Over Easy is my favorite breakfast spot in Kent. It's right by the train tracks and is in a historical looking building, having plenty of character and charm. My mom and I went for brunch so we had a taste for both breakfast and lunch foods. Their brunch menu has a wide variety of everything so whatever you are craving, they have something that will satisfy you. They also recently added a drink menu too which I took a look at. I don't like drinking during the day but they had a pickled bloody mary which sounded soooo good. We ordered pickle chips to start. They were pretty good but they came in mini pickle form instead of sliced pickles. Also, there were too fried to the point where there was hardly any pickle. We also both ordered the spinach and mushroom skillet which was delicious. There was feta in it too which was a very tasty touch. Our skillets came with potatoes and toast as well. Our server was so kind. It was really busy because it was parent's weekend, but she still had a good attitude. Also, we didn't make a reservation so we had an hour wait but we were able to track our wait time and see how many parties were ahead of us which was nice. We were able to walk around the downtown area while we waited for them to text us. Over Easy is a great spot for anyone looking for breakfast or brunch. My boyfriend and I absolutely love this place! Our favorite breakfast spot! Cinnamon roll waffles are a great start to the meal, fluffy and fresh every time. My favorite is the breakfast bowl with tots. The service is always on point too. Although you may have to wait 20-40 minutes to get seated (usually very busy on weekends) it's totally worth it. We stop in and reserve our spot, walk around beautiful downtown Kent until the restaurant texts us our table is ready. Lots of parking nearby as well. Just a quick breakfast on a Monday morning! The place looks really nice and wanted to try it out. The location is convenient, the restaurant is amazing, the food was okay. Maybe it's my expectation but I got the corned beef breakfast, with rye toast and over easy eggs. It was fresh corned beef, but not a lot of it. The texture relied on the cabbage and uncooked red onions. There were a lot of potatoes, and they were tasty. The coffee was great, good taste and the service was friendly; a bit pricey for breakfast but not too expensive. My wife got the classic, eggs, toast, sausage and hash browns. The sausage were cooked to a crisp, but juicy inside. We may come back with the kids to let them enjoy the place but otherwise, being half-an-hour away....we may just go to our local breakfast place. read more

Stopped in for breakfast at Over Easy this morning and made sure to make reservations the day before because this place is always busy. My fiancée got the breakfast tacos as they were the most recommended thing for people that are gluten free and she enjoyed them. I got the big boy platter and enjoyed the food but I felt for the size of the meal the platter was wayyyy too big. It would have fit better on a smaller plate. The toast was delicious but I forgot to ask for jelly and that was on me. The other meals were also a success! Highly recommended just note it a smaller place so plan accordingly. read more

Not sure what the deal was today, but the serving size of the steak and eggs was laughable. I think I paid 25 bucks for three tiny slices of steak and what look like one scrambled egg. If you decide to eat here, avoid the Classic Eggs Benedict. It is inedible, as are the biscuits and gravy. The former offers tiny eggs, with broken yolks sitting on a piece of toast that is as tough as leather. The latter offers dry biscuits and a scattering of turkey gravy. Add the pancakes, particularly their giant pancake, to the mix. They are also dry and tasteless. If you plan on conversing while eating, you should go elsewhere. Set in the old depot, the high ceilings make everything very noisy. Because diners cannot hear each other, they are forced to talk louder, which adds to the already noisy environment. Inexplicably, the meals are served on huge plates, making the portions look small, which they are in many cases. I cannot recommend this restaurant. The house Bloody Mary is phenomenal and you have to try the candied bacon! My son got the Belgian waffle, Depot size with pork sausage and sunny side up eggs. The eggs were cooked to perfection! The breakfast was delicious. The syrup was unique but delicious. And the bacon in the waffles was a definite surprise and so tasty. The waffles were by far the best that I'd had. It was fantastic. Obsessed! This was such a great spot for Saturday breakfast. Our party of 4 put ourselves on the waitlist via Yelp ahead of time which worked our perfectly. We were seated within minutes of arriving. The restaurant itself is super cute and rustic. Our service was good and the food was excellent! The pancake served with my meal is THE largest pancake I have EVER seen, and also one of the most delicious! Over Easy serves coffee from a local shop called Scribbled, and that was delicious as well. I loved that everyone got a different coffee mug. Quaint little place set inside of an old train depot in Kent, Ohio. Ample metered parking outside, no outside seating. It was only a Wednesday, the place was busy. I saw the size of the pancake on the table of another diner and thought oh my! It was too big for my taste so I opted for my favorite breakfast, Eggs Benedict. I should have had anything else. The muffin was not toasted. Felt cold and just out of package...one egg poached fine the other was over.....the hollandaise was some of the worst I have ever had in my life. Loose and watery and some off taste...bleh. The potatoes tasted as if they were made on a dirty griddle. The pancake from my guest's plate was delightful. Sad it did not come in smaller sizes. Batter is homemade. Only criticism would be that a 3/4 full two ounce soufflé cup of maple syrup is laughably not enough....as was the one pat of packaged whipped butter....laughed so hard at this. Server was rushed. Actually said the Benny in the menu was their favorite so that helped shift my initial decision from the goat cheese, spinach mushroom scramble to the Benny.... ‍ location is about the only thing this place has going for it. read more

Enjoying back to back weekends at Over Easy at the Depot. Last week the chicken and waffles and today the Avocado Toast. Along with these we had the 2112 sandwich. The tenders pressed thin with a nice light crisp on a fluffy waffle with a touch of heat and complimented by Sriracha maple syrup. Todays avocado toast was the perfect lighter breakfast with thin toast and smear of avocado with black beans and onions which made a great bite from start to finish with perfectly cooked name sake over easy eggs. read more

This place is a great spot. The corn beef is some of the best I've had. And the pancakes were legit. The blueberry syrup on them tasted very artificial. But the cakes were great. DO NOT GET THE OFF THE RAIL BURGER!!! You might be tempted to try the bacon egg and cheese between two glazed Donuts......don't. It was not good. The burger patty was good. Egg was cooked well, but the combo is no bueno. Other then that, three meals here so far have been choice. What a neat place for brunch! Situated inside the old train depot, the ambience of this place is really unique with the high ceilings, ornate lighting, and the view of the train that passes by occasionally. Also, the place is HUGE with abundant seating, so when we went on a weekday morning and there was no wait (can't attest if that is the case during the busier weekend hours). The menu had the classic brunch staples, along with an offering of elk sausage that they recommended (we didn't try this time, but I hear it is very good). We ended up getting the salmon benedict, chorizo skillet, and blueberry coffee. I'm not much of a coffee drinker but I actually enjoyed the subtle hint of sweetness in the blueberry option. In regards to the dishes while they hit the spot, we were a bit disappointed in the flavor profiles since we couldn't really taste the chorizo in the skillet, and the salmon benedict was a bit too salty for my likingy. Four of us, plus a baby went to Over Easy for Tuesday breakfast about 10:00 AM. Two got a pancake, eggs and meat, one just scrambled eggs, meat & toast, and I got Classic eggs Benedict with potatoes. Service was great and the atmosphere is fun and relaxing. One of the pancakes, which were HUGE, was not really cooked, the other was great. One pair of eggs was ordered hard but came over easy. The scrambled eggs were not scrambled very well prior to cooking, so they were presented as yellow and white eggs, like a Steelers Towel. The Benedict sauce was actually very good but I would guess that the Canadian Bacon was cooked earlier and sat waiting for an order, they were dry and crusty. The muffins must have been waved over the heat once or twice but they weee definitely not toasted. I enjoyed the potatoes which were cooked very nicely, spiced just right and presented well on the plate. We most likely will return at some point but today we were a little disappointed. read more

We started coming to this spot once restaurants reopened after COVID. We loved their outdoor seating area, but this trip the winter had us sitting inside. We felt safe & service was great! We loved the local coffee options & the fact that there were flavor options in the offered roasts as well! Both the original & flavored roasts we've had are always top notch. (Plus they're served in unique little mugs!) Breakfast is always great! From pancakes, to breakfast tacos, to this trip's Mushroom and Goat Cheese Skillet and French Toast the meals taste fresh and well prepared! Nah, this was notttt it. Ordered the chicken and waffles, it was really really rough. The chicken tasted like sour fish. I had to ask the server if it was chicken. They must fry it all Together or something. It was inedible and I'm the kind of person who can throw hot sauce on it and move on, but no and I mean no hot sauce could fix this disaster. The Yelp reservation time estimate is very useful and accurate so it was nice to reserve a spot in line while we got ready for breakfast (highly recommend reserving a spot if not the wait is like 2 hours when it's busy). I got the pancake flight which was really good. Very sugary but that's exactly how I like it! Ordered the blueberry, strawberry shortcake, and s'mores pancake. Wish they had the peanut butter one they have in their photos but it's ok, it was still very delicious. Blueberry pancake was my favorite, definitely do not skip the chance of trying it! Service was also very quick and efficient. Received a text saying our table was ready and we headed over. We were seated right as we walked in. Server came by immediately for drink order and was ready to take our food order quickly (I appreciate the quickness). They had the food out in about 10 minutes. Overall really good food and service! I added a fruit cup but ended up bringing it home to eat later. All the food here is homemade. The staff was working hard to make sure all customers were being taken care of.
