was a bummer as when we drove in, it started to rain so we got soaked running in the rain but luckily dried off at the restaurant and hung out while we waited out the rain. We had heard Union Public House was known for their Scotch Eggs so of course we placed an order of those along with a good mix of light bites since we weren't crazy hungry but wanted to snack on something. The only thing we regretted ordering was the cookie jar. It was very lackluster and disappointing- a huge jar comes out but there's only 8 mini sized cookies that you can't share with everyone. The tartar and korean wings were my favorite food items we ordered. The Creme brulee was of course delicious as well! The drinks were very delicious! Our server, was not as knowledgeable about drinks so he invited us to talk to the bartender but he gave great recommendations of food on the menu for us to try! He had also mentioned to us that he was new to the area, had only just moved to Florida with his wife within the last year so he was still finding and exploring Florida but gave us great suggestions of where to visit after we finished eating, hitting up bars and walking down the streets of Pensacola! We definitely plan to come back and visit again should we ever visit the area. Great for all group sizes!

Decent, but not quite there Union Public House has potential, but our recent visit was a mixed bag. The tuna tartare was the standout--fresh, high quality, and full of flavor. Unfortunately, the side salad was a letdown: just plain spring mix with three lonely cucumber slices--not much thought or effort there. The burger was cooked well and tasted fine, but the beef could have used some seasoning to really bring it to life. Overall, not a bad experience, but for the price and reputation, we expected a little more attention to detail.

Wow, this place was great. From the food to the vibe to the service,. The Great - The food & drinks were excellent The Good - Plenty of seating The Bad - The French Fries were nothing special The Ugly - NA Showed up on a Saturday and while busy, the staff was attentive and efficient. The server was attentive enough that we tried different cocktails and never went thirsty. The apps and food were very good! The fries were just ok - but nothing to excited about. Loved the selection! A little expensive, but that's to be extended at a spot downtown I would think.

I have been dying to try this place, but reservations fill up quickly!!! Drove through the pouring rain to get here and it was so worth it. The inside decor is modern industrial, but inviting. We all tried a different cocktail and they were good! For my entree, I got the watermelon & burrata salad half portion with hangar steak. That steak was amazing. Perfectly cooked and very juicy. Paired with the light and refreshing salad-- so good!! Such a gem in downtown pensacola.

My wife and I stopped in while we were in the downtown area before attending a string Quartet! Only our second visit. Must say that they are consistently good! The people behind the bar know how to make cocktails and the kitchen can put out some very tasty and eclectic dishes! Two thumbs up to say the least!

Ask the Community - Union Public House

Does UPH have raw oysters, clams or mussels?

I think they have tuna tartar but that may be it.

    Does UPH take reservations?

Yes, in fact I say that reservations would be recommended especially on the weekend.

Would this be a good place to hold a book club meeting?

Yes I believe it would. They have a nice side room, they have a very casual atmosphere, great service and the scotch egg will blow your mind. The charcuterie board would also be a great shareable treat. Hope this helps.

It says it's not good for children, why is that?

Hi Kacey! We are aware that some people have classified UPH as “not good for children.” Although we cannot speak for others, we believe that many people feel UPH is a great spot for a date night, evening/lunch with friends, business gathering, or… Read more

Sticky Toffee Pudding....yes, yes, yes. Tender, moist, sponge with host of flavors and topped with an (optional) thin caramel sauce. Really excellent sans sauce. The first thing that impressed me was the ample parking. The restaurant also has a small private beach area for customers, along with a great bar area overlooking the water. The property is handicap accessible with both ramps and stairs, making it easy for everyone to enjoy. As soon as I walked in, I was greeted by Assistant Manager Taylor. He made me feel extremely welcome and even recommended a lunch item from the menu. I took his advice and ordered the Pork Ribeye Sandwich, and it was absolutely amazing. On the side, I had a salad with their homemade ranch dressing. Without a doubt, this is some of the best ranch dressing I have ever had. The bartender, Cody, was outstanding as well. I tried the Lime Margarita, Blackberry Mojito, and the Strawberry Basil drink. Every one of them was fantastic. You can tell this is a place that people genuinely enjoy working at. The staff were friendly, the atmosphere was relaxing, and the customers all seemed happy to be there. It's rare to find a restaurant that gets everything right, but Avenue Pub comes very close. If you're anywhere near Orange Beach, I highly recommend giving this place a try. I'll definitely be back.
