The crowd is mixed but as would be expected with the genre of music, it's older - I would guess the average age of the crowd on the night I was there was 50-60 but they were getting down and having a good time so that's the important part! Parking kind of sucks here so I would suggest coming in early and if you find something in the parking lot or by the mechanic shop, back your car in because people will likely park behind you and it'll be pretty tight getting out later. There is also street parking around the neighborhoods but check the signs to make sure you don't need a permit.

As for the inside stage area, it has some nice sound quality although it can get hot due to the amount of people it can pack inside. Ballyhoo! drew quite the crowd which I'm not surprised with. There's a bar in the main lobby area and in each room where it's full bar and a decent amount of beers on tap. Drinks are pricy as it's during shows so dont' expect dive-bar prices when you're planning to get your drink on here. I'll probably be here for future shows should I find any artists that suit my music/comedy tastes.

In addition it is advertised as a 3 course meal and that didn't happen. What was given to you was an appetizer menu with inflated prices and no variety of selection. There was also a cocktail menu. We were also required to be joined by another couple we didn't know, and it kind of ruined my date night. The show itself was ok with a lot of storytelling and short performances of song and dancing. I had to interrupt the call or game to get served. (As a customer very awkward), I confronted the bartender saying , Hey man why am I not being spoken too or greeted is it something about me ? I told him I had to flag you down for a drink. I swear you not. This guys said. (Well, we are not busy like we were an hour ago it was crazy.) Really? I told him we should be treated like hundreds of people at the bar. I have to to tell you, the other great bartenders that work For Micheal's Outpost they should be disappointed and pissed. At the end i told the bartender that I am sad and I am not proud that he is in our industry This crazy bartender cursed me our the door Those who know me. When I started visiting a friend of mine in Houston on a regular basis I started looking for a club we could visit and much to my delight I found Numbers. What a flash from the past! I'm 58 yrs old but every time I step on the dance floor listening to those old school club tunes I feel like I'm 20 again! Keep it up Numbers! I'm looking forward to my next visit :)

A few minutes later, we were kicked out and told we were "rude" and had been cutting the line, which was NOT true. We were also told that we had supposedly been told before entering that we couldn't go inside, which was confusing because we were allowed in, paid admission, and were even about to get drinks. I understand that a club has the right to refuse service, but I don't understand why we were allowed to enter and charged if we supposedly weren't permitted to be inside. We also weren't offered a refund after being kicked out and received no service. The white lady with purple hair who kicked us out was extremely rude and disrespectful. The way she spoke to us was completely unnecessary, and she made an already frustrating situation much worse instead of simply explaining what the issue was. She also recorded members of our group dancing without our notice, which I found uncomfortable. & I will admit that I became extremely frustrated and cussed at staff. I could have handled my frustration better. However, I still feel that the situation could have been handled much more professionally and respectfully, i genuinely felt like I was being treated unfairly. This was my first time at Numbers, and unfortunately it's not an experience that would make me want to come back at all.

This Play Nightlife bar is located at the former Hamburger Mary's and Buddy's aka Kiki's on Grant Street of the Montrose Gayborhood. The entire complex has Hollywood neon sign on it. The left side is called Club Pause. The right side is called Play Nightlife. Together they are called Pause/Play (like on the music machine). On the weekends, Club Pause opens at noon and music starts at 10 pm. There are other activities like karaoke nights on Wednesdays and Thirsty Thursday etc. I'm usually here on Friday and Saturday nights after 11 pm. Saturdays seem to have a bigger crowd. Club Pause has bounce music by DJ Jimmy D on Saturdays and Sundays. It's a place to hang out and dance. I like to dance at Play Nightlife because the deejays are from the former Eagle Houston. CJ Fader was the resident deejay upstairs and DJ Jimmy Skinner was the resident deejay downstairs. Music is more danceable than South Beach Houston. There are not many parking spots up front. People usually park elsewhere and bar hop to Play from neighboring bars. There are 2 taco trucks in the parking lot. My favorite food truck Pixi Dust Houston is previously called Eagle Eats. That explains why I come to Play Nightlife more often than any other gay bars in the Houston's Gayborhood.
