Bought a number of items including bike shoes, with prominently displayed sale price. Didn't notice at the time that they charged me the non-sale price as I purchased a few items. Later noted the price difference and went back to ask for price adjustment. Several staff immediately started giving me this BS story about tariffs, changing prices, can't keep the display prices up to date due to the changing market. Meanwhile one of them goes over to the shoe display and erases the sale price. They should have honored the display price but these guys are opportunists. They know they can screw out of town visitors as we are likely not repeat customers. read more

I recently purchased a Trek gravel bike from their online store, which was easy enough. When I went to pick the bike up they insisted that I have my photo taken with the bike for their social media pages and were visibly and vociferously annoyed that I DID NOT want a photo or to be on social media. I understand that it's part of their marketing, but there are alot of us that DO NOT participate in social media and prefer to live our lives a little more privately. Because the photo issue, this transaction felt fairly sour and I'm not sure I'd ever buy a bike from OTE again. read more

On the positive note, the guys were nice. When I brought the creakiness of the bottom bracket to their attention, it was the second day- the team worked hard to try to fix it. While the mechanic thought he got it... In the end, my bike creaked and even skippped for all 3 rental days. For a high-end rental that is pretty lame. When I pointed out how much that wasn't a stellar experience, they simply responded that they would try to correct the issue for the next guy. IMHO, they could have offered to give a discount or at least a sincere apology, but I got neither. I love supporting the local bike shops, but they should try to do better by the tourists .... read more

After watching the demo inventory on Rocky Mountain bikes at OTE Fruita, a great deal on a new-old stock Trek Stache caught my eye, and soon I was on the phone with the staff to make a purchase. LeAndra was awesome to deal with, communicated well, was able to get me a much better deal on shipping to PA, and had the bike boxed and out the door the next morning. Fantastic! They use BikeFlights.com for shipping, so the bike was insured through UPS ground. Upon opening today, the bike was well- packaged and arrived safely. My LBS is currently assembling. While riding a bike first is always the best route, OTE Fruita was a pleasure to purchase from 1,900 miles (or 29 hours) away. Knowing many customers are on an all-too-short vacation, OTE is staffed so they can fix your bike NOW! They are mountain bike oriented, as you might expect in Fruita. I always come to this shop when I do my bi-annual Fruita trip. Great vibe. This trip I broke a spoke and blew the seal on my tubeless tires. I asked if they could do a quick fix so I could ride the next day. They replaced the spoke and re-sealed my tire, turned it around in an hour, at reasonable rates. This is the OG bike shop in Fruita that started it all. I have been coming here for 15 years and always great service. On my latest trip they processed a warranty repair for my cranks and set me up with a new crankset to get by. They also sell some very cool Fruita stickers. Highly recommend! read more

I purchased a bike and equipment from this shop, and I live over 300 miles away. Why would I do this? Because I rented a bike, (Santa Cruz Bronson C), liked the way it handled, and Over the Edge Sports staff gave me a smoke'n deal! I was in two days before buying G-Form protective wear for elbows and knees, because they have a very good selection and inventory. Kirk, store employee, was very helpful with sizing and the purchase of a couple other things. Next day, bought some more items and talked to store employee Greg. He too was very helpful and knowledgeable. That day I decided to rent the Bronson, which I picked-up about an hour before closing. Today, I rode the bike, found a way to get it home in my vehicle; since my bike rack was already loaded with personal bikes. And when I returned the bike, I talked to Greg, Kirk, and 'someone higher up', who gave me a deal I couldn't refuse. So if your looking for a new bike to you, or just a new bike, or rent from an extensive selection of bikes, this is the time and place in Fruita. Just get your ride in early in the morning and late in the evening to avoid the heat during this time of year (June). And note: Been in Over the Edge Sports all through the years for maps, gear and a quick repair; always helpful. :-) read more

Best shop period. Over the Edge is where you must stop when in Fruita, or even when passing through. Place is a vault of information on the local riding, since many people here help build and maintain the trails. Fruita is the biker's dream locale. Trails built for the sole purpose of the fat tire. And a community full involved with this. Shop is big. Tons of great jerseys and shirts to let all your friends know where you stopped in. And for them to let their jealous reside. Shop is none for their FU shirts and stickers. FU standing for Fruita, not the other two words. Mechanics are quick. I just cannot say enough about this bike shop. I went to Fruita with my brothers this weekend to ride some of the best singletrack trails in the world. Both of my brothers had bike maintenance issues that the mechanics fixed on the spot, and didn't charge for. One of them was considering a new bike, Max, best bike shop dude ever, talked him off the ledge and helped him change his stem and handlebars which vastly improved his comfort on his ride the next day. They installed his new gear for free, and gave us frosty man sodas while we waited. We got great information on local trails and they were really helpful with directions. Even though I live 4 hours away, the next bike I will buy will be from this shop. Every business should have service this good. read more

UPDATE: Received a phone call from the owner to discuss this experience. He truly does seem to have the customers experience in mind and genuinely felt bad for my experience. Service is enthusiastic, to the point where I was kind of taken aback on the phone when I rented, but I'd rather have that than no service at all. I went with a group of three, and our flights out of the East Coast got cancelled and we had to shift our whole trip back a day. Given that this was Memorial Day weekend and the deposit and cancellation policy, I fully expected to get charged for the first day that we were going to miss and have to pay for an extra day. Instead, with just one days' notice, they shifted shift the reservation and they accomodated us with no problem. The bikes we rented were a new vintage of the Rocky Mountain Altitude and didn't look like they had too much wear and tear on them. I liked how the mechanics took the time to adjust the bikes to our weight and height and made sure we test rode them to make minor adjustments. I ended up swapping my saddle out and having them adjust the tension on the cleats. We popped a tire but weren't charged for the cartridges used from the flat kits and no extra charges were assessed when we turned them in. They also thoughtfully rent bike racks as well, which I've noticed that some places don't. All-in-all, the bikes we rented were great, and service at the bike shop was quick and efficient with none of the attitude you can get in some of the more serious bike shops in Washington DC where I hail from. Oh yea, and Fruita has some of the best singletrack ever... designed for mountain bikers, by mountain bikers... by the guys from this shop. read more

Over times that I go in, I am treated like a VIP, even though I am guessing I have only spent...oh $500 in 20 years?. Don't get me wrong- this shop is great. Good people and great service. My only complaint is I brought my bike in to get a new chain. The XTR chain that I bought was $79.00. The price seemed a bit steep, so once I got home I did some research and realized it was priced significantly over MSRP. I guess when you are the only game in town, you can do that. I am a intermediate/advanced mountain bike rider...and was a bit anxious as to how Fruita's trails would treat me. I visited The Outer Edge Sport Shop and over a weeks time became acquitted with the manager, Landon Monholland, and several of his staff...a friendly, knowledgeable group of dedicated mtn bikers, whose knowledge of the local trails was freely given and who always had a friendly hello for me. During that time I noticed how professional their mechanics were and how thorough they were during the repair of the bikes they were working on. A first rate bike shop that is interested in me, the customer. I rented a first rate full suspension bike which they spent ample time fitting to me...I felt confident and ready to ride after the time and effort they put in getting the bike set up for me. The whole town, including the OTE Sport Shop, was a pleasure to be around....definitely will return one day soon. I went in there to rent a bike and ended up buying one witch by the way was a fantastic deal. They ALL treated me like I was buying a hundred bikes. I was in there with my boyfriend who wanted to buy a bike rack for his jeep witch was no simple task. The jeep had a lift kit and huge tires to deal with. AGAIN, another "Over the Edge" bike shop has proved to be "the BEST"! I had only dealt with Sedona's "OTE" but, Fruita proved to be just as good. The staff is enthusiastic, helpful, knowledgeable of the local area and ready to assist in anyway. They even packed up my bike and shipped it home to California for what I thought a small cost for all they had to do. How cool is that!?!??!
