Came here with my husband today from out of town and it was the best breakfast we have had in a long time. What we ate? Crab Benedict, bacon, waffles, coffee. Only complaint- the bacon was too thick for my liking. I wish the menu said that it was going to be extra thick. Coffee is a French press and we split a pot. Was so good! This is a little gem in rural Ohio. Everything about the place (from decor, food offerings, ambiance) is well thought out and you can tell a lot of effort was put into bringing this upscale restaurant experience to the area. We had the bacon wrapped dates and burrata for apps- both of which were excellent. They had multiple drink and food specials, so be sure to ask about those because they weren't printed on menus. Both of our steak entrees were overcooked more than we ordered, but still good and not that big of a deal to us. The chocolate cake/brownie dessert with fruit was outstanding and I wish I had more. I would highly recommend making the drive to check out this place. read more

This quaint spot is an unexpected surprise in this cute little town. Date night, birthday, special event. The patio is beautiful! Water features, fire places, diverse seating options... The inside is so inviting down to the salt and pepper shakers... The pictures attached tell the story of how amazing the food was... creative, beautifully plated, and absolutely delicious. We kept hearing about this place, so my husband made reservations for our anniversary. We were seated in the bar area at a table. We were not too excited about the table as we felt like we were sitting too low, and it was difficult to eat our food. Outside of that one inconvenience, we found the restaurant delightful. Wait staff excellent, food delicious and presented well. Over all we had a very enjoyable evening on our 37th wedding anniversary. We wish them the best with their success! Been looking forward to eating here since we made reservations a few weeks ago. The service was excellent but the food was disappointing, we sent back 1 of 2 appetizers but was not taken off our bill. Out of the 4 entrees, two were just OK and the other two only eat about half. RQ was busy, as it was Saturday, but no one asked us how it was. It was more expensive than we were used to paying in Canton/Akron with quality 1/2 as much. Great spot for the Salem Cruisers weekend! We sat on the beautiful patio and tried everything on the menu. The RQ Burger and Brisket were our lunch favorites, and the Street Corn and Watermelon/Feta Salad were standout sides. Finished with a tasty peach cobbler. Yes, we'd agree with the other reviews that the ambiance and decor are very pleasing. The investment in aesthetics was surely significant. The food, however, wasn't as pleasing. We ordered the Smoked Whitefish and the Bratwurst. They both were appropriate for our taste. There were a couple bones discovered in the Whitefish... as for the bratwurst, it was tasty and I appreciate it being house made. The potatoes were watery. Where I draw a line is with the price point for the Bratwurst. $27 for the plate is excessive. After reading the reviews, I expected to be wow'd. I wasn't. The wait staff were polite and knew their product. My final comments are in regard to the payment process. I paid using cash. In giving the folio to the server, I placed $140 in it for a $91 total. The expectation was that I'd receive a breakdown of the bills. The server returned with an empty portfolio and asked be if I wanted change. Quite an odd means of doing business. A lot of locals in the community have provided reviews. Interesting menu but the large plate price points are out of line. (That's my opinion). There are certainly others. No, the three star isn't for the closeout experience. It's an overall rating. The overall experience, based upon reviews, wasn't what we were anticipating going in. My husband and I had brunch here this past summer and it was lovely, so for my mom's 86th birthday we thought we would take her and my sister here for dinner. My mom lives in Salem and has been wanting to try it. My husband saw a review in a local paper that TRQ was "Michelin" style food. This is not what any of us experienced. To start with something positive, the atmosphere is lovely. Warm and inviting. The staff was friendly and inviting if not always on top of service. Starting with cocktails I ordered a "smoked old fashion." The drink came with no smoke and none of that yummy richness of smoked whiskey. When I inquired they took it back to a machine that topped it with a bubble. When I broke the bubble at the table some vapor was released and it was whimsical, but def not smoked. My husband ordered a Moscow mule that came with bruleed marshmallows. He said the marshmallows were stale despite being hit with a flame. We ordered apps of bacon wrapped dates and burrata. The bacon wrapped dates were clearly either premade and/or frozen as they were very dry and had little flavor. The burrata was okay, but nothing special. My sister and I ordered scallops with blue crab risotto. It came with a huge plate of risotto and four medium sized scallops in the middle, all scallops pale with no sear at all. There was no trace of blue crab to be found anywhere in either risotto. Not in flavor or by sight. My mother ordered a shrimp roll that consisted of cut up shrimp in a whole lot of mayo on a white roll. Again, nothing special, in fact a bit off-putting. Mom just kind of picked at it and ate mostly fries. My husband got a burger and was told it came medium if that was good. He said it was. What he got was a well done dry burger that he said lacked any flavor at all. I had stated in the notes when making the reservation it was for my mother's 86th birthday. However despite bringing a big birthday balloon for her place setting, no one made any mention of it. In fact, when I mentioned it was her birthday to the host who came to our table with my drink, he said, "Oh, I didn't know it was her birthday." We love good food. It does not have to be fancy to be good. And we try whenever possible to frequent local independent restaurants. But when an establishment bills itself as elevated, the expectations are higher. Honestly we have had better food at TGIF. Very disappointing. read more

Had the wings and bacon wrapped dates for apps. Both were great, wings were cooked perfect. Burger was cooked perfectly and would definitely order again. Also ordered the gnocchi which was amazing with the peas and brown butter. Could tell it was fresh. Everything came out very quick and the staff was very attentive! We have visited twice. Between the two of us we have had the gnocchi, bratwurst, and cottage pie. All three entrees are on point. The cottage pie has a hint of thyme that is delightful. The mashed potatoes on top are perfect. Overall it's a warm, comforting dish. The gnocchi is over the top!! We have both tried it and the pillowy fluffiness reminds immediately that the food in this establishment is all fresh with nothing frozen or manufactured. Speaking of manufactured, Ms. Gano makes Rumpled Queen's very own bratwurst in house which is served on a pile of mashed potatoes. True comfort. Other side notes: the fries are spot on served with a flavorful aioli, the desserts are honest to God hands down amazing. The lemon cheesecake is a must try!!! So is the chocolate torte with it's raspberry red wine reduction. Also the mocktails are delicious!! I can't remember the exact names but I have experienced both the blackberry and grapefruit mocktails. Both are so good you won't miss the alcohol!!! Overall I am thankful to Annie Gano for bringing her experience and talents home for us to enjoy. She could have kept them in the big cities but chose to come home and give to us what we used to be able to experience only by leaving town. Thank you, Annie!! We will be back over and over again!! And one more thing!!! The atmosphere is so amazing that we actually ended up dining with and getting to know those nearby which made for a wonderful evening! Kudos to John Hippley for the pergola, water feature, firepit, walls to make the space private and intimate. Attentive waitstaff. Food arrived quickly. Seared salmon was perfectly cooked. Finally got a chance to check out The Rumpled Queen. What a great experience from the entire staff to the foods to the desserts! We had a larger party of 6 adults and 2 kids. Everything was ready to go for our reservation on arrival. Having being to this location under the former tenant, what an amazing transformation Annie performed here! The ambiance is spectacular. She left no detail untouched! All of the food items were made as described with great flavors. The slated chocolate chip cookies at the end of the meal were fantastic! For me personally, I sampled the wings as an app and had the burger for dinner. Some other reviews complain about the price. We felt the pricing was inline with the offerings and the setting. It may not be what locals are use to but we are use to traveling out for similar meals so it was in line with what we figured it would be. Awesome job to all.
